The Release Party of a Showgirl’

“Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” has begun unspooling in cinemas nationwide for its limited three-day engagement, and the theatrical event’s behind-the-scenes footage and personal commentary from Swift are giving fans more insight into the hit album it’s promoting.

The hour-and-a-half program (presented in theaters with no trailers or other preliminaries) begins with Swift offering a brief introduction and thanks, then goes straight into the premiere of the elaborate music video for “The Life of Ophelia,” followed by behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the Swift-directed video. Most of the rest of the 90 minutes consists of semi-static lyric videos for the other 11 tracks from the “Life of a Showgirl” album, preceded by Swift offering two or three minutes of commentary about the inspiration for the songwriting in each instance.

More BTS footage from the “Ophelia” shoot is scattered throughout the program, which ends with a reprise of the opening video — with viewers now having more insight into where to look for fun moments that will have gone overlooked on first viewing. (The repeat showing of the music video at the close is also handy for any latecomers to the theater who didn’t believe the part about there being no trailers.)

Discussing the “Ophelia” video, Swift says, “The idea I came up with for this music video was sort of a journey throughout all these different ways in which over time periods, historically, you could be a showgirl… Like, how you would be in the public eye back during the 1800s, when you’d sit for a Pre-Raphaelite painting. Or you could be a showgirl by being a cabaret burlesque club performer. You could be a theatrical actor putting on a performance. You could a Vegas showgirl. You could be one of the girls in the Busby Berkeley screen-siren era of the ‘30s and ‘40s. You could be a pop singer on the Eras Tour.”

Indeed, the time-tripping allows the star to take on several different personas, including a classic showgirl with a Marilyn-Monroe-platinum bob hairdo, a ’60s-style brunette go-go dancer in a nightclub, an Esther Williams-like bathing beauty on a movie set with a giant staircase and a cast of dozens, and a raven-haired theatrical actress. All of these different looks show up later in the lyric videos, via brief video loops that run behind the giant-sized lyric excerpts.

Serious Swifties will enjoy the music video, and especially the copious behind-the-scenes footage, for the many familiar faces that populate these scenes. One of the reasons for her excitement in sharing all this, she says, is that “is that we got everybody back together from the Eras Tour; all of the performers that you saw on that stage are back in this music video, as well as so many of the people who worked behind the scenes to create the Eras Tour.” That includes everyone from the dancers to production designer Ethan Tobman and choreographer Mandy Moore.

It’s not a big spoiler to say that the music video ends with a recreation of the album cover image of Swift mostly submerged in a tub in full glam attire. What many fans may not know is that this was all borrowed from a classic painting.

For the denouement of the “Ophelia” video, she “wanted to match the framing ideally to the album cover and kind of just frame it exactly like that, so that people are like, ‘Oh, so the cover is a reference to the Ophelia painting, and this ending is a reference to the cover.’ So, art history for pop fans!” The painting she’s referring to is a circa-1850 painting of the Shakespearian character Ophelia by British artist Sir John Everett Malais, which portrays the doomed woman floating and singing in the water before she drowns herself, as described by Gertrude but not directly portrayed in “Hamlet.”

“Ophelia drowned because Hamlet just messed with her head so much that she went crazy and she couldn’t take it anymore, and all these men were just gaslighting her until she drowned,” Swift explains. But in her version, “what if the hook is that you saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia? Like. basically you are the reason why I didn’t end up like this, tragic, poetic hero girl, who passed away in a fictional world?”

Admitting that it might sound like “a stupid thing to say,” Swift goes ahead and declares: “I love Shakespeare… It holds up. It’s actually not overhyped! And I love those tragedies so much. I fall in love with those characters so much that it hurts me that they die. … This is now the second song where I’ve gone back in and (am) like, ‘Yo, what if they got married instead of they die?’” (The other one she’s referring to is, of course, “Love Story,” which lets Romeo and Juliet off the hook.)

There’s deeper meaning to some of the other imagery in the music video than might first be intuited by viewers. For instance, that classic movie-musical scene in which she and all the dancers are wearing bathing caps and carrying life preservers… it celebrates the famously swimming movie star Esther Williams, cineastes will now, but it’s also, yes, an Ophelia reference. “Right now we are sitting on the set of what we’re kind of calling our Busby Berkeley-inspired, MGM, screen queen 1930s and ‘40s” motif, she says, “and we’ve got it looking kind of a little bit like a beach/swim/pool thing. And that’s a play on Ophelia.” The character drowned herself, as previously noted, but in that movie-musical homage, “we’ve got these lifesaving devices, which could have prevented that from happening,” she points out, with tongue firmly in cheek.

Viewers also learn, in the behind-the-scenes footage, how a certain very handsome bread came to make a cameo. “Oh, I can bake the bread… Can it be my bread? Can my bread be in the music video?” The next day, she is delighted to add her impressive part to the set design. “This is a really exciting day for me as a baker because my bread is actually a music video star as of today.”

One point that comes up as the dancers learn their choreography: “The Fate of Ophelia” was not actually played on-set, to avoid leaks. And so the dancers required extra direction because of that. “We’re in secret sauce. No one’s hearing this track. All anyone’s hearing in the room is just click. So I also have to be able to inform the dancers, ‘You need to feel this in this moment.’”

As the song explanations proceed, she brings clarity to what has quickly emerged as a fan-favorite song, “Opalite,” and explains the two color distinctions that would be lost on most listeners without her spelling it out.

“Opalite is manmade opal. I’ve always loved opal; my mom has always loved opal; it’s kind of like our thing — one of our many things,” Swift says. “And I loved the metaphor of a manmade opal (as) you had to make your own happiness in your life. You had to get yourself through some difficult times to get to the positive place you’re in now. And I really loved the idea that the manmade gemstone jewel is also a metaphor for choosing your own path to happiness… It didn’t just happen to you. You had to fight for it. You had to work for it. You had to earn it.”

Swift has been highly reluctant to discuss who her songs are about, going back at least to her second album, so she isn’t about to break form with that now and discuss the real-life figures whom Swifties believe are addressed in the diss tracks “Father Figure” and “Actually Romantic.” But she does lend context to her thinking about those tunes.

The singer says her basic love for alliteration is why she was drawn to George Michael’s “Father Figure,” which is the one interpolation on the album, in her new composition of the same name. She felt there was room to work it because “that line in the context of the George Michael song is romantic,” but “I always thought it could be cool to use the line ‘I’ll be your father figure’ as a creative writing prompt and turn it into a story about power, and a story about a young ingenue and their mentor and the way that that relationship can change over time… and betrayal and wit and cunning and cleverness and strategy. Essentially it ends up in a ‘who’s gonna win’ situation — who’s gonna gonna outfox the other?” She doesn’t fully address the change of perspective that happens midway through the lyrics, but says “I can relate to both characters in certain parts of the song.“

As for “Actually Romantic,” which is the talk of the pop-culture internet this weekend because of how it appears to be an answer song to a track Charli XCX put out last year, she describes it “as sort of a love letter to someone who hates you. Sometimes you don’t know that you are a part of someone else’s story, but you are. And then kind of there can be this moment where it’s unveiled to you through things that they do that are very overt.” As she’s gotten older, she adds, “I’ve just started to be like, ‘Oh my God… you did so much with this… it’s flattering. I don’t hate you and I don’t think about this, but thank you for all the effort, honestly. Wow. That is very sweet of you to think about me this much, even if it’s negative. Like, in my industry, attention is affection, and you’ve given me a whole lot of it, so…” She then blows the camera a kiss.

She also gets into the impetus for “Cancelled!,” saying she “wanted to write a song about how you can become wiser for it and how you can become sharper … I definitely judge people a lot less now that I’ve been under the microscope for so long. I just judge people based on who I know to be their actions, not some sort of general consensus where people are like, ‘Step away, they’re radioactive.’ I’m just like: not gonna do that. I’m gonna do that if somebody proves that they’re not a good person.”

Sabrina Carpenter does not appear anywhere in this theatrical program, except for a film clip of a duet during the Eras Tour. But Swift has plenty to say about bringing her on for the album’s sole duet, on the title track.

“We finished writing it and I was like, ‘I want Sabrina to sing on this so bad’ … She’s well-equipped for this career. She is so good at moving through backlash or criticism or people being unfair to her or picking her apart. She has the temperament to pivot and use it as fuel. … I really feel like she’s got the same mentality as what this song (is) about: having a love for the game that overrides how hard this can be. And she was like, ‘Are you kidding? I’m dead. Yes, of course.’ …. And then when she was on tour in Sweden, she took her days off and went and recorded it, and that is a showgirl for you.”

Those producing the “release party” and distributing it have pointedly avoided calling it a “film” — but it is certainly being counted as one for the purposes of box office receipts. “Showgirl” is expected without question to come out on top of the weekend’s grosses, even as the album itself is poised to break records for streaming and sales in 2025, based on first-day results.

JAY-Z Hosts Star-Studded Party For Grandmother’s 100th Birthday

JAY-Z celebrated his grandmother Hattie White’s 100th birthday in a major way. The rapper gathered friends, family, and A-list celebrities for the high-class affair. Clips and videos shared across social media highlight Grandma Hattie’s kind words, a lavish birthday cake, and a special performance from Stevie Wonder. Additional attendees included, of course, Beyoncé, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Klay Thompson, Nas, Chris Martin, Tina Knowles, and many more.

“I want to thank you for coming out and celebrating my 100th birthday,” shared the centenarian. As she spoke, the Brooklyn rapper stood proudly by her side. A glamorous, seven-tier, metallic gold cake sweetened the milestone moment.

“May God bless all of y’all who have traveled the road that I have traveled,” she continued.

In an Instagram post uploaded by Queen Bey gave fans a closer look inside the affair. Set to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” the rapid slideshow shared images of Beyoncé in a fitted, black gown with velvet detailing, with a fur coat from Black designer Tiara Peach of FGM Bespoke, styled by Ty Hunter.

The Grammy-winner also shared fun pictures of card tables, her and JAY-Z enjoying a little PDA, the woman of the hour, her children dancing, and Stevie Wonder on stage.

Bey Hive fans will recognize White as one of the voices in Beyoncé’s acclaimed Lemonade. At the end of the defiant “Freedom,” the elder proclaimed, “I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.”

Additional posts from Mama Tina revealed video footage of the special performance.

“Stevie said ‘ Happy Birthday to Ms Hattie White’ The mayor of Brooklyn declared Sunday Ms. Hattie White Day!” exclaimed the Knowles family matriarch on Instagram. “The elegant , classy , beautiful lady turned 100 and was celebrated by her family and friends at a party , fit for the Queen she is!!! Stevie Wonder , one of her favorite artist paid tribute to her with her own private concert!!! Stevie reminded us of the many hits that he’s made!!! We danced the night away.”

“Those Carters know how to party!!!!!!!!!” she added.

A second upload featured her singing along.

She added, “Jamming to Stevie Wonder and Golden Lady ! Ms Hattie White was The Golden Lady of the night . We were celebrating her 100th birthday.. and what a glorious human being she is. I can hear her famous quote ‘life gave me lemons and I made lemonade!’ Jay you showed out for your grandma and she deserved every moment of it!”

In 2018, Hov dedicated a bench in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to his grandmother.

“She’s so full of life, and Hattie White, amongst other accomplishments of being super great and tough, she raised seven kids in one little walk-up in Brooklyn,” shared the Hip-Hop icon in 2019 while accepting the NAACP President’s Award.

“On top of that, her kids had kids, and we were all raised in the same house. One household. So I was speaking to her the other day, and I asked her, ‘How much money did you make?’  and she made $20 a week, and she said, ‘No, but it’s fine. You could do a lot with $20 in those days.’ And with that sort of attitude, that’s how I grew up.”

Jania Meshell Attends Dejounte Murray Party Amid Split Rumors

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Dejounte Murray’s 29th birthday wasn’t just a celebration—it was a reunion the internet didn’t see coming (or maybe they did). The NBA star stepped out looking sharp, but it was Jania Meshell by his side that really had folks zooming in and asking questions. And now, fans are wondering: did Dejounte double back before the block got too hot? Meanwhile, a clip showing Jania in an altercation with Arabian at the event has gone viral, adding even more heat to the night.

Is Love In The Air Or Just Good Vibes?

Dejounte Murray rang in his 29th birthday like a man who’s been doing it big for years, throwing a celebration that screamed luxury from wall to wall. The basketball player stood tall in a red tuxedo top paired with crisp black pants, radiating nothing but big birthday energy as guests serenaded him with a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday.’ And standing right beside him? None other than Jania Meshell, who was giving full support in a sleek black dress with an open back.

At one point, the influencer joined her Dejounte on stage, pointing at him with a proud smile while leading the birthday song with the crowd like a true ride or die. Oh—and did we mention Boosie hit the stage too? Because yes, it was that kind of night.

Not Y’all Acting Shocked — The TL Been Called This Reunion

As soon as the clip hit the internet TSR comment section lit up like clockwork. Some users joked that “all of Jania’s exes still love her” and applauded Dejounte for spinning the block before NBA YoungBoy had the chance. Others shared their takes, saying the key is to make your man nervous and then act like nothing ever happened—because apparently, a little pressure goes a long way.

One Instagram user @queenasiaimani said, “All Nene exes love her“

This Instagram user @trina_blessed_u wrote, “My girl just supporting both her children’s fathers! She still single!“

Instagram user @goldennnn_ revealed, “Yes sister get your man back !!!!“

Meanwhile, Instagram user @beyariafter7 added, “This girl ain’t leaving that man 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️ that man has a $120M contract with $111M guaranteed! She ain’t going nowhere! 😩🙌🏾🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️”

While Instagram user @sexxyjitsuu_ said, “He [a] Virgo that explains a lot 😂”

Instagram user @charitymariiee wrote, “Sometimes you gotta make ya ni**a nervous then act like nothing happen 🤣”

Lastly, Instagram user @_sheisjordann commented, “he knew better to get her back before YB do🤣”

Wait, Didn’t Dejounte & Jania Just Break Up Though?

Now hold on, because just a few weeks ago, the internet was convinced Dejounte Murray and Jania Meshell were done for good. TSR fans might remember the social media cleanup that had people raising eyebrows. Photos vanished, cryptic posts popped up, and the breakup rumors started flying fast. And, Jania had folks side-eyeing when she pulled up to her ex NBA YoungBoy’s concert.

The tea really boiled over when Jania went live and declared, “What yall not about to see is me with nobody for a long time,” adding that she planned to stay single as long as she had been in a relationship. But babyyy—fast forward to his birthday party, and guess who was front and center singing him ‘Happy Birthday to Dejounte? So now the question is: was it just a friendly pull-up, or are these two quietly spinning the block?

Jania Throws Hands With Arabian At Dejounte’s Party

Despite the festive vibes, things quickly turned up at Dejounte Murray’s birthday party when a video surfaced, showing Jania Meshell going up to Arabiann and throwing hands. The two have allegedly been feuding for years over NBA YoungBoy, and tensions finally boiled over in front of guests. Arabian took to X afterward with several tweets and even clapped back at commenters, adding fuel to the fire. In one post, Arabian told her X followers that she got an invite to Dejounte’s party despite how tussle with Jania.

“If I wasn’t suppose to be there then why was I invited to an invite only event? SHE DIDN’T PAY FOR IT, HE DID LETS START THERE but anywho happy Sunday go to church and get off the internet worry about me,” Arabian wrote.

Fleetwood Mac respond to reports they will reunite for J.K. Rowling’s 60th birthday party

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Fleetwood Mac have responded to recent reports that they would be reuniting to perform at J.K. Rowling’s 60th birthday party.

The band have not played together since a children’s hospital benefit concert in San Francisco in November 2019, and it has been widely thought that any chance of a reunion was unlikely due to Christine McVie’s passing in 2022.

However, a report in the Daily Mail on Saturday (September 20) suggested that the Harry Potter author was planning on hiring them to play at her two-day 60th birthday party later this year.

Representatives for the band were quick to respond to the speculation, telling Rolling Stone that “this is categorically false” and even stating that it is “not in the realm of true”.

In April 2018, it was announced that Lindsey Buckingham had been dismissed from the band following what was described as “a disagreement over the band’s upcoming tour”. They went on to tour without him in 2018 and 2019, with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Crowded House’s Neil Finn filling in for Buckingham.

Following the end of that tour, the band became dormant, and after McVie’s death in 2022, Stevie Nicks said there was “no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together” without her.

Similarly, Mick Fleetwood said in 2023 that he believed “the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris”, although he did add: “But then we’ve all said that before.”

Even if a Fleetwood Mac reunion does not appear to be on the cards, Nicks and Buckingham fuelled fresh speculation this month about a possible reunion of their Buckingham Nicks duo.

Just weeks after confirming the re-release of their self-titled 1973 album, the former bandmates shared a joint Instagram post on September 5 that featured an old clip of the two onstage.

In the video, Nicks sings the opening lyrics of their 1973 track ‘Frozen Love’: “You may not be as strong as me, and I may not care to teach you.” She then trails off before laughing: “That’s all I remember.” Their latest post was captioned: “We remember the rest now.”

Elsewhere, Stevie Nicks has said she’s working on a new album, saying it was made up of “real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men”.

This week, meanwhile, Fleetwood and Buckingham teamed up with Miley Cyrus on her new single ‘Secrets’, which is part of the deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Something Beautiful’. Listen to the track above.

Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: When and where to watch?

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Taylor Swift is bringing her twelfth studio album to the big screen. The pop sensation’s new record, The Life of a Showgirl, drops on Friday, October 3, and she is marking the moment with a short-run film event. Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will play in theaters nationwide the same day, giving fans just one weekend to catch it.

Taylor Swift is gearing up for the release of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.(Scott A Garfitt/Invision/AP)

According to Harpers Bazaar, the limited engagement runs from October 3 through October 5. That is three days only – Friday through Sunday – before it disappears from theaters. Swift’s team is pitching it as part movie premiere, part album release, rolled into one experience.

Where to watch it?

AMC Theatres is at the center of the rollout. Swift already made history with them during last year’s Eras Tour concert film, and this marks the second collaboration between the star and the chain. AMC confirmed screenings will start right at showtime.

Tickets are already on sale through AMC’s website. Cinemark is also part of the launch, offering screenings in standard format as well as Cinemark XD. The XD upgrade means giant screens, wall-to-wall sound, and a more immersive setup. Both chains expect heavy demand given Swift’s past box office record.

What is inside the film

The main attraction is the world premiere of the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl. Fans will also see behind-the-scenes footage from production, fresh lyric videos, and Swift’s personal reflections on different tracks from the album. The idea is to mix performance, process, and storytelling into one package, Harper’s Bazaar reported.

Why fans are paying attention

For Swifties, the appeal comes down to access. It is the very first look at visuals tied to the new album, all on a theater screen. Unlike The Eras Tour film, this isn’t a concert movie, but a one-off release party built for fans who want to be part of the launch weekend.

And right now, there is no streaming option on the table. If you want in, you will need a ticket and a seat at AMC or Cinemark during those three days. After October 5, it is gone.

At this point, Swift’s playbook is clear: make the album release itself into an event. And if past turnout is any clue, theaters will be packed.

FAQs:

When is Taylor Swift’s release party movie in theaters?

It runs from October 3 to October 5, 2025.

Where can I buy tickets?

Tickets are available through AMC and Cinemark’s official websites.

Will there be trailers before the movie?

No. AMC confirmed the event begins right at showtime.

Willem Dafoe Plays a Wealthy Greek Man in ‘The Birthday Party’ Trailer

by Alex Billington

Source: YouTube

“You’re cordially invited to the party of the year.” Heretic has revealed a festival promo trailer for the film titled The Birthday Party, directed by Spanish filmmaker Miguel Ángel Jiménez (of Seagull, The Night Watchman, Window to the Sea). This just premiered at the Locarno Film Festival last month and is looking for distribution still – hence this trailer to drum up more interest. Willem Dafoe stars as Marcos Timoleon, a wealthy Greek businessman, who’s hosting his daughter’s 25th birthday party on his own island. Unforeseen events unfold, jeopardizing his power and challenging his entire life’s foundations. It’s set in the late 1970s, somewhere in the Mediterranean, where Marcos Timoleon, an Aristotle Onassis-like tycoon, is throwing a lavish, extravagant birthday for his daughter and sole heiress. The filmmaker explains: “The Birthday Party is a film about power, legacy, love mistaken for possession, and the quiet violence within privilege – set on a paradise island that slowly reveals itself as a prison.” Along with Dafoe, this stars Vic Carmen Sonne, Joe Cole, Emma Suárez, Christos Stergioglou, Antonis Tsiotsiopoulos, and Elsa Lekakou. This looks like a rather strange film, a bit too experimental in its attempts to tell this story about this crazy rich dude.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Miguel Ángel Jiménez’s film The Birthday Party, from YouTube:

The Birthday Party Poster

Set in the 1970s somewhere in the Mediterranean, where Marcos Timoleon (Willem Dafoe), an Aristotle Onassis-like tycoon, is throwing a lavish, extravagant birthday party for Sofia (Vic Carmen Sonne), his daughter & sole heiress, on his exclusive private island. The party is a perfect excuse for various people to approach him with their own agendas. But Marcos, who is used to ruthlessly controlling everything and everyone around him at whatever cost, is also secretly plotting a big decision. Sofia, however, has come to share some important news of her own. As guests start pouring in & night falls, the party grows rowdier and more decadent, while the inevitable clash between Marcos & Sofia reaches a heartbreaking climax. The Birthday Party is directed by acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Miguel Ángel Jiménez, of the films Ori, Seagull, The Night Watchman, A God in Each Lentil, and Window to the Sea previously. The screenplay is written by Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Giorgos Karnavas, Nicos Panagiotopoulos. Based on the novel by Panos Karnezis. Produced by Heretic, Fasten Films, Lemming Film, & Raucous Pictures. This initially premiered at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival last month. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned for updates. Intrigued?

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

New Delhi, Décor? Tick. Mehndi, music and mad dancing? Of course. Lavish buffet? That too. Baraatis? Yes. Bride and groom? Err… no. Not necessary at all.

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

Welcome to the new world of partying in urban India.

With the band, baaja, baraat in place, these big fat Indian ‘weddings’ are as fun as they can be – sans family fuss and an actual couple entering into matrimony. The faux wedding theme has become all the craze with the urban young and maybe not so young too grooving their way through commitment free bashes.

“It’s about letting guests dress up, dance, eat, and play the part purely for the joy of it,” said Nishant Kumar, founder of Tahia, a rooftop restaurant in Noida, who recently hosted a sold out fake wedding event.

“It’s a novel idea born out of nostalgia, drama, and a love for Indian celebrations. Weddings are one of the most vibrant expressions of culture, food, music, and emotion — but they’re also chaotic and personal. We thought: what if we gave people all the fun, drama, and indulgence of a big fat Indian wedding minus the family politics.”

The idea worked.

The ticketed events, priced between ₹1,500 and above ₹10,000, have partygoers unleashing their inner baraatis in not-wedding season.

The quirky invites and irresistible event descriptions are hard to ignore. Think lines like “Baraatis. Bass. Booze. Rishtedars Prohibited” or specialty cocktails with names like the cheeky “Shaadi Waali LIIT”.

Next, before anyone knows, girls are getting mehndi done and slipping into sequin lehengas, while boys turn up in embroidered kurtas. Strangers become friends and hit the dance floor to celebrate a wedding that’s quite literally unreal.

“There is none of the usual stress about what to wear or not wear that you’d have at a real wedding with nosy relatives around. We are just there with our friends, dancing to the beats of the dhol, enjoying the food and drinks without a care in the world,” said Natasha Ghai, a college student in her 20s.

“It felt liberating, and the wedding vibe was absolutely on point,” Gha added enthusiastically about one such fake wedding theme party she attended in Gurugram recently.

Apoorva Gupta, a Delhi-based media professional in her 30s who typically avoids social events, was surprisingly happy to accompany her friend and her friend’s mother to a relaxed, no-strings-attached wedding in south Delhi.

What drew her in wasn’t the idea of a wedding itself, but the absence of everything that usually makes such events exhausting.

“I never thought I’ll enjoy a so-called wedding event so much. I danced on wedding songs all night as if no one was watching and to be honest no one was. Everyone was too busy having their own fun. There was no pressure of small talk with distant relatives or pose for photos with bride and groom. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind attending more weddings if they were like this,” she laughed.

With numerous fake weddings held across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Goa last month, and many more lined up for this month, the future of this trend looks just as sparkly as the venues themselves.

Kumar is ready with a Plan B.

“Once this wave passes, we’re ready with the next be it shaadi afterparties, or themed nights around break-ups, rishtas, or Bollywood clichés. The core stays the same: food, fun, and fantasy. The format just keeps evolving,” he explained.

According to Sid Mathur, founder of the food consulting firm Secret Ingredient, the events also offer a prime moment for experiential dining with consumers increasingly looking for more than just good food they want stories, surprise, and something a little off-centre.

“These immersive ideas, such as a faux wedding setup, create excitement and give people a reason to step out, especially in a saturated market. While they’re not meant to replace traditional formats, they add that burst of energy and fun that can reinvigorate a brand, especially when executed well and timed right,” he explained.

And there’s no shortage of out-of-the-box trends when it comes to immersive experiences.

The Piano Man, a chain of jazz clubs across Delhi-NCR that combines great music and food, has come up with the ‘Gourmet Cinema’ concept, where classic films are screened alongside menus inspired by the movie’s setting, mood, and storyline.

It recently screened “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” along with a Spanish menu inspired by the film to reflect its setting. “Ratatouille” was accompanied by dishes actually made in the hit animation. And “The Grand Budapest Hotel” was paired with a dining experience that captured the whimsical elegance of the film.

The response, said Arjun Sagar Gupta, founder of The Piano Man, is “absolutely fantastic”.

“Every show has been sold out and it is currently scheduled to run for an extended period, with fortnightly shows at both our Eldeco Centre and Gurugram venues. In addition to our core focus, which is showcasing music and artists from around the world, we have spent the last 10 years curating a variety of experiences across performance arts, education, fine art and more,” he added.

That said, Mathur, who is also the founder of KHOYA Mithai, pointed out that these playful dining concepts aren’t the bread and butter of the trade but are certainly the delightful, unexpected jam that makes people talk.

“They’re not designed to be the backbone of your business, but they add flavour, help generate virality, and serve as powerful marketing moments. They’re fantastic tools to create buzz and attract attention, especially for newer or rebranding establishments,” he concluded.

Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes Celebrate Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement

Brittany Mahomes is kicking off her birthday weekend in style.

Patrick Mahomes’ wife gave a peek into how the festivities began over Labor Day weekend—and it seems she might be taking a trip to the Pink Pony Club ahead of her 30th birthday Aug. 31.

In a snap reshared to her Instagram Story Aug. 29, Brittany stood on the steps of a private jet sporting a white T-shirt, pink pants and an orange, fuzz-rimmed cowgirl hat as she lifted one arm in the air and smiled at her friends. She was also surrounded by a plethora of festive balloons, including large 3-0 balloons and orange and pink inflatables, as well as balloons in the shapes of disco balls, stars and cowgirl boots.

She has yet to share where she’s headed with pals Lyndsay Bell and Cass Greinert, but it’s sure to be a rootin’-tootin’ good time.

After all, Cass captioned the same pic shared to her Instagram Story with a nod to country icon Shania Twain, writing, “Celebrating our girl all weekend!!! Let’s go girls.”

Plus, Brittany—who shares kids Sterling Skye, 4, Bronze Lavon, 2, and Golden Raye, 7 months, with Patrick—already got the party started, getting her birthday week underway with a spirited outing alongside her husband and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on Aug. 28.
