Sharon Osbourne struggling to sleep alone since Ozzy’s death

Sharon Osbourne has struggled to sleep alone since her husband Ozzy Osbourne died.

Sharon Osbourne is mourning husband Ozzy

The 73-year-old matriarch was left devastated when her beloved spouse died in July aged 76 and she and her children Jack and Kelly Osbourne have now released the first episode of their The Osbournes podcast in over a year to honour the late rocker and reflect on their own grief.

The trio recorded the episode sitting around a large wooden table covered in magazines featuring the Black Sabbath frontman, and Sharon admitted:

“I hate going to bed at night.”

Kelly said: “I mean, I slept with you for the first two months so that you weren’t on your own. But then I felt like you needed some space.

“I wake up and for the first three seconds I feel normal. And then I remember everything. Mornings are the hardest for me.

“What is the morning? Because it happened in the morning. And I used to spend most of my time with Dad in the morning.”

The 41-year-old star admitted she didn’t realise just how “horrible” it would feel to lose her beloved dad, who had been in poor health for years before his death from a heart attack.

She tearfully said: “I never realised just how horrible grief is. I never knew I was capable of loving somebody so much and missing somebody so much. I just, I never thought there’d be a day where he wouldn’t be here.”

Sharon asked: “But then how blessed are you to have had a dad like him?”

Kelly noted her dad would “hate” to see her crying and admitted she has taken comfort from her three-year-old son Sidney, who she has with rocker fiance Sid Wilson.

She said: “I’m just so grateful that Sidney got to meet him. And that they had such a special little relationship.

“If it wasn’t for my baby boy…”

Father-of-four Jack agreed: “Having the kids has been a huge help.”

The 40-year-old TV personality has found some positives in his grief.

He explained: “It is both horrible and beautiful in the way that it forces you to unpack and examine things. Like, yeah, it sucks that he’s gone, but also, for me, it has led to a huge amount of gratitude and love and like really cherishing moments that at the time you take for granted.”

The public outpouring of grief for the Paranoid hitmaker has been “so helpful” to his family, but Sharon admitted she doesn’t think Ozzy would have realised how much he meant to people.

Kelly said: “The outpouring of love has been so helpful to us. I never could have even imagined it to be as helpful as it has been to know that we’re not alone in our grief, in our sadness and that the rest of the world loved him as much as we did…

“I haven’t seen an outpouring like that since Princess Diana died. I didn’t expect it.”

Sharon added: “Ozzy, he wouldn’t believe it. He wouldn’t. He didn’t realise how much he was loved and that was his beauty because he never took it for granted from anyone. He never took it for granted I’m this, I’m that. He had no idea.”

Kelly Osbourne’s Son Recreates Ozzy’s Bat Incident in Cute Video

It might be the first Halloween without Ozzy, but the Osbournes are remembering the late rocker in an adorable way. On Friday, Kelly Osbourne shared a silly video of her two-year-old son Sidney, biting the head off of a stuffed bat (just like grandpa once did!) and letting out a giggle.

“Learned from the greatest, Papa!” Kelly captioned the post, which she soundtracked with “Crazy Train.”

Of course, the infamous bat incident occurred during one of Ozzy’s solo performances in 1982. During a segment of the show where Ozzy threw raw meat into the crowd, fans began tossing back whatever they could sneak in. On one night in Des Moines, someone threw a bat onto the stage. Believing it was made of rubber, Ozzy picked it up and bit into it, only to discover it was real. The moment drew massive media attention and forced him to undergo a series of rabies shots. “It got to the point where people expected me to do crazier and crazier things,” Ozzy once said. “I’ll tell you what, guys — it ain’t fun when you get them rabies shots.”

The stuffed animal in Kelly’s video is actually sold on Ozzy’s official website for $40 in homage to the “legendary moment in rock history.”

In the comments of Kelly’s TikTok, fans made side-by-side collages of baby Sidney and Ozzy, calling them twins. (Kelly even shared some of the comparisons on Instagram Stories.) “He looks like him,” wrote one fan. “He’s reborn,” wrote another. “I know he saw that and is laughing from heaven,” added a third.

Ozzy died back in late July at the age of 76, but told People several years prior that he knew the bat incident would be part of his legacy after his death. “I mean, I’ve achieved quite a lot in my life, but all people do is go, ‘Ozzy, what do bats really taste like? Was it dead?’” he told the outlet. “But I’ll tell you what, when they gave me the rabies shot, I wasn’t smiling.”

Kelly has been open about grappling with grief following Ozzy’s passing. Over the weekend, she reflected on going through her “first birthday without my dad,” sharing a carousel of photos of her and Ozzy, and some of the birthday cards he’d write her. “Every year the thing I looked forward to the most was spending the day with him and the cards he would write me,” she wrote. “Knowing that I will never get one again shatters my heart.”

Sharon Osbourne ‘finding her footing’ after Ozzy’s death

Sharon Osbourne is still “finding her footing” in the wake of Ozzy Osbourne’s death.

Sharon Osbourne has thanked fans for their support

The former X Factor judge has spoken out for the first time since her beloved husband passed away in July at the age of 76 as she thanked fans for the “comfort” their messages of condolence have brought to her.

She wrote on Instagram: “I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media.

“Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights.”

The 72-year-old matriarch has been helped by a recent “magical” experience spending time with her daughter Kelly Osbourne and some trained birds of prey.

Sharing a video of their day together, including footage of an owl gliding onto her outstretched arm, Sharon wrote: “Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence.

“They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.

“I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”

Sharon’s post came days after Kelly also told how she had found comfort in bonding with the birds.

The 40-year-old star wrote on Instagram: “In all my sadness and grief I have found something that truly makes me happy! I never thought I would find my smile again through falconry but I did. I absolutely love being with the birds.”

Kelly previously took to Instagram to thank her followers for their support following Ozzy’s death and admitted their support had helped her to navigate the grief of losing her dad.

She wrote on the photo-sharing platform in August: “I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough … but from the bottom of my heart, thank you [heart emoji]

“The love, support and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain. (sic)”

Kelly also opened up about her experience of grief, observing that it “sneaks up on you in waves”.

She said: “Grief is a strange thing. It sneaks up on you in waves — I will not be OK for a while — but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light and the legacy left behind.”

Sharon Osbourne Shares Heartfelt Message to Fans After Ozzy’s Death

Sharon Osbourne posted a heartfelt message to fans on Friday, thanking them for their support following the death of her husband and metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22.

“I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights.”

Sharon also revealed that she has formed a newfound connection with falconry, which her daughter Kelly Osbourne had introduced her to the day before. Alongside the post, Sharon shared a video of her and Kelly with the trained birds of prey. In one clip, an owl glides toward Sharon’s extended arm before gracefully perching on it.

“Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence,” continued Sharon. “They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.”

She ended her note by writing, “I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”

Earlier this month, Sharon and Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne recounted his final week with his father in the first episode of his podcast since his passing. “After my dad’s show in Birmingham, I stuck around, hung out for a week with the family at the house with my kids, it was a really amazing week,” Jack said. “My dad was in an amazing mood. Every day, he was opening up the newspaper and seeing different reviews and different stories from the Back to the Beginning show, and it was great.”

Although Jack said his immediate reaction was a surge of “sadness and pain… so many thoughts,” he later said he was grateful for the timing of Ozzy’s death so soon after Black Sabbath‘s Back to the Beginning concert: “There is almost a perfection to it. He got to say goodbye in such a profound way.”
