Offset sued by security guard

2 November 2025

Offset is being sued for allegedly attacking a security guard.

Offset is being sued

The former Migos rapper is the subject of a lawsuit from Jim Sanchez, who has claimed the 33-year-old star lashed out when he was asked to show ID at the MedMen LAX cannabis dispensary back in March.

In documents obtained by TMZ, the security guard claimed he asked Offset for proof of identification, which prompted the rapper to become “hostile [and] verbally confrontational” before he allegedly “physically attacked Plaintiff by striking him in the face.”

Sanchez claimed a number of people with the Bodies rapper then piled in to “further assault and batter” him, with the incident leaving him with headaches and neck pain so severe that paramedics took him to hospital.

The man is suing for assault, battery and intentional affliction of emotional distress.

While the Jealousy hitmaker has yet to comment on the lawsuit, at the time of the incident, his spokesperson insisted the allegations were untrue, pointing out that as Offset had just got off a flight at nearby LAX airport, his identification was in his possession in the shop.

The rapper claimed he was in the process of presenting his ID when the security guard “aggressively rushed” him and alleged the man spat in his face, causing a fight to break out.

And when more of the store’s security team got involved, Offset allegedly punched the guard, who sprayed the star and his pals with mace.

Police were called to the scene but the group left.

Meanwhile, the Worth It hitmaker – who has Blossom, 13 months, Wave, four, and Kulture, seven, with estranged with Cardi B, as well as Kody, 10, Jordan, 15, and Kalea Marie, nine, from previous relationships – recently praised his mom for teaching him to instill “discipline” into his children.

Offset said on The Jennifer Hudson Show: “My mom influenced me with raising my kids is just like discipline.

“First off, like when it comes to schooling —not like physical, no — but like when it comes to like schooling and helping my kids understand how important it is. Nothing is going to be given to you.”

Despite this, Offset acknowledged that his kids have a very different childhood compared to his own.

He reflected: “My kids … have a higher lifestyle. So, I help them understand, especially my boys, though, that it’s still going to be a challenging time for you no matter where you go and to always represent us when you’re going.”

Gunna Confirms Joint Album w/ Offset Is In The Works

Ready for a joint #Gunna and Offset project?

Gunna announced at Apple Music’s One Night Only event that a collaborative album with Offset is “definitely” in the works, following solo albums from both artists. Gunna released The Last Wun on August 8, and #Offset dropped Kiari a few weeks later on the 22nd.

Continuing, Gunna said, “Yes, it’s in the works. But I, like, we spacing it out. You know, he dropped his album, I dropped my album. I was on his, he was on mine. And I feel like that was sprinkles and breadcrumbs for us to give you that meal soon.”

When should Gunna and Offset drop?

Cardi B Reveals Hold-Up On Offset Divorce, Alludes To Ex Wanting Her To Pay His Taxes & Sign Over One Of Her Properties: Imma Fight For That

It’s not lingering love that’s keeping #CardiB and #Offset married.

During a recent live chat on X, Cardi clarified that she’s “legally separated” from Offset, and the only reason their divorce hasn’t been finalized is because someone wants to hold her “hostage.”

While she didn’t directly name her husband of seven years, Cardi suggested Offset’s #divorce demands include having her pay his taxes and hand over one of her properties, two things she’s ready to “fight.” She also said the separation hasn’t affected her children’s lives, emphasizing that their schedules remain unchanged.

Cardi B is one of the biggest rappers in the world, but for her, being a mom is the most important. The “I Like It” hitmaker adores her three children — Kulture, Wave and Blossom — and has continued to balance motherhood with a thriving career in music and entertainment. Since welcoming her first child in 2018, Cardi, whose full name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, has been open about the challenges of juggling fame and family life. In a January 2022 Vogue cover story, she admitted that it can be “hard to balance” but added, “If I’m playing with my daughter, I forget about the issues.”

Now officially dating NFL star Stefon Diggs and in the middle of a public split from husband Offset, Cardi is entering a new chapter—one that’s come with renewed attention on her personal life. Though she previously called off a 2020 divorce for the sake of her family, her latest filing signals a more permanent break. Still, she remains deeply committed to raising her kids and embracing her role as a mom.

To learn more about Cardi and her kids, keep reading!

Kulture Kiari Cephus

It was big news when Cardi announced she was pregnant with her first child back in 2018. She courted baby rumors for months before debuting her baby bump in a major way during her Apr. 7 performance on Saturday Night Live. While rapping to her track “Be Careful”, the camera panned out to show the beauty’s belly wrapped in a tight, white Christian Siriano gown.

The fashionista didn’t stop with the fabulous maternity looks. During the next month’s 2018 Met Gala in May, she rocked a glorious Moschino gown inspired by the evening’s theme “The Catholic Imagination.” Cardi also let slip she was having a girl during the soiree.

Beautiful little Kulture was born on July 10, 2018. Cardi announced the news with a stunning shot of her nude and pregnant. Keeping the message simple, she shared, “Kulture Kiari Cephus 07/10/18” and tagged Offset.

Kulture’s birth wasn’t a cakewalk for Cardi. Talking about her post-partum healing process during a stop by Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Oct. 2021, she was blunt. “It was totally harder [than I expect],” Cardi said. “She broke my vagina.” The hilarious star asked the audience, “Why nobody tells you about those things? Nobody told me they were gonna stitch my vagina!”

Now that Kulture’s a bit bigger, she’s totally taken after her parents’ stylish ways. The toddler, who has over 2.2million Instagram followers, regularly shows off matching looks with mom and dad on social media. So cute!

Wave Set Cephus

Cardi waited three years to give Kulture a little brother. The star announced her 2nd child’s birth on Sep. 4, 2021 via Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of herself wrapped in a Louis Vuitton blanket while cradling her little one from her hospital bed.

“We are so overjoyed to finally meet our son. He is already loved so much by family and friends and we can’t wait to introduce him to his other siblings,” Cardi and Offset said in a statement via email to Hollywood Life. Offset also posted a sweet candid photo cuddling the baby boy. “Chapter 5,” he wrote in his caption.

The star’s 2nd pregnancy reveal was even wilder than the first. She debuted her belly during the Jun. 27, 2021 BET Awards, singing her hip “Type S***” in a sheer, mesh catsuit covered in crystals everywhere except a cut-out on her tummy.

The Invasion of Privacy artist was more private about Wave’s welcoming than her first baby. She strategically avoided sharing his face and his name until over 7 months after his birth, waiting for Apr. 2022 for the big reveal.

Cardi was so excited to give Kulture a little sibling. In a June 2021 maternity shoot with her daughter, the Grammy-winner hoped the kids’ future relationship would mirror her connection to sister Hennessy Carolina. “I just know these two will love each other so much and argue so much since they’re three years apart, just like me and [my sister]. But one thing for sure is they’ll have each other’s back like no one else ever will.”

Still, the star took her time before thinking about her 2nd kid. Back in 2019, a source close to the rap queen revealed EXCLUSIVE details to Hollywood Life. They told the site, that while Cardi “definitely wants to grow her family at some point,” she wanted to take her time. “[She] really wants to make sure the time is right before making a big leap like that,” the insider explained.

Blossom

Cardi revealed she had welcomed a baby girl by sharing the first adorable photos of her newborn with her older children. The star was reunited with Offset in the delivery room and posted more images of the family doting on the new baby—whose name has yet to be announced.

“The prettiest lil thing 🌸🌸 9/7/24 💖💖💖,” Cardi wrote via Instagram on Thursday, September 12, alongside a slideshow of photos and videos from her hospital room.

The rapper announced her pregnancy on Instagram in August 2024, sharing her excitement and gratitude: “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you; you have brought me more love, more life, and most of all, renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!” she wrote, addressing her third child. “You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion!”

She continued: “I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns, and tests lying down, but you, your brother, and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

Cardi B’s Stepkids

Not only is Cardi a great mom to her own kids, but she was also a stepmother to Offset’s three other children. The “Motorsport” rapper shares son Jordan with Justine Watson, son Kody with Oriel Jamie, and daughter Kalea with Shya L’Amour.

The rapper loves her stepkids and told Vogue, Offset’s other children were anything but a dealbreaker. “When I was pregnant with Kulture, a lot of people [were] like, ‘Oh, he has three kids already; why would you have a kid with somebody that has three kids?’” she wondered back in Dec. 2019. “It’s like, how is that such a bad thing?

“My dad has eight kids, and we all get along, and it feels better, fuller. And with Offset, I feel like his kids just bring a pop of fun to life when they’re in his house. I actually love it. It brings out a different side of him that I like to see, and I love to see my baby interacting with her siblings. The more the merrier.”

Offset gushed about Cardi’s parenting skills in 2021 during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. “My other kids who ain’t hers… [she] gives them love the same way,” he said. “It’s a beautiful thing.”

Offset and Cardi, however, split in 2024.

Today is Friday, which means there are a ton of new releases to look forward to from some of your favorite Hip-Hop artists. To help you unwind and enjoy the weekend, check out VIBE’s picks of songs and albums you should hear and add to your soundtrack of weekend festivities.

  • Offset – ‘KIARI’

If there were any questions about Offset’s ability to put together a strong, full-length solo album, KIARI puts them all to rest. In the past, his offerings have been bloated and a bit directionless, but this in-depth personal look at his life post-divorce has yielded some of his best solo music in his career.

There is turnup galore, but it is records like “Prada Myself” with Teezo Touchdown, “Enemies,” and “Move On” that shine the brightest. He catered to the women with “Love You Down” and “All Of My Hoes,” and paid homage to Takeoff on “Never Let Go” powered by a soulful John Legend hook.

It is every side of the Atlanta rapper that fans grew to love over the last decade, and a sign that he is as fortified as ever by himself. – Armon Sadler

  • Ghostface Killah – ‘Supreme Clientele 2’

As part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It campaign, Supreme Clientele 2 arrives with heavy expectations—and while it doesn’t eclipse the original, it stands tall as one of the week’s strongest releases.

Ghostface crafts a worthy follow-up soaked in classic Shaolin grit and vivid storytelling. With appearances from Nas, Raekwon, Method Man, and production from Sean C & LV, 4th Disciple, and more, tracks like “Sample 420,” “Curtis May,” “Love Me,” and “The Trial” prove GFK hasn’t lost his touch.

This isn’t nostalgia—it’s a reminder of why his name still rings bells. – Preezy Brown

  • BigXthaPlug – ‘I Hope That You’re Happy’

    BigXthaPlug - 'I Hope That You're Happy'BigXthaPlug - 'I Hope That You're Happy'

BigXthaPlug levels up with I Hope You’re Happy, an 11-track genre-blending statement that bridges gritty Southern rap with country soul in a way that feels bold, fresh, and entirely his own.

Featuring standout collaborations with Darius Rucker on the heartfelt title track, Jelly Roll on the raucous “Box Me Up,” and Luke Combs on the introspective “Pray Hard,” the album effortlessly shifts between raw emotion and swagger.

It’s a testament to BigX’s versatility and vision, and a successful crossover moment that’s sure to intrigue longtime fans and new listeners alike. – PB

  • Doja Cat – “Jealous Type”

Doja Cat keeps the momentum sky-high with “Jealous Type,” a slick, moody single produced by Jack Antonoff and Y2K that effortlessly blends her signature bite with pop polish.

First teased in her Marc Jacobs Summer ’25 campaign, the track doubles as a stylish preview of Vie, her upcoming fifth studio album dropping September 26th.

With a glossy LA-set video directed by Boni Mata and her massive Ma Vie World Tour on the horizon, “Jealous Type” only amplifies the anticipation—Doja’s next era is shaping up to be her boldest yet. – PB

Lupe Fiasco refuses to let the heat die down with Samurai DX, a sharp, five-track refresh of his stellar 2024 album Samurai.

Breathing new life into highlights like “Samurai,” “Palaces,” and “Bigfoot” with remixes—and adding fresh sparks with “High Note” featuring Luv Moore and a Troy Tyler-assisted “Bigfoot”—the Chicago wordsmith proves his pen remains as precise as ever.

With Side B offering instrumentals on vinyl, Samurai DX isn’t just a companion piece—it’s a reimagined victory lap that fans of lyricism and innovation will devour. – PB

  • Flo Milli Featuring Coop – “Perfect Person”

Flo Milli Feat. Coop “Perfect Person” cover artFlo Milli Feat. Coop “Perfect Person” cover art

Flo Milli excels at energetic trap bops and slow sensual ballads, but “Perfect Person” featuring Coop displays her continual evolution as an artist.

This one is for the booty shakers, though there are slower dance breaks that lean more toward pop or alternative music. All of these elements come together for an anthem reflecting on the difficulties in love. No, we aren’t perfect, but we can be worth it.

They get their flexes off too, reveling in the fact men can’t leave them alone. It’s good to hear more from Flo, and hopefully an LP is on the way over the next year. – AS

  • Joey Bada$$ – “Dark Aura”

Joey Bada$$ “Dark Aura” cover artJoey Bada$$ “Dark Aura” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 Columbia Records, a Division of Sony Music Entertainment, under exclusive license from Pro Era / Cinematic Music Group

Joey Bada$$ “Dark Aura” perfectly encapsulates the year that he has had, though it contrasts the bright star he has become.

This record is just shy of three minutes, yet loaded with lush, polished production and animated bars. He has truly been rapping like the rent is due and he needs to win a talent show to get the money.

Of course, he is a veteran and been doing this for a while, but something about 2025 feels like he is on his best run ever. That’s the beauty of rap; the people who commit to the craft and have something to work toward get better. – AS

  • French Montana & Cash Cobain – “Pack U Up”

French Montana & Cash Cobain “Pack U Up” cover artFrench Montana & Cash Cobain “Pack U Up” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 Coke Boys Records

Who could have predicted they would hear French Montana and Cash Cobain on a flip of Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s “T.R.O.Y.”?

Expect the unexpected with these two, and “Pack U Up” is the quintessential energy needed as the “summer” winds down. Their chemistry is seamless, and this intergenerational linkup blends two artists who crafted sounds catered to women.

Hip-Hop lately is trying to revert to having fun and activating the ladies, and it is much needed. “Pack U Up” has the bounce, bop, lines, and perfect artists to do so. It is a loaded release weekend, but this track is a standout. – AS

  • Chef Boy, E-40 – “Show Out”

Chef Boy & E-40 “Show Out” cover artChef Boy & E-40 “Show Out” cover art

Chef Boy and E-40’s “Show Out” feels like 2025’s version of “Tell Me When To Go” in all of the best ways. It is a bass-heavy, car-rattling, hyphy anthem.

Chef Boy ascends, and E-40 reminds us that there is no West Coast without the E. Of course, that region has been on a tear for the last year, but it has primarily been one guy and one sound.

It is refreshing to hear this sound have a resurgence and E-40 remind people he is just as capable as ever of making a strong record. “Show Out” is a mantra and a lifestyle. – AS

Happy New Music Friday! The weekend is here, which means more streaming, new playlists and the best that music has to offer — and ET has you covered for everything in between.

Earlier this week, Taylor Swift announced two new vinyl editions for her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl: The Shiny Bug Edition. Available in two colors — wintergreen onyx and violet shimmer — the marbled Shiny Bug vinyl records feature exclusive cover art depicting Swift wearing a dark, sparkly leotard with flared spikes and matching gloves. On August 21, she posted another countdown and unveiled another vinyl variant. The new “Baby, That’s Show Business” edition comes in two disc colors — lovely bouquet orange and lakeside beach blue.

Mariah Carey will receive the coveted Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her biggest hits at the 2025 MTV VMAs. She will return to the VMAs stage for the first time in 20 years. Busta Rhymes will receive the first-ever MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award and Ricky Martin will become the first-ever artist to receive the Latin Icon Award. Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin feat DJ Snake, Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez, Ricky Martin, Sabrina Carpenter and sombr have been announced as the first round of performers. The awards hosted by LL Cool J will air September 7 on CBS, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+.

CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced a new five year deal to broadcast the American Music Awards on CBS and stream the show live on Paramount+. The 52nd American Music Awards will return with a must-see live show Memorial Day Weekend, May 2026 from Las Vegas.

Produced by Live Nation, the newly announced performances will be on February 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, and 15. The band shared, “We are overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of love and support over these past few weeks. To our fans who have been with us for the past 30 years – and to all the new fans who’ve recently joined us – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You asked for more, and we can’t wait to deliver with more Sphere shows in 2026. Get those white outfits ready — this is going to be larger than life.”

Blake Shelton has announced he is returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, with eight performances scheduled from January 15-31, 2026. Blake shared, “We had so much fun earlier this year, I figured – why not do it again. This time we’re gonna do it more country, with more cocktails, and probably make a few more questionable decisions. Let’s go, Vegas.”

Doja Cat has returned with new single “Jealous Type” which was produced by Jack Antonoff and Y2K. The song will appear on her highly anticipated fifth studio album, Vie, out September 26. Doja Cat has also announced her first-ever tour across New Zealand, Australia and Asia with the Ma Vie World Tour, launching November 18 in Auckland. The tour will include stops in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Manila, Toyko and more, before wrapping on December 21.

Offset Skewers His Opps and Searches For Solace

On “Back in the Mode,” a smooth banger on his stellar new album Kiari, Offset admits, ”Lost a bitch last year and got another one,” making it clear that he feels like getting more than a few things off his chest. Having suffered a public divorce from Cardi B last July, those bars home in on what many listeners have wanted to know. Even more to the point, “Move On,” the album’s fiery last song finds Offset quipping, “You fucked around with the wrong dude/Hope your next nigga will be great.” But you’d be mistaken if you thought that he’s just about drama here. Finding solace and looking inward are some of Offset’s objectives on this fluid follow-up to 2023’s Set It Off, in addition to skewering his opps with the barbs he’s always good for.

Since Donald Glover’s Golden Globes assertion, in 2017, that “Bad and Boujee” is “the best song ever,” the whole planet has known that the mild-voiced rapper is that dude. Indeed, every time you hear “Raindrops, droptop,” it immediately follows that you’re about to hear some top-tier bars. Offset is the ne plus ultra of verbal polish. No doubt, craft, finesse, and professionalism are evident in his lithesome, always-in-pocket raps. He gave us some real lyrical oomph on Father of 4, his 2019 solo album, but much of that project seemed centered around family matters. And some fans may have desired more of the unadulterated flames he spit on bangers like “Slippery.” Though Set It Off debuted at number 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart, it struck even less of a balance, jumping off with restless skippables like the shmaltzy “Fan.” Fortunately, Kiari underscores Offset’s critical gifts, tapping into his chutzpah while demonstrating even more growth.

Energy and shit talk propel the bass-suffused “Professional,” where the Northside, Atlanta native brags, “Head of the food chain, the top of the top/Kickin’ shit — Louis Cane — I cannot flop.” And it’s great to hear him this focused, floating over the track’s infectious snares and ready flutes. Even though he’s traveled the world and made a ton of hits, Offset is still close enough to the streets to remember “I had to go trap and go kick me a door ‘fore I ever had rapped to a fan.” Similarly, the J.I.D-assisted “Bodies” is informed by the “Bad and Boujee” rapper’s byzantine observation that “I keep a stick or a blicky in case it get sticky.”

If he didn’t, on “Back in the Mode,” insist that he’s got “another one,” you would wonder who Offset refers to on the lush heater, “Love You Down,” but, anyway, he’s “coming to visit no matter how long I’ll be gone.” The cool, quiet-storm ambiance gives this ballad an Eighties slow-dance feel. And he raps with both compassion and conviction. Offset is a better balladeer than we give him credit for. (Typically, Quavo gets the top melody-maker love, and rightfully so.) But “Love You Down” is more earnest and smooth than just about any of his big R&B-informed missives. The “On Fleek” MC’s tuneful crooning on “Set It Off” is instantly hummable. His verses on this Kiari highlight are nothing to sneeze at either, as he’s, fortuitously, brought back that trenchant stop-motion “Bad and Boujee” flow, revealing, “I’m pullin’ up trim/stepping out/You getting money like who/Boy, cut it out.”

Regrettably, “All My Hoes,” with its sleepy hacienda vibe, comes up short. As does the treacly “Calories,” where Offset raps in a geeky, affected tone toward the song’s end. Still, “Prada By Myself,” boasting cavernous, Liquid Liquid–style bass and a soaring Teezo Touchdown hook, gives us some needed introspection with such insights as, “Nigga turned friend to a foe/But I had to learn to let it go/Coming like a man as a pro.” Offset has never been more on.
