Sabrina Carpenter Will Make Grand Ole Opry Debut in October

Honestly, the fiddle solo on “Go Go Juice” alone deserves an Opry moment

Do you want the Grand Ole Opry tour? On Friday, the storied Nashville institution announced that Sabrina Carpenter will be making her Opry debut on Oct. 7, in time for its centennial anniversary.

Along with Carpenter, Laci Kaye Booth, Kameron Marlowe, and more artists to be announced will be added to the lineup for the day, which will be announced soon.

Carpenter has effortlessly included country elements in much of her music in the past. She dabbled in country with some of the songs on both Short ‘n Sweet and Man’s Best Friend, even featuring Dolly Parton on the former’s “Please Please Please” remix. There’s a touch of fiddle, banjo, and a country accent that sneaks out of Carpenter in her voice on songs like “Slim Pickins” and “Go Go Juice.”

Oh, and how could we forget? She performed “That Don’t Impress Me Much” with country queen Shania Twain during her tour, and covered “9 to 5” by Parton (country hat and all!) multiple times during the run.

“Our voices are very similar,” Parton told Rolling Stone for a cover story on Carpenter earlier this year. “I can’t tell sometimes which part’s her and which part’s me. And we look like relatives. She looks like she could be my little sister. We’re little women, doing big things.”

Carpenter’s country music dabbles go farther back than just her most-recent two LPs: Emails I Can’t Send‘s “Bad for Business” country music elements during her live show.

Trending Stories

It’ll be a busy October for Sabrina, who was announced as the double-duty host and musical guest on SNL on Oct. 18. The Opry show will also arrive a few weeks before she returns to her Short ‘n Sweet tour on Oct. 23 in Pittsburgh. She’ll then head to New York City for five shows, before Toronto in early November, before a final six shows

Earlier this week, Coachella announced that Carpenter will be one of the headliners at the 2026 music festival, marking her return after a sunset show in 2024.

What’s Coming in October 2025

Fall TV is in full swing already and is only picking up momentum by October. “Huluween” is still very much celebrated among TV fans, and Disney+ will get in on the action with new “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire.” Plenty of new Hulu originals will make their way to the streamer, including the star-studded “Murdaugh: Death in the Family,” the Korean drama “Tempest,” and the final season of “Solar Opposites.”

And if you’ve paused or not yet started either subscription, new network TV is the perfect excuse to do so (“Abbott Elementary” returns October 2!) — as well as plenty of other films and movies coming to both Hulu and Disney+ in October.

'Depeche Mode: M'

Top Pick: “Murdaugh: Death in the Family” (Hulu)

Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and Alex Murdaugh (Jason Clarke) are the couple at the head of an esteemed South Carolina family whose life is turned upside down when their son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) dies in a boat crash. As the investigation continues into Paul’s death and others, the Murdaugh family’s name comes into question, with the fate of their legacy hanging in the balance. The series comes from Erin Lee Carr and co-creator/ showrunner Michael D. Fuller and is based on the popular “Murdaugh Murders Podcast,” featuring Will Harrison, Brittany Snow, J. Smith-Cameron, Gerald McRaney, and Noah Emmerich in the cast.

Here’s everything else coming to Disney+ and Hulu in October 2025.

“Which one of us will be the new Emperor?” Fathom Entertainment has unveiled a new trailer for the 2025 re-release of the 1980s fantasy classic movie The Dark Crystal, made by Frank Oz & Jim Henson and The Jim Henson Company. Featuring puppets and creatures galore, it’s considered a favorite with many movie geeks who grew up in the 80s. This screening is part of The Jim Henson Company’s 70th Anniversary celebration and features an introduction from Brian Henson, Jim Henson’s son & Chairman of the Board of The Henson Company. The Dark Crystal originally opened in 1982 and celebrated its 40th Anniversary back in 2022 (it’s out on 4K Blu-ray). Jen and Kira, surviving members of the Gelfling tribe, set out to find the crystal’s missing shard and begin a dangerous journey that will bring them face to face with evil Skeksis and mysterious creatures at every turn. Jen and Kira will not back down as they race the clock to save their planet in this masterful live-action fantasy starring some of the most imaginative creatures ever put on film. Starring Stephen Garlick, Lisa Maxwell, Billie Whitelaw, & Percy Edwards. After waiting decades, they finally made a new legacy sequel The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance which is also available on Netflix now. The OG 1982 classic will be back in theaters for two nights only this October – take the kids! Have fun.

Another world, another time… in the age of Wonder. From genius filmmaker Jim Henson comes The Dark Crystal, a masterful live-action fantasy starring some of the most imaginative creatures ever put on film. Many years ago, the mysterious “Crystal” was cracked and an age of chaos began, led by the evil race of Skeksis who rule over the land of Thra. Meanwhile, raised in solitude by a gentle race of creatures called the Mystics, the Gelfling orphan Jen is sent on a quest to find the missing shard that will heal the Crystal and restore balance to the universe. The Dark Crystal is co-directed by two Henson Company filmmakers Jim Henson & Frank Oz, their third feature film at the time following The Muppet Movie (1979) and The Great Muppet Caper (1981). The screenplay is written by David Odell; from a story by Henson. Produced by Jim Henson & Gary Kurtz. Originally released by Universal Pictures in US theaters starting in December 1982 – earning just about $40M in its original run. Fathom Entertainment will re-release The Dark Crystal back in US theaters for two nights only: on October 12th & 13th, 2025 coming up this fall. Who’s going?
