Adele to make acting debut in new Tom Ford movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult and more

Adele is set to make an acting debut in a new film from fashion designer Tom Ford.

The project will mark the third film from Ford, following on from 2009’s adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s novel A Single Man, and the 2016 crime thriller Nocturnal Animals, which starred Amy Adams.

According to reports from Deadline, the upcoming movie will be an adaptation of the 1982 Anne Rice novel, Cry to Heaven. It follows an unlikely duo – a castrated maestro and a Venetian noble – who work together in the hopes of leaving their mark on the opera world.

The outlet reports that Adele is set to make her acting debut in the film, and she will star alongside huge names like Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Thandiwe Newton, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and 15-year-old Owen Cooper. The latter had his breakthrough earlier this year in Netflix’s drama series Adolescence, and went on to become the youngest male Emmy winner.

Adele is currently on hiatus from music after completing a huge residency in Las Vegas and playing a handful of sold-out shows in Munich last year. She has hinted at a shift to acting before, previously suggesting that she was going to take part in the 2018 film The Death and Life of John F Donovan.

Starring Game Of Thrones actor Kit Harington, the drama was written and directed by Xavier Dolan, who had worked with the singer before on the music video for her hit single, ‘Hello’.

“I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier… I would be in a film for him, definitely,” she said at the time (via The Guardian). She would later have her music feature in the soundtrack, but did not take on an acting role.

Tom Ford’s Cry To Heaven is reportedly in pre-production in London and Rome, with shooting set to begin in the new year. The movie is expected to arrive in cinemas later in 2026.

While the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ singer has not lined up any live performances since completing her residency shows, she did get fans talking back in February when she posted a video of her singing along to Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean’s performance at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary concert.

Before then, she left Rachel Chinouriri speechless after sending a bouquet of flowers in congratulations of her BRIT Award nominations, and also “scared off” potential buyers of her former £6million mansion by claiming it was “haunted”.

More recently, Adele had one of her musical records broken by Taylor Swift, following the release of the latter’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.

For the past decade, the London singer has held the record for largest opening week for an album, with her ‘25’ album debuting with 3.378million copies sold. In October, it was reported that ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ sold 3.5million album units in the US alone during its opening week.

‘High Potential’ Pays Tribute To Original Series’ Co-Creator Nicholas Jean

by jummy84 October 29, 2025

High Potential paid tribute to Nicolas Jean during the closing credits of the ABC procedural.

The French screenwriter was one of the co-creators of the series HPI, the original series that inspired the U.S. adaptation starring Kaitlin Olson.

“In Memory of Nicolas Jean,” read the title card at the end of Episode 7 of the series (see below).

It was earlier this month that the French writers’ guild, SACD, announced that Jean had died suddenly on September 29.

“Nicolas Jean entered the industry thirteen years ago and had a meteoric rise. Self-taught, with an atypical background that enriched his fictional stories, he quickly established himself as a talented and essential screenwriter on television,” wrote screenwriter and SACD administrator Florence Philipponnat in a message posted on Instagram.

“He had a gift for freely inventing original concepts, freeing himself from imposed constraints. And he knew how to intelligently surround himself with creative writers to develop them with him, because he was passionate about sharing and generosity.”

HPI: Haut Potential Intellectuel (High Intellectual Potential) was co-created by Nicolas Jean alongside Stéphane Carrié and Alice Chegaray-Breugnot. The series premiered in 2021 and continues producing new episodes. In the U.S., the series is available to stream on Hulu as HIP: High Intellectual Potential.

ABC’s High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillroy, a single mother with an unconventional knack for solving crimes. The cast of the series also includes Daniel Sunjata (Adam Karadec), Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Oz), Amirah J (Ava Gillroy), Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic) and Judy Reyes (Selena Soto). Season 2 of the series added Steve Howey as a series regular playing the precinct’s new captain, Jesse Wagner.

See the title card in memory of Nicolas Jean below.

Morena Baccarin on Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man

by jummy84 October 24, 2025

Morena Baccarin has done her crimefighting homework.

The actress stars in CBS’s new “Fire Country” spinoff “Sheriff Country” as Sheriff Mickey Fox. The procedural follows Mickey as she heads up her small hometown police force while grappling with her daughter’s battle with addiction.

“It’s been so fun to understand law enforcement, to train in that way,” Baccarin tells me on Zoom video during a lunch break on the Ontario, Canada set. “We always have somebody on set with us, helping us with things like if I’m suspecting somebody’s going to come at me and they’re potentially armed and I’m walking out of my car and I’m parking, how do I do it? Do I pull my gun out?”

Removing her gun from a holster takes a lot of practice. “Matt Lauria [he co-stars as deputy Nathan Boone]  and I joke around a lot because half of our time on set is spent practicing pulling the gun out, putting it back in, pulling it out and putting it back in,” Baccarin says. “You want it to be second nature because when you put that gun back in you don’t want to look down to see where it is.”

Not that Baccarin will ever get completely comfortable handling a firearm. “I’ve aways been very scared of guns. I don’t own a gun. I believe if we didn’t have guns at all, then a lot of the stuff that we deal with would not be happening,” she says. “But I have a new respect for it. Everybody who has been teaching us has been incredibly respectful about the weapon and when you use it, when you touch it, what you do with it and how to handle it.”

Baccarin says she was sure she wouldn’t be cast on the show when she told producers she would only sign on if production moved from its planned West Coast location to the East Coast because she wanted to be closer to her family, husband Ben McKenzie and their three kids, in New York. “I 100% thought the job was going away once I said that,” she says, adding, “I think that was a big moment for me to realize that I am valuable enough for them to make that concession. It also sets up a really nice work relationship, not just that they want me, but that we are partners in this.”

Baccarin reflects on being a working mom in Hollywood. “You’re definitely letting somebody down sometimes, at all times, whenever,” she says. “You come to work without having done enough work at home. You miss a birthday, so you make up for something by having a day off and doing more than you should. It’s a mess. But I try to remind them that even if we’re not together, I’m thinking of them, that they’re a part of me, and that it makes me a better mom if I can do what I love, and that one day they’ll understand that.”

Baccarin is a familiar face in the superhero world. Her voicework for animated projects is prolific, but her most prominent role is that of Vanessa Carlysle in the “Deadpool” movies. “It’s been such a long journey. I can’t it’s almost 10 years since we shot the first one,” she says. “I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that that’s what it would have turned out to be. We had so much fun shooting it. It was such a fun world. I hope that I get to do more of it and participate a little bit more than the last one [“Deadpool & Wolverine”]. But I understood that it was the bro comedy.”

Her superhero resume expands with her role as The Sorceress in the upcoming live-action “Masters of the Universe” opposite Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man.

She says of Galitzine’s muscled-up transformation for the role, “It’s insane. I saw him on set and he’d been training for months and months and months, I was like, ‘Oh, my god, how did you do that?’”

Joining the film was a no-brainer for Baccarin. “I grew up watching He-Man, my brother and I, so it was a really big part of my childhood,” she says, smiling. “It was really cool once I got there and saw the costume and what they had in mind for me — the whole get-up and the wig and contacts and all of it. I’m so excited to see what they make of it because I feel like my part of it was just such a small element to what it’s going to actually be in the end.”

Prime Video has officially released Red, White & Royal Wedding, the long-awaited sequel to its worldwide LGBTQ+ rom-com success Red, White & Royal Blue. After the original received a tidal wave of fan affection, the follow-up will further explore the touching romance of Prince Henry of Britain and Alex Claremont-Diaz, the United States’ First Son.

Actors Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine will reprise their fan-favourite roles as Alex and Henry, while director Jamie Babbit — known for But I’m a Cheerleader — steps in to helm the project. Matthew López, who directed the original film, returns as co-writer and producer, alongside bestselling author Casey McQuiston and screenwriter Gemma Burgess.

The original movie was a cultural hit, admired for its humor, emotional resonance, and affirming queer portrayals. Viral moments, fan illustrations, and TikTok edits propelled Red, White & Royal Blue into one of the most-viewed Amazon Prime romantic comedies, particularly in India.

Red, White & Royal Wedding follows the next chapter of Alex and Henry’s journey to forever as they dive into royal customs, self-discovery, and the scrutiny of life in the public eye.

Director Jamie Babbit stated, “After But I’m a Cheerleader, I’m delighted to return to queer love stories. We all need this type of optimism and gay joy.” López further stated, “It’s been a pleasure to co-write the next chapter. Jamie brings the perfect mix of wit and heart.

Author Casey McQuiston revealed, “Jamie has the sensitivity to care about Alex and Henry’s tale. I am waiting for the fans to see what’s next.”

As a celebration of love without borders set to be, the sequel reiterates that romance, even between politics and royalty, is always worth fighting for.

Nicholas Hoult has announced he will miss his scheduled appearance at the upcoming New York Comic-Con after undergoing knee surgery that has left him unable to walk or fly.

Nicholas Hoult has announced he will miss his scheduled appearance at the upcoming New York Comic-Con after undergoing knee surgery that has left him unable to walk or fly

In a video message shared on Comic-Con’s official Instagram page, the 35-year-old actor apologised to fans for his absence.

He said: “I’m so sorry to tell you that I won’t be able to join you this time. Unfortunately, I had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago and I can’t walk or fly yet, so I’m not going to be able to make it.

“I was really looking forward to it, so I’m sorry.”

Nicholas continued: “I hope you have a wonderful weekend and hopefully I’ll be joining you in the near future and get to see you all soon.”

The actor was due to appear on a highly anticipated X-Men reunion panel alongside his former co-star James McAvoy.

Nicholas first portrayed mutant scientist Hank McCoy – known as Beast – in X-Men: First Class in 2011 and went on to reprise the role in several sequels, including Days of Future Past and Dark Phoenix.

He was also set to discuss his latest role as Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in the upcoming film Superman, part of the new DC Universe series of movies.

His casting was announced earlier this year, generating significant attention from both comic-book fans and film critics.

While Nicholas did not reveal details about his surgery, medical experts often advise against flying soon after knee operations due to the potential risk of deep vein thrombosis.

Recovery times can vary depending on the procedure, with some patients advised to wait up to three months before travelling by air.

New York Comic-Con runs from 9 to 12 October and attracts thousands of attendees each year.

Nicholas had been expected to participate in fan events and interviews throughout the weekend.

Away from his superhero roles, Nicholas has built a diverse career across film and television.

He began acting as a child and gained early acclaim for his breakout performance in the 2002 film About a Boy alongside Hugh Grant.

He later became known for his role as Tony Stonem in the teen drama Skins, before establishing himself in Hollywood with major roles in Mad Max: Fury Road, The Great and The Menu.
