Vince Vaughn in Nic Pizzolatto’s Las Vegas Film

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Lou “Easy” Evans isn’t a particularly gifted singer, but he’s got swagger and pizzaz and panache, and a real gift for choosing the songs he croons on various little stages around the slightly scuzzier side of Las Vegas. Tiny bars and iffy lounges and downbeat casinos are his domain, and set lists full of upbeat jams (Whitney Houston and Stevie Nicks, Mike and the Mechanics and Pat Benatar, oh my!) turned into real heartbreakers are his currency.

Being the biggest star on The Strip has never been his goal, but he’d sure like the opportunity to not feel like such a loser all the time, not to have to scrape by for every penny. And in Vegas? That kind of optimism — “I’d like to have a paid off credit card bill!” — is a liability.

"Calle Malaga"

It’s “another magical day here in Las Vegas, Nevada” when Nic Pizzolatto’s surprisingly low-key feature directorial debut “Easy’s Waltz” opens, though you wouldn’t know it from the Evans brothers. Easy (Vince Vaughn) is gearing up for another throwaway show with his band, The Grifters, in a “budget-friendly” downtown Vegas joint. Sam (Simon Rex) has slinked off to a dim bar, rather than doing his actual job (managing Easy and other local acts), and his eyes light up when he spots a pretty gal (Kate Mara as Lucy) across the way.

And while, as Sam tells it, “the number one rule is to know when to leave the fucking casino,” that doesn’t seem to be happening for either of the Evans men. In a city of people always hoping for the next big score, they’re no different than anyone else, but time is running out, patience is wearing thin, and something has to change. Their luck, it seems, has to turn. Right? Talk about a gamble.

Despite the dire-sounding set-up of Pizzolatto’s film (he also wrote the film’s script), “Easy’s Waltz” isn’t nearly as downbeat as most might expect from the guy behind “True Detective,” but grinding it out in Vegas is never a walk in the park. Not nearly as dark — or deep-feeling — as last year’s “beloved star takes on a vibe shift in a Vegas-set drama,” what “Easy’s Waltz” has in common with that Pamela Anderson vehicle is obvious enough: a solid turn from its star. Vaughn pours himself into the role, but he also seems to understand that going big and broad for this one is a misstep. Easy isn’t a caricature, even if the people and events around him increasingly feel that way.

When Easy catches the eye of local manager (and much, much more) Mickey Albano (a well-cast Al Pacino), his star is suddenly on the rise. Mickey books him into a residency at the swanky Wynn Casino, passing the whole thing off as part of his newfound interest in giving back to the little people, not his bone-deep interest in looking out for himself. Entanglements abound: Mickey is also friendly with Lucy, whom Sam pretends not to know, if only because he’s got the good sense not to show Mickey all his cards. And when Sam cooks up a truly stupid scheme to make some quick cash, there’s little doubt a heavy like Mickey isn’t going to like it.

What Easy lacks up for in obvious vocal ability — though everyone around him, especially Sam, is always quick to remind him he’s the best singer in town — he more than makes up for with flash. But that sort of flash is not the most natural fit for Pizzolatto, whose own sensibility seems to be at odds with the story at hand. Tonal disparities are often on offer, with Pizzolatto going for darker stuff (someone is gonna break your legs, sucka!) and Vaughn infusing the whole thing with non-stop, hangdog charm. Easy is the kind of dude who sings “The Little Drummer Boy” like it’s the saddest song in the world, but that’s not good enough for Pizzolatto, who opts to shoot that performance in black and white, because why not.

Despite the various dramas that swirl around this group of Vegas locals and wannabes, “Easy’s Waltz” meanders toward the bulk of its real punch, with its plot only kicking in long past its halfway mark. By then, Easy has become a viral hit, Sam has dug himself in way too deep, and Mickey is itching to show his true colors. Audiences might almost be eager to hear a classic limb-breaking threat by then, because far too much of this has been, well, a bit too easy going down.

Grade: B-

“Easy’s Waltz” premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. It is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

Ace didn’t hold back, making it clear that Nic didn’t make the cut. But he did say Olandria and Taylor — who’s currently coupled with Clarke did.

After Ace’s interview aired, Nic hopped on Snapchat to answer questions about his mental health. When one fan asked, “How is your mental state rn?” He replied, “Much better than yesterday” alongside a selfie of himself. Nic’s response comes after Ace claimed to be standing on business, saying Nic told him there’s really no connection between him and Olandria — it’s all just physical attraction.

Whew, Roommates! Season 7 of ‘Love Island USA’ might be over, but the tea is still spilling outside of the villa. The internet is in shambles after Olandria seemingly clapped back at comments made by her fellow castmate, Ace Greene’s interview with Speedy Morman. Ace gave Speedy an alleged update on where Olandria and Nic stand, and now folks think she has subliminally reacted to his comments. Chile, let’s get into it!

Ace Greene Speaks On Olandria & Nic, Now Fans Think She Responded

Speedy Morman recently sat down with Ace Greene for an exclusive interview, and the convo already has folks talking. Ace appeared to air some things out following the ‘Love Island USA’ season 7 reunion and even clocked Nic and Olandria’s relationship while he was at it. Well, it looks like Olandria might’ve peeped his comments, because she hopped on social media with a few words of her own. Right now she hasn’t confirmed if she was taking shots at Ace, but fans definitely think so after she wrote: “Chile anyway.. my event at Tuskegee went amazing yesterday.”

Here’s What Ace Said About Nic & Olandria’s Relationship

Olandria’s subliminal post comes after Ace sat down with Speedy Morman. Ace wasted no time cuttin’ UP and spilling tea now that he’s out of the villa. When Speedy asked if he thinks Olandria and Nic’s relationship is real, Ace stayed quiet at first. However, he went on to admit that after chopping it up with Nic, there’s really no romantic spark between them. “They just find each other attractive,” Ace added.

Additionally, Ace said knowing that info is tough for him because he considers Olandria to be a close friend. Furthermore, Ace admitted who he thinks truly found love in the villa and he said Taylor and Clarke without a doubt. But when it comes to whether some of the other couple’s are the real deal, he kept his lips sealed.

Is Alabama Barker Team Huda?

‘Love Island USA’ has been such a hot topic this summer that even celebs have been chiming in on the show and its cast. While the reunion continues to trend on social media, Alabama Barker slid into The Shade Room to drop her two cents on all the chatter about Huda. She said she thinks the cast is just salty about Huda, but she knows she’s destined for greatness. “Half of the cast is jealous and very intimated by her, she will go far!” Alabama wrote.

Todd Chrisley Gets Emotional Over Nic Kerdiles’ Death and Wishing Savannah Married Him

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Nearly two years after Nic Kerdiles was killed in a motorcycle crash, Todd Chrisley is speaking about the tragedy for the first time. The late former hockey player was engaged to Todd’s daughter Savannah Chrisley before they split in 2021, and Todd formed a close relationship with him during the pair’s time together.

“Out of respect for the love that we have for him, I will tell you, it was the hardest thing that I have ever dealt with in my life,” Todd admitted on the Chrisley Confessions 2.0 podcast. “For those of you who don’t know, Nic Kerdiles was one of the finest, funniest, kindest young men, and I so wanted he and Savannah to be married. I wanted grandchildren, and that didn’t come to pass.”

Savannah was visiting her father in prison when she learned that Nic had died in September 2023. Although almost two years have passed, Todd said his heart is still “not healed.” He also told listeners that he’s “never talking about” this topic again and gave some insight into the relationship he maintained with Nic, even after his split from Savannah.

“Even when they broke up, I still had lunch with Nic,” Todd shared. “I still talked to Nic every day.” Julie Chrisley noted that Nic supported the family amid Todd and Julie’s legal issues, and Todd added, “He and Savannah were no longer together, but he was still there for us.”

Todd and Julie began their prison sentences for tax evasion and bank and wire fraud in January 2023. They were released in May after being fully pardoned by Donald Trump.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of [Nic],” Todd said. “I think I still grieve what could have been because I had always hoped that they would find their way back.”
