Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s body of work has been as varied as it gets- from the gritty Sacred Games, to the universally acclaimed Gangs of Wasseypur, to the dark Raman Raghav 2.0. And now, he’s set for Thamma, a horror-comedy alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

In a chat with HT City, he tells us he is just glad that this will be the first film that his children- daughter Shora and son Yani, will be able to watch him in! “Mujhe Thamma ke liye excitement isiliye bhi hai kyunki voh world jahaan pe humne shoot kiya hai, voh sirf humne dant kathaaon mein pehle padha tha. And plus, the kind of films I do, kids can’t watch them. Yeh pehli film hai jo mere bachche dekh paayenge!,” laughs the 51-year-old.

Thamma is another installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) created by Dinesh Vijan. Nawazuddin is all praises for the way the universe has shaped up so far, with Stree and Munjya. “If you look at this universe, from Stree till now, the set of talented actors you get to see in a horror film, didn’t used to happen for horror films before. Aise actors ko ikathha karna kamaal hai,” he adds.

Thamma Trailer Out! ‘Alok’ Ayushmann Khurrana Fights ‘Yakshasan’ Nawazuddin Siddiqui For His Love ‘Taraka’ Rashmika Mandanna Amid Bloodshed And Comedy- Watch

The trailer for Maddock Films’ magnum opus, Thamma, plunges us straight into a BLOODY world where love bleeds, legends awaken, and humour turns too relatable. Rashmika Mandanna’s Tadaka revives a thousand-year-old legend, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Yakshaashan makes a bone-chilling declaration, and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Alok finds himself with bloodshot eyes, no pulse, sunlight burning his skin. From there, the trailer explodes into a never-before-seen spectacle with VFX that can only be called LEGENDARY: beasts unleashed, moments of action and horror seamlessly balanced with Maddock Films’ signature comic timing. And at its heart lies a love story – bloody, wild, and unforgettable – making Thamma a complete entertainer that families can enjoy together this festive season.

Thamma Trailer Out

In addition to the trailer, Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films also revealed the visual identity of Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU), giving fans their first look at the evolving cinematic world that began with Stree and now expands in a bigger, bloodier way with Thamma. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma blends horror, action, comedy, and romance into a cinematic experience unlike anything before.

With an ensemble cast including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, and Geeta Agrawal, the film promises a Diwali spectacle of epic proportions.

Dinesh Vijan On Thamma

Dinesh Vijan, founder of Maddock Films and producer of Thamma, says, “The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe began with Stree and has grown with Bhediya and Munjya. With Thamma, we aimed to take the universe to its next stage – not just in terms of story, but also in terms of scale, ambition, and technology. For us, the goal has always been to draw inspiration from Indian folklore for our characters. It’s a forgotten Indian story we have revived. Today, with the reveal of the visual identity of the MHCU, we are committing to a long-term vision of telling Indian stories for Indian and global audiences.”

Ayushmann Khurrana On Thamma

Ayushmann Khurrana says, “Becoming a part of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock horror-comedy universe is a thrilling step in my journey as an actor. This genre has always fascinated me because it pushes boundaries – it makes you laugh, scares you, and yet touches your heart. In Thamma, I play Alok – a man who never asked for the extraordinary, but is forced to confront it. He’s flawed, vulnerable, and ambitious, and suddenly, he’s carrying the weight of powers he doesn’t fully understand.”

He added, “What excites me most is that this film is an entertainer, one that families across generations can watch and enjoy together this Diwali. Under Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik’s vision, Aditya Sarpotdar’s storytelling, and with the brilliant energies of Rashmika, Nawaz bhai, and Paresh ji, we’ve built something that I believe will define the next chapter of Indian cinema’s horror-comedy space. And trust me, this trailer is just a glimpse of the madness you are going to see on screen. The universe is only getting bigger from here.”

Amar Kaushik On Thamma

Co-producer Amar Kaushik adds, “What excites me most about the MHCU is how we, in every film, add something new while staying rooted in India’s cultural DNA. Thamma is the first love story we have created in this universe, and who doesn’t love a love story? When audiences watch Thamma, they will see it has the right amount of horror, humour, and heart. Something that we at Maddock have always stood for. It is a total family entertainer that I am sure families will love watching this Diwali.”

Rashmika Mandanna On Thamma

Rashmika Mandanna, who has worked with Maddock Films before but, for the first time, will be seen as part of the MHCU. She said, “Thamma is a very special film for me because it brings together horror, comedy, folklore, and even a love story rooted in India. Playing Tadaka has been both challenging and exciting, as she’s an age-old legend brought to life anew. I’m thankful to Maddock Films for giving me this opportunity once again, and I’m really looking forward to everyone experiencing Thamma.”

Aditya Sarpotdar On Thamma

Aditya Sarpotdar, director, added, “With Munjya, we tapped into folklore to create a horror-comedy that felt rooted yet entertaining. Thamma takes the universe forward in an unexpected way – it’s scarier, funnier, and at its heart, a twisted love story. Being part of the MHCU is exciting because each film adds a new layer, and with Thamma, audiences will see just how wild this universe can get.”

The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe already includes blockbusters like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, and with Thamma, the universe grows bigger, bloodier, and bolder. With the new visual identity now revealed, fans can expect many more exciting chapters to come. So this October 21, watch Thamma in cinemas- Maddock Films’ most ambitious Horror-Comedy crossover yet.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reveals His Raman Raghav 2.0 Character ‘Never Really Left’ Him

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Nawazuddin Siddiqui stands tall as one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, renowned for his extraordinary versatility and the profound depth he brings to every role. With his unparalleled craft, he has earned a distinctive place in the industry, often evoking comparisons to the legendary late Irrfan Khan. One amongst many was Ramanna from Raman Raghav 2.0 a serial killer.

While he shooked everyone with his incredible performance, the actor was recently seen opening about different nuances of the character. Read on to know what he shared.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui On His Raman Raghav 2.0 Character

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently asked about his role in Raman Raghav 2.0, how does he feel about his character and how there are very less people who can do it with such finesse. Answering this, the actor said, “When I got that role, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. It wasn’t the kind of role you could just show up and perform casually. It demanded serious mental and emotional preparation.”

He continued, “To get into that mindset, I isolated myself. I stayed in a resort in Lonavala for 5–6 days. Just to believe one line from the script: ‘I eat, drink, sleep, and kill. It doesn’t matter to me. I don’t even feel pain. You kill with the justification of humanity or religion—I kill just because.’ That was extremely hard for me to believe in. Because I’m not that person.”

Nawazuddin further added, “I’ve never even raised my hand on someone, never scolded anyone. And here I had to become a man who kills without remorse. I knew I couldn’t fake it—I had to believe it, even if just for those scenes. Only after that internal shift happened, I return to Mumbai to shoot. I stepped on set fully convinced, at least for those moments, that I could do it. It was one of the most difficult roles I’ve ever taken on.”

Nawazuddin: That Experience Never Really Left Me

Further talking about how and why actors get too much into the character he said, “When an actor is truly serious about their craft—when they’re vulnerable and committed—that intensity reflects on screen. People sometimes ask, ‘Why do actors go so deep?’ But that depth, that seriousness, is what breathes life into a performance. This role was so psychologically complex that it affected me physically too.”

He continued, “At one point, I fell seriously ill during filming. I was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital, completely unconscious. Later, I was told that even in that state, I kept repeating Raman Raghav’s dialogues. I don’t remember any of it—but that’s how deep it had gone. After 8–10 days, I recovered and returned to finish the film. But that experience… it never really left me.”

On the work front, Nawazuddin will be seen in Raat Akeli Hai 2 and Thama.
