Mac Miller, Young Thug, VisionPlay, Moneybagg Yo & G Herbo, BabyChiefDoIt, and more stars also dropped new tunes.

Today is Friday, which means there are a ton of new releases to look forward to from some of your favorite Hip-Hop artists. To help you unwind and enjoy the weekend, check out VIBE’s picks of songs and albums you should hear and add to your soundtrack of weekend festivities.

  • Hit-Boy, The Alchemist – ‘GOLDFISH’

With GOLDFISH, Hit-Boy and The Alchemist prove that Theodore & Andre was only the opening act for something more ambitious. The new full-length builds on that foundation with a sharper focus on dual artistry — two producer-turned-rappers who refuse to treat the mic as a novelty.

From the introspective “Celebration Moments,” where Alchemist declares, “Was once a student, my job is now to teach,” to Hit-Boy’s tightly wound bars on “Business Merger,” every verse feels deliberate, not decorative.

Conway the Machine’s fiery guest turn on “Mick & Cooley” adds an East Coast edge, while Boldy James and Big Hit help round out a lineup that feels both familial and formidable.

Supported by the Isaac Garcia–directed video for “Ricky” and Abteen Bagheri’s cinematic GOLDFISH short film, the album expands beyond music into a fully realized vision.

In an era where producers increasingly try their hand at rapping, Hit-Boy and Alchemist stand apart — treating the craft not as a side hustle, but as an art form with purpose and precision. “Two of the best on the coast of the West,” indeed – Preezy Brown

  • Big L Featuring Nas – “U Ain’t Gotta Chance”

Big L Featuring Nas - "U Ain't Gotta Chance" Cover ArtBig L Featuring Nas - "U Ain't Gotta Chance" Cover Art

“U Ain’t Gotta Chance,” the lead single from Harlem’s Finest: Return of the King, is nothing short of a lyrical epic — a collision of two masters at their sharpest.

Over haunting, cinematic production from G Koop, 2one2, Al Hug, and Mike H, Big L’s venomous bars — “139 is where I’m from, bro… findin’ you with shells from my 9 in you” — crackle with that unmistakable Harlem grit.

Nas matches the energy with cerebral precision, weaving legacy and business acumen into his verse, rhyming, “I’m the first in rap to form a venture cap’… My voice a needle in wax, gets the Devil attacked.”

The result is a track that feels timeless — both a tribute to hip-hop’s golden age and proof that L was years ahead of his era.

With Harlem’s Finest dropping on Oct. 31, the date feels poetic: Halloween for a rapper who made horrific acts and the ills of urban decay sound like art.

  • Megan Thee Stallion – “Lover Girl”

Megan Thee Stallion slides back into solo mode with “Lover Girl,” a sultry, hypnotic groove that reimagines Total’s 1996 R&B classic “Kissin You” through her signature Houston flair.

Produced by Jacobdior, the track folds in bounce-heavy energy from HaSizzle’s “Bounce It” and silky vocal textures from BJ So Cole, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh. Meg leans fully into her sensual side here — confident, playful, and effortlessly magnetic.

Following April’s “Whenever,” “Lover Girl” feels like a smooth, slow-burn reminder of why The Hotties stay devoted: Megan knows how to make heat sound like honey. – PB

Nas Reveals Where He Stands On Super Bowl Halftime Show Performances

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

While many artists dream of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Hip-Hop icon Nas recently revealed that he has no interest in joining that elite list—despite being more than qualified.

In a conversation with Complex, the Queensbridge native was asked about potentially performing at the NFL’s biggest stage, and his response was refreshingly candid.

“Nah, I don’t want to do … I can’t say I don’t want to do the Super Bowl, but I don’t,” Nas admitted. “Why would I do that? Leave it to the professionals. Leave it to the pros. I’m a pro at what I do.”

Known for his lyrical depth and cultural impact, Nas explained that he’s more comfortable in the role of an observer when it comes to the Super Bowl spectacle.

He offered praise for recent performers, acknowledging the quality of the show in recent years. “I want to watch dope halftime shows and that’s what has been happening lately so salute to all of them,” he said, referencing standout Super Bowl sets from Usher, Dr. Dre, Rihanna, and Kendrick Lamar.

Although Nas may not see himself on that stage, many would argue that few are more deserving. With a career spanning three decades, 20 studio albums, and a legacy that includes classics like Illmatic, the 52-year-old has remained a force in Hip-Hop and beyond.

His humility aside, the conversation comes at a time when the NFL continues to embrace more diverse talent.

Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California—marking a historic moment as the first solo act primarily performing in Spanish to take center stage.

Nas may be sitting this one out, but his presence in Hip-Hop culture remains as powerful as ever.

Nas Calls Kendrick Lamar “The North Star of Hip-Hop”

@the.jasmine.brand : Nas is giving Kendrick Lamar his flowers.

While reflecting on his song “Watch the Party Die,” the rap legend compared Kendrick to the “North Star,” calling him one of the brightest lights guiding hip-hop’s future.

“Kendrick is one of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen,” Nas tells Rolling Stone. “Not just a superstar — he’s like the North Star.”

Nas went on to praise Kendrick for protecting the integrity of the culture, saying that while some artists aren’t truly in it for the art, Kendrick consistently steps up to defend it.

“When we see people not here for the art, they’re damaging the future of it,” he explained. “Artists like Kendrick speak out — he reminds us where we’re lacking.”

Lil Nas X's Father Blames Fame for Son's Recent Breakdown and Arrest

Lil Nas X’s Father Blames Fame for Son’s Recent Breakdown and Arrest

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Lil Nas X‘s father, Robert Stafford, has spoken out following the arrest of his son last week. Stafford discussed the incident with The Times over the weekend, describing the rapper’s breakdown as the price of fame.

“I understand how the music business is,” Stafford said. “It’s like a high. When you get to that level, you want that drug again, you want to hit that high again.”

Lil Nas X, born Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested and charged with four felonies on Aug. 21. The rapper pleaded not guilty after he was accused of charging at Los Angeles police officers while roaming the streets of Studio City in his underwear and a pair of cowboy boots in a disconcerted state. He was released on a $75,000 bond after spending the weekend in jail, which was conditional on him attending drug treatment.

Stafford told The Times he blamed both the “pressure” of success and being a provider for his family for his son’s breakdown. Hill’s mother has battled addiction for many years. In 2021, she was filmed begging for food on a street corner in Atlanta.

“For a 26-year-old to have to deal with what he’s dealing with — to be a breadwinner for a lot of people, the inability to change his mother’s situation and the pressure he puts on himself…” Stafford said. He added that Hill has tried to help his mother, but she has declined the offers. “That can weigh heavily on your heart,” Stafford said.

Stafford said he flew to Los Angeles in the wake of the arrest to support his son. “I went to visit him in jail and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry,” Stafford said. “To see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute. And I had to tell him that ‘What you’re going through is normal.’ We all have breakdowns every now and then, but the difference is, yours get played out in the public eye. When I went to visit he asked me to say, ‘Tell everybody I’m sorry they saw me like that.’ Even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through.”

He added, “Hopefully, this is a turning point in his mental stability. Sometimes God will take you through your worst moment to give you your best moment.”

Trending Stories

Last week, Hill shared an explanation with fans in an Instagram Story. “Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all,” he said. “OK? She’s gonna be all right. Shit. That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be all right.”

Prior to his arrest, Hill shared a series of bizarre posts on Instagram, which sparked concern, though some predicted he could be amping up controversy ahead of a new music era. He shared unreleased music and mirror selfies, plus artwork and piles of miscellaneous objects in what appeared to be his home. The arrest quelled rumors that he was engaging in a marketing stunt.

Lil Nas X Charged With Four Felonies For Attacking And Injuring Cops

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Lil Nas X‘s wild week has reached a very serious point. The 26-year-old artist has been charged with four felonies.

The “Old Town Road” singer first made headlines for being spotted walking around nearly naked on Ventura Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. TMZ reported that the cops were called on him, and when they went to confront him, he got violent and charged the officers.

The police initially suspected that he was high on drugs when they first arrived at the scene. Nas X was taken to a hospital first to check on his health status before being transferred to jail. He was held without bail over the weekend and appeared in front of a judge on Monday morning (Aug. 25).

The pop star has been charged with four felonies by the Los Angeles County District Attorney, one of which is battery with injury of a police officer and resisting a cop. The two-time Grammy winner is set to be arraigned on Monday, and bail would be set during the arraignment.

Musically, Nas X made his grand return to the scene in March. He shared the eight-song project Days Before Dreamboy, highlighted by “Hotbox.” In 2024, he appeared on “Here We Go!” from the soundtrack for the Netflix film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. That same year, he released the highly controversial “J Christ” and linked up with Kevin Abstract for “Tennessee.”

The young star’s record-breaking career includes 11 total Grammy nominations, three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, five Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits, and 18 total Hot 100 placements. “Old Town Road” spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on the. Hot 100 and 45 weeks total on the chart. “Montero” and “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow, his other No. 1’s, spent one week each.

Lil Nas X’s Abandoned Boots From Viral Arrest Listed On eBay For $10,000

The cowboy boots worn by Lil Nas X during his headline-making night in Los Angeles have surfaced on eBay, where the starting bid is a bold $10,000.

According to the seller, the boots were recovered from the street after the rapper removed them and declared, “Girl, I don’t need them boots anymore.”

The individual had been filming Lil Nas X’s near-naked stroll, complete with a soundtrack of “Old Town Road,” when the artist reportedly rolled on the pavement and then vanished.

Shortly afterward, Lil Nas X was taken into police custody on suspicion of battery against an officer and is expected to remain behind bars until at least Monday. The seller believes collectors or fans of the “Panini” artist may find the boots worth the hefty price and says interest is already growing.

“I’ve already been fielding offers on Instagram,” he said. The auction is now live for eager bidders.
Would y’all buy the boots?
