Yungblud to join Aerosmith members for all-star Ozzy Osbourne tribute at MTV VMAs 2025

Yungblud will join the members of Aerosmith for a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs this weekend.

The 42nd Video Music Awards are taking place in the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on Sunday night (September 7), and a portion of the show will pay tribute to the late Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away in July at the age of 76.

Yungblud will join forces with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt during the ceremony for a medley of Osbourne’s greatest hits.

The VMAs will be broadcast live on CBS and MTV from 8pm ET in the US, while UK viewers will be able to watch it on Comedy Central and MTV at 9pm on Monday night (September 8).

Yungblud was a part of the ‘Back To The Beginning’ Black Sabbath farewell show in Birmingham in July, an event that took on extra poignancy when Osbourne died less than three weeks later. Yungblud led a supergroup that also included Bettencourt, as well as II from Sleep Token and Adam Wakeman of Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band.

They performed the Sabbath ballad ‘Changes’, and after Osbourne’s death, Yungblud vowed to play the song at every show “for the rest of my life”, adding: ““To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd who loved you was truly my life’s greatest honour.”

Yungblud also posted an emotional tribute to Osbourne, saying: “You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little ‘too much’ or ‘strange’ in my life and career.”

He later spoke to NME about the impact that Ozzy has had on his career. “Ozzy was a character in my life who was a reflection of everything I went through,” he said. “I was always a bit over the top. I was always seen to be a bit crazy. I was always seen to be a bit loud, but when some people saw that as a negative, Ozzy would provide me with the hope that there was an avenue for someone like me in the world.

“From such a young age, he really inspired me. Then, to know him as a friend towards the end, to know his heart, and to know Sharon Osbourne… I really started to understand that they did things their way. It’s always been inspirational because, for me, the biggest enemy to any artist or anything is the phrase, ‘This is just how it’s done’. That’s a cop out. ‘This is how it’s done’ was once an innovative idea that got stale.

“All I care about are the people outside, and I want to make this the most magical adventure for them, and something that we’re gonna have together. [Ozzy’s death] is still raw at the minute. It’s been a very weird couple of weeks. But losing someone I admired and got to know really made me think about the idea of legacy and connection with people. All that matters is the connection with them.”

Yungblud also broke down in tears during a performance of ‘Changes’ in the US recently, while Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler described one of his shows as the “best” he’d seen in years.

Elsewhere at the VMAs, Lady Gaga will be performing there for the first time in five years, joining the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin and Busta Rhymes. Check out the full list of VMAs nominations here.

Lady Gaga Added to 2025 MTV VMAs Performance Lineup

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Singer and this year’s most nominated artist makes return to VMAs stage for first time since 2020 Covid-era performance

Lady Gaga will return to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7 for her first performance on the show in five years.

MTV announced the addition of Gaga — the most nominated artist at this year’s VMAs with 12 nods — on social media Saturday, just over a week before the 2025 show invades New York’s UBS Arena.

“Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!!” MTV wrote.

However, as Lady Gaga has a Mayhem Ball concert scheduled for September 7 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, her VMA performance will likely take place live from that venue, and not the not-so-nearby UBS Arena.

The singer last performed at the (Covid-era and audience-less) VMAs five years ago, delivering a medley of Chromatica songs alongside guest Ariana Grande; the pair also won Song of the Year that night for “Rain on Me,” while Gaga was awarded Artist of the Year.

Trending Stories

This time around, Gaga is up for a dozen awards, most of them tied to her Bruno Mars collaboration “Die With a Smile” (including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Song), while Gaga herself is up for Artist of the Year and Best Album (Mayhem).

Gaga joins a stacked MTV VMA performance lineup that also includes Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Tate McRae, J Balvin, Sombr, Alex Warren, and Conan Gray. 2025 MTV VMAs Video Vanguard Award recipient Mariah Carey will also perform. Additionally, Busta Rhymes will be recognized with the inaugural MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin is set to receive the first Latin Icon Award.

Lady Gaga to Perform at the 2025 MTV VMAs

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Lady Gaga is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards stage.

On Saturday (Aug. 30), MTV announced that the 39-year-old pop superstar will perform at the 2025 VMAs, airing live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The show will be hosted by LL Cool J.

“Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!!” MTV posted on X.

Gaga joins an already stacked lineup of performers, including Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Mariah Carey, Sabrina Carpenter and J Balvin.

This will mark Gaga’s first VMAs performance since 2020, when she took home multiple trophies, including artist of the year and song of the year for “Rain on Me.”

She’s leading the pack at this year’s awards with 12 nominations, followed closely by her “Die With a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars with 11. Other top contenders include Kendrick Lamar (10), ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter (eight each), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (seven each) and Billie Eilish (six).

In the lead-up to the show, Gaga has been teasing her next single “Dead Dance,” which is set to debut Sept. 3. The track will be featured in Netflix’s Wednesday series, starring Jenna Ortega. Gaga is also slated to make a surprise cameo in the show.

“Dead Dance” will be Gaga’s first new release since her Mayhem album, which dropped in March and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She’s currently promoting the set on her Mayhem Ball tour.

This year’s VMAs will be the first to air on CBS, while also simulcasting on MTV and streaming live on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Mariah Carey Will Receive Video Vanguard Award at 2025 MTV VMAs

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

MTV has named Mariah Carey its 2025 Video Vanguard Award recipient. The seven-time MTV Video Music Award nominee will perform a medley of her biggest hits when the show airs live on CBS from UBS Arena in New York on Sept. 7.

The coveted award will be the first VMA the musician has received in her storied career. Carey is nominated this year in the Best R&B Video category for her action flick-themed video for “Type Dangerous.” It’s her first nomination as a lead artist since she was up for Best Female Video for “Touch My Body” in 2008. Other highlight career moments, including “Shake It Off” and “We Belong Together,” earned nods over the years, but the Moonmen never made their way to her.

The honor comes at a prime time for Carey, who will release her 16th studio album Here for It All on Sept. 26. The record marks her first since 2018’s Caution. Though she has largely kept details about the project under wraps, she did share another preview on her latest single “Sugar Sweet” with Shenseea and Kehlani.

For her Video Vanguard Award performance, Carey has quite a few options. She could dominate the performance on her own, with plenty of solo hits to fill the space, but her collaborative well runs deep, too. There’s Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men, Latto, Miguel, Jadakiss, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, and more who could join her for the set.

Earlier this year, Carey similarly received her first-ever BET Award when she was honored with the BET Ultimate Icon Award. “My life and career have been quite the adventure,” Carey said during her speech. “It took me a while, but I realized life is far too short to live for anyone else’s approval.”

Trending Stories

Both awards follow Carey’s second shutout from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Carey follows recent Video Vanguard Award recipients Katy Perry, Shakira, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, P!nk, and Rihanna.
