Sunjay Kapur’s mother tells Delhi HC Priya Kapur made every move to take control of his assets instead of mourning death

Sunjay Kapur’s mother’s statement arrives amid the ongoing legal dispute over his will. He died in June this year.

Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s widow, is involved in a legal dispute over his multimillion-dollar estate. The trouble began when his children, with his former wife and actor Karisma Kapoor, approached the Delhi High Court, claiming Priya forged Sunjay’s will. On Monday, Sunjay Kapur’s mother told the Delhi High Court that instead of grieving his death, Priya Kapur made every move to take control of his assets. What Sunjay’s mother claimed

As per the latest update shared by news agency PTI, the Delhi High Court on Monday heard allegations from Rani S Kapur. She said she was never told about her son’s will. The submissions were made before Justice Jyoti Singh during the hearing of a suit of Karisma Kapoor’s children. The court listed the matter for further arguments on December 3.

More details

Meanwhile, senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar, representing Rani, said that marital discord between Sunjay and Priya started in May 2023 and there were constant fights. The plea read that it was “highly unlikely and improbable that Sunjay would make Priya the sole beneficiary of his personal estate”. It went on to add that her late son shared “a deep bond and equal affection with all his children, his mother and other members of the Kapur family”. Furthermore, Gaggar claimed that instead of grieving Sunjay’s death, Priya made every possible move to take control of his assets, and alleged that the daughter-in-law concealed massive assets belonging to him.

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto parts manufacturer. He died in June in London while playing a polo match. Sunjay was married to Karisma from 2003 to 2016, and they had two children together. He married Priya in 2017.

“Do you think that we’re good parents?” Dekanalog has revealed the official US trailer for an acclaimed indie film from Canada titled The Mother and the Bear, made by talented Canadian-Chinese filmmaker Johnny Ma. The film premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year and it also played at a few other festivals and is finally opening in limited release (in the US) soon. In the snow-swept city of Winnipeg, school teacher Sumi is hospitalized after a fall. On hearing the news, her anxious mother, Sara, flies over from Seoul to be with her comatose daughter — once Sara sets herself up in the young woman’s apartment, she discovers she doesn’t really know Sumi at all. As Sara meddles in Sumi’s life via a dating app, she ends up on a journey that will leave her forever changed. “A stylized, whimsical narrative of crossed wires, secret lives, and conflicting agendas, the film is ‘a uniquely charming comedy about one woman’s quest to discover more about herself.” Starring Kim Ho-jung, Lee Won-jae, Jonathan Kim, Amara Pedroso, Kalyn Bomback, Susan Hanson, Samantha Kendrick, and Leere Park as Sumi. Looks amusing & heartfelt.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Johnny Ma’s film The Mother and the Bear, from YouTube:

The Mother and the Bear Poster

After 26-year-old Sumi (Leere Park) suffers an accident on the streets of wintry Winnipeg, Canada, her overbearing mother Sara (Kim Ho-jung) flies in from Seoul to be by her now comatose daughter’s side. Desperate to ensure Sumi will have someone to look after her in the future, Sara embarks on a mission to catfish a suitable (preferably Korean) husband before her daughter wakes up. However, as Sara meddles in Sumi’s life via a dating app, she ends up on a journey that will leave her forever changed. The Mother and the Bear is directed by Canadian-Chinese filmmaker Johnny Ma, director of the films Old Stone and To Live to Sing previously. Produced by Niv Fichman and Juan de Dios Larraín. This initially premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year. Dekanalog will debut Johnny Ma’s The Mother and the Bear film in select US theaters starting January 2nd, 2026 early next year. written by jummy84

Maa Vande, an upcoming multilingual film based on the life of PM Narendra Modi, was officially announced to coincide with his birthday on September 17. Starring Unni Mukundan, the film is directed by Kranthi Kumar Ch and produced by Veer Reddy under Silver Cast Creations. The biographical drama is presently in pre-production.

Raveena Tandon to play Heeraben

While Unni Mukundan is reprising Narendra Modi, we have learnt that Raveena Tandon has been finalized to play Modi’s mother late Heeraben. Apparently, when the actress was approached to play the part, she was so moved by the principles of Heeraben. The strength, depth and the arc of the layered character resonated with Raveena. The actress reportedly green lit the character 45 minutes into the narration. Heeraben’s life has been committed to values, and she has been like a teacher to Modi. On several occasions earlier, Modi spoke highly of her. Heeraben’s early struggle – losing her mother early in her childhood – how she held the family together with calm and fortitude, and her strong principles which stood the test of time have inspired Raveena to take on the challenging character.

Raveen Tandon Modi Maa Vande

Sacrifice and symbol of resilience

Heeraben was a source of inspiration and strength for Modi. The principles by which she raised him shaped his personality. Far beyond her story deprivation, is the glorious story of a mother. “Maa Vande is a film that predominantly focuses on mother-son relationship. The film majorly chronicles the sacrifices, resilience and the contributions she made to better his life. And Raveena Tandon was fascinated at this element and wanted to be part of the story,” informs a source from the unit. The actress would soon commence preparation for her role. She will undergo a complete makeover for the character. The film is being mounted on a massive scale with cutting-edge VFX technology

At Zarine Khan’s recent prayer meet in Mumbai, her husband Sanjay Khan fondly recalled how he proposed to her, describing her as beautiful, intelligent, and an ideal life partner. Their daughter, Farah Khan Ali, shared a video from the emotional gathering, where family members remembered Zarine with love and admiration. The prayer meet was attended by several celebrities, including Jitendra, Salim Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan, Saba Azad, Fardeen Khan, and Saif Ali Khan, among others, who came together to pay tribute to Zarine Khan’s warmth, grace, and enduring legacy in both family and film circles.

Sanjay Khan Reminisces About the Moment He Proposed to Zarine Khan

Zarine’s husband, actor Sanjay Khan, reminisced about the moment he proposed to her. “I met her when I was 18 and she was 14. When I looked into her luminous, beautiful eyes, I felt as if I was looking at the world. I asked her, ‘Will you marry me?’ She looked at me with a smile and said, ‘If I feel the same about you that I feel now, I’ll say yes after one year.’ So I stated, ‘With or without her beauty, she is also an intelligent person. She will make me a very good wife’.”

Hrithik Roshan Fondly Remembers His Former Mother-in-Law Zarine Khan

Speaking about his mother, Zarine, her son Zayed Khan said: “My mother was my God. I’ll miss her deeply.” Hrithik Roshan said, “It has been my privilege to love and be loved by you.”

Zarine Khan’s Family Remembers Her Fondly

In the video, priests from various faiths offered prayers for Zarine Khan, symbolising unity and respect. Her daughter Sussanne Khan grew emotional and was seen weeping as she sat among the guests, reminiscing about her mother. A projector displayed heartfelt photos of Zarine with her loved ones, while family members, including her grandchildren, shared touching words, expressing deep admiration and gratitude for her love, kindness, and strength.

Farah Ali Khan Writes an Emotional Note Remembering Her Mother

Farah Khan Ali penned a heartfelt note for her late mother, expressing gratitude for the immense love and admiration Zarine Khan received. Sharing the video from the prayer meet, Farah conveyed how deeply moved she was by the affection and respect shown towards her mother by everyone who knew her.

Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan

“Zarine Sanjay Khan to the world — but to me and my siblings, simply our mother. She was my world, or so I thought… until I witnessed the overwhelming turnout of people from all walks of life who came forward to pay their last respects to a woman who made each one feel seen and heard, irrespective of class, social status, or faith. To her, all were equal, and all equally important. I am truly blessed to have witnessed this outpouring of love for my mother. I’m also profoundly grateful for having had her in my life for more than half a century, because every moment of that time was precious,” she said.

Farah wrote about how her mother lovingly raised her and her siblings, highlighting Zarine Khan’s strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family. “She shaped me and my siblings in her image — she loved generously and gave without flinching. She had a golden heart, just like the meaning of her beautiful name, Zarine, which means ‘golden’ or ‘to shine.’ And shine she did — the brightest of all — as she left her earthly abode for her heavenly one. Thank you, God, for my mother. Thank you for all the love she received. Thank you that she lives on in me and my siblings. We will carry her legacy forward,” she concluded.

On November 7, Sunjay Khan’s wife and former actor Zarine Khan breathed her last at their Mumbai residence, at the age of 81. Mother of Sussanne Khan, Zayed Khan, Farah Khan Ali and Simone Arora, Zarine had reportedly been suffering from age-related ailments for a long time. Born a Parsi and married as a Muslim, the late actor was cremated according to Hindu rites on the day of her death. Later on November 10, Zarine’s loved ones got together for her prayer meet, where her family members, including former son-in-law Hrithik Roshan, paid their last respects.

Hrithik Roshan, who was earlier married to Sussanne Khan, fondly remembered his former mother-in-law Zarine Khan in a video from the prayer meet, shared by Farah Khan Ali. The actor shared, “It has been my privilege to love and be loved by you.” Hrithik and Sussanne’s son Hridaan Roshan also paid tribute to his naani, stating: “She carried this calmness, this kindness, that made everyone around her feel cared for.” Sussanne’s brother and Zarine’s son Zayed Khan, on the other hand, shared, “My mother was my God. I’ll miss her deeply.” In the audience, Sussanne and her family attempted to hold back tears during the emotional event.

Remembering the first time he saw his wife Zarine, Sunjay Khan shared, “I met her when I was 18 and she was 14. When I looked into her luminous, beautiful eyes, mujhe aisa laga jaise main duniya ko dekh raha hun. I asked her, ‘Will you marry me?’ She looked at me with a smile and said, ‘If I feel the same about you that I feel now, I’ll say yes after one year’. So I said, ‘With or without her beauty, she is also intelligent. She will make me a very good wife’.”

Renuka Shahane Comments On Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Being Body-Shamed After Becoming A Mother; Says, “It’s Tough For Women”

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Actress Renuka Shahane, known for her grace and candid nature, recently opened up about the harsh beauty standards that actresses face in the film industry. In an exclusive conversation on Zoom’s Spotlight Sessions, the Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! actress shared her thoughts on how society constantly judges women, especially after they become mothers.

Renuka Shahane On Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Body Shamming

Speaking about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Renuka addressed how the former Miss World was body-shamed after giving birth to her daughter Aaradhya in 2011. Aishwarya, who continues to represent India globally at Cannes, was often criticized for her looks and weight during her post-pregnancy appearances. Renuka expressed her disappointment at such behavior, saying, “Should we not celebrate her consistent achievements over the years? She has been the brand ambassador of a major company for years, representing us internationally. Instead of appreciating her, people focus on what she wears or how she looks. Please don’t do that. If you don’t have anything nice to say, just stay quiet.”

The actress further discussed the increasing pressure that female stars face in today’s digital age. She mentioned how social media has created an environment of constant judgment, making it difficult for actors to live peacefully. “With the advent of social media, it’s become a whole new world. There’s too much pressure and criticism. It is very tough for actors, especially women. After becoming a mother, there’s this unrealistic expectation that you must look the same as before—slim and flawless,” she said.

Renuka’s words serve as a reminder that women in the entertainment industry are often scrutinized unfairly and that achievements should be celebrated over appearances.

Jennifer Lawrence Is a Mother in Freefall

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Editor’s Note: This review was originally published during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. MUBI releases “Die My Love” in theaters Friday, November 7.

You haven’t lived until you’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence doing any of the debasing things she does in Lynne Ramsay’s “Die My Love,” like crawling on all fours through a field of grass, a kitchen knife in hand as she closes in on her character Grace’s newborn baby, or masturbating gloomily in a state of postpartum doom while her husband Jackson (Robert Pattinson) finishes cooking dinner downstairs, a self-induced orgasm timed to the spring of a toaster below.

Grace is just trying to be a good wife, a good mother, but she’s failing spectacularly at it in Ramsay’s alternately absorbing, exhausting tone poem of post-birth grief turned into psychosexual frenzy. Lawrence — whose fearless skill in conjuring women gone perilously over the verge and unhinged from top to toe while trying to play house was already established in Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!” — gives the kind of unleashed performance film festival Best Actress prizes are made for in the “We Need to Talk About Kevin” filmmaker’s latest.

"Little Amélie or the Character of Rain"

Co-written with Enda Walsh and Alice Birch from a novel by Ariana Harwicz, “Die My Love” is a two-hour cinematic miasma of what it’s like to be in postpartum depression hell and possessed by a sexual appetite that could never possibly be quenched by even someone as hot as Robert Pattinson. As such, it will be a tough sell for even Lawrence’s most ardent fans. The story offers little to hook us onto other than Grace’s constant flailing through psychosis, visually realized by cinematographer Seamus McGarvey with the feeling of a bad dream you wake up from in a heated, unforgiving sweat. The atmosphere of this fugue-state-turned-panic-attack of a film is never not intoxicating. As Grace spins out in a hothouse countryside beset by ever-buzzing flies — inescapable swelter and tall grass abound — you can all but feel the ticks and Lyme disease consuming you.

These are all testaments to what a visceral, unusually subjective filmmaker Ramsay is. In “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” she straps us into the fracturing mind of a mother whose sociopathic son has just shot up his school, turning her community against her. “Die My Love” presents us with a very different kind of mother, one not easily liked or pleasantly watchable and one less sympathetic than Tilda Swinton’s in “Kevin.” The occasionally implausible human behavior on display here feels closer to “Morvern Callar” in soul and tone. In that Ramsay film, Samantha Morton stole her dead boyfriend’s manuscripts to pose as the writer she could never be, leaving his body to decay into rigor mortis in their apartment.

Grace is also a writer, though she’s watched that dream curdle and die (and at her own discontented devising) along with seemingly her personhood amid the birth of a cute baby boy and a simultaneous move with Jackson into his dead uncle’s neglected-looking country house. “Die My Love” begins with images of a forest fire (which this grueling, difficult, but often beautiful film will return to) that give way to a punk-rock montage of Grace and Jackson fucking furiously, spliced and diced manically by editor Toni Froschhammer. Grace has a nonstop sexual hunger that does not conform comfortably to the demands of motherhood; demands where, for her, nymphomania-adjacent tendencies interfere with baby monitors and breast-feeding.

Lawrence often has this frisky, rabid grin that’s irresistible to watch but also scary. “A real mom would have baked a cake,” Grace says, as she serves what is basically a melted soup of sugar to Jackson and their child on what appears to be one of their good days. Much later, and after events I won’t spoil, she will serve up a cake frosted with the words “Mommy’s Home” that crystallize just how much this woman is not the most skillful of bakers. Or homemakers. Or the kind of woman who could ever be either of those, one that any man or any life or any world expects her to be.

I don’t think there has ever before been such a psychologically immersive view of postpartum depression as “Die My Love” onscreen. The film careens between a dreary sludge of despair and eventual heart-palpitating nightmare, Grace caught in a mercurial storm of her own moods without ballast and unable to be understood by those around her. Especially not Jackson’s parents, Pam (Sissy Spacek, whose character’s own past background reveals stark parallels to Grace’s current one) and Harry (Nick Nolte, rattled by dementia and also plopped into this movie pointlessly).

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-riding neighbor played by LaKeith Stanfield encircles the grounds, seeming to offer more promising ways to meet Grace’s sexual rigors now that Jackson can’t seem to match up to his wife’s pathological horniness. Hello, amorous, foreboding stranger, as Grace chases after a mystery man in a helmet she doesn’t know. In movie terms, he turns out to be a red herring, or at least not a character Ramsay and Walsh are interested in building out. Then again, none of the extracurricular ensemble gets much of a chance to shine or become real people. Other than Spacek’s Pam, who eventually gets a brief moment to relate to Grace’s plight as they toast to the mutual oblivions they’ve created as unfit mothers.

“Die My Love” isn’t without a sly sense of humor, which elevates this film above other similar movies that induce their audience into as deep an emotional coma as their protagonist. Lawrence delivers some sharply barbing, quotable, I-must-write-this-down one-liners, like when she’s shopping, in another of her displaced fogs, at a gas station market, and a perky cashier asks her, “Find everything you were looking for?”

“In life?” Grace replies, before ripping into this perfectly nice woman. How funny Grace would’ve been as a character without Lawrence at the helm, who knows? The “Silver Linings Playbook” actress — who perfectly straddles the line between perversion and pathos just by her natural appearance, here with bangs and freaked-out eyes — at one point stands over a blank piece of paper, dead-eyed, pondering her former life as a would-have-been writer, while mixing her own breastmilk with ink.

'Die, My Love'
‘Die, My Love’Excellent Cadaver

Like “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” “Die My Love” is both a caution against the unexpected perils of motherhood and also an embrace of their incumbent ills as a necessary part of the job. Ramsay’s filmmaking is undeniably powerful, engulfing us in the sick stew of Grace’s mind while flooding the soundtrack with music from Lou Reed, David Bowie, and the Cocteau Twins (Ramsay has always been an apt picker of songs that tell the psychic story of her films’ protagonists). But there’s a lot of time spent on Grace wandering about the proverbial emotional cabin — and also this literal one she lives in with Jackson.

Blood pours off her face a lot of the time from various self-inflicted wounds. There’s a motif about a horse that’s hard to make sense of other than the obvious: freedom lives everywhere else except in this woman’s life. You almost wish Grace would lose it just a little bit more in the movie’s first hour; you crave the “mother!”-level breakdowns of a woman, finally, screaming, “Get out of my fucking house!”

Until the later stretches, where Grace and Jackson finally achieve an entente that leaves her, the bloodied woman with a baby carriage in the street and tears in her eyes, forced to face up to the family she’s putting into ruin. “Die My Love” can be languorous in its vision of a person coming undone, but Lawrence is game and fearless, stripping herself in all senses to lean into a woman’s debilitating emotional crisis.

Her sexual freefall is among the more compelling in recent cinematic memory despite its purposeful blinders with regards to other, less compelling characters. At one point Grace calls Jackson a “useless fucking faggot” when he can’t get it up for a forced moment of hasty sex in the front seat of their car. Lawrence is gorgeous, but in this state? No, thank you, to this mentally ill request for lovemaking. As undeveloped as Pattinson’s Jackson is, you want to hand it to him while also wanting to slap that very hand across his face: Wake up, dude. But there’s something strangely romantic about this pairing, which Ramsay drills home in the final coda. They need each other, and maybe all Grace had to know was confirmation of Jackson’s own need, too.

Seeing “Die My Love” at Cannes, European critics will be unfazed by Lawrence’s unvarnished and very naked turn, though in the U.S., she will be commended for her “bravery.” If enough people see it at all to make such an appraisal. Her performance will shock the baser public. What Lawrence achieves here is extremely impressive, a marquee movie star throwing herself with abandon into a filmmaker’s warped and demandingly miserable vision. A last visual metaphor, however strained, forces us (and Jackson) to finally see Grace for who she is: a woman beyond the pale, beyond reproach, beyond help. Lawrence is committed to the insanity. She’s never been better, and she needs no help getting to where this film takes her. Lynne Ramsay, wind her up and watch her go.

In a deeply saddening turn of events, Zarine Katrak Khan, the wife of veteran Bollywood actor Sanjay Khan and mother of Zayed Khan and Sussanne Khan, passed away on Friday at the age of 81. Her demise comes just a day after the passing of actress Sulakshana Pandit, leaving the film industry in a state of shock once again. According to reports, Zarine Katrak had been suffering from age-related ailments for quite some time and breathed her last at her Mumbai residence.

Zayed Khan Performed Zarine’s Last Rites

Her last rites were performed on Friday evening, following Hindu rituals. Zayed Khan was seen wearing a sacred thread around his neck during the rituals, indicating his adherence to traditional customs. Several emotional visuals from the funeral have surfaced online, showing family members and friends bidding a tearful farewell. Many prominent Bollywood personalities attended Zarine Khan’s funeral to pay their last respects.

Among those spotted were Hrithik Roshan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Bobby Deol, Aly Goni, Ronit Roy, Poonam Dhillon, and Sonal Chauhan. Hrithik, who was once married to Zarine’s daughter Sussanne Khan, was seen offering support to the grieving family during this difficult time. Sanjay Khan and Zarine Katrak shared a love story that was nothing short of cinematic. The couple met at a bus stop and soon became friends.

Zarine Khan Last Rites

At the time, Sanjay was just 18 years old. In an old interview with one of the media houses, Zarine fondly recalled their first date on a beach, describing how Sanjay arrived in a white shirt and trousers, wearing Kolhapuri slippers and holding a book by Tolstoy. She remembered being captivated by his charm as he spoke about his life. The very next day, Sanjay proposed to her. Zarine had playfully replied, *“If I still have feelings for you after a year, I will!” That witty answer won Sanjay’s heart, and a year later, the two tied the knot in 1966.

Laura Dern’s Parents: Everything to Know About Her Mother, Diane Ladd, & Father Bruce Dern

Her Mother, Diane Ladd, & Father Bruce Dern – Hollywood Life

Laura Dern is one of the most celebrated actresses of all time. Aside from uncredited roles in the early 70s, she began regularly acting in 1980, and she’s appeared in a wide-range of critically-acclaimed films and popular blockbusters, notably early hits like Blue Velvet in 1986 and Jurassic Park in 1993. While Laura has been a beloved star for decades, she actually has many family members who have been in the entertainment industry in various forms. Her parents, Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, both worked as actors, and she also has relatives who have been in politics, very successful businesspeople, and writers. All three actors have stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame close by each other.

Laura, who herself is a mother of two, has spoken about how happy she was that her parents were both entertainers in a 2014 interview with The Guardian. “My parents, Dianne Ladd and Bruce Dern, are so real; they’re so who they are. The 70s, when I was a child, was their time of great success. But there were no cameras following you through the market or paparazzi at your school,” she said. “They wanted to play complicated people and they didn’t care about anything else, like the glam stuff.”

Unfortunately, Diane died on November 3, 2025. Find out more about both of Laura’s parents here.

Bruce Dern

Laura’s dad was married once before he went out with Diane. Bruce was briefly wed to Marie Dawn Pierce from 1957 to 1959, before marrying Diane in 1960. The pair’s first daughter died at 18 months old. By the time Laura was born in 1967, he was an established actor, with roles in a variety of TV shows, like Stoney Burke, where he appeared in 17 episodes. He had also done some movie work, including in films like Wild River and Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

Since the 60s, Bruce has appeared in a wide array of movies where he’s been critically acclaimed, including 1974’s The Great Gatsby, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. His performances in 1978’s Coming Home and 2013’s Nebraska earned him both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. Bruce and Diana divorced in 1969 and remarried Andrea Beckett that same year!

Laura has opened up about getting closer with her dad as she’s gotten older. She revealed that when she was younger, she felt like her dad was a bit unsure as a parent in a 2013 interview with Marc Maron on the WTF podcast.  “I think he kind of — as you could imagine — didn’t really know what to do with a small person,” she explained. She also joked about how a playdate’s dad confronted her over a character her dad played who killed John Wayne in a 2013 Vulture interview.

Awkward playdates aside, she did reveal what she learned from her dad in that interview. “To stay true to what’s right for you. Stay true to your own voice, and don’t worry about needing to be liked or what anybody else thinks. Keep your eyes on your own paper,” she said of what she picked up on as an actress.

Like Bruce, Diane had also established herself as an actress with a variety of film and TV roles in the late 1950s and 60s before Laura was born. Over the years, Diane has appeared in a number of hit movies like Chinatown (1974) and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), and she’s received Oscar nominations for roles in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974), Wild Heart (1990), and Rambling Rose (1991).

While Diane has been open about how she initially discouraged Laura from pursuing a career in acting, Laura’s first two uncredited roles were in her mom’s movies Alice and 1973’s White Lightning. Even though Laura spent lots of time with her dad as a kid, the actress did explain that her mom was the primary caregiver in the WTF interview. “I definitely was raised by my mom and my grandma,” she said. After Diane and Bruce split, she remarried William Shea from 1969 to 1976 and Robert Hunter in 1999.

The mom-and-daughter pair co-starred in the TV series Enlightened, which ran from 2011 to 2013. Laura said that some people didn’t realize that they weren’t just a mother and daughter on TV but in real life too. “I have had so many people come up to me, not really knowing we’re mother and daughter, and it’s amazing that there are people who are fans of the show who don’t know and get such a kick out of the relationship,” she said in a CBS News interview.

Both actresses appeared in a number of different projects together, including Rambling Rose, Wild At Heart, and Citizen Ruth. Similarly, Diane was ecstatic to get to work alongside her daughter on the show. “To work with someone you love is a great thing,” she told CBS News.

Laura announced on November 3, 2025, that Diane died at the age of 89.

“My amazing hero and my profound gift of a mother, Diane Ladd, passed with me beside her this morning, at her home in Ojai, California,” Laura wrote in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created. We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”

“There’s something wrong with this place. There’s something bad here. I can hear it in the walls.” Quiver Distribution has revealed their official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Beldham, another horror about motherhood and life after having a baby. This premiered last year at the 2024 Sitges and Austin Film Festivals and a few others, and will be out on VOD soon. A struggling young mother fights a generations-old presence lurking within her family home, threatening her safety, her sanity, and the life of her infant child. Starring Patricia Heaton, Corbin Bernsen, Katie Parker, Emma Fitzpatrick. A new mother named Harper returns to her childhood home, only to face a malevolent, age-old entity lurking in the walls. As the haunting escalates, she’s pushed to the brink to protect her baby — and her mind. All these nice birds are being turned into villains in this film! They don’t seem so scary — it’s the creepy witch in the walls that does.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Angela Gulner’s horror film The Beldham, direct from YouTube:

When she first got pregnant, Harper (Katie Parker) already knew that having a child wasn’t going to be an easy task. What she never expected was to have to deal with a generations-old evil presence that has been living on the family’s farm. Katie Parker, a recurring actress in Mike Flanagan’s works, and Cobin Bernsen, known for The Dentist, among other roles, star in this harrowing tale of ghosts and first-time mothers. The Beldham is written and directed by American writer / actress / filmmaker Angela Gulner, making her feature directorial debut with this film. It’s produced by Talia Bella, Angela Gulner, Mark Meir, Randy Wayne. This first premiered at the 2024 Sitges & Austin Film Festivals last year. Quiver Distr. debuts Gulner’s The Beldham horror film direct-to-VOD starting November 7th, 2025 this fall. Who’s intrigued?
