“Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll come back as snow. Then I’ll see you all at Christmastime.” ❄️ Netflix has revealed their official trailer for a drama from Kate Winslet titled Goodbye June, arriving to watch starting in December this fall. The film not only stars Kate Winslet, it is also her feature directorial debut. She helped produce the film Lee but this is her first time directing anything and it looks like a heartwarming film about family. The story follows a big group of fractured siblings who must come together under sudden and trying circumstances. It’s hitting theaters first for a few weeks before streaming at the holidays. The film takes place just before Christmas, when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health thrusts four adult siblings & their exasperating father into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics. However, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms — with biting humour, blunt honesty, and plenty of love. The film stars Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Kate Winslet, and Helen Mirren. Along with Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Raza Jaffrey. Well, now that’s a seriously impressive cast! This looks deeply emotional and intimate, a bit about how chaotic all families are.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Kate Winslet’s film Goodbye June, direct from YouTube:

The film takes place just before Christmas, when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health thrusts four adult siblings and their exasperating father into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics in the face of potential loss. But their quick-witted mother, June (starring Helen Mirren), orchestrates her decline on her own terms — with biting humour, blunt honesty, and a lot of love. Goodbye June is directed by Oscar-winning British actress / filmmaker Kate Winslet, making her feature directorial debut after producing her film Lee previously. The screenplay is written by Joe Anders. Produced by Kate Solomon & Kate Winslet. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Netflix debuts Kate Winslet’s Goodbye June film playing in select US theaters on December 12th, 2025, then it will begin streaming on Netflix starting December 24th during the holidays right at the end of the year. Helen Mirren to Accept Special Golden Globe Award During ‘Golden Eve’

The Golden Globes has announced that actress, producer, and three-time Golden Globe winner Dame Helen Mirren will receive the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award — and, as part of a new twist on how the honor will be given.

Rather than during the Golden Globe Awards telecast, like in the past, both the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Carol Burnett Award will take place during a new annual primetime special titled “Golden Eve,” airing on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature and her career is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, president, Golden Globes, via statement. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.”

The Oscar, Emmy, SAG, BAFTA, and Tony Award-winning actress has received 16 Golden Globes nominations over her six decade career, with her first win being for her role in the TV movie “Losing Chase,” and her later wins being for dual roles as the Queen of England in both the 2005 miniseries “Elizabeth I” and the 2006 film “The Queen.” Given her celebrated body of work across stage, film, and television, Mirren was also appointed a Dame of the British Empire in 2003 in recognition of her artistic achievements.

The new “Golden Eve” special is said to offer viewers an unprecedented insider’s look at the honorees’ legacy, personal stories, and unforgettable Golden Globes moments. The exclusive special will feature curated career retrospectives, never-before-seen footage, and in-depth conversations with the honorees.

The “Golden Eve” event will be one of the awards specials airing as part of the new Golden Week experience airing across Paramount platforms, with more programming and celebratory kick-off events teeing up the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, which will air live Sunday, January 11, 2026, and will once again be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser.

Past Cecil B. DeMille Award recipients include Walt Disney, Audrey Hepburn, Sidney Poitier, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey, and, most recently, Viola Davis during the inaugural Golden Gala.
