The King of Pop’s story is coming to life on the big screen — and it’s staying in the family. Jaafar Jackson, the 29-year-old nephew of Michael Jackson, is set to portray his legendary uncle in the upcoming biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer behind Bohemian Rhapsody and The Departed.

Production on the film began earlier this year, with a worldwide theatrical release scheduled for April 24, 2026. Early photos from the set show Jaafar’s striking resemblance to his uncle, capturing the energy and charisma that defined Michael’s career.

So, who is Jaafar Jackson? Here’s what you need to know about Jaafar below.

1. Jaafar will play Michael Jackson in a new biopic.

Antoine Fuqua confirmed Jaafar’s casting on January 30, 2023 He posted a behind-the-scenes photo of Jaafar in rehearsals for the Michael Jackson biopic. “Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael — the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop. Coming soon,” Antoine wrote on Instagram.

Jaafar shared the same photo on his Instagram and wrote, “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”

Michael’s estate has given the rights to his musical catalog. The upcoming biopic will “not shy away from the controversies of Jackson’s life, the pedophile accusations that haunted his latest years up to his death in 2009 at age 50, from cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of sedatives,” according to Deadline.

2. Jaafar is Jermaine Jackson’s son.

Jaafar is one of Jermaine’s 7 kids. Jaafar was born in 1996 to Jermaine, Michael’s older brother, and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza. Alejandra notably dated Jermaine’s younger brother, Randy, and also had two kids with him. Jermaine and Alejandra were married from 1995 to 2003.

3. Jaafar can sing and dance like his uncle.

Back in 2019, Jaafar released the music video for his song “Got Me Singing.” He proves that the Jackson family’s talents are still running in the family. Jaafar shows off his vocals and dancing skills in the music video. He started his music career at 12 years old and can play the piano, according to his IMDb profile.

4. The biopic will mark Jaafar’s acting debut.

Jaafar has appeared as himself in a number of family-oriented projects, including The Jacksons: Next Generation and Tito Jackson’s music video in 2021. Playing his uncle in the biopic will be his first onscreen role.

5. Jaafar initially wanted to be a professional golfer.

Before he started his music career, Jaafar had aspirations of being a professional golfer. However, after being surrounded by his talented family, he soon followed in his family’s footsteps and became an entertainer.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael, the forthcoming biopic about pop legend Michael Jackson.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Michael, the forthcoming biopic about pop legend Michael Jackson

The film is being directed by Antoine Fuqua, 60, and the teaser for the project offers the first glimpse of Jackson’s life story brought to the screen by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, 29.

The film chronicles the rise of Jackson from child star to global icon, exploring both his personal life and his career-defining moments.

Lionsgate’s trailer opens with a recreation of Jackson in the recording studio with music producer Quincy Jones, portrayed by Kendrick Sampson.

Quincy is seen telling Jackson: “I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this. The tracks are made, the songs are ready. Let’s take it from the top.”

As Jackson’s 1982 hit Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ plays, the clip flashes through scenes from the singer’s early years, live performances and music videos, including Thriller.

Alongside Jaafar, the film stars Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney and adviser John Branca, as well as Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson and Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson.

Jessica Sula plays his sister LaToya Jackson, while Larenz Tate appears as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy.

Laura Harrier portrays pioneering music executive Suzanne de Passe, and Kat Graham stars as Diana Ross.

The biopic, which wrapped production in May 2024, is now set for release in cinemas on 24 April 2026 – a change from its original date of 3 October 2025.

Industry reports had suggested Michael might be split into two parts, but the trailer confirms it will be released as a single film.

A synopsis from Lionsgate reads: “Michael explores the global superstar’s journey to become known to the world as the King of Pop, presenting an intimate look at the life and enduring legacy of one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”

The supporting cast also includes Liv Symone, Kevin Shinick, KeiLyn Durrel Jones and Kendrick Sampson, who portrays Quincy Jones, the heavyweight producer who first met Jackson when he was 12.

The screenplay was written by John Logan, whose credits include Alien: Covenant and Rango.

Producers include John Branca, Graham King and John McClain, with David B. Householter serving as executive producer.

Michael marks the first major dramatisation of Jackson’s life to have the full cooperation of his estate, with its makers given access to his music catalogue and archival material.

The upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, features a star-studded ensemble cast. The film explores the beginnings of the late King of Pop, who died in 2009, and how his time with the Jackson 5 catapulted him to build one of the most successful solo music careers in the world.

Below, get to know each star from the Michael biopic movie and who they’re playing.

Jaafar Jackson – Michael Jackson

As the nephew of the late King of Pop, it was only right that Jaafar would honor his uncle. Jaafar is a singer, actor and dancer, bringing his triple-threat skills to the big screen. In 2019, he released his first single, “Got Me Singing.”

After being cast in the role as Michael back in 2023, Jaafar took to Instagram to gush that he was “humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.”

Colman Domingo – Joe Jackson

Colman is playing the role of Michael’s father, Joe Jackson. The actor has been seen in various roles, the most recent being Candyman, The Running Man and Wicked For Good.

Joe was the patriarch of the Jackson 5 as he pushed his sons to pursue a music career in the late 1960s. Joe died in 2018.

Nia Long – Katherine Jackson

Nia plays the role of Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson. Having grown up with a musical background, Katherine aspired to be a country music singer or an actress.

As for Nia, she’s best known for her performances in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Boyz n The Hood and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Jamal R. Henderson – Jermaine Jackson

Jamal is playing Jermain, the fourth child of Katherine and Joe and second vocalist and bass guitarist for the Jackson 5.

Tre Horton – Marlon Jackson

Marlon will be played by Tre. The sixth child of Joe had a twin brother, who died shortly after his birth.

Miles Teller – John Branca

Miles is playing the role of entertainment lawyer and manager John, whom Michael hired after firing his father as his manager. Michael eventually fired John due to his alleged financial meddling.

Kae Tempest shares euphoric George Michael cover ‘Freedom! ’25’

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Kae Tempest has released a euphoric cover of George Michael’s ‘Freedom! ‘90’, re-titling it ‘Freedom! ‘25’ – check it out below.

The rapper, poet and playwright released his fifth studio album ‘Self Titled’ in July via Island Records, a record produced by Fraser T. Smith (Adele, Stormzy, Dave) and featuring appearances from Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, Young Fathers and Connie Constance.

Now, Tempest has released his version of Michael’s vintage pop single, a track he first performed on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show from Maida Vale studios around the release of the new album.

Check out the recorded version alongside a clip from the session and the original here:

Speaking about the cover, Tempest has said: “So excited to be joined on this track by Leah Cleaver, whose voice gives me life. It’s been a dream to work together with Fraser and Leah.  I have loved this song forever, but I am still only just now discovering what these lyrics can unlock.”

“This song is a victory,” he added. “Love George Michael so much. Grateful to him for the light he shone. It feels powerful, re-summoning the spirit of this song in this moment. I’ve performed it live a few times, and it’s a stunning feeling to find it with the crowd; it feels like a revelation. All we have to see is that I don’t belong to you, and you don’t belong to me. Freedom”.

Tempest has been touring around Europe in recent weeks and will bring the show to the UK next week, with shows in London, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin. See all the dates and info here and find any remaining tickets here.

NME awarded ‘Self Titled’ four stars, noting: “‘Know Yourself’ is a powerful combination of two voices: Kae today, and Kae years ago, billed as “a dialogue between selves across time, in real time” tracking the process of shifting identity via a sample of an old lyric. Amid these internal battles is a clear vision of the chaotic world outside, too.”

Tempest recently spoke to NME about the new album and the responsibility he feels as a non binary person in the public eye. “It’s not like I feel the weight of a responsibility,” he said. “It was important for me to show up for my community, to show up for myself being a trans man and a non binary person. These are just crucial elements of my make-up.

“If I’m being celebratory and honest and uncompromising about expressing myself, there’s some freedom that will come in terms of other people’s own feelings about what they may not feel comfortable expressing amongst friends, family or in public.”

Michael Thomas Lloyd Pleads Guilty To Murder Of Winston Hunter

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

South Carolina man Michael Thomas Lloyd will serve life in prison for killing 6-year-old Winston Hunter in a 2022 shooting. Gunshots rang out on May 13, 2022, hitting Hunter’s home and taking his life moments later.

Details On Winston Hunter’s Tragic Passing

According to PEOPLE, on Oct. 14, Michael Thomas Lloyd pleaded guilty to the May 2022 drive-by shooting, which claimed the life of 6-year-old Winston Hunter. Two other men involved, Jeremiah Harley and Ethan Anderson, also admitted to the murder in 2024 and are now serving life sentences without parole. Lloyd and his crew allegedly fired at least 21 bullets into Winston Hunter’s home. Winston was lying on the couch watching TV when gunfire reportedly struck him in the head and wrist. First responders arrived shortly after, but found Winston dead at the scene. Prosecutors said Lloyd confessed to opening fire on the home because he thought it belonged to a drug dealer. Investigators recovered three firearms during the case, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed the weapons matched the shell casings found at the scene.

Here’s How Cops Tracked Down The Men Behind The Deadly Shooting

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that showed a light-colored sedan speeding to and from the neighborhood around the time of the shooting. After the video circulated publicly, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from law enforcement in Ontario County, New York. Officers there pulled over a car that matched the description and detained two suspects, per WLTX.

Winston’s Family Breaks Silence During Michael Thomas Lloyd’s Sentencing

According to ABC News 4, Winston’s mother, Courtney Hunter, opened up about her son’s tragic death. She told the courtroom during Michael Thomas Lloyd’s sentencing that losing her baby has left her heartbroken. “We’ll never be able to spend time or make memories with him again,” Courtney reportedly said. In addition, 911 calls captured Courtney screaming after the shooting, saying, “They shot my baby.” Furthermore, Courtney added that the only graduation photo she will ever have of Winston was from his kindergarten graduation, which was allegedly taken just six days before he was killed in the shooting.

Football Movie ‘Signing Tony Raymond’ Trailer Starring Michael Mosley

by Alex Billington
October 31, 2025

“Some of the best plays happen off the field.” Iconic Events & Southern Isles Pictures have debuted the first official trailer for a film titled Signing Tony Raymond, a football movie but this time about the coach’s recruiting job. This story reminds me of Brad Pitt’s Moneyball, about how to build a winning team finding the right people. A young college football coach (armed with a lucrative NIL offer) is sent to rural Alabama to sign the nation’s top high school defensive end and soon finds himself trying to outflank a frenzy of rival recruiters, fight off grifting townsfolk galore, and somehow also win over the player’s wildly dysfunctional family. Inspired by a true story. “Owen’s perspective brings a rare mix of insight and humor to the realities of college football today.” Starring Michael Mosley as Coach Walt McFadden, with Mira Sorvino & Rob Morgan, featuring football legends Marshawn Lynch, Brian Bosworth and Champ Bailey. This looks like a kooky comedy about the eccentricities of small town American more than a mainstream sports movie.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Glen Owen’s film Signing Tony Raymond, direct from YouTube:

Signing Tony Raymond Poster

Set in the Deep South, the film follows Coach Walt McFadden (Michael Mosley), a talented but idealistic assistant coach at Louisiana University who’s out of second chances. After failing to land a top recruit the previous year, Coach Walt is given one last shot at redemption: signing the nation’s number one defensive end, Tony Raymond — or losing his job. His pursuit takes him deep into the backwoods of Alabama, where he discovers that money, not talent, often determines who wins. Signing Tony Raymond is directed by American filmmaker Glen Owen (a University of Georgia basketball alum), director of the film Stalked Within previously, plus the “Gillian in Georgia” series and sports doc “Comeback: A March Madness Story” on TV. Produced by John Thomas, Kristy Clabaugh, Don Mandrik, and Glen Owen. The film just premiered at the 2025 Austin Film Festival this month. Iconic will debut Glen Owen’s Signing Tony Raymond film in theaters starting sometime in early 2026. Stay tuned for the exact release date next year. Anyone into this?

Why Did Michael J. Fox Replace Eric Stoltz in 'Back to the Future'?

Why Did Michael J. Fox Replace Eric Stoltz in ‘Back to the Future’? – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Back to the Future reigns as one of the most famous film franchises in history. The year 1985 has become a staple in pop culture (even a song by SR-71 is titled after the year), and one of the most iconic figures from that era is Marty McFly: a high school student who travels to the future, then the past, in all three movies. Though the world knows Michael J. Fox brought the character to life, some don’t realize that the role was initially given to Eric Stoltz, whom Michael replaced weeks after production had already begun.

Now that Michael has released his book, Future Boy, which details his hectic schedule balancing Back to the Future and Family Ties, the Parkinson’s Disease advocate revealed what actually happened when he replaced Eric.

Here, Hollywood Life has the breakdown of why Michael replaced Eric and how the two really feel about each other.

Original “Marty McFly” actor Eric Stoltz on being fired from Back to the Future (1985) pic.twitter.com/G0AyPW7hCX

— Eyes On Cinema (@RealEOC) February 28, 2025

Why Did Michael J. Fox Replace Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly?

Michael was the original choice to play Marty in Back to the Future, but his obligation to the Family Ties filming schedule took priority. So, Eric was cast in the role but was replaced by Michael because director Robert Zemeckis envisioned a more comical portrayal of Marty. Eric brought more of a deeper, emotional substance to the character.

Via Entertainment Weekly, Michael wrote in Future Boy, “They had already shot for over a month. Unfortunately, the dailies were disappointing. Eric was an immensely talented actor, but the creative team felt that he just wasn’t the right fit for Marty McFly.”

Michael’s co-stars have also weighed in on the production team’s devastating decision to replace Eric weeks after they had already begun filming. Per Digital Spy, Christopher Lloyd (who played scientist Doc Brown) previously said he “felt for Eric” when he was let go.

I know it’ll never happen ‘officially’…but I still hold out hope that one day we’ll get to see an alternate cut of Back to the Future with Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly, given that roughly 80% of of filming was complete. pic.twitter.com/eufo472kR2

— Mark’s Yesterworld (@Yester_World) January 19, 2023

“He was a really good actor,” Christopher noted, before adding, “Although he was doing the part well, he was not bringing that element of comedy to the screen.”

Lea Thompson had similar remarks, per Digital Spy. The actress, who played Lorraine McFly in Back to the Future, had worked with Eric on the 1984 movie The Wild Life and admitted it was “hard” to see Eric go.

“It was hard for me because I was really good friends with Eric,” Lea previously said. “Eric is such a different actor and he could be very difficult. … [He] had such an intensity. He saw drama in things. He wasn’t really a comedian, and they needed a comedian. He’s super-funny in real life, but he didn’t approach his work like that, and they really needed somebody who had those chops.”

Was Eric Stoltz Fired From Back to the Future?

Yes, Eric was, indeed, fired from Back to the Future, but not because of any bad blood with the production. As previously noted, Michael was chosen to replace Eric because the creative team wanted an actor with a more comical approach in playing Marty.

Are Michael J. Fox & Eric Stoltz Friends?

Yes, Michael wrote in Future Boy that he reached out to Eric 40 years after he took the Pulp Fiction actor’s place as Marty. In one excerpt, Michael noted he “was prepared for the likelihood” that Eric would “prefer” to remain silent on the matter. The fellow actors had never met before Michael reached out.

“If your answer is ‘piss off and leave me alone’… That works, too,” Michael wrote to Eric, he revealed in his book. However, Eric responded with a “beautifully written reply,” which jokingly began with, “Piss off, and leave me alone! I jest.”

“Eric was thoughtful about my outreach, and although he respectfully declined to participate in the book, he seemed open to the idea of getting together,” Michael explained in his book.

After Eric visited Michael at his New York home, it was clear to both of them that “neither of us had an issue with the other,” the Teen Wolf star wrote in Future Boy.

“What transpired on Back to the Future had not made us enemies or fated rivals; we were just two dedicated actors who had poured equal amounts of energy into the same role,” Michael noted. “The rest had nothing to do with us. As it turned out, we had much more in common than our spin as Marty.”

Michael J. Fox says representing the Parkinson’s community is a ‘privilege’

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Beloved Canadian actor Michael J. Fox reflected on maintaining a positive outlook following his Parkinson’s diagnosis, calling it a “tremendous privilege” to support the Parkinson’s community through his charitable foundation, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Fox, 64, stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss his memoir Future Boy, which was released on Oct. 14, and to raise awareness for the disease.

“2025 marks 25 years of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised over $2.5 billion for Parkinson’s disease,” Colbert said. “How does that feel to you to know that, that is such a huge part of your legacy?”

Fox said when he was diagnosed, he “took some time to solve it for myself for seven years” before deciding to go public with it.

“People’s response was so good, and then I realized the overwhelming force of that and all the energy focused on that, like I could tune it up and take that, and turn it into something positive,” Fox said.

Colbert told Fox that he’s not only admired for raising funds for research for the disease but also for remaining in the public eye and being a face for Parkinson’s.

“It’s really important that I don’t show up and say nothing if I have something to say, to show up and say it because people that had Parkinson’s for years were stigmatized,” Fox said. “So now to represent them, and to be a place marker in society and claim this ground for us … I’m so flattered by it. I’m so humbled by it.”

“But it’s not about me. It’s about all these families and people that want change and want things to get better and want to be healthy.”

During his sit-down conversation with Colbert on Oct. 21, Fox also discussed what it was like juggling filming Back to the Future and the popular sitcom Family Ties at the same time.

“You were playing Alex P. Keaton by day on Family Ties. Full day of shooting on one soundstage and then Back to the Future at night,” Colbert said.

“The teamsters come pick me up, throw me in the shower, get me a cup of coffee,” Fox recalled.

He said that he would drink his coffee in the shower and then grab a milkshake on the way to set, only surviving on three to four hours of sleep for three months.

“I was 23 years old and I was too stupid to know better,” Fox said.

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 at the age of 29 and founded the non-profit in 2000 to fund research for a cure and to improve therapies for those living with the disease.

Parkinson’s is a disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects one’s motor functions. The condition causes gradual damage to parts of a person’s brain, resulting in numerous symptoms, including tremors, slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles. There is no cure.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning in 2023, Fox said the degenerative condition has made aging a challenge. He described Parkinson’s as a “gift that keeps on taking.”

“It sucks having Parkinson’s,” Fox told interviewer Jane Pauley. “It’s getting tougher, it’s getting harder, every day you suffer, but that’s the way it is.”

Fox said Parkinson’s has led to several injuries over the years, including breaking bones in his face and other parts of his body, and the discovery of a benign tumour on his spine.

He clarified that people do not die directly of Parkinson’s disease, but Fox wasn’t naive to his own mortality either.

“I’m not going to be 80. I won’t be 80,” Fox said.

He claimed that falling, aspirating food and pneumonia can all be seen as “big” killers for those with Parkinson’s.

“I recognize how hard this is for people and recognize how hard it is for me, but I have a certain set of skills that allow me to deal with this stuff, and I realize, with gratitude, optimism is sustainable,” he explained. “If you can find something to be grateful for, then you find something to look forward to, and you carry on.”

Fox officially retired from acting in 2020, but recently revealed he’ll be guest-starring in an episode of TV show Shrinking in 2026.

In November 2023, he was given an honorary Oscar, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, for his philanthropic efforts in Parkinson’s research. The award is given to an “individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry,” according to The Academy’s website.

Bart soon discovers that Tim carries hardships—and secrets—of his own, forcing him to face his past and repair his relationships with Sam and his wife, Shannon (Sophie Skelton), before fame costs him what matters most. I Can Only Imagine 2 is co-directed by faith-based filmmakers Andrew Erwin (of October Baby, Woodlawn, I Can Only Imagine, I Still Believe, American Underdog, The Jesus Music) & Brent McCorkle (of Unconditional, Jesus Revolution). The screenplay is by Brent McCorkle. Produced by Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin, Cindy Bond, Bart Millard, Daryl Lefever, Joshua Walsh. Lionsgate will debut I Can Only Imagine 2 in theaters nationwide starting February 20th, 2026 early next year. Looks good?
