Armand Hammer / The Alchemist: Mercy Album Review

by jummy84 November 6, 2025

If Haram was the Alchemist’s entry to Armand Hammer’s world, Mercy is a shared vision. There’s a greater understanding of what they can create together, and a willingness to add other sounds into their combined vocabulary. “Calypso Gene” could’ve been unearthed from some lost trove of Dungeon Family recordings, dipping into that collective’s gospel and funk-tinged waters; “Crisis Phone” taps into the white-knuckle pressure Alc and Boldy James explored on “Scrape the Bowl” and “Brickmile to Montana”; “California Games” unfolds like a ’70s psychedelic soul epic, flutes and wordless vocals intertwining over a splashy groove, wailing up at the heavens. And there are thrilling accents that reveal themselves after a few listens, like the synths on “Dogeared” that overlap to create dissonant siren calls, or the car peeling out during the heist-movie soundtrack of “Glue Traps.” These details become little vortexes, pulling you further into the trio’s universe.

There’s a pronounced urgency on Mercy, a grounding in the here and now that’s not always prevalent on woods or Elucid projects. The two have distinct ways of experiencing time—woods flattens it by meticulously threading historical events together, showing how they rhyme, while Elucid operates in a more metaphysical lane, weaving facts, feelings, and memories into spiraling, nonlinear episodes. Those methodologies appear here, but they’re increasingly used to react to the wretchedness of our current age.

On “Peshawar,” woods bemoans the sudden prevalence of AI: “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human/Mind, that’s the rubric/Deep Blue versus Vladimir Putin.” The song itself is named after a city in Pakistan that suffered a brutal terrorist attack on a school in 2014, a scenario that now unfolds across the globe. Elucid dreams of “exploding beepers” on “Nil by Mouth” after images of the one-drop rule, the Iran-Contra affair, and “self-made martyrs” stream through his head like a sour meditation. On “Glue Traps,” he paints a picture of the intersecting lives in his neighborhood, reflecting on its beauty while ruing the constant hustle required of its residents. The brief but brutal “u know my body” sounds like woods describing the scenes of destruction livestreaming from Gaza, but could represent any genocide, past or present. After spending seven records anticipating and examining the effects of our ever-curdling history, Mercy presents the results: The war has arrived at everyone’s doorstep.

“Your guilt must fall below the 92% threshold or you will be executed in precisely 90 minutes.” Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for a sci-fi movie called Mercy, one of many upcoming artificial intelligence thrillers being made by Hollywood. This one is about an “A.I. Judge”, very similar in many ways to Minority Report but with a different spin on our tech future. Mercy (not to be confused with Just Mercy from a few years ago) is directed by sci-fi / Screenlife filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, his latest feature directed for Hollywood since making Profile in 2018. 90 minutes to prove your innocence or face execution. Chris Pratt & Rebecca Ferguson star in this cautionary tech tale. In the near future, a detective stands on trial accused of murdering his wife. He now has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. Judge he once championed, before it determines his fate. Starring Chris Pratt, with Rebecca Ferguson as A.I. Judge Maddox, Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers. Yep it looks like a January movie! Opens in IMAX and 3D at the end of January 2026 if anyone wants to find out if he’s guilty or not?

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Timur Bekmambetov’s sci-fi movie Mercy, from YouTube:

“The future of criminal justice is Artificial Intelligence.” In the near future, a detective (Chris Pratt) stands on trial accused of murdering his wife. He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced Artificial Intelligence Judge (Rebecca Ferguson) he once championed, before it determines his fate once and for all and sends him to execution. Mercy is directed by visionary Kazakh-Russian producer / filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, director of The Arena, Night Watch & Day Watch, Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Ben-Hur, Yolki 5, Profile, V2 Escape from Hell, plus a producer on movies including “Screenlife” films like Searching, Profile, LifeHack, War of the Worlds. The screenplay is by Marco van Belle. Produced by Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, Timur Bekmambetov, & Majd Nassif. Lionsgate debuts Bekmambetov’s Mercy movie in theaters nationwide (including in 3D) starting on January 23rd, 2026 next year. Guilty?

Diddy Cries as His Children Beg Judge for Mercy at Sentencing

The courtroom grew emotional during Sean “Diddy” Combs’s October 3, 2025 sentencing hearing, as both the music mogul and his children cried while pleading for mercy.

His twin daughters, Jessie and D’Lila, openly wept as they addressed the judge. Jessie told the court, “He is still our dad, and we still need him present in our lives.” Her sister followed, voice breaking: “We cannot watch our baby sister grow up fatherless… Please, your honor, please give us the chance to rebuild together.”

As they spoke, Combs himself broke down, sobbing while listening to their appeals. His attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, also fought back tears as she described Combs as someone who had contributed to the Black community and worked to inspire others. The court also viewed a video highlighting his family moments, charitable efforts, and community work.

But prosecutors countered sharply, asking for more than 11 years in prison. They accused Combs of showing no true remorse, pointing to his decision to book speaking engagements in Miami the week after sentencing. One prosecutor called it “the height of hubris.”

Judge Arun Subramanian echoed their concerns, saying Combs had “challenged his factual guilt full-throatedly” and had not demonstrated genuine accountability.

Combs’s defense pushed for a sentence of no more than 14 months, citing the year he has already spent in detention since his September 2024 arrest, when he was denied bail. Story developing …

Have Mercy & Check Out These 25 Secrets About Full House

Lest you think Coulier came up with his “Cut. It. Out” catchphrase by himself, or had it written for him in the Full House writer’s room, the comedian has admitted that he lifted it wholesale from a pal.

During his time as a comedy duo with friend Mark Cendrowski prior to the show, it was Cendrowski who, while playing a suave character, would tell women in the audience, “You’re in love with me, now cut. It. Out.”

As Coulier revealed to Buzzfeed back in 2014, “I told him, ‘I’m going to steal that. I’m going to use that someday.’ And he said, ‘Ah, you can’t steal that.’ So I starred on a show on Nickelodeon called Out of Control and it became my hook on the show. And when Full House started, I just brought it over and it stuck.”

No Mercy For Paparazzi: Deepika Padukone’s Stern Warning To Fan Recording Dua At Airport | Glamsham.com

Bollywood couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been in the middle of a huge social media controversy after a video of their one-year-old daughter Dua was leaked online. The video, allegedly shot at Mumbai International Airport, captures Deepika with Dua on her lap in a buggy. The video, which gained traction online, has resulted in widespread outrage, with fans and netizens lashing out at the privacy invasion of the family.

Unconsented Recording Sparks Backlash

Deepika is seen visibly distressed and is noticed requesting the person behind the camera to put a stop to the recording but that doesn’t happen. This action has been criticized by fans who have always appreciated the couple’s strong decision of keeping Dua out of the media’s sight. Until now, the paparazzi and news outlets had largely respected the couple’s request for privacy when it came to their child.

One viewer posted, “Please remove this video. The parents have always indicated they do not want Dua’s photographs posted.” Another viewer chimed in, “It isn’t right to post this if the parents haven’t agreed. It’s a definite invasion of their privacy.” The episode has opened up wider debate surrounding the morality of taking pictures of children of celebrities without their parents’ permission.

Pattern of Paparazzi Overreach

This is not the first time that celebrity parents in Bollywood have expressed concern over their children’s privacy. Previously, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor had asked photographers not to click pictures of their daughter Raha after having first introduced her at a family event. The couple went on to reiterate that they would keep her away from the limelight owing to fears of her safety and mental state.

In like manner, Deepika and Ranveer, who brought home Dua on September 8, 2024, have balanced their approach. They had invited some paparazzi to get to know their daughter but did not publish her photos. On Diwali, they shared her name with a sentimental message: “Dua: meaning a prayer. Because she is the answer to our prayers.”

What’s Next for the Couple

On the work front, Ranveer Singh is all set to release Dhurandhar on December 6, followed by much-awaited Don 3. Deepika Padukone, who’s on maternity leave, is getting ready to roll back into the movies with director Atlee’s next film opposite Allu Arjun.

While the controversy rages online, the incident has sparked heated debates about boundaries, consent, and the right to privacy even for India’s most publicized families.
