Shah Rukh Khan, popularly referred to as the “King Khan” of Bollywood, has won the hearts of people all over the world with his charisma and acting abilities. His fan following worldwide is a testament to his unparalleled popularity. Interestingly, his name was once mentioned in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project, showing just how far his influence has reached.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Mention In Ms. Marvel

In the Disney+ show Ms. Marvel, there is one delightful scene that surprises Bollywood audiences. The title character, Kamala Khan, is riding in a car with her buddies when the topic of Bollywood films arises. One of the characters says they only enjoy classics like Baazigar. Kamala then adds, “It’s not a surprise you like Baazigar. It’s SRK’s best work. Though most people say DDLJ,” another friend in the car joins in, agreeing that Baazigar is also his favorite.

This brief moment is an example of how deeply Shah Rukh’s work has resonated with people all around the world. The authors of Ms. Marvel obviously wanted to incorporate a cultural reference that has appealed to people everywhere. The scene became a talking point among fans, indicating the way SRK’s charm has left its stamp beyond Indian films.

Apart from being mentioned in Ms. Marvel, his song from Swades was also featured in Deadpool 2. Even Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch has appreciated SRK’s talent and supported the idea of him being part of the MCU.

Reports About SRK & Marvel Collaboration

Over the past few months, rumors have circulated that Shah Rukh Khan may soon collaborate with Marvel Studios on a future project. The news started after a popular Marvel scooper handle, @MarvelLeaks22, posted SRK’s picture and suggested that talks are in progress. As per the post, the project being negotiated has nothing to do with Avengers: Doomsday, which is already underway.

If this collaboration comes through, it would make SRK one of the few Indian stars to officially appear in the Marvel universe, alongside Farhan Akhtar, Harish Patel, and Mohan Kapur.

bitchy | Nicole Kidman covers Vogue & didn’t mention or reference Keith Urban once

Nicole Kidman covers the November issue of Vogue. The interview was conducted before the news about her marriage, but Vogue still had time (near the end of the piece) to reference it, with the writer mentioning that Nicole had given off a vibe that her personal life was in a transition. Even without that aside, Nicole seemingly did not mention Keith Urban whatsoever in the piece. She talked about losing her parents, the power of female friendships, how close she is to her sister Antonia and more. Those were the indicators: Nicole was already preparing herself for another divorce and starting over. Some highlights from Vogue:

Anthony Minghella told her that her acting is “skinless.” “I’ve always remembered it. I thought: I’m not sure that’s good, but I look back now that he’s gone”—Minghella died in 2008—“and I sort of understand what he meant. It’s okay, but sometimes you’ve got to put on armor, to protect, when you are skinless.”

She doesn’t like resting: “Taking a risk is what I’ve always done,” she said. Nor does she dwell on mistakes. “You get back up and you try again and you learn.” Her successes, acting or producing, allow her the scope to work on offbeat projects. “I still go back to shoestring indie filmmaking because it was where I was born, but then I can move into a big studio [movie] like Practical Magic, where you go, Okay! But that has an enormous amount of pressure and responsibility and how do you carry that load?”

Women’s film roles have changed so much: “It’s not the Madonna-whore anymore.”

Why she keeps taking these dark/sexual roles: “I don’t know. Isn’t that weird that I don’t know why?” In reality, she is an introvert—but, she said, “sex is an important part of our lives and is still, a lot of times, taboo, and it shouldn’t be.”

Her love of fashion: “Sometimes it’s armor. Sometimes it’s playful, sometimes it’s sexy. It just depends on my mood. Sometimes it’s androgynous, sometimes it’s kind of, screw you.” Kidman told me she sees fashion as “a parallel artistic life.”

On haters, judgment, online excoriation. “Literally walk away from it. Because it will fell you. It will destroy you.” She counsels her teenage daughters to follow Taylor Swift’s advice and shake it off. Sunday Rose began modeling last year, walking the runway for Miu Miu. “It’s very frightening for me,” Kidman admitted. “[But] I started working at 14, so I don’t really have a leg to stand on.”

She spent the summer in Europe with her family: “Going to Hyde Park and concerts, Glastonbury and Salisbury—so much summer fun—Evita, seeing theater, walking Hampstead Heath, swimming there. Went to Portugal, went to Greece, had my nieces and nephews around, lots of family: my sister, my best friend since I was four, and her three children. A very tight group.”

The mention of the divorce: A few weeks after we met, after this story had gone to press, news broke of Kidman’s separation from Urban (she would file for divorce in late September). During our conversations I had guessed as much, but I didn’t want to pry. When I asked about how she felt now, in her 50s, I had expected to hear a nice trite response about the sagacity of age. Instead Kidman was wry, rueful, unsure of herself. She said: “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?”

[From Vogue]

Her description of her summer in Europe was a HUGE tell. She was not in a rush to get back to Nashville, she was not flying back to see her husband over the summer. Which is fine – even by the pro-Kidman descriptions, it sounded like Nicole and Keith agreed to some kind of trial separation in June, so they were both supposed to be taking some time and space to figure out what they wanted. He wanted to bang a 25-year-old. Nicole wanted to work on the marriage. Anyway, I’d love it if we got another post-divorce revenge-fashion tour from Nicole, like we got after she divorced Tom Cruise.

Netflix Announces Koji Yakusho-Led ‘Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?’

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Netflix continues to deepen its investments in live-action Japanese content, betting on the country’s continued domestic growth potential and cross-border appeal. Friday marks the 10-year anniversary of the company’s launch in the Japanese market, and the streamer unveiled a trio of buzzy local titles to mark the moment and build on its momentum.

The new series include the comedy-drama Did Someone Happen to Mention Me?, starring Japanese screen icon Koji Yakusho; Straight to Hell, a dramatization of the life of celebrity fortune-teller Kazuko Hosoki; and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, the latest anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s hit manga.

“Looking ahead to the next decade, Netflix will continue to push boundaries and bring unforgettable entertainment from Japan to the world,” the company said in a statement.

Did Someone Happen to Mention Me? is an original comedy drama from hitmaker Kankuro Kudo (Netflix Japan breakouts Let’s Get Divorced and Extremely Inappropriate!) and his longtime producing partner Aki Isoyama. Yakusho, one of Japan’s most recognizable stars and winner of the Cannes Film Festival’s best actor prize in 2023, plays Gen Takasegawa, a once-lauded Japanese actor who made history as the first from his country to lead at London’s Globe Theatre, only to return home after two years abroad and find that he has been inexplicably forgotten by everyone. The series probes the human obsession with recognition through the prism of a man whose reputation, family and money have vanished overnight.

“Based on Kankuro Kudo’s brilliant script — which is intricate, wild, funny, and strangely moving — I’m having a great time filming with the cast and crew, even in the intense summer heat,” Yakusho said. “This is the second time in my life that I’ve been given the role of ‘an actor.’ The shoot will be a long one, spanning into the next year, but I’ll do my best until the very end to make this a work that everyone can enjoy.”

Kudo added: “Koji Yakusho pours his heart and soul into even the most trivial lines I write.… Whether you’re an actor, a screenwriter, or just someone with a social media account, everyone has a surplus of desire for recognition — they perform, exaggerate, edit themselves, and sometimes tweet unnecessary things late at night and end up feeling self-loathing. It can’t be helped. That troublesome human tendency — I’ve portrayed it as a comedy, without denying or affirming it. I hope you enjoy it.”

Isoyama said Yakusho’s casting felt inevitable: “I never could have dreamed that Koji Yakusho would end up taking the role.… He has taken on an incredible number of challenges, shown us so many different sides of himself, and turned this into an unmissable drama.”

Did Someone Happen to Mention Me? is currently in production and slated to launch on Netflix in 2026.

Straight to Hell revisits the extraordinary life of Hosoki, a fortune-teller who dominated Japanese media from the 1980s through the 2000s. Hosoki became a household name — and something of a social phenomenon — with her blunt, sometimes brutal predictions (“You’ll die,” “You’ll go to hell”), while her fortune-telling books set Guinness World Records for sales. The series, starring Erika Toda, explores the darker, lesser-known chapters of her early life and her rise from postwar poverty to national notoriety.

“I knew of Kazuko Hosoki, but I didn’t know what kind of person she really was,” Toda said. “I just thought a flashy fortune-teller had shown up on TV.… This story portrays the real life of Kazuko Hosoki from not so long ago — one you don’t know — and I’m certain it will draw you into this world and toss you around.”

Director Tomoyuki Takimoto admitted, “I disliked Kazuko Hosoki. Whenever she appeared on TV, I changed the channel. And yet I accepted this reckless project for two reasons…her little-known rise from postwar poverty is immensely compelling…and the powerful partner I had in Erika Toda. Through her performance, I discovered how that once-in-a-generation trickster came to be.” Straight to Hell streams in 2026.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run brings one of manga’s most celebrated arcs to the screen. Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has sold more than 120 million copies worldwide and spawned a vast multimedia franchise with its flamboyant characters and operatic storylines. Steel Ball Run, set in 19th-century America, follows paraplegic former jockey Johnny Joestar and mysterious outlaw Gyro Zeppeli as they enter a perilous, cross-continental horse race that tests their bodies, beliefs and fates.

“Steel Ball Run is a story that depicts characters running through a grand race, staking their own beliefs,” director Yasuhiro Kimura said. “My heart is pounding with excitement to be entrusted with directing this anime adaptation. The entire staff shares this feeling and is pouring their passion into daily production. I look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for this work with all of you and hope we can ride this journey together.”

The series reunites much of the acclaimed creative team behind earlier JoJo’s anime seasons, with David Production once again leading animation. Netflix will host a special event in Japan on Sept. 23 to unveil more details about the series and its launch.

Japan remains one of Netflix’s key growth engines in the Asia-Pacific region, as streaming deepens its foothold across demographics. The company surpassed the 10 million subscriber milestone in the market late last year. Some of Netflix’s biggest Japanese live-action titles are coming in the weeks ahead, including season 3 of sci-fi series Alice in Borderland, set to stream worldwide Sept. 25, and the Meiji-era battle royale Last Samurai Standing, bowing globally Nov. 13 (after a showcase at the Busan International Film Festival on Sept. 18).
