written by jummy84

***Trigger Warning***

Netizens have been discussing about former EXO member Kris Wu’s current situation. Rumours began on social media about Kris’ possible demise which was fuelled by netizens discussing about his time in prison. For those unware, Kris is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence for sexual assault.

Now rumours began doing rounds on social media that the former K-Pop idol has passed away. The reports began circulating amongst media portals and spread rapidly amidst Chinese social media users. One fan, who claimed to his prison mate, stated that the guards were quietly discussing about his death. He claimed that he heard Kris being gang-r*ped by local prison gang members. He was apparently also murdered as he couldn’t meet their demands. Another social media post stated that Kris passed away after going through a long hunger strike.

Moreover, news spread like wildfire when a doctored photo also made the rounds on Weibo, a social media application. It clearly showed a man resembling Wu in a prison uniform. The man was seemingly undergoing interrogation. It was later revealed to be a digitally manipulated image. Netizens realised that the image only had Wu’s face edited in it.

Netizens have dealt with rumours about Kris’ death time and again. But no official confirmation has ever been made. However, this time, the Chinese police have also confirmed the rumours to be untrue and dismissed them as “false information.”

Kris Wu

Kris Wu debuted as an EXO member in 2012. He left the popular group in 2014 and sued the agency to discharge him of his exclusive contract. After that, he went back to China to pursue a career of singing and acting there. In China, he continued work as Wu Yifan. However, he was soon convicted of sexual assault in 2021. The case also involved multiple minors.

Lil Wayne Missed Verzuz Battle Due To Illness, Says Hot Boys Member

Hot Boys member B.G. has cleared the air regarding Lil Wayne’s unexplained absence from the highly anticipated Cash Money vs. No Limit VERZUZ matchup, confirming that the rap superstar was forced to withdraw due to illness—not internal tension or scheduling disputes.

Appearing on The Breakfast Club on Friday, Oct. 31, B.G. explained that Wayne had every intention of taking part in the event, but his health took an unexpected turn just before showtime.

“Shorty wasn’t feeling good, man,” B.G. said of Wayne during the interview, pointing out that the hitmaker also missed another show he was scheduled to perform at following the VERZUZ event. “He had a concert at Drai’s the same night, and he canceled that as well, you know,” he explained.

B.G. emphasized that the decision was strictly health-related and urged his longtime collaborator to take care of himself.

“Like I told him, we ain’t spring chickens no more, man,” the Chopper City rapper added. “You’ve got to make sure you get your rest and make sure that your body and health are just all the way intact.”

The New Orleans veteran also revealed that VERZUZ cofounder Swizz Beatz was particularly disappointed by Wayne’s absence, as the Young Money founder’s participation had been a key factor in getting the event approved.

“Swizz was, you know, even hurt behind it because … that’s the reason Swizz pulled the trigger on it, because Wayne … agreed,” B.G. shared. Despite Wayne’s absence, the VERZUZ battle lived up to its billing as a celebration of Southern hip-hop history.

Mia X delivered a powerhouse performance that earned her widespread acclaim online, with fans and peers alike praising her commanding stage presence.

Juvenile, stepping up for Cash Money, brought energy and nostalgia with crowd favorites like “Back That Azz Up” and “Ha,” drawing rave reactions from attendees and social media alike.

In a bittersweet postscript, No Limit’s Young Bleed, who participated in the event, was hospitalized following a serious medical emergency shortly after the performance. According to reports, he remains under medical care.

While No Limit ultimately claimed victory, the evening underscored the enduring legacy of both camps—and, as B.G. made clear, Lil Wayne’s absence was a matter of health, not hostility.

‘We love him, we miss him…’ Westlife pay tribute to missing member Mark Feehily at 25th anniversary concert in London

29 October 2025

Westlife paid tribute to missing bandmate Mark Feehily as they celebrated their 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday night (27.10.25).

Westlife performing at the Royal Albert Hall

The Irish boy band played the first of two sold out nights at the iconic venue in the UK capital but took to the stage as a trio – Shane Filan, Nicky Bryne and Kian Egan – following Mark’s decision last year to pull out of Westlife’s touring commitments due to a number of serious health issues which have included surgery, sepsis and an incisional hernia.

Halfway through the two-hour gig, Shane, 46, took a moment to remember Mark, 45, and tell fans that despite his absence from the stage Mark features on the group’s upcoming album.

Shane told the crowd: “I want to take a little moment now to speak about Mark who is unfortunately not with us tonight. But we love him, we miss him and we cannot wait to have him back on this stage with us.

“The good news is he’s obviously on the new music which you’ve heard already. And the next album obviously as well. We have a new album coming out in February.”

Shane and his bandmates then dedicated Flying Without Wings to Mark, citing it as his favourite song.

That wasn’t the only moment the Westlife boys took to speak with their loyal fans in attendance.

Nicky, 47, admitted he would never have believed when they started out 25 years ago that two guys from Dublin and three from Sligo would make it on stage at the Royal Albert Hall which has hosted music legends like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the past.

Nicky said: “We were just five lads from Ireland – two from Dublin and three from Sligo – and now we are here.

“I was looking to see the legends and the people of notoriety, the list is endless, from kings and queens that have been standing on this stage to bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones … Frank Sinatra stood on this stage and now its Westlife.

“All our families are over here for a couple of days, the Irish are in town!”

Westlife’s set was packed with greatest hits from their two-and-a-half decade spanning career and highlights included World of Our Own, Queen of My Heart and I Have a Dream as well as swing classics Ain’t That A Kick in the Head and Mack the Knife.

Last year, Mark announced via his Instagram account that he was withdrawing from Westlife’s first tour of America and other dates after undergoing hernia surgery in the wake of other serious health issues.

He posted: “It’s Mark here… Most of you are aware that I have had some health challenges over the past while.

“It actually all started 3.5 years ago in August 2020 when I had surgery. Within a few days of this surgery I was in severe pain and was rushed into A+E.

“I eventually ended that awful day in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where I was informed that due to a complication with the surgery, I had developed severe ‘Sepsis’, a life-threatening infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to rectify the problem and basically save my life.

“I spent the next few months in hospital. It was during lockdown. For months, due to strict Covid restrictions, I was not allowed any visitors including my fiance and my then 10-month-old daughter. It was physically and mentally a very difficult time, not to mention traumatic having to spend so long in ICU.

“In late 2021, I became very ill in Newcastle before a concert and ended up back in A+E, this time being told I had pneumonia. I was told I had to go straight home to recover and regrettably miss the rest of the concerts that December.

“I was referred to a consultant who told me I needed more surgery which I went ahead with in May 2022 meaning I was forced to miss more of The Wild Dreams tour.

“Three months after that surgery, I tried my best to soldier on for you guys and to go back on tour but unfortunately the physical demands of the concerts and extensive travel were proving too much for me.

“I developed a very large ‘incisional hernia’ and I was told that I needed further surgery to fix it. This would be my fourth major surgery since the start of it all, but I had no option.

“‘It is with the upmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual.

“Believe me, I wish things could be different! I would like to thank you so very much for your support and understanding of me and my health over the past few years.

Tickets for Westlife 25: The Anniversary World Tour are on sale this Friday (31.10.25) at 10am and their album The Ultimate Collection is out 13 February 2026.

Sonny Curtis, Crickets Member Who Wrote ‘I Fought the Law,’ Dead at 88

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Sonny Curtis, a one-time member of Buddy Holly’s backing band the Crickets who later penned and performed the hit theme song to The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has died at the age of 88.

Curtis’ daughter Sarah confirmed her father’s death Saturday on social media. “I’m heartbroken to tell you that my dad Sonny passed away yesterday after a sudden illness. I’m so grateful that I was with him at the end, along with my mom. It was peaceful and he didn’t suffer,” Sarah Curtis wrote.

“He was 88 and he lived a more exceptional life than anyone I’d ever met. He made a mark on this world, and he made a mark on the hearts of all who knew him. It’s a sad day, but what a life. May we look at his life with joy rather than sadness. He would have wanted that.”

The Meadow, Texas-born Curtis first played alongside Holly in the mid-1950s before that singer formed the Crickets in 1957; Curtis joined the Crickets — now its own entity in addition to backing Holly — in 1958, just months before Holly’s death in February 1959. Curtis remained with the Crickets as lead guitarist in the years after Holly’s death, and soon assumed the role of lead singer as well in the band.

It was with the Crickets that Curtis penned perhaps his most enduring rock song: “I Fought the Law,” which the Crickets first released in 1960. The song was later popularized by the Bobby Fuller Four — who transformed the track into a Top 10 hit — and eventually immortalized by the Clash, who recorded their punk rock take in 1979. “I Fought the Law” was later named to Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.

Curtis would also pen hit singles for the Everly Brothers (“Walk Right Back”), Leo Sayer (“More Than I Can Say”), Keith Whitley (“I’m No Stranger to the Rain”), and Glen Campbell (“The Straight Life”), but he reserved his biggest song for himself when he recorded “Love Is All Around” in 1970. The track would eventually serve as the theme song for The Mary Tyler Moore Show for seven seasons.

“Who can turn the world on with her smile? / Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?” Curtis sang on the track. “Well it’s you girl, and you should know it / With each glance and every little movement you show it.”

Trending Stories

During the span of the sitcom, Curtis recorded and released several versions of the track, while artists like Joan Jett and Husker Du also performed renditions of the hit theme songs.

In 2012, Curtis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside other members of the Crickets. A Nashville resident for the latter half of his life, Curtis was also inducted into the city’s Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1991 and Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2007.

Sonny Curtis, member of Buddy Holly’s Crickets, dead at 88 – National

Sonny Curtis, a vintage rock ‘n’ roller who wrote the raw classic I Fought the Law and posed the enduring question “Who can turn the world on with her smile?” as the writer-crooner of the theme song to The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has died at 88.

Curtis, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Crickets in 2012, died Friday, his wife of more than a half-century, Louise Curtis, confirmed to The Associated Press. His daughter, Sarah Curtis, wrote on his Facebook page that he had been suddenly ill.

Curtis wrote or co-wrote hundreds of songs, from Keith Whitley’s country smash I’m No Stranger to the Rain to the Everly Brothers’ Walk Right Back, a personal favourite Curtis completed while in Army basic training. Bing Crosby, Glen Campbell, Bruce Springsteen and the Grateful Dead were among other artists who covered his work.

Early days with Buddy Holly

Born during the Great Depression to cotton farmers outside of Meadow, Texas, Curtis was a childhood friend of Buddy Holly’s and an active musician in the formative years of rock, whether jamming on guitar with Holly in the mid-1950s or opening for Elvis Presley when Elvis was still a regional act. Curtis’ songwriting touch also soon emerged: Before he turned 20, he had written the hit Someday for Webb Pierce and Rock Around With Ollie Vee for Holly.

Curtis had left Holly’s group, the Crickets, before Holly became a major star. But he returned after Holly died in a plane crash in 1959 and he was featured the following year on the album In Style with the Crickets, which included I Fought the Law (dashed off in a single afternoon, according to Curtis, who would say he had no direct inspiration for the song) and the Jerry Allison collaboration More Than I Can Say, a hit for Bobby Vee, and later for Leo Sayer.

Meanwhile, it took until 1966 for I Fought the Law and its now-immortal refrain “I fought the law — and the law won” to catch on: The Texas-based Bobby Fuller Four made it a Top 10 song. Over the following decades, it was covered by dozens of artists, from punk (the Clash) to country (Johnny Cash, Nanci Griffith) to Springsteen, Tom Petty and other mainstream rock stars.

“It’s my most important copyright,” Curtis told The Tennessean in 2014.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show

Curtis’ other signature song was as uplifting as I Fought the Law was resigned. In 1970, he was writing commercial jingles when he came up with the theme for a new CBS sitcom starring Moore as a single woman hired as a TV producer in Minneapolis. He called the song Love is All Around, and used a smooth melody to eventually serve up lyrics as indelible as any in television history:

“Who can turn the world on with her smile? / Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? / Well it’s you girl, and you should know it / With each glance and every little movement you show it.”

The song’s endurance was sealed by the images it was heard over, especially Moore’s triumphant toss of her hat as Curtis proclaims, “You’re going to make it after all.” In tribute, other artists began recording it, including Sammy Davis Jr., Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Minnesota’s Hüsker Dü. A commercial release featuring Curtis came out in 1980 and was a modest success, peaking at No. 29 on Billboard’s country chart.

Curtis would recall being commissioned by his friend Doug Gilmore, a music industry road manager who had heard the sitcom’s developers were looking for an opening song.

“Naturally I said yes, and later that morning, he dropped off a four-page format — you know ‘Girl from the Midwest, moves to Minneapolis, gets a job in a newsroom, can’t afford her apartment etc.,’ which gave me the flavor of what it was all about,” said Curtis, who soon met with show co-creator (and later Oscar-winning filmmaker) James L. Brooks.

“James L. Brooks came into this huge empty room, no furniture apart from a phone lying on the floor, and at first, I thought he was rather cold and sort of distant, and he said ‘We’re not at the stage of picking a song yet, but I’ll listen anyway,’” Curtis recalled. “So I played the song, just me and my guitar, and next thing, he started phoning people, and the room filled up, and then he sent out for a tape recorder.”

Curtis would eventually write two versions: the first used in Season 1, the second and better known for the remaining six seasons. The original words were more tentative, opening with “How will you make it on your own?” and ending with “You might just make it after all.” By Season 2, the show was a hit and the lyrics were reworked. The producers had wanted Andy Williams to sing the theme song, but he turned it down and Curtis’ easygoing baritone was heard instead.

Later life

Curtis made a handful of solo albums, including Sonny Curtis and Spectrum, and hit the country Top 20 with the 1981 single Good Ol’ Girls. In later years, he continued to play with Allison and other members of the Crickets. The band released several albums, among them The Crickets and Their Buddies, featuring appearances by Eric Clapton, Graham Nash and Phil Everly. One of Curtis’ more notable songs was The Real Buddy Holly Story, a rebuke to the 1978 biopic The Buddy Holly Story, which starred Gary Busey.

Curtis settled in Nashville in the mid-1970s and lived there with his wife, Louise. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1991 and, as part of the Crickets, into Nashville’s Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2007. Five years later, he and the Crickets were inducted into the Rock Hall, praised as “the blueprint for rock and roll bands (that) inspired thousands of kids to start up garage bands around the world.”

‘Deadliest Catch’ Shocker as Keith Colburn Fires Disrespectful Crew Member

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Deadliest Catch Season 21]

Things were getting pretty icy on Deadliest Catch during the September 12 episode. After making his king crab delivery it was off to the bairdi grounds for Captain Sig Hansen. The weather turned into freezing conditions, which brought its challenges. “It’s like fishing in hell,” Sig described.

They ran hard as gear got tangled up in the waters. Through the process his son-in-law Clark Pederson had an idea. What if they placed the pots side-by-side? It was certainly a risk, but Sig was on board. The idea to double-down paid off in return.

Discovery Channel

Elsewhere, Captain Keith Colburn faced his own challenges. Though it wasn’t the elements that were causing issues but personnel. His crew member Connor found himself at the center of the drama when the greenhorn made a costly mistake with bait. Keith laid down the law in the wheelhouse. “He is the weakest link on the deck.” Keith said. Using the right bait turned things around on The Wizard. Connor was ultimately fired. Keith warned him not to go on deck anymore and get in the crew’s way.

Connor

Keith was angered by Connor further after he found out he was insulting the team. His brother Monte helped cool down a bit. When they made it to land, Keith told Connor to “get your sh*t off the boat.” Connor felt he was harassed the whole time, rationalizing that maybe it was because he was Australian. Before parting ways Connor had to sign a separation agreement. He stated he injured his ankle and had galley photos to prove it. Keith asked Connor to see the photos, but wouldn’t show him. Keith felt he was fine. “Make sure you limp on the way out so it looks a little bit believable, would you?”

Things weren’t as rocky on the Titan Explorer, but Captain Jake Anderson still faced some issues finding a good spot for product. A delivery date loomed. If he doesn’t get enough money, Jake can’t buy the boat. This meant he needed to get the pots filled quickly. His strategy was to move things along in spots to increase the speed from seven knots to eight-and-a-half, adjusting throttles from 1300 rpm to 1500 rpm. Engineer Felipe Miramontes was tasked to watch to make sure things didn’t catch fire and what not. Jake walked “the fine line between stupidity and genius by attempting to attract bait on the outside of pots and inside. The risk paid off. The crew then head to the Dutch Harbor for delivery.

Saturday Night Live is shaking things up for season 51 with a new wave of talent, and Veronika Slowikowska is among the fresh faces joining the iconic cast. The 29-year-old comedian first caught attention with her surreal sketches on TikTok and Instagram, where her absurd humor and quick wit earned her a devoted following. Since then, she’s broken into television with roles in Davey & Jonesie’s Locker and Netflix’s Tires. Now, she’s ready to bring her unique comedic voice to Studio 8H.

Find out more about her below.

Veronika Is a Canadian Comedian from Barrie

Born in Barrie, Ontario, in 1995, Veronika studied at the Randolph College for the Performing Arts before joining the Canadian Film Centre’s Actors’ Conservatory.

She First Gained Attention Through Sketch Comedy and Online Videos

Before landing her spot on SNL, Veronika carved out a space for herself online through surreal, offbeat sketches on Instagram and TikTok. Her account, @veronika.is.stupid, has amassed more than a million followers thanks to her strange, relatable, and distinctly absurd humor. She often collaborates with fellow comedian Kyle Chase, and their quirky videos have become fan favorites across her social media platforms.

Her Breakout TV Role Came in Davey & Jonesie’s Locker

In 2024, Veronika starred in the Canadian sci-fi comedy Davey & Jonesie’s Locker, playing one of two best friends who travel through bizarre alternate universes.

She Appeared in the Netflix Comedy Tires

In 2024, Veronika landed a recurring role as Kelly in the Netflix workplace comedy Tires, which was created by and stars comedian Shane Gillis.

The series follows the chaotic ups and downs of a struggling auto shop, and Veronika’s character quickly became a fan favorite. The show was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and in July 2025 it was renewed for a third season.

She Called Joining Saturday Night Live a “Dream Come True”

When NBC announced the season 51 lineup, Veronika shared her excitement on Instagram, writing simply, “dream come true. See you Saturdays.”

Just before the official news broke, she appeared on the comedy podcast Take Your Shoes Off, where she playfully sidestepped a question about whether she hoped to land SNL. “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say,” she joked, before quickly adding, “Cut it, cut it, cut it! Don’t say anything!”
