Simu Liu & Melissa Barrera in ‘The Copenhagen Test’ Official Trailer

“From this moment forward, your life is mine.” What would you do if they were watching your life through your eyes? Peacock revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi thriller streaming series called The Copenhagen Test, which will be launching on Peacock at the end of December just before New Years. A first-generation Chinese-American analyst realizes his brain’s been hacked, allowing access to his senses and vision. Some kind of “wifi signal in his head” broadcasting it to some other secret organization or criminals or whoever. Stuck between the agency and hackers, he must act normal to reveal the culprits and find out who is tracing him. Simu Liu stars as Alexander Hale, with Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant; along with Saul Rubinek and Hannah Cruz. This reminds me of the movie Source Code. The title is apparently a reference to this idea: The Copenhagen Interpretation, developed by Bohr and Heisenberg, is the foundational understanding of quantum mechanics stating that particles lack definite properties (like position or momentum) until measured, existing in “superpositions”. Very interesting – although I have to say this does look a bit too TV show cheesy for my tastes. Have a look.

Here’s the full official trailer for Peacock’s thriller series The Copenhagen Test, from YouTube:

The Copenhagen Test is a series created and written by the screenwriter Thomas Brandon, mainly of The CW series “Legacies” previously. With writing by Adam Benic, Jamie Chan, Marilyn Fu, Hannah Rosner, and Thomas Brandon. Featuring episodes directed by Nima Nourizadeh, Kevin Tancharoen, and Jet Wilkinson. Melissa McCarthy Gets Engulfed by a Snowstorm on Saturday Night Live

by jummy84 December 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa McCarthy got Saturday Night Live in the holiday spirit with a festive opening monologue, where she was toppled by a huge faux snowstorm.

After a few weeks off air, the two-time Oscar nominee began the episode by celebrating how “great” it was to be back for her sixth time hosting the sketch comedy series. Marking the first episode to air in the month of December, McCarthy also commemorated it being “a special time of the year.”

“It’s about family and friends and classic Christmas music. Come on, set the mood, gang,” she said as music began playing in the background. The actress then went on to show off her talents as a musician, one that plays the “mouth horn.”

“Speaking of music, there’s something most people don’t know about me, and it’s that I am a musician. And my instrument is the mouth horn. That’s right, it’s the mouth horn,” she said before she began humming the tune of “Carol of the Bells.”

McCarthy continued to rave about the holiday season, noting that she “love[s] this time of year,” going on to list a few reasons why: “The tree is lit, and Santa’s checking his lists. He’s got naughty and nice, and Epstein.”

“We could all use a little Christmas magic. So how about we put a little bit of snow to get us in the holiday mood?” she said as a string of flurries fell down around her on-set. “This is SNL, Don’t be stingy with the snow!”

The snowfall began lightly, but quickly picked up, as a wave of snow fell on top of the Little Mermaid star, engulfing her with a faux snowstorm. “Okay, that was way too much,” she exclaimed as she went on to continue the monologue, where Marcello Hernandez joined her on-stage to prompt a “piano duet.”

The SNL cast member wheeled a piano into the frame, where he accidentally pushed McCarthy out of said frame as the two bickered back and forth. Hernandez set the piano into place, as the actress joked that he dropped it on her fingers.

“Now I’ve ruined Christmas,” she said, though Kenan Thompson assured her she did not sour the occasion.

“Oh, nonsense, Melissa McCarthy. Come on, you haven’t ruined Christmas at all. Everyone here loves you,” he said. “Now why don’t we do one of your favorite Christmas songs?”

“You want me to sing?” the actress asked, as Thompson responded, “No, no. I want you to blow that sweet horn.” McCarthy then mumbled the melody of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” while a few additional SNL cast members joined her to sing and dance.

Earlier in the night, Colin Jost began the cold open by portraying Pete Hegseth, who was asked by a journalist if there was “any truth to the allegations that after an initial strike on a drug smuggling boat, you ordered a second strike to kill the survivors?”

“First of all, that kind of cruel, heartless act has no place in operation Kill Everybody,” he replied. “Second, I wasn’t in the room when it happened, okay? I was so jacked up after the first strike I had to make an emergency call to my sponsor — I’m sorry, a guy at an anonymous meeting — so I don’t drink something that I like and I want but I can’t have, but I want it, and I need it and I want it right now. It’s booze.”

James Austin Johnson joined the cold open as Trump, who showed his support for Hegseth.

“We love Pete. He’s a great guy. He’s just fog of war, right? Fog of war. It’s a thing you only say after doing war crime, right? You never hear a general go, ‘Everything went according to plan in fog of war.’ It’s like when you go into the sauna at Equinox and suddenly you’re doing stuff you never did before,” Johnson’s Trump said. “Fog of War, we love it. It’s a great new excuse, we love it. So I stand by Pete, and nothing can change my mind less. Unless of course, it could hurt me in any way, in which case, I’ll throw him under one of Mamdani’s free buses.”

McCarthy served as the first SNL host of December, alongside Dijon as musical guest. Saturday night marked her sixth time leading the show, though she’s made several cameos over the years.

There are two more SNL shows left for 2025, with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Josh O’Connor set to make his hosting debut on Dec. 13, with Lily Allen as musical guest. Ariana Grande will be the final host of the year, with none other than Cher as the Dec. 20 musical guest, making her first appearance on the sketch comedy show since 1987.

Season 51 has already aired six episodes, as Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell all took turns in the leading role.

Melissa McCarthy, Dijon Set For ‘SNL’ In December

by jummy84 November 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa McCarthy and Dijon have been set as Saturday Night Live host and musical guest, respectively, the late-night show revealed on tonight’s episode, which features Glen Powell and Olivia Dean.

The Oscar nominee and R&B singer will appear on Dec. 6, the next episode slated after this week.

As per usual, SNL will take a few weeks off after this week ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. The show will return for a handful of episodes in December, before going on a midseason hiatus and returning in the new year.

The comedic actress-turned-drama powerhouse McCarthy is a member of the coveted Five-Timers Club. She first hosted in 2011 and last hosted in 2017, whereupon she was presented with the membership jacket by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. She has earned an Emmy nomination for each guest hosting stint, winning in 2017.

Her upcoming projects include Paramount+’s limited series about JonBenét Ramsey’s murder and a film adaptation of classic children’s book Miss Nelson is Missing at Netflix.

Dijon, who recently released his second studio album Baby to critical acclaim, is best known for tracks like “Yamaha” and “The Dress.” The alternative/neo-soul artist has collaborated with the likes of Charli XCX, Kenny Beats, Brockhampton, Justin Bieber and Mk.gee (who made his own debut on SNL last year).

Season 51 of the Lorne Michaels-helmed sketch series has thus far featured Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller and Nikki Glaser as hosts. Musical guests have included Doja Cat, Carpenter, Brandi Carlile and Role Model.

During an episode of The Patrick Labyorteaux Sheaux, the former Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert was asked by her one-time Walnut Grove dweller: “What was the most Hollywood moment of your life?” Her answer was an astounding tale about a single night out with Rob Lowe that quickly spiraled into a veritable cavalcade of 1980s celebrities and showbiz heavyweights.

Billed by host Patrick Labyorteaux as “the most amazing Hollywood story you will ever hear,” it was a wild, star-studded snapshot of an era when fame, excess, and coincidence all collided in one unforgettable night.

Hole and Smashing Pumpkins legend Melissa Auf der Maur announces memoir 'Even the Good Girls Will Cry'

Hole and Smashing Pumpkins legend Melissa Auf der Maur announces memoir ‘Even the Good Girls Will Cry’

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur has announced her memoir, Even The Good Girls Will Cry.

It will be Auf Der Maur’s first book and is described as a “part coming-of-age autobiography, part travel diary, part psychedelic scrapbook” and will also feature rare photos from throughout her career.

The memoir will be released via Da Capo on March 17, 2026 and you can pre-order/pre-save your copy here.

Auf Der Maur is seen as a pivotal figure in ’90s US alternative rock, and her career began as she was studying at university in Montreal when she formed the alternative rock band Tinker. She was recruited by Hole in 1994 and played on several records, including the 1998 classic ‘Celebrity Skin’. After leaving in 1999, she briefly joined The Smashing Pumpkins as touring member, and launched her solo career in 2004 with ‘Auf Der Maur’.

Auf Der Maur has said: “This book is about the decade that defined me and my generation, 1991-2001, and my life in the rock bands which allowed me to have a front row seat to an incredibly visceral and unforgettable moment in the counterculture.”

“It’s a love letter to the power of music and one-of-a-kind voices that make the world a cooler place; it’s also an ode to the analog, and what magic has been lost. Sharing what our generation witnessed, and what the world once was, in my hope of building a more livable future together.”

An official description of the book reads: “Even the Good Girls Will Cry begins with Auf der Maur’s bohemian upbringing in Montreal, where her early, deep connection to art and music gave her entry to the colorful and thriving local creative scene. Working as a cassette DJ and ticket girl, she would see (and sometimes meet) the luminaries who’d pass through town – Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, Pavement, Sonic Youth.”

“Thanks to a thrown beer bottle and a long-shot fan letter to a PO Box, her band Tinker scored a life-changing opening slot for The Smashing Pumpkins and, sensing her natural talent on bass, Billy Corgan recommended her to Courtney Love, just one of the many uncanny threads that weaves destiny throughout this riveting memoir.”

“Whisked from her local scene and thrust into the eye of a hurricane of grief on a global stage, Melissa joined Hole for the band’s 1994 ‘Live Through This’ world tour just after the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Hole’s prior bassist, Kristen Pfaff, with Courtney Love at the center of it all. It was a tour of passionate intensity, as a chaotic yet stunningly powerful band constantly threatened to spin out of control. Melissa brings the reader with raging intimacy into the action, offering a heroic portrait of the unforgettable Courtney Love as she howled into the darkness as if to keep grief at bay.”

This summer, Auf Der Maur reunited with Corgan at a show in Montreal for ‘The Everlasting Gaze’, with the bassist also taking the moment to address her hometown crowd in French.

She also got back in the studio with Courtney Love last year for the first time in over two decades, and the two joined forces in an appearance on 070 Shake’s cover of Tim Buckley’s ‘Song To The Siren’.

Love and Auf der Maur also appeared on stage together in October 2018 in Hudson, New York, playing Hole songs ‘Doll Parts’, ‘Miss World’ and ‘Softer Softest’.

Auf Der Maur also dated Dave Grohl between 1999 and 2001, and in 2023 she reflected on the relationship, saying: “We had this beautiful compatible couple of years where, I mean, we were madly in love.”

Why Is Jenna Ortega Not in ‘Scream 7’? What Happened After Melissa – Hollywood Life

Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega gave Scream fans a new duo to root for. After playing the Carpenter sisters in Scream and Scream VI, the actresses separately left Scream 7 before production could begin. The Wednesday star’s departure raised eyebrows because it was shortly after Melissa was fired. Initial reports claimed that Jenna left due to scheduling conflicts, but was that the truth?

Hollywood Life unpacks the entire story about Jenna and Melissa’s departures from Scream 7 here.

How Many Scream Movies Was Jenna Ortega in?

Jenna stars in two of the Scream franchise movies: the 2022 and 2023 films.

Why Is Jenna Ortega Not in Scream 7?

Initially, it was reported that Jenna left Scream 7 due to scheduling conflicts with other productions, such as Wednesday. However, the actress revealed the truth during an April 2025 interview with The Cut.

“It had nothing to do with pay or scheduling,” Jenna told the publication. “The Melissa stuff was happening, and it was all kind of falling apart. … “If Scream VII wasn’t going to be with that team of directors and those people I fell in love with, then it didn’t seem like the right move for me in my career at the time.”

Not only did filmmaker Christopher Landon leave the film, but directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin also stepped down after Jenna exited. .

Why Was Melissa Barrera Fired From Scream 7?

Melissa was fired by Spyglass Media because of her public statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict. One of her Instagram Stories in 2023 included a message that read, “Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity, no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”

Spyglass subsequently released a statement to Variety after firing Melissa from Scream 7. It read, “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion, or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

Who Is in the Scream 7 Cast?

Only two of the “Core Four” from 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI are in Scream 7: Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin.

The rest of the Scream 7 cast features the original final girl, Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, in addition to Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher.

Other featured stars include Scott Foley, who played Roman in Scream 3, and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface. Also, Isabel May, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry and Asa Germann.

Scream 7 will finally be released in theaters in February 2026, more than two years after Melissa Barrera was fired from the project. When the news of her exit broke, horror fans were shocked and vowed to boycott the upcoming film. But with original final girl Neve Campbell and other faces like Matthew Lillard back in the franchise, others are still excited to see Ghostface wreak havoc again. So, why was Melissa suddenly axed from Scream 7?

Below, Hollywood Life has compiled the whole story behind Melissa’s shocking firing, her response and what’s going on with the Scream franchise following her departure.

How Many Scream Movies Was Melissa Barrera in?

Melissa stars in two movies from the franchise: 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI as Samantha “Sam” Carpenter.

Why Was Melissa Barrera Fired From Scream 7?

Did Director Christopher Landon Fire Melissa Barrera?

No, original Scream 7 director Christopher Landon did not fire Melissa, he clarified in a public statement. In response to the apparent backlash he received from fans, the filmmaker tweeted, “This is my statement: Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make.”

What Did Melissa Barrera Say About Her Firing From Scream 7?

Melissa addressed her firing from Scream 7 in a statement shared via her Instagram Stories in November 2023. She began the message by writing, “First and foremost, I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people. As a Latina, a proud Mexicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and therefore, I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need.”

“Every person on this earth — regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status — deserves equal human rights, dignity and, of course, freedom,” Melissa continued. “I believe a group of people are NOT their leadership, and that no governing body should be above criticism. I pray day and night for no more deaths, for no more violence, and for peaceful co-existence. I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom. Silence is not an option for me.”

Melissa Auf Der Maur Looks Back With ‘Good’ Memoir

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa Auf der Maur will chronicle her unique experiences playing bass during formative eras for both Hole and Smashing Pumpkins in her memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, which will be released March 17 through Da Capo.

“This book is about the decade that defined me and my generation, 1991-2001, and my life in the rock bands which allowed me to have a front row seat to an incredibly visceral and unforgettable moment in the counterculture,” says the Montreal-born musician. “It’s a love letter to the power of music and one-of-a-kind voices that make the world a cooler place. It’s also an ode to the analog, and what magic has been lost. Sharing what our generation witnessed, and what the world once was, in my hope of building a more livable future together.”

Auf der Maur famously joined Hole for the band’s 1994 tour in support of the album Live Through This, mere weeks after the deaths of both frontwoman Courtney Love’s husband Kurt Cobain and Hole bassist Kristen Pfaff. She remained in the group for five years and was featured prominently on its 1998 album Celebrity Skin.

In 1999, Auf der Maur replaced D’arcy Wretzky in Smashing Pumpkins and played with the Billy Corgan-led group for a year before its dissolution. She went on to release a riff-heavy, self-titled 2004 solo album and its follow-up, Out of Our Minds, six years later. Auf der Maur and her husband, filmmaker Tony Stone, now own the upstate New York venue Basilica Soundscape.

“All my musical friends know I’ve loved heavy music since 1990, but I guess I look more like an art teacher than a person who loves hard rock,” Auf Der Maur told SPIN in 2004. “What’s so crazy is that I grew up so androgynous and so one of the guys. I started playing bass because I wasn’t that cute. I used to work as a DJ in a bar, and my guy friends were like, hey, do you wanna comedown and play live music and drink beer?’ That’s how I got into this.”

Melissa Butler On The Lip Bar, Success, & Her HBCU

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa Butler, founder of The Lip Bar, knows what it’s like to experience failure — and on a very public level, too. When her inclusive beauty brand was three years old, she went on a national reality TV show to pitch The Lip Bar to a panel of investors…only to be told that her business would never grow. “They were so mean to us, they were so cruel. They said, ‘One of the big guys would crush you like the colorful cockroaches you are,’” she says in the latest episode of Go Off, Sis, recounting that devastating moment. “A lot of people have praised me for continuing: What gave you the courage to keep going forward? And I tell them: ‘I didn’t start my business for them, so I wasn’t going to end it for them.’”
