SNL Sticks to Politics, Addresses Zohran Mamdani’s Mayor Win

A man collapsed in the faux Oval Office during Saturday Night Live‘s cold open, parodying the real-life event that took place this week as President Trump announced his plan to lower the price of weight loss drugs.

“Oh, hi. I didn’t see you there,” James Austin Johnson’s Trump said as his introduction during the episode following a reenactment of the collapse. “Someone was dying in my office.”

“Each week, I like to create a big visual that sort of sums up how things are going. Last week, it was the demolishing of the East Wing. This week, it’s a medical professional almost dying in my Oval Office at the mere thought of charging less for drugs,” he continued. “Maybe next week a bald eagle will fall dead out of the sky and splat right on the White House lawn. And by lawn, of course I mean big outdoor concrete floor.”

Johnson’s Trump recounted a few hot tops topics in the country over the past week, including the government shutdown, grocery prices and the various elections across the nation.

“Hey, all in all, a great caper to an awesome week, except for election. The Democrats won. The lame stream media called the elections a rebuke of Trump’s policies,” he said. “Jokes on them: They’re Stephen Miller’s policies. I don’t read that stuff.”

He, too, addressed Zohran Mamdani being elected the new mayor of New York City, adding, “Can’t believe they elected Mamdani. You know, I’m torn because I like a winner, but I’m not crazy about a Muslim. Maybe he’ll convert, right? We’ll put him in line behind Usha Vance, and I hope I’m pronouncing that wrong.

In what he described as “our side” having “some wins this week,” Johnson’s Trump said, “the Supreme Court said we could stop feeding poor people. You can clap for that, SNAP!”

“And for those of you who can afford food, actually, no you can’t. I promised grocery prices would plummet, and they did — they plummeted straight up,” he continued. “And people are saying, ‘But sir, how will I afford my Thanksgiving turkey for my family?’ Well, good news is your family’s not coming because all the planes are gone.”

Nikki Glaser hosted the sketch comedy series for the first time on Saturday, where she was joined my musical guest Sombr, fresh off his Grammy nomination for best new artist.

During her opening monologue, the comedian joked that she was “in New York City, Epstein’s original island.” Glaser referenced the controversy again later by bringing up Ghislaine Maxwell. She was discussing the prevalence of sex trafficking awareness posters in public restrooms, noting that there is a “really a big fear of being trafficked, mostly for, like, Gen Z girls.”

“I’m getting scared, like, it’s rubbing off on me. I was out with them recently and I was like, ‘What if we get trafficked?’ And they’re like, ‘You’re good,’” Glaser continued. “They’re like, ‘We’re safer when you’re with us, because they think you’re our madam. You have resting Ghislaine face, so just keep that up.’”

Later in the night, former cast member Pete Davidson made a surprise appearance during the “Weekend Update” segment. There, he and Colin Jost addressed recent headlines about the Staten Island Ferry boat they bought together years ago, while subtly touching on a few topical events in his own life.

“So yeah, in case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry,” he joked, referencing him partaking in the Riyadh Comedy Festival earlier this year. “I assume that’s what the article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”

Glaser served as the second SNL host for the month of November, following Miles Teller’s Nov. 1 appearance. Next week, Glen Powell will make his hosting debut as Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler and Sabrina Carpenter have already previously led season 51 this year.

How Much Money Does NYC’s New Mayor Have? – Hollywood Life

Zohran Mamdani defied expectations in the 2025 New York City mayoral race. Upon connecting with younger voters through social media and informal, in-person appearances, and touting his goal to make the Big Apple a more affordable city to live in, Mamdani was elected mayor of the Big Apple. Since he made it a point to call out the richer politicians, voters are curious about how much Mamdani is worth and what he currently earns.

Keep reading to find out how much money Mamdani makes and his overall net worth.

How Much Does Zohran Mamdani Pay for Rent?

Mamdani currently pays $2,250 per month for a rent-stabilized apartment in Astoria, Queens, New York, per Forbes. It’s unclear if he will opt to live in the mayor’s mansion overlooking the East River, but if he does, he would live rent-free.

How Much Money Does Zohran Mamdani Make Now? His Income Explained

Mamdani has been earning around $142,000 per year as a state assemblyman, according to Forbes. When he becomes mayor of New York, Mamdani is expected to earn more than $258,000 per year in salary, per Business Insider.

What Is Zohran Mamdani’s Total Net Worth?

More than 20 years after he and his parents immigrated from Kampala, Uganda, to Cape Town, South Africa, and finally, to New York City, Mamdani still has assets back in Africa. In 2012, he acquired four acres of land in Jinja, a region of Uganda that borders Lake Victoria, per Forbes. According to the outlet, Mamdani listed the land’s value at somewhere between $150,000 to $250,000 in the disclosure he filed.

In the disclosure report he filed as a mayoral candidate, Mamdani indicated that he acquired the land in Jinja in 2016 and that it’s still vacant.

A person’s total net worth involves calculating their assets. Mamdani’s known asset is the land he got in Jinja, but he does not own a home in the U.S., nor does he have a car. Instead, he takes the subway.

How Much Money Does Zohran Mamdani’s Family Have?

According to data for Columbia from the American Association of University Professors, Mamdani’s father, Mahmood Mamdani, earns somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000 per year as a professor. Both he and Mamdani’s mother, Mira Nair, reportedly still live in Columbia-owned housing located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Mamdani’s parents had a three-bedroom apartment listed for $6,000 in 2017, according to Forbes and StreetEasy, and Nair once owned a condo in Chelsea and sold it for $1.45 million in 2019.

Mayor Bans Disturbed’s Belgium Show Over Safety Risks Surrounding David Draiman’s Support of Israel

Disturbed were set to play the venue Forest National in Brussels, Belgium, on October 15th as part of “The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour,” but it now appears that show will not take place. A local mayor has ordered a ban on the show over safety concerns tied to frontman David Draiman’s support of Israel.

Charles Spapens, mayor of Forest, a municipality of Brussels, issued the following statement, per The Brussels Times: “My responsibility and priority are the safety of residents, neighbors, demonstrators, spectators and staff at Forest National. Given the police’s negative advice and the venue’s unique location, it was my duty to make this decision.”

His decision came after a police risk assessment warned that Draiman’s appearance could lead to violent demonstrations around the venue. It was also influenced by a national strike set to take place a day earlier in Brussels, as well as the anticipation of other demonstrations that may occur in the area.

Draiman, who is Jewish, has been an outspoken supporter of Israel for years, but it appears that it’s the photos of him signing Israel Defense Forces (IDF) missiles he tweeted in June 2024 with the hashtag “#FuckHamas” that raised the most concern for Mayor Spapens and local authorities.

Those photos came to light again earlier this year when Draiman engaged in a war of words with pro-Palestinian UK hip-hop band Kneecap.

As of this posting, the Brussels concert is still listed on Disturbed’s official website, with tickets still being sold via Live Nation Belgium. Disturbed have not made any official statement regarding the status of the show.

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani Hospitalized & Recovering After Crash

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in a New Hampshire car crash, but is “in good spirits and recovering tremendously,” according to spokesperson Michael Ragusa.

Per the official statement, Giuliani was involved in a motor vehicle accident yesterday evening, prior to which he was “flagged down” by a woman who was a victim of domestic violence. The former U.S. Associate Attorney General then “immediately rendered assistance” by calling 911 and remaining on the scene until authorities arrived to help.

“Following this, while traveling on the highway, Mayor Giuliani’s vehicle was struck from behind at high speed,” the statement read. “He was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg.”

Ragusa indicated Giuliani’s business partner and medical provider arrived shortly to oversee his care, and no further updates are available at this time.

In a separate comment, Ragusa — who noted he was Giuliani’s head of security — added: “This was not a targeted attack. We ask everyone to respect Mayor Giuliani’s privacy and recovery, and refrain from spreading unfounded conspiracy theories.”

Speaking to the New York Post, Ragusa said the GOP official is expected to stay in the Manchester, N.H. hospital for two to three days and will be required to wear a brace for the broken spine.

The former advisor and personal lawyer to president Donald Trump has kept a relatively low profile over the years. Last year, he was disbarred in New York following a state appeals court ruling that he repeatedly made false statements about Trump’s 2020 election loss.
