Chris Martin Tells Coldplay Fans To Send Love To Charlie Kirk’s Family

As the killing of Charlie Kirk sparks mass partisan fallout, it seems Chris Martin is trying to keep the peace with a message of love.

During the band’s final stop on their Music of the Spheres World Tour on Friday in London, the Coldplay frontman encouraged the audience to send love “to Charlie Kirk’s family” following the conservative influencer’s death this week.

“Let’s raise our hands like this and send love anywhere you wanna send it in the world, and there are so many places that might need it today,” he said onstage at Wembley Stadium. “So, here it comes from London. You can send this to your brother or sister, you can send it to the families of people who have been going through terrible stuff.”

Martin continued, “You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family, you can send it to anybody’s family. You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway. You can send it to peaceful people in the Middle East and Ukraine and Russia and Azerbaijan and Sudan and London, anywhere you think might need love from London. Here it comes.”

Kirk, a conservative influencer and the co-founder of Turning Point USA, died at age 31 after he was shot in the neck from a nearby building during an outdoor speech on Wednesday at Utah Valley University. On Thursday, 22-year old Utah local Tyler Robinson was arrested for the shooting.

While politicians and public figures on both sides of the aisle have condemned the act of political violence, many have called attention to Kirk’s divisive public stances, which he advocated through his student organization Turning Point USA.

President Donald Trump has since shared a statement, blaming the shooting on the “radical left,” adding: “This type of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”

“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity, and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials and everyone else who brings order to our country,” added Trump.

Martin Sheen’s Reaction to aka Charlie Sheen Documentary

by jummy84 September 13, 2025

Martin Sheen wants his son to have the spotlight.

Two days after Charlie Sheen released his Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, the director of the two-part film Andrew Renzi shared how the actor’s famous dad felt about bringing his tumultuous real-life story to life.

“I watched the documentary sitting next to Martin,” the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Sept. 11, adding that the West Wing star was the “scariest person” to view the doc with. “I was, like, sitting next to the president of the United States, watching one of the earlier cuts of this film.”

But Andrew’s nerves were ultimately unnecessary. After all, he said Martin—who, along with Charlie’s brother Emilio Estevez, opted not to sit down for an interview for the project—remained supportive of the final result.

“My perspective on it was that he wanted his son to have his moment to tell his story,” Andrew explained, “and didn’t feel like he needed to add to all of the stuff that he lived throughout.”

And while Martin may not share his perspective on his son’s life in the documentary, Andrew still found a way to nod to the patriarch.

Christy Martin is widely regarded as one of the most influential female boxers in history. Nicknamed “The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” she broke barriers in the 1990s by bringing women’s boxing into the mainstream, eventually earning a spot in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Beyond the ring, Christy’s story of survival after a near-fatal attack by her then-husband has inspired countless fans. Now, her remarkable life is the subject of the upcoming biopic Christy, starring Sydney Sweeney.

Learn more about the trailblazing fighter below.

She Earned the Nickname “The Coal Miner’s Daughter”

Christy was born Christy Salters in the coal camp of Itmann, West Virginia, to Joyce and Johnny Salters, and grew up in the nearby town of Mullens. Reflecting on her upbringing, she told ESPN in 2020, “Itmann was a coal camp. A tiny little speck of a nothing town. Mountains and hills and everyone you knew, they’re either miners or railroaders or teachers. I love West Virginia, I love the people there. But I never for one day thought I was going to stay.”

Her upbringing and family background earned her the nickname “The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” a title that stayed with her throughout her trailblazing boxing career.

She Became Women’s Boxing’s First Mainstream Star

In the 1990s, Christy broke through in a male-dominated sport, quickly becoming one of the first women to gain mainstream recognition in boxing. She was the first female fighter signed by legendary promoter Don King, who placed her on the undercards of major events, including Mike Tyson bouts. Known for her power, Christy racked up 49 wins, 32 by knockout, making her one of the most successful female boxers of all time.

As she once explained to ESPN, her goal was never to be seen just as a woman in the ring: “When people left, I wanted them to say, ‘Wow, that was a good fight!’ Not, ‘That was a good woman’s fight.’ I didn’t want to be a good woman fighter. I wanted to be the best.”

She’s in the Hall of Fame

Christy’s accomplishments earned her induction into both the International Boxing Hall of Fame (2020) and the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. Her legacy has been credited with paving the way for current stars like Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor.

She Survived a Near-Fatal Attack

In 2010, Christy was stabbed and shot by her then-husband and manager, James Martin, in a brutal attack that nearly ended her life. Despite her injuries, she managed to escape and survived after emergency surgery. Since then, she has spoken openly about her ordeal to raise awareness of domestic violence, later sharing her story in interviews and documentaries, including ESPN’s 30 for 30: The Fight of Her Life.

Her Life Is the Subject of a New Movie

Christy’s inspiring and harrowing journey has now been adapted into the upcoming biopic Christy, with Sweeney in the title role. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 and is set for a November 7, 2025 theatrical release. The movie not only showcases Martin’s rise as a fighter but also delves into her personal battles, highlighting her courage inside and outside the ring.

Sydney Sweeney is stepping into the boxing ring—or more accurately, punching it—for what might be her most physically and emotionally demanding role yet. In Christy, the new biopic premiering at TIFF, the Emmy-nominated actress portrays legendary boxer Christy Martin. Sweeney, 27, committed fully to the role, even literally delivering real punches alongside her co-stars. “Every single fight you see, we are actually punching each other. We are going full force,” she told Vanity Fair—and yes, she emerged with bruises and concussions to prove it.

She’s also making her case beyond the ring: “I was blown away that her story wasn’t more known on a universal, global level,” Sweeney said of Martin, calling her “one of the most harrowing and inspiring women that I’ve ever met in my entire life.” That emotional weight is underscored by Sweeney’s physical transformation—training for months, gaining more than 30 pounds, and stepping fully into Martin’s shoes.

With production wrapped and excitement growing over Sweeney’s transformative performance, many fans are eager to know more about the film, the true story behind it, and when it will hit theaters. Find out more about the Christy Martin boxing biopic below.

Who Is Christy Martin?

Martin is a groundbreaking American professional boxer who rose to fame in the 1990s, earning the nickname “The Coal Miner’s Daughter.” She’s widely credited with bringing women’s boxing into the mainstream, becoming the first woman signed by promoter Don King and fighting on high-profile cards. Martin won the WBC women’s super welterweight title and retired with a record of 49 wins, 7 losses, and 3 draws.

Beyond her victories, Martin’s story resonated with fans for her courage outside the ring as well. In 2010, she survived a near-fatal attack by her then-husband and manager, James Martin. She later testified against him in court, and today she uses her platform to advocate against domestic violence while continuing to mentor young fighters.

What Is ‘Christy’ Starring Sydney Sweeney About?

The film—directed by David Michôd and co-written with Mirrah Foulkes—chronicles Martin’s rise in the 1990s, her role in breaking barriers for women’s boxing, and the deeply personal struggles she endured behind the scenes. It doesn’t shy away from her survival story after the 2010 domestic violence attack that nearly cost her life, making the biopic both a sports drama and an intimate portrait of resilience.

Michôd described the project as “a wild mix of inspiring underdog sports-world story and personal saga,” praising Sweeney’s dedication: “Sydney trained her butt off to play the part. The beauty of Sydney is that she turned up to work every day with her tail wagging, ready to go. No matter how tough it was, she was like a ray of sunshine.”

Sweeney transformed physically and emotionally for the role, gaining over 30 pounds and committing to a grueling daily training regimen. “I loved it,” she told W Magazine. “I had about three and a half months of training. I started eating. I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour.”

Is the Christy Martin Biopic Based on a True Story?

Yes. The film is a true-to-life portrayal of Martin’s journey, from her barrier-breaking success in professional boxing to her survival and recovery after enduring a brutal domestic violence incident.

When Does ‘Christy’ Come Out?

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2025, where Sweeney’s performance drew immediate attention. According to Deadline, a wider theatrical release is slated for later in 2025, though exact distribution details are still to be announced. Filming wrapped in late 2024.

Ed Sheeran ruined expensive Aston Martin after driving through puddle

23 August 2025

Ed Sheeran wrecked his Aston Martin after driving through a puddle.

Ed Sheeran ruined his Aston Martin when he drove through a puddle

The 34-year-old singer has recalled how he had to abandon his £200,000 supercar after misjudging the size of a puddle as he returned home from a studio session.

Speaking to Saltburn star Barry Keoghan on the YouTube channel GOAT Talk, Ed said: “I was driving back from the studio and there’s a country lane to get to my house, and I was driving down it and there was this big puddle.

“I was like: ‘I’ll just drive slowly through this puddle.'”

However, the Bad Habits hitmaker soon realised that he had made a serious error of judgement.

He recalled: “I can see It (the water) at my windows, and I’m like, ‘Oh f***.’ Then (the car) stops.”

Ed explained how he had no choice but to leave the car on the road as it wouldn’t start after going through the puddle.

He said: “I keep trying to start it, then I open my door and all this water comes in, and I left it on the road.

“Someone picked it up and I haven’t seen it since.

“It’s the worst purchase I ever made.”

Meanwhile, Ed revealed last month that he believes that his family will need round-the-clock protection from bodyguards until he dies.

The Shape of You singer – who lives on a sprawling Suffolk estate with wife Cherry Seaborn and their daughters Lyra, four, and Jupiter, three – feels that the security measures are needed because of “sinister” incidents that have taken place.

He told Australia’s 60 Minutes Show: “It’s things that people don’t really even take into account.

“Like kidnap threats and s*** like that. We’ve had attempted break-ins, things left on my car. It’s way more sinister than just fans turning up and wanting selfies.

“We have a level of security that probably won’t change until I pass away. That’s just our life now.”

Ed also revealed that he has had some “arguments” with fans who attempt to take pictures of his young children.

He said: “I’ve had some real arguments before. I’m fine with taking pictures, but I just think it’s weird with a four-year-old and a three-year-old…

“To be within the public sphere, you have to take it all, the good and the bad. But I think I would definitely want a more normal life for my kids…

“I want to still tour and have people come to the gigs and yes, I still want to make records and write songs every day.

“But there’s just a new set of challenges that I want to explore now, and that is having a family and being a dad.”
