Rebel Wilson denies ‘malicious websites’ claim

Rebel Wilson has denied an accusation that she ordered the creation of “malicious websites” about The Deb producer Amanda Ghost.

Rebel Wilson denies ‘malicious websites’ claim

Rebel, 45, is currently facing a defamation case brought against her by Charlotte MacInnes, 26, lead actress of The Deb, after Rebel allegedly claimed on social media that MacInnes lied when she denied making a complaint about Ghost, 51, according to NewsWire.

In a statement of claim released by the Federal Court and seen by NewsWire. Wilson has also been accused of getting her publicist to create a “series of malicious websites” about Ghost.

The websites are said to have made false and malicious claims against MacInnes and Ghost.

However, Rebel told the Daily Mail: “I obviously had nothing to do with the creation or publishing of any websites.

“In fact, my legal team was instrumental in getting these sites taken down by providing the other side with a way of doing this – claiming unauthorised copyright use of a photograph of ME.

“This is how these websites were removed from public view. Trying to assert I had anything to do with these websites is just another way they are trying to deflect from their own, in my opinion, dodgy behaviour.

“They know I had nothing to do with these websites. However, it is important to note that in my opinion, is the information on these websites probably true?

“Yes, I feel like it most likely is true with the information I’m aware of after speaking to so many people. You don’t need to search very far to find a chequered history of Ghost!”

Rebel was previously sued by the production company behind the movie, which was her directorial debut.

UK-based AI Film filed the lawsuit in Australia, accusing the actress of deliberately sabotaging the film’s release in order to devalue the movie and pressure AI Film and Australian company Dunburn Debutantes Commissioning Company – named as the second plaintiff in the lawsuit – into selling their stake to her company Camp Sugar.

According to The Guardian, AI Film said in a statement: “These proceedings are regrettable but essential to ensure The Deb’s timely release. It’s a joyous, fun film, and we are sure that audiences are going to love it.”

Wilson responded to the lawsuit with a message on Instagram Stories saying: “Apparently I’m being sued in Australia. It makes no sense. As the director, producer and co-star who nurtured a project called THE DEB for 5 years from a 3 page idea into a gorgeous feature film – I want nothing more than to have this film released and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get this to happen. To say otherwise is complete nonsense. I’m so proud of the film!

“In my opinion this is continued bullying and harassment from UK financiers of the project Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden after I exposed their dodgy behaviour. They tried to prevent the film from premiering there (they lost) and now they’ve tried to stop the film being released because of a baseless US lawsuit and now a further Australian one.

“I’ve moved on, now directing my 2nd movie and loving it. But regarding THE DEB all I can literally say is ‘F*** my life” with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. Everyone who worked on the movie and who knows me KNOWS I put my blood, sweat and tears into this. Everyone knows I’m a ‘truth teller’ when it comes to vile people in the industry. I just want this movie to come out and for all the amazingly talented contributors to be recognized for their sensational work! (sic).”

Kumar Sanu Sends Legal Notice to Ex-Wife Rita Bhattacharya Over ‘Malicious’ Allegations

Bollywood playback singing legend Kumar Sanu has taken legal action against his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya following her recent explosive allegations. The 67-year-old veteran singer, through his lawyer Sana Raees Khan, has sent a legal notice to Rita over claims that he and his family deprived her of food and basic necessities during her third pregnancy. This move marks a significant escalation in their long-standing public dispute, with Sanu’s legal team asserting a strong defense against what they deem defamatory statements.

Kumar Sanu’s lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, issued a firm statement defending the singer’s reputation and legacy. “For over 40 years, Mr. Kumar Sanu has poured his soul into music, giving joy to millions and earning love and respect across the world. Hurtful lies may create noise for a moment, but they can never erase the legacy of an artist who has given a lifetime of music and memories to generations,” the statement read. This highlights the severe impact such allegations could have on a career built on decades of public adoration and artistic contribution.

The statement further emphasized the legal team’s intent to rigorously protect Sanu’s honor. “We will ensure that malicious attempts to defame him are met with the full force of the law to protect his dignity, legacy and family honour. No individual or media platform has the right to malign a father’s honour or trade his family’s respect for sensationalism,” Sana Raees Khan added. This stern warning signals a no-tolerance approach to what Sanu’s camp views as an attack on his character and family’s reputation, promising a robust legal battle to counter the claims.

The Explosive Allegations from Rita Bhattacharya

The legal notice comes in the wake of Rita Bhattacharya’s recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, where she made a series of damning accusations against Kumar Sanu. Rita alleged that during her third pregnancy, Sanu subjected her and their children to severe neglect and hardship. “He denied them milk. He denied them medical care. You don’t know how much this man has tortured my children. The milkman told me he’d been told not to come over anymore, but he still gave me milk. Same with the doctor who delivered all three of my sons,” she claimed, painting a picture of deliberate deprivation.

Rita also spoke about the extreme financial distress she faced, stating, “I have seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in life.” According to her, during their divorce proceedings, she only received a meager ₹100 from Kumar Sanu and was forced to sell her jewelry to survive. These claims depict a stark contrast between Sanu’s public image as a successful singer and Rita’s alleged experience of financial abandonment.

In a particularly harrowing recollection, Rita recounted the terror of the 2005 Mumbai floods, during which their sons Zico and Jaan went missing. “I was looking for them all night. It was terrifying. Even then, that man didn’t ask if his children are okay,” she alleged, further emphasizing what she perceives as a profound lack of paternal concern from Sanu. These emotionally charged accusations have significantly intensified public interest in their turbulent past.

A History of Marriages and Public Scrutiny

Kumar Sanu married Rita Bhattacharya in 1980, years before he achieved widespread fame as one of Bollywood’s most popular playback singers. Their marriage, however, was fraught with difficulties, ultimately leading to their divorce in 1994. During that period, Kumar Sanu was also famously linked to actor Kunickaa Sadanand, adding another layer of complexity to his personal life during his ascent to stardom.

Following his divorce from Rita, Kumar Sanu found love again and married Saloni Bhattacharya in 2001. With Saloni, he has two daughters. Throughout his career, Kumar Sanu’s personal life, particularly his relationships and the controversies surrounding them, has frequently been a subject of public and media scrutiny.

The legal action initiated by Kumar Sanu against Rita Bhattacharya underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the singer’s determination to protect his reputation and family. This development promises to bring further attention to a long-standing personal saga that continues to captivate the public.

Kneecap launch legal attack on Canadian MP Vince Gasparro for “wholly untrue and deeply malicious” comments as band barred from entering Canada

Kneecap have launched a legal attack on Canadian MP Vince Gasparro after being barred from entering Canada.

The Irish rap trio were banned from entering Canada earlier this week, with Canadian officials saying they had “made statements that are contrary to Canadian values” that “have caused deep alarm”.

Announcing the ban on Monday (September 15), Canadian Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Combating Crime Vince Gasparro said in a video on X/Twitter that the group has “amplified political violence and publicly displayed support for terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas.”

“These are not expressions of art or legitimate political critique,” Gasparro said. “They are dangerous endorsements of violence and hate.”

Mo Chara is currently facing terrorism charges levelled against him in May for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag on stage at a London show last November. Chara appeared in court last month, where the case was adjourned until September 26.

Kneecap have consistently denied supporting either Hamas or Hezbollah, and said that they do not incite or condone violence. They have also argued that the footage at the UK shows had been taken out of context, and described the legal action as a “carnival of distraction”.

They were due to perform in Toronto and Vancouver in October. A Jewish organisation in the country has been pushing for the government to deny them entry since June.

On behalf of the Government of Canada I am announcing that on the advice of our officials, we have deemed the group Kneecap ineligible to enter our country.

Our government will not tolerate the advocating of political violence, terrorism or Anti-Semitism and hate more broadly. pic.twitter.com/3KOf84G3bZ

Kneecap have now responded to Gasparro’s comments in a post on Instagram today (September 19), saying his statements are “wholly untrue and deeply malicious” and threatening legal action.

“We have today instructed our lawyers to initiate legal action against you,” the group said. “We will be relentless in defending ourselves against baseless accusations to silence our opposition to a genocide being committed by Israel.

“When we beat you in court, which we will, we will donate every cent to assist some of the thousands of child amputees in Gaza,” they added.

They also issued a message to their fans in Canada, saying, “We have played in Canada many times with zero issues and a message of solidarity and love.

“We are sorry we cannot be with you next month but we will not be silenced and will always oppose genocide. Use your voices in Canada – stand up and speak out.”

Last night (September 18), Kneecap played their biggest England gig to date at the 12,500-capacity OVO Wembley Arena.

Massive Attack and Ben Jamal introduced them to the stage, describing them as “a band who refused to be silenced for their solidarity with the Palestinian people”.

NME caught the gig and gave it a glowing five-star review, which read: “You don’t pull off a gig like that on controversy alone. You need bangers and you need a culture to fill this room. Kneecap have all that, and they’re a fucking good laugh. There’s no call for violence, there’s nothing that should land someone in front of a judge, just solidarity and a rave against the dying of the light. Just 24 hours earlier in this same room, Together For Palestine put on all-star fundraiser for the cause, the biggest of its kind.

“It’s significant like gigs like this should happen at a time like now. The state may try to crush them, but Kneecap have a power of their own. As they spit on ‘It’s Been Ages’: “Controversy won’t phase us, we hold all the cards and they’re aces, try to protect your kids but they’ll hear us.”

Kneecap have announced a live-streamed performance for fans after being forced to cancel their US tour due to the “close proximity of [their] next court hearing”. They will then head out on a 2025 UK headline tour in November. Find any remaining tickets here.

In other news, Kneecap are among Fontaines DC, Amyl & The Sniffers, and over 400 other artists to have joined the No Music For Genocide campaign, while Massive Attack, who are involved in the campaign, have committed to fully boycott Spotify.

Other artists, who are largely on independent labels, participating in the campaign include Rina Sawayama, MIKE, Primal Scream, Faye Webster, Kneecap and Japanese Breakfast. They are joined by the likes of Yaeji, King Krule, MJ Lenderman, Mannequin Pussy, Wednesday, Soccer Mommy and MØ.

To join the coalition, the artists involved have edited their own release territories or sent geo-block requests to their distributor or label. They are encouraging major label groups Sony, UMG, and Warner to follow suit, particularly as they blocked their entire catalogues from and closed operations in Russia a month into their invasion of Ukraine.
