Jennifer Lawrence says some of her past male co-stars would ‘punish’ her if she turned down their advances

Revealing their lewd behaviour during a discussion about intimacy on set for her new film Die My Love, the 35-year-old Oscar-winning actress made the remarks while appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, hosted by comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.

Jennifer said she did not need an intimacy co-ordinator for Die My Love, which co-stars Robert Pattinson, 39, but emphasised he was not among the actors who had mistreated her.

She said: “A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to f*** them. And then the punishment starts.”

Bowen and Matt reacted with surprise, before Matt joked: “Just a little cute social punishment.”

Jennifer then added, in an exaggerated, mock-serious tone: “I’ve just heard of this, I’ve never experienced it… .”

Discussing her experience filming Die My Love, Jennifer said she felt comfortable working with Robert and did not find an intimacy co-ordinator necessary.

She said: “We did not have (an intimacy co-ordinator), or maybe we did, but we didn’t really.

“I felt really safe with Rob. He’s not pervy and very in love with (his partner) Suki (Waterhouse.)

“We mostly were just talking about our kids and our relationships. So there wasn’t any weird like, ‘Does he think I like him?’ If there was a little bit of that, I’d probably have an intimacy co-ordinator.”

The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay, is released in cinemas on Friday (07.11.25.)

Based on Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel, it follows a woman’s mental unraveling and marital struggles after becoming a mother.

Jennifer, who won an Academy Award for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013, has become one of Hollywood’s most prominent actors.

Her career took off after her breakout performance in Winter’s Bone, directed by Debra Granik, which earned her an Oscar nomination at 20.

Jennifer, who has two sons with husband Cooke Maroney, went on to achieve global recognition for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series.

Alongside her work in blockbuster franchises, Jennifer has built a reputation for working with acclaimed filmmakers, including David O. Russell on American Hustle and Joy, and Darren Aronofsky on Mother!

Jennifer Lawrence Says Male Directors Can Over-Direct Actors

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Jennifer Lawrence recently told Vulture during a post-screening Q&A for “Die My Love” that she feels a noticeable difference when she’s working with a female director compared to a male director. “Die My Love” was helmed by Lynne Ramsay. Other female filmmakers in Lawrence’s filmography include Debra Granik (“Winter’s Bone”), Jodie Foster (“The Beaver”), Susanne Bier (“Serena”) and Lila Neugebauer (“Causeway”).

“I have found a commonality in female directors, which is that they do not do this thing, which is over-direct,” the Oscar winner noted. “There have been some times when I’ve worked with male directors where there’s this need to constantly feel like they’re directing the movie. And it’s not even really getting anything done. It’s just annoying. When I think auteur, my mind kind of goes to controlling and … what’s that word? Neurotic!”

“And Lynne was the opposite,” Lawrence continued. “She really built this world and made sure that we were all on the same page, through music and conversations and the atmosphere and the set. And then she would just kind of slowly walk back. And sometimes, from the discomfort of that, from the lack of her visibility, something interesting would come from it. And then she would come out and be like, ‘That’s great, great, yeah, do it again.’ Or we would accidentally laugh and be like, ‘Oh, sorry.’ And she’d be like, ‘No, it was great. I liked that you laughed. Do it again.’”

“Die My Love,” based on Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel of the same name, stars Lawrence as a woman plunged into psychosis amid a loveless marriage following the birth of her child. Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek co-star.

Ramsay told Vulture that her directing style on the movie was born of wanting the actors to feel free on the set.

“I love working with actors. When you really trust each other, something just happens that’s magical,” Ramsay said. “So sometimes I’d let the take run long. There’s a kind of discomfort in that. It’s like, ‘What the hell did we do now?; But then something happens sometimes. I gave them the space in that house to just explore and go in and out of doors. There was one scene where Grace is just bored in the house and there’s that laundry basket, and I didn’t ask her to tip it over with her toe, but there’s a kind of rage in that.”

“Die My Love” opens in theaters Nov. 7 from Mubi.

EXCLUSIVE: Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon 2’s Parul Gulati Comments On Films Showing 1 Male With Multiple Female Partners

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Actress Parul Gulati – who is known for her performances in shows such P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke, Haq Se, Selection Day, Girls Hostel and more, is all set to make her grand Bollywood debut. The actress will be seen playing one of the four leading ladies in the upcoming Kapil Sharma-led comedy film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.

With just months left until the film releases in theatres, we exclusively spoke to Parul about her debut film. During the conversation, we quizzed her regarding the film featuring a polygamous relationship and whether she thinks they effects individuals in real life. Scroll below to read her replies.

Parul Gulati On Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon 2 Showing A Polygamous Relationship

When asked if films like Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karoon 2 hurt women if replicated in real life and if she thinks such films shouldn’t be made, Parul Gulati said, “I think it’s about how you tell the story. Comedy has always exaggerated situations to entertain. As long as the humour doesn’t come from putting women down, it’s fine. The world needs laughter, but also awareness.”

As seen in the promotional material released till now, the film sees Kapil Sharma’s character romancing four partners played by Tridha Choudhury, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan and Hira Warina.

On being asked her thoughts on people – both men and women – having multiple partners and hiding relationships, the actress replied, “It’s just not right in my opinion, one should have clarity if they want a committed relationship or just an open relationship (which I truly don’t understand why people sign up for it). But in my opinion, being loyal and committed to one person is so sexy.”

About KKPK 2

Written and directed by Anukalp Goswami, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 stars Kapil Sharma alongside Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhury, Parul Gulati, Manjot Singh and Ayesha Khan. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 12, 2025.

Vadodara gynaecologist shares early signs of male infertility that every man should know: ‘If your sexual interest has…’

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Fertility issues can affect both men and women, but male infertility often goes unnoticed until couples struggle to conceive. Subtle changes in health or bodily functions can signal a problem. Dr Vishal Thakur, gynaecologist and centre clinical director at Indira IVF located in Vadodara, Gujarat, shares in his October 31 Instagram post the key signs of male infertility that shouldn’t be ignored. (Also read: Faridabad pulmonologist shares how to reverse lung damage from air pollution and smoking: ‘Brisk walking or exercise…’ )

Dr Thakur recommends couples trying to conceive for over a year, or six months if the woman is over 35, to consult a specialist. (Freepik)

What causes male infertility?

If you and your partner have been trying to conceive without success, it’s important to understand that infertility isn’t just a woman’s issue. “In nearly one out of every three couples, male infertility is the underlying cause,” says Dr Vishal. Unfortunately, many men tend to ignore the signs, delaying diagnosis and treatment.

Many assume infertility is mostly linked to women, but Dr Thakur points out that men’s health plays an equally crucial role. “Age, lifestyle, and overall health matter more than people realise,” he explains. “Simple factors like stress, smoking, obesity, or poor diet can affect sperm quality.”

He also debunks a common myth, that men are “always fertile.” “That’s simply not true,” he says. “Men can face hormonal imbalances, infections, or structural issues that lower fertility. The good news is, many of these problems are treatable when diagnosed early.”

Warning signs you shouldn’t ignore

Dr Thakur lists some key symptoms that could indicate male infertility:

  • Low libido: “If your sexual interest has reduced for a long time, it might signal hormonal changes or underlying health issues,” he says.
  • Difficulty maintaining erection: “Erectile problems can point toward hormonal imbalance or poor blood flow,” Dr Thakur explains.
  • Pain, swelling, or lumps in testicles: These could be a sign of varicocele (enlarged veins in the scrotum) or infection, both of which can interfere with sperm production.

“Men often dismiss these symptoms out of embarrassment,” he adds. “But ignoring them can delay treatment and reduce your chances of conception.”

When to seek help

Dr Thakur advises that if a couple has been trying for over a year without success, or six months if the woman is over 35, both partners should consult a specialist. “Infertility isn’t a reflection of masculinity,” he says. “It’s a medical condition, and the sooner it’s addressed, the better the outcomes.”

By recognising early signs and seeking timely help, couples can improve their chances of conceiving and remove the stigma that still surrounds male infertility.

Deepika Padukone breaks silence on row over 8-hour shift demand post Spirit, Kalki 2 exit: Male superstars have been…

Actor Deepika Padukone broke her silence after a row emerged over her demand for an 8-hour shift following her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2. Speaking with CNBC-TV18, Deepika shared how “male superstars” have been doing an 8-hour shift for years, but it “never made headlines.”

Deepika Padukone reacts to row over her 8-hour shift demand

In the interview, Deepika reacted when she was told she was facing a lot of pushback for her decision. She said, “By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as being pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry, have been working for eight hours for years, and it’s never made headlines.”

Deepika says male actors have been working for 8 hours for years

“I don’t want to take names now and make this into a whole thing, but it is very commonly, publicly known that a lot of male actors have been working for eight hours a day for years. A lot of them only work for eight hours Monday to Friday. They do not work on weekends,” she added.

Deepika said that even though the Indian film industry is “termed as an industry, we have never really worked like an industry”. She added that it’s “a very disorganised industry”, saying she thinks “it’s time we brought in some system into this culture.”

Deepika’s exit from Spirit, Kalki 2898 AD sequel

The actor found herself in a row after she exited Spirit, reportedly over wanting to work not more than eight hours a day during the shoot so that she could be with her daughter, Dua. However, her demands weren’t met, and she exited the film.

Recently, Vyjayanthi Movies announced that she is no longer a part of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. In their statement, they said that they decided to part ways with Deepika after “careful consideration,” adding that a film like Kalki deserves a higher level of “commitment.”

About Deepika’s upcoming films

Deepika began her shooting for King just a few days after her exit from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. Directed by Siddharth Anand, King stars Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. Deepika will star in Atlee’s upcoming film AA22xA6 alongside Allu Arjun.

Who Are the Youngest Female & Male Emmy Winners in History? – Hollywood Life

The Emmy Awards honor those whose performances and contributions to a television series made a huge impact. From comedies to dramas, the annual awards ceremony unites the TV industry. And now that 15-year-old Owen Cooper just became the youngest male to ever win an Emmy, we’re looking back at who was the youngest female to do the same.

How Long Have the Emmys Been Around?

The first Emmy Award ever handed out was in 1949. Therefore, as of 2025, the Emmys have been a tradition for more than 75 years.

Who Is the Youngest Female Emmy Winner?

Roxana Zal is still the youngest female — and person — to ever win an Emmy. She took home the award in 1984 for her performance in Something About Amelia.

The Malibu, California, native began acting when she was just 11 and went on to appear in the films Table for Five and Testament. From the 1990s to the early 2000s, Roxana appeared in the television shows Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, The Pretender and NCIS. Shortly thereafter, she retired from acting and went into fashion design.

Roxana’s role in Something About Amelia was a tough one for her. During a 1986 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she said it was difficult to separate her performance and reality. In the film, she portrayed a victim of child molestation.

Just because people were wondering-

“I found myself going home depressed and drained. I never went to work happy once,” Roxana recalled. “I could never be happy; I always had to be upset.”

However, the then-teenage star pointed out she was “happy that [she] helped people,” recalling the letters that she received from actual victims of child abuse.

“I was happy that I helped people,” she told the publication. “It made me feel so good. Many people wrote to me and said that they might not have gone to get help if it hadn’t been for me.”

Who Is the Youngest Male Emmy Winner?

Owen Cooper became the youngest male to ever take home an Emmy Award in September 2025. He won for his chilling performance in Adolescence.

“When I started these drama classes a couple of years back, I didn’t expect to even be in the United States, never mind here,” Owen began in his speech after calling it a “surreal” experience. “I think tonight proves if you listen, and you focus and you step out your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.”

The young actor pointed out, “Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible.”

“I was nothing about three years ago, [and] I’m here now,” he added, before thanking his family, castmates and the crew behind Adolescence. “It may have my name on this award, but it really belongs to the people behind the camera.”

Owen will appear in the upcoming film adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

Nina Dobrev Talks Fight for Equal Pay to Vampire Diaries Male Co-Stars

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Despite being the only actor playing multiple characters during the early seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev has revealed that she was paid less than her fellow male co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.

The actress opened up about the behind-the-scenes equal pay battle in Entertainment Weekly editor Samantha Highfill’s new book, I Was Feeling Epic: An Oral History of The Vampire Diaries. Dobrev not only played Elena Gilbert in the hit CW series, but also her character’s evil doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce, starting in the season one finale.

“Candice [King], Kat [Graham], and I were the three lowest-paid series regulars in the first two seasons,” Dobrev said. “It was a bit of a tricky situation because my contract only said to play Elena, but I was playing multiple characters, which doubled my workload. I had to be on set for double the amount of time, I had to memorize double the amount of lines.”

In the book, Highfill wrote that actors are typically able to start negotiating their contracts in season three, which means Dobrev was making less than Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) for the first few seasons.

“I wanted to play Katherine, but I wanted to be compensated fairly for that, and I wanted to be an equal to the boys,” Dobrev added. The actress eventually got more money, Highfill wrote, but she never received equal pay to her male co-leads.

She recalled being told that “out of principle” the studio “wouldn’t bump me up to being equal to the boys, and so that was probably the most hurtful because it felt like I was really working hard and we shot eighteen-hour days sometimes, and nights, and I was putting my absolute heart and soul, blood, sweat, and tears into it.”

“I remember feeling like the studio didn’t appreciate what I was bringing to the show, and it felt like they were saying that all the hard work I was putting into it didn’t matter to them and that I wasn’t an equal to my male counterparts, and so that was upsetting to me,” Dobrev continued.

Vampire Diaries co-creator Julie Plec also shared in the book that things “got really heated” with the studio when they told the show’s writers they couldn’t use Katherine anymore because it meant the studio would have to pay Dobrev more each time.

However, Plec said that “was not something that I felt was right or fair,” leading them to “beg the network to let us even write story for Katherine.”

Plec said that the writers were eventually allowed to write for Katherine but recalled, “I literally think we had to say, ‘We’ll kill Katherine,’ in order to get permission to use her.”

“Over time, between Nina being generous and gracious and the tension simmering down a little bit, we were granted a certain number of episodes,” the co-creator said. “[But] I literally think we had to say, ‘We’ll kill Katherine,’ in order to get permission to use her.”

Dobrev exited the show after season six, when her character Elena was put under a sleeping spell by villain Kai Parker (Chris Wood), which linked Elena’s life to that of her best friend Bonnie Bennett. But since Elena wasn’t killed off, this left the door open for her to return (which she did in the series finale, titled “I Was Feeling Epic.”)

However, her return for the eighth and final season sparked another battle over pay, as revealed in Highfill’s book. Plec and co-creator Kevin Williamson said they initially intended to have Dobrev return for the entire final season.

“I really wanted Elena and Stefan to end up together,” Williamson admitted, “that would’ve been my preference, but we didn’t have Elena to bring that relationship back around. You couldn’t bring them back together in one episode.”

But Dobrev stood her ground and was only going to return if she was paid the same as Wesley and Somerhalder, who had gotten multiple raises since her departure from the series.

“I was always open to coming back for the finale, and storyline-wise it made sense. I felt like it was important and it needed to happen for the show, it needed to happen for the fans,” the actress explained. “It was just really important to me that at the end of the show, as a woman, I wanted to make sure that I was compensated and that I was an equal to my male counterparts on the show, and so it came down to that.”

Dobrev shared that the studio’s offer for her to return for the show’s finale “was five times less” than what she made when she left at the end of season six.

“That’s the only reason why at one point I almost didn’t come back,” she added. “I needed to be paid parity to the boys. I had to put my foot down and say if it didn’t happen I wouldn’t be able to come back,” she said. “And it wasn’t about the money — I didn’t give a shit about the money at all — it was the principle.”

Plec defended Dobrev, saying in the book, “She should’ve been making what those boys made all along, and nobody should’ve blinked at that request, but at the time it was very shocking. To her credit, she advocated for herself and she stuck to her guns.”

When Dobrev declined the studio’s less-than-equal offer, she said that’s when Plec stepped in and “put her foot down and spoke to everyone.” Though the studio eventually only agreed to pay for one episode at the actress’s requested rate.

“The reason we couldn’t have her for more than the one episode is because they just wouldn’t pay,” the co-creator shared. “It took a lot of work before they finally relented, but it came back that it was one episode only that they’d say yes for.”

Dobrev added, “For the fans I felt horrible and I wanted the story to be told in the best way possible, and it was heartbreaking that the artistry had to suffer because elf this, that we didn’t get to maybe have the few episodes at the end of the show that Julie wanted. … I’m very happy that we were able to make it work and that I came back, because I wanted to be part of the goodbye.”

I Was Feeling Epic: An Oral History of The Vampire Diaries is now available for purchase.

Priyanka Chopra Recalls Earning Just 10% of Male Co-Stars’ Salary & Finding Pay Parity in Hollywood

When Priyanka Chopra Talked About Pay Disparity In Bollywood, “I’d Earn 10% Of My Male Co-Actor..”

When Priyanka Chopra Opened Up About Pay Disparity, Body-Shaming & Struggles in Bollywood and Hollywood(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Global icon Priyanka Chopra is one of the most loved and successful actresses not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. Over the years of her acting career, Priyanka has established her name, and proved her worth as a versatile actor. Let’s revisit the time when Priyanka Chopra opened up on pay disparity in the industry. Read on to know more.

Priyanka Chopra On Pay Disparity In Bollywood

In an interview with BBC 100 Women, Priyanka spoke about pay disparity in showbiz and being body-shamed because of her complexion. PC shared, “I’ve never had pay parity in Bollywood. I would get paid about 10% of the salary of my male co-actor. It (pay parity) is large, substantially large. And so many women still deal with that. I’m sure I will too if I worked with a male co-actor now in Bollywood. My generation of female actors have definitely asked for equal pay. We’ve asked, but we’ve not got it. I thought it was absolutely okay to sit for hours and hours on set, while my male co-actor just took his own time, and decided whenever he wanted to show up on set is when we would shoot.”

Priyanka Chopra Recalled Her Initial Days In Bollywood

Priyanka further reminisced about her earlier days in Bollywood, where she was body-shamed for her skintone. The Heads of State actress said, “I was called ‘black cat’ and ‘dusky’. I mean, what does dusky even mean in a country where we are literally all brown? I thought I was not pretty enough; I thought I had to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were light skinned. But I thought that was right because it was so normalised.”

She continued, “Of course, that comes from our colonial past. It’s not even been 100 years since we shed the British Raj, so we still hold on to it., I think. But it is up to our generation to be able to cut those ties and change it so that the next generation doesn’t inherit the equality placed on light skin,” she added.

Priyanka Chopra Says Hollywood Gave her Pay Parity

Priyanka Chopra was also quizzed about how different Hollywood is, when it comes to pay parity. She said, “Well, the first time it’s happened to me, it has happened in Hollywood. So, I don’t know how to move forward. Because this was my first show with a male actor as a co-lead.” (referring to US spy series Citadel)

Priyanka Chopra’s Initial Struggle In Hollywood

Despite having an illustrious acting career in Bollywood, Priyanka still had a fair share of struggle for a decade to carve a niche for herself in Hollywood. “I would go into meetings by myself, introduce myself, and take my show reel. I worked with acting coaches and dialect coaches. I did auditions, got rejected, cried, then went back for another one. I did the hustle that I needed to do to make it in any new industry. It was a humbling experience. I think maybe I have built a certain amount of credibility, and so I’m doing interesting work. We’ll see if that is accepted or not. It’s really hard to be South Asian and Indian in Hollywood. There’s still a long way to go,” she concluded.
