“When filming, we had to use our imagination, which our actors embraced perfectly.” Whoa – meet the big guys! Netflix has unveiled a 5 minute promo featurette for the Norway monster movie sequel Troll 2, which is now playing on Netflix right now. We posted the full official trailer a few months ago – this video focuses on the VFX work and the design & creation of the main trolls that will rumble in this sequel. Netflix got the original Norwegian action director, Roar Uthaug, back for this one. Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris leap back into action when a dangerous new troll awakes – and this time they’ll need more help to take it down. With the clock ticking and chaos spreading, they’ll need new allies and ancient secrets to stop the rampage. Starring Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Sara Khorami. Producers also state: “It’s always daunting to do a sequel but we truly feel that this time, we’ve created an even better, bigger, funnier, and more adventurous film – if that’s even possible!” This is a very fun video that lets Roar himself speak and explain their decisions and how they made these new Troll characters. Check it out below.

Here’s the VFX breakdown featurette for Roar Uthaug’s epic sequel Troll 2, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

Band of Brothers (and Sisters): Making Music with the U.S. Army

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

In the U.S. Army, music isn’t just background noise, it’s a heartbeat. It’s the sound of unity, of home, of hope when things get hard. And for the Soldiers who wear the uniform and play the notes, it’s proof that passion and purpose can march in step.

The Army is the country’s largest military branch — built on duty, discipline, and service — but it’s also one of the world’s biggest employers of working musicians. Across its Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard components, the Army keeps more than 30 bands on the move, performing everywhere from small-town parades to international stages.

For the players behind the brass and woodwinds, this isn’t a side gig, it’s a calling.

As an Army musician, your stage could be anywhere: a dusty tarmac overseas, a bustling city square, or the steps of the Capitol on Independence Day. One night, you might be lifting the spirits of Soldiers far from home; the next, playing a ceremonial piece that honors a fellow soldier.

It’s not just about entertainment, it’s about connection. Every performance, from a field concert to a formal event, carries the weight of something bigger. “I didn’t give up my art,” says U.S. Army Tuba Specialist Antonio Huezo in the videos within. “I gave it a purpose.”

To earn that honor, musicians must audition and demonstrate a high level of technical skill and versatility. The Army hires across 16 musical specialties, from traditional orchestral instruments like trumpet, clarinet, and flute, to rhythm section staples like guitar, bass, and drums. There’s even a need for sound techs and vocalists who can command a room with more than just volume.

At the top of the pyramid are the Army’s four Premier Bands: The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” The U.S. Army Field Band, The U.S. Military Academy Band, and The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Such elite ensembles that perform for presidents, world leaders, and millions of Americans each year. These are the kind of gigs most musicians dream about, minus the club cover charge.

But prestige isn’t the only reward. Joining an Army Band means steady pay, top-tier gear, and the chance to collaborate with musicians who can sight-read, improvise, and march, sometimes all at once. It’s a world where precision meets passion.

Every Army musician starts the same way: with Basic Combat Training. It’s a crash course in teamwork, mental grit, and physical endurance. Such attributes carry over into every rehearsal and performance. From there, Soldiers head to the Army School of Music, a specialized training ground where practice rooms replace foxholes and the daily routine includes both pushups and band practice.

The school also teaches recording, editing, and post-production, giving players an inside track on the modern side of the industry. Whether you go Active Duty or join the Reserve, the Army doesn’t just shape you as a musician, it equips you with the discipline and skills to thrive wherever your career leads next.

There are no shortcuts in music: just scales, sweat, and repetition. The Army understands that rhythm. In its ranks, talent meets opportunity, and the result is something that sounds a lot like pride.

Serving as an Army musician isn’t about leaving the stage behind — it’s about redefining it. You’ll play for audiences that few artists ever reach, carrying the sound of America wherever duty calls.

And when the encore hits, you’ll know: every note matters.

“We all perform in some way… George has a real understanding of that & conveys it with incredible truth and honesty.” Netflix has revealed a making of featurette for the film Jay Kelly, from filmmaker Noah Baumbach, starring the one-and-only George Clooney as mega famous actor Jay Kelly. It first premiered at the 2025 Venice & Telluride Film Festivals, and begins playing in theaters starting this week before it’s on Netflix in December. Jay Kelly and his devoted manager Ron embark upon a whirlwind, profound journey across Europe. They confront choices they’ve made, relationships with loved ones and the legacies they will leave behind. The huge ensemble cast features George Clooney as Jay Kelly and Adam Sandler as his long-time manager, plus Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Greta Gerwig, Eve Hewson, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Lenny Henry, Emily Mortimer, & many more. “You’re never alone.” “Really? I think I’m always alone.” This is a wonderful film about being an actor, and about being human and how making movies connects us all anyway. This featurette focuses on Clooney as an actor, with a few behind-the-scenes glimpses. Mostly it features other cast & crew talking about how much they enjoyed working with George on this & his humility.

Here’s the new George Clooney featurette for Noah Baumbach’s film Jay Kelly, from Netflix’s YouTube:

Adele Making Acting Debut In Tom Ford Film

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Adele will make her acting debut in Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of the 1982 Anne Rice novel directed and produced by fashion maven Tom Ford. Production is underway in London and Rome, with a fall 2026 release in the offing.

Set in 18th century Venice amid a backdrop of opera, Cry to Heaven will also star Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and Mark Strong. It’d Ford’s third film, following the 2009 Oscar-nominated, Firth-starring A Single Man and 2016’s Nocturnal Animals.

Adele has kept a low profile since concluding a 10-show summer 2024 residency at Munich’s Sonderfreifläche Messe. The run sold more than 730,000 tickets, setting a new record for any concert residency outside of Las Vegas.

Afterwards, she told German broadcaster ZDF that she’d be taking a “big break” from performing. The U.K. superstar’s latest album, 2021’s 30, topped charts around the world and is certified for U.S. shipments of three million copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Fire and Water: The Making of the Avatar Films Review: Pandora Is Real

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

In what now feels like a humbling admission of my own naiveté, I sat down to watch “Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films” under the baseless impression that Disney+’s new streaming documentary was a legitimate creative exercise in its own right, and therefore worthy of review. My bad.

I knew, of course, that its release was timed to stoke interest in next month’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” (my interest in which requires no further stoking, I assure you), just as I knew better than to expect the most corporate of movie studios to serve up a candid, “Megadoc”-like glimpse behind the scenes of a James Cameron set just a few short weeks before the headstrong auteur’s latest blockbuster is set to open in every multiplex on planet earth.

IN YOUR DREAMS - In Your Dreams is a comedy adventure about Stevie (12) and her little brother Elliot (8) who journey into the absurd landscape of their own dreams. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate dream come true... the perfect family. Cr: Netflix © 2025

And yet, if only because the “Avatar” franchise is so deserving of more serious examination, it never occurred to me that a feature-length window into the intricacies of its creation would settle for being a transparent piece of sponsored content. Or that, even worse, it would be arbitrarily divided into episodes in order to inflate the view count and/or pander to short attention spans (Eywa wept).

Directed by Thomas C. Grane, “Fire and Water: Making the Avatar Films” is so unabashedly a glorified EPK that it opens with Cameron imploring viewers to stick around till the end for a sneak peak at the next installment of the franchise (spoiler alert: While the eventual clip promises to be a crucial scene in the actual movie, it’s a bit whatever out of context). Back when America was a real country and physical media was still a multi-billion dollar industry, this kind of thing would be automatically packaged on every Blu-ray from “Avatar” to “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.”

In fact, some — or even most? — of the footage in “Making the Avatar Films” was included on the collector’s edition disc that Disney released for “The Way of Water” two years ago. I’d be all for offering subscribers “free” access to that content, but for a service that provides so little original programming, it feels somewhat disingenuous to frame this as a major event.

And yet, for all of those complaints, it’s undeniably fascinating to watch how Cameron and his team put these marvels together, and there is at least some value to seeing a more fully collated look at how the very blue sausage gets made. That value stems from the other thing that Cameron announces directly to camera at the start of the doc: “I want to let you in on a little secret,” he says. “‘Avatar’ films are not made by computers. They’re made by people.”

True enough, while the documentary that follows has a heavy emphasis on the bespoke technology behind the franchise’s living alien world (specifically as it pertains to the subaquatic challenges invited by “The Way of Water”), every instance of on-set problem-solving — every detail of how that technology was leveraged towards creating a singularly immersive sense of wonder — is visibly grounded in the work of brilliant artists and engineers. Clear as that already was to anyone who’s sifted through the various featurettes that have been made about these films, the 75-minute running time of Grane’s whatever this is allows him to hammer the point home with greater emphasis than ever before.

While Cameron has been a bit more bullish about incorporating AI into his workflow than you might expect from the man who invented Skynet (to say nothing of the hideous AI upscaling he recently inflicted upon several of his greatest films), “Making the Avatar Films” is nothing if not a testament to the fact that the most sophisticated motion pictures ever created are indivisibly human at heart.

Indeed, “Making the Avatar Films” is nothing but a testament to that fact, but it’s totally enjoyable to watch so far as such testaments go. The project has the hodgepodge structure of a dozen Blu-ray bonus features cut together, but it adheres to the general chronology of Cameron and co. figuring out how to shoot performance capture underwater. While the director is a militant visionary who refuses to take “no” for an answer, there’s something enjoyably childlike to his process of trial-and-error.

We don’t get to see him ideating about the characters or the story beats (this entire documentary takes place on one of two soundstages, save for a brief excursion to the Bahamas in the middle), so our entire sense of his creative drive is focused on figuring out how to make the movie’s aquatic stunts feel believable to the naked eye. As a result, that challenge reads as less of an obstacle than an excuse — a manufactured invitation to do things that had never been done before. As Cameron puts it, a mischievous smile on his face: “The second you decide to make a movie underwater, you’ve just opened a gigantic can of whoop-ass on yourself.”

We watch as Cameron and his team come to the realization that dry-for-wet wire work isn’t convincing enough to get the job done, which gives them permission to “think of it like the space program” and model the “Way of Water” soundstage after NASA’s training facilities, complete with massive water tanks. But every solution brings another five problems along with it, as the crew soon realizes that the infrared lighting scheme they used on the first “Avatar” won’t work in an environment that’s 800 times denser than air. Oh no, I guess they’ll just have to shoot with infrared and ultraviolet light at the same time and invent a program that allows them to synthesize the two camera feeds in real-time.

Subsequent headaches inspire a similar creative giddiness, to a degree that left me wondering if Cameron was as fulfilled by writing the movie’s script as he was by figuring out that he could address a crucial lighting issue by coating the surface of the water tank in tiny white ping-pong balls. The wave machine someone invented to simulate the oceans of Pandora risks crushing the actors to death under eight pounds of steel? I guess the boys will just have to put their heads together and design an elaborate, jail-like structure to keep people safe from the device. Shooting “wet for wet” requires the cast to hold their breath for several minutes at a time? That sounds like a great excuse to hang out with underwater parkour expert Kirk Krack for several weeks on end — freediving lessons for everyone! It’s basically just billionaire summer camp for nerds.

Having said that, the most compelling aspect of this doc isn’t the tech itself, but rather how these newfangled tools allow Cameron to reinforce the most basic aspects of cinematic storytelling. For all of the toys at his disposal, Cameron never loses sight of — and is always driven by — the simple fact that Pandora will never feel real to audiences if it doesn’t feel real to his actors. “Acting is truth in imagined circumstances,” Sam Worthington pops up to remind us, but the “Avatar” movies wouldn’t be able to engineer a fraction of their emotionality if not for how far Cameron went to make its circumstances easier for his cast to imagine.

We don’t get to see much in the way of the director helping Sigourney Weaver or Zoe Saldaña to better understand their motivation or whatnot, but perhaps that’s because he didn’t really have to do that. The freediving, the man-made waves, the specific PSI that Neytiri would require to pull open a half-submerged door on a sinking ship, and the rest of the solved problems that Cameron assigned himself allow the swimming pool to function as a portal to another world, as primordial emotion and newfangled technology are braided together as organically as Na’vi dreadlocks into the roots of the Hometree in order to make both sides of the equation seem as real as the back of your hand.

To a less rewarding but even more lucid degree than the “Avatar” movies themselves, this slapdash making-of documentary serves as an all too necessary reminder that digital film technology — including but not limited to AI — is little more than a parlor trick, if not for the presence of a human soul behind it.

Bethan Moore Talks ‘The Widow Making Syndicate’

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Deadline has partnered with The Brit List to profile some of the emerging writers who have made this year’s ranking of the best unproduced UK film and TV projects. Launched in 2007, The Brit List has previously featured projects including The King’s Speech and Paddington. In this piece, we talk to Bethan Moore about her Brit List 2025 script The Widow Making Syndicate.

While British writer Bethan Moore spent much of her childhood abroad in places such as Uganda and Brunei, it’s the six years she spent growing up in Hungary that inspired her second feature script The Widow Making Syndicate.

The Brit List script, which treads the line between black comedy and drama, is set in the early 20th Century Hungary where a village knitting club takes it upon themselves to poison their abusive husbands with arsenic. More than 130 men are murdered and the club’s ringleader, the young, beautiful and crazy Zsofi Kovacs is put on trial, facing the death penalty. But has she actually done anything wrong?

“It was a story that I had always heard growing up, which I initially thought was a rumor, where this entire village of women in the 1920s just poisoned all of their husbands,” Moore tells Deadline. “And this is the second or third time that it actually happened in Hungarian history. There’s been quite a lot of mass poisonings of women killing men in their lives and it just fascinated me.”

The Widow Making Syndicate, which is still looking for producers, was Moore’s graduation project at the UK’s prestigious National Film and Television School and writing it, she says, “really connected me to this Hungarian female spirit that I’ve always loved.”

She adds: “I lived most of my childhood abroad and then came back to the UK in my early twenties, so a lot of my writing draws on the different places I’ve lived. “

At the time of writing, Moore admits she was “quite angry” about a lot of things she was seeing about women in the news, admitting she started the script after seeing the high-profile UK story of Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old woman who was kidnapped and murdered by an off-duty police officer as she walked home one evening in 2021. “I wanted to write about these women who are facing this violence and respond to it in a way which gets increasingly out of hand.”

Moore says the film is in a similar vein to Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Favourite, stating that it’s a parody of the time but based on a true, historical incident. “It plays pretty fast and loose with the accuracy of it all.”

For her research, Moore leaned heavily into books from Hungarian academics and was able to access original court transcripts of the murders at the time. Her main character, she says, is an amalgamation of the women in these transcripts and the script even features a few lines that were taken verbatim from them.

“The courts were making these ridiculous aspersions about these women,” Moore says. “There was one point where they brought in a sexologist who said that they were all suffering from sexual hysteria because the men had been at war and that was used as evidence in this case.”

Moore was also drawn to the fact that these crimes were only ultimately discovered at the time when a local census was conducted and it became apparent that these men were dying. “They weren’t even investigating them as crimes, because it was a completely isolated village,” she says.

“There was no police presence or anywhere these women could go for help. So, when you’re left completely to your own devices, and you’re completely desperate, what are you driven to? Can you murder with good intentions? The main character has a real saviour complex, and she really believes in what she is doing until it gets completely out of hand and everyone starts dying. It’s definitely not a script that condones murder – it’s more of a script that questions where this violence comes from and what people are driven to.”

bitchy | Sarah Ferguson is ‘working with fixers’ & making a plan to launch a comeback

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Despite the palace’s briefings that they’re treating Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson harshly, nothing could be further from the truth. Andrew will likely move into a palatial “cottage” on the Sandringham estate and enjoy a well-funded retirement in Norfolk. Sarah is being cut loose, but she’s been given two months to basically figure out her next moves. Sarah’s team has already briefed outlets on her plans to move forward independently and no longer live with her ex-husband. So what’s Sarah’s plan? The Sun claims that Fergie has hired a new team to put together a comeback plan. Which sounds like… something Sarah would absolutely do.

The former Duchess of York is plotting her comeback and is set to finally separate from ex-husband Andrew — 30 years after they divorced. Sarah Ferguson has held talks with an expensive “brand rescue team” after being stripped of her title and kicked out of Royal Lodge.

Fergie lost a string of patronages after The Sun on Sunday revealed she had emailed Jeffrey Epstein calling him a “supreme friend” and apologising for saying he was a paedophile. She was also axed from ITV daytime telly show Loose Women.

Sarah, 66, is expected to be forced to shed most of her staff and flunkeys after Andrew was finally forced out of his 30-room Windsor mansion. Sarah and Andrew married in 1986 and divorced in 1996. She moved into his Royal Lodge home in 2008.

Now, for the first time in 17 years, Fergie is set to fend for herself. Her daughters — Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie — are said to be encouraging their mum to embark on a rebrand. It is understood she is working with fixers who operate with some of the biggest brands. And Sarah has told her team of experts she wants to be a leader in the “female positivity world”. The one-time duchess wants to embark on a number of branding and commercial opportunities as a mother and philanthropist.

A source said yesterday: “Sarah has always been a grafter and a hard worker and always finds ways of making money and getting out of a hole. She has expensive tastes and massive outgoings but always found a way to make ends meet. Calls from brands may go unanswered right now but she is still Sarah Ferguson and still a big name.”

Meanwhile, a friend insisted Sarah was “taking stock” after a stressful few months and hoped to “let the dust settle” before moving on.

[From The Sun]

As we’ve discussed a lot in the past month, Sarah has made and lost several fortunes already. I have no idea where all of the money has gone – she obviously lives large and has no idea how to budget or save, but still. It’s insane that she’s a woman in her 60s and she should have a retirement nest egg worth millions, but apparently the money is all gone and she’s planning to launch another dumb comeback. This comeback will fail as well – after everything that’s happened, no one wants it, no one will pay her for anything.

Shah Rukh Khan Thanks Fans For Making His 60th Birthday ‘Special’ – Watch The Video! | Glamsham.com

written by jummy84

Shah Rukh Khan’s 60th birthday turned out to be an emotional affair that brought together fans from all over the world. The Bollywood superstar, who has been ruling hearts for more than three decades now, resorted to sending out a special video message and a selfie clip, thanking admirers for endless love and support.

But this year’s birthday was different. On previous birthdays, thousands of fans would gather outside his iconic home, Mannat, to catch a glimpse of him waving from the balcony, while SRK chose not to step out this time due to safety and crowd control reasons. Earlier in the day, the Jawan actor took to X to share an apology, saying, “Have been advised by authorities that I will not be able to step out and greet all you lovely people who have been waiting for me… Thank you for understanding, and believe me, I will miss seeing you more than you will.”

Though absent in person, Shah Rukh made sure the enthusiasm of his fans was met with his warmth and regard. He shared a chirpy video selfie from the Mumbai fan meet wearing a grey beanie and spectacles. He was mobbed by fans, grinning from ear to ear. “Thank you for making my birthday special as always. Full of gratitude… and those of you I couldn’t meet, I will see you soon. In the theatres and at the next birthday. Love u.”

For years, a glimpse of SRK greeting his fans from Mannat has been the most cherished sight to anyone who loves him. Without the grand public appearance this time, too, the birthday was an epitome of humility, gratitude, and attachment with his fans worldwide-in short, the reason Shah Rukh Khan is called the “King of Hearts.”

Eagle Making Of Featurette for Laika’s ‘Wildwood’ Magical Adventure

“Known throughout Wildwood as The General. She embodies power & unshakeable grace.” Laika revealed a fascinating 3-minute making of featurette for their next stop-motion animated movie called Wildwood – now set for release sometime in 2026. We featured the very first teaser for this back in 2024 – they’ve been developing it for years and it’s only now finishing up. The character of Prue was revealed in the first look – Prue McKeel (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and her friend Curtis are drawn into a hidden, magical forest near Portland after Prue’s baby brother Mac is kidnapped by crows, led by a mysterious woman. The voice cast includes Jacob Tremblay as Curtis, Carey Mulligan, Awkwafina, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Tom Waits, Jemaine Clement, & Richard E. Grant. This promo focuses on their famous stop-motion studio (based in Portland) figure out how to create the magical Golden Eagle character. They built 2 extraordinary puppets used in filming. “Meet The General, voiced by Angela Bassett, a fierce warrior and leader of the skies. Behind the scenes, the brilliant artists at Laika Studios are hand-crafting a character that soars beyond the screen through breathtaking stop-motion animation.” Can’t wait to see more. I love watching videos of stop-motion animation craft, always astonishing what they make.

Here’s the first look featurette for Travis Knight’s new film Wildwood, direct from Laika’s YouTube:

Step inside Laika’s Wildwood, where a powerful golden eagle commands the skies and magic takes flight. Wildwood – based on Colin Meloy’s illustrated book series – will see Prue McKeel leave behind her home of Portland, Oregon, venturing into Wildwood on a dark quest to save her baby brother, who’s been pilfered by a murder of crows. Wildwood is once again directed by filmmaker Travis Knight, who is also CEO of Laika, and director of the the movies Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee previously. The screenplay is written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link). Based on the graphic novel series written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. Produced by Arianne Sutner and Travis Knight. Made by Laika Entertainment’s animators based in Portland, Oregon. There’s no final release date for Wildwood yet – expected to arrive in early 2026. Stay tuned for updates – head to the film’s official site.
