bitchy | The palace lied about Princess Kate doing her own wedding-day makeup

So much of the Princess of Wales’s wedding look holds up. She went for a super-traditional wedding gown and it looked great. She single-handedly brought back lace sleeves for wedding gowns. It was considered controversial that she wore her hair half-down, but it looked nice. Her veil was pretty and the Cartier Halo Tiara suited her. The only parts of her wedding look which really “date” the wedding is the fact that Kate overdid the fake bronzer and she was a pale orange in many photos. That, and her makeup was too heavy. Since 2011, the excuse for the too-heavy eye makeup was “Kate did her wedding makeup herself, she took lessons and she wanted to look like herself.” Unfortunately, much like Pippa’s wedding ass, the makeup story was made of lies.

Kate Middleton had some help in achieving her royal wedding look, dispelling a longstanding rumor that she did her own makeup for her walk down the aisle.

Makeup mogul Bobbi Brown appeared on the Breaking Beauty podcast to promote her new book, Still Bobbi. During the episode, the conversation turned to Kate’s April 2011 wedding to Prince William — and while she used Bobbi Brown products, the makeup artist said she wasn’t the one to apply them.

“I didn’t do her makeup. I wish I did,” Brown, 68, said in the interview. “It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin, who’s become quite a sensation in the U.K.”

It was previously believed that the Princess of Wales, now 43, did her own makeup for the big day after taking lessons. However, Brown confirmed to the hosts, “Hannah did her makeup.”

“Hannah did give me some information that I should set my alarm and watch,” the makeup guru added. “We were texting back and forth, and she’s like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.’ ”

When asked if they were allowed to claim credit for the look, Brown said, “We didn’t as a company use it — no one did that back then. It wasn’t the right thing to do.”

She added that she has a note hanging in her office from someone who wrote letters on behalf of the royal, saying “how much she appreciated the makeup.”

[From People]

This is insane, do you guys realize that? The “Kate did her own makeup” lie came straight from the palace! It was one of THE talking points about the wedding and Kate’s whole look. She’s taken credit for doing her own makeup for over fourteen years! It’s such a bizarre thing to lie about too, much like Kate’s dumb hairpieces. Kate’s office keeps insisting that all of that is her real hair (lmao) just like they kept insisting in 2011 that Kate did her own makeup. Wasn’t that used as a cudgel against Meghan as well? Because Meghan came out and said that Daniel Martin did her wedding-day makeup and people were like “how gauche, how Hollywood, perfect Kate did her own makeup!” THE LIES!!

Navratri 2025: 5 sweat-proof, long-lasting makeup tips for garba nights and pandal hopping

Enjoy Navratri nights to the fullest without worrying about your makeup. These tips ensure it stays put through hours of sweat and dancing.

Navratri 2025: The nine days of Navratri see a lot of high-energy activity, whether it is dancing for long hours at garba nights or hopping from one pandal to another. While you glam up for the anticipated night, the sweaty humidity may make your makeup melt. But with the right makeup products and application tricks, the glam festive look stays intact.

Don’t let melting makeup get in the way of your festive fun.(Pexel)

Monika Khullar, makeup artist and head trainer atAnastasia Beverly Hills, shared with us these 5 easy makeup tips, from base to setting:

1. Start with the right base

  • Prepping your skin is as important as the makeup itself. Cleanse and hydrate well, then use a mattifying primer to control excess oil.
  • A lightweight, long-wear foundation or a foundation tinted works best; heavy layers only increase the chances of smudging.

2. Choose transfer-proof formulas

  • Opt for waterproof and smudge-proof products wherever possible. A long-wear base, concealer, blush, and cream-to-powder formulas hold up better under sweat.
  • Powder the T-zone lightly with a setting powder to keep shine under control without making the skin look cakey.

3. Eye makeup that lasts

Apply eye primer to ensure the makeup stays the entire night!(Adobe Stock)

  • For eye looks, an eye primer ensures colours pop and stay put. Gel or liquid liners are more resistant to smudging than pencils.
  • Waterproof mascara is a must, especially if you’ll be dancing for hours.
  • If you’re adding shimmer, press it onto the lid with your finger for maximum grip.

4. Lock in brows and lips

  • Well-defined brows frame the face, but sweat can make them fade quickly.
  • Use a brow gel to keep them in place. For lips, go for long-wear matte liquid lipsticks; they last longer than creamy formulas and won’t transfer easily.

5. Set and refresh

  • As a final step, set your makeup with a matte setting spray with a hydrating formula. This way, your makeup is well set and lasts longer.
  • Keep some quick-fix essentials handy in your bag for touch-ups, a powder puff with mini loose powder or blotting papers or mini setting spray, lip cheek tints, they’ll help control excess shine and absorb sweat without disturbing your look.

Your Navratri nights can become worry-free, especially from the requirement of frequent touch-ups if you choose the right makeup products and follow the right techniques.

Makeup Mantras: Rasika Dugal reveals her beauty secrets, favourite winged liner trick and a sunscreen mistake to avoid

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Actors don’t always rely on layers of makeup and hours in the chair for luminous skin and effortless charm. For Delhi Crime and Manto actor Rasika Dugal, skincare starts with fitness and good sleep, while makeup is about enhancing—not hiding—her natural features. In this candid edition of Makeup Mantras for HT Lifestyle, Rasika talks about her glow-from-within secrets, the only two products she can’t live without, and the quirky DIY hack she uses to draw the perfect eyeliner every time.

Rasika Dugal believes in simple makeup mantras.(Instagram/ Rasika Dugal)

Q. Shooting schedules can be harsh on skin. How do you keep yours healthy and glowing amidst the lights and long hours?

Rasika Dugal: Exercise! It’s the best skin hack. There is nothing that makes the skin glow more than a good workout. But it can’t be at the cost of good sleep. So, a good workout after a good night’s sleep is my mantra. It can be tough to do both when I am shooting. On those days, I choose one or the other. Exercise well. Drink lots of water. And remove the make up as soon as you don’t need it!

Q. What are the makeup products you always carry in your bag, no matter what?

Rasika Dugal: Lip balm and Kajal.

Q. International brands or homegrown Indian brands for makeup: What do you prefer and why?

Rasika Dugal: Whatever is tried and tested and works best for my skin. Sometimes, the most recommended brands don’t suit your skin and a lesser known brand just clicks. It about what your skin needs at that time. Initially, I experiment with a few products to see what works. Once I find something that works for me, I pretty much stick to it till my needs change. Because what is suitable for your skin also keeps changing with age, with the weather, and so on.

Q. Do you have a go-to sunscreen that works under makeup without leaving a white cast?

Rasika Dugal: ISDIN photoprotector. Blends into the skin well and feels light. Sunscreen is a must these days. I have made the mistake of not wearing sunscreen when I am indoors. And that’s a no-no.

Q. One makeup trend you secretly can’t stand?

Rasika Dugal: I am not a fan of bling on the face.

Q. A DIY beauty hack you want all your fans to learn?

Rasika Dugal: Use tape to get your winged liner right! It’s a great hack. Just put a small tape on the edge of your eye in the direction in which you want the liner. And then you don’t have to worry about the liner being swiggly or messy. Once you remove the tape, it’s a nice, neat line!

Q. Is there a makeup look from one of your characters that you were not comfortable with?

Rasika Dugal: Makeup is about the details. It is amazing how one tweak can change so much. For example, whether you brush your eyebrows up or not can just make you look so different! I like to use make up effectively for character work.

Wigs or hair extensions are great for changing the look of a character. Especially, when there is a time jump in the script… But they are the most uncomfortable to wear throughout a shoot day. They can be heavy and no matter how good the quality, the clips hurt after a couple of hours. They are the first thing I want to take off when the director says pack up!

Q. Share your guide to a 5-minute makeup routine for all lazy women out there!

Rasika Dugal: For a lazy day: Moisturize really well, put on some sunscreen. Wear Kohl. Glossy lip balm. And you are ready to go.

For a not so lazy day: In addition to the lazy day routine, apply a nice primer. Add some concealer to the undereyes. Then use very tiny dots of it (because concealer is typically heavier than foundation) on other parts of the face and blend, so that the undereyes don’t look patchy. Brush up the brows and done!

For anything else: 5 minutes is too ambitious!

Q. What’s the weirdest place you have ever done your makeup in?

Rasika Dugal: In a cab in France! On my way from the airport in Nice to Cannes. My flight was delayed and I had to make it in time for the announcement of my film ‘Manto’! I had quickly changed in the airport loo and figured that the only way I would make it in time would be if I did my make-up in the cab. The driver was obviously not thrilled. He kept mumbling throughout the hour long drive. Thankfully, I don’t speak French!

Q. Fill in the blank: “I feel most beautiful when _.”

Rasika Dugal: I am wearing Kohl.

Daus Mendoza x Glamlite Makeup Beauty Collection Collab

What was the process of bringing the collection to life?

The process took more than two years from start to finish. It was meticulous, and honestly, at times, really challenging because I’m incredibly picky when it comes to the details – from the exact shade of a color, to the texture and formula, to how it looked when applied, and even how long it lasted. Every single element had to feel perfect. One of the biggest surprises we faced was when our manufacturer suddenly cancelled on us a year into the process, which forced us to essentially start over. That pushed the launch back by another year, but in the end, I think it made the collection stronger, because I had even more time to refine every detail.

Inspired by the forthcoming season, the collection includes three blush duo palettes featuring iconic Bridgerton-isms like “Flawless, my dear,” and “Lady In Silver” — a nod to a mystery woman in metallic who catches Benedict’s eye at his family’s masquerade ball. NYX’s beloved Royal Butter Gloss gets a regency treatment with two new shades of rosy pink and warm beige, while glimmering highlighters in gleaming gold and pretty peach invite the wearer to enhance cheekbones, lids, and anywhere else one wants to sparkle. Lastly, liquid eyeliners in silver and gold dazzle with a single gaze across the room.

The 8 Most Elegant Makeup Trends to Wear for Fall 2025

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: Nothing gets me more jazzed than the onset of fall makeup looks. Dewy, sun-kissed flushes are fun and all, but my complexion truly comes alive with a palette that mimics blushing leaves and cozy spiced drinks. (I’m a warm autumn and Scorpio rising, if you’re curious.) Not to mention, a blurred berry lip is practically my trademark; I can’t think of anything more elegant than a velvety-matte situation, and, luckily for me, celebrity makeup artists Kelli Anne Sewell and Renny Vasquez say dark matte lips (read: mulled wine and oxblood) are very en vogue at the moment—in addition to a few other head-turning trends. Discover all the autumnal eye candy below, along with staple products you’ll need to nail each look.

Full-Beat Fall

Great news for full-glam fans: Both Vasquez and Sewell predict pulling out all the stops—intricate eye shadow, razor-sharp eyeliner, immaculate coverage, et al. “Everyone will be playing in makeup a little more,” Vasquez declares. “More is more this fall!”

In fact, Sewell plans to commit to what she’s coined a “full-beat fall,” during which she’ll amp up her usual fresh, minimal looks. “I am trying to lean into airbrushed matte skin and having fun with smoky shadow looks and liner,” she notes. “I forgot how much I love it all.”

“I think everyone is ready for smoky eyes to make their official comeback and fall/winter is the perfect time,” notes Vasquez. “Complemented with fresh, blurred skin and a vampy lip … there is nothing better.” Sewell agrees, who particularly loves a smoky eyeliner look with satin metallic lids. If you prefer a modern grunge moment, pair your smoky eye with a nude lip (just like Jenna Ortega above!) for more of that ’90s flair. “The modern take looks almost like soft grunge, but done with a bit of a glam twist with no hard lines and edges softly blended,” Vasquez adds. Eye shadow sticks are your friends here, as they’re extra user-friendly and effortlessly blend with just a press of your fingertip.

Soft Blurs

‘Tis the season where dewy, glowy skint tints make way for matte, soft-blurred finishes in all categories. “I’m finding that matte blushes are back to give that effect, as well as soft, kind of luminous powders,” Sewell shares. “They’re matte but don’t dry out your skin, giving you this smooth look.”

See, there’s a fine line between a soft-focus look and one that veers too cloud-like, and both Sewell and Vasquez recommend sticking to the happy medium. “There’s life to the skin, yet [it’s] matte and soft-blurred,” Vasquez notes. “Highlighter is strategically placed on high points of the face, but very delicately. Think more sheen than highlight. This adds to giving the matte skin a bit of life in a very controlled way.”

Yep, you read that right. According to Sewell, makeup lovers will be (gasp!) skipping concealer this fall—or, well, at least using way less of it. “People are concealing less, letting [their] natural eye discoloration be a part of the look,” she explains. Consider it hollow-eyed grunge (very Wednesday Addams, if you ask me).
