Nicole Kidman Announces ‘Practical Magic 2’ Has Wrapped Production

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

With a swish of a wand and stir of a cauldron, Practical Magic 2 has officially wrapped production, star Nicole Kidman announced today on Instagram.

The Oscar winner shared a short behind-the-scenes clip of her and co-star Sandra Bullock walking away from the cameras on a sun-soaked meadow. Bullock, also an Academy Award winner, can be heard saying, “Profile shot? Let’s do a profile shot,” as Kidman bursts into laughter and embraces her.

“That’s a wrap on #PracticalMagic2! Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic ✨,” Kidman captioned the video.

Kidman last commemorated the reunion of the Owens sisters on the first day of production in mid-July, posting a video of the duo filming a scene. “The witches are back,” she captioned the clip on Instagram. “Owens sisters’ first day on set!”

A sequel to the cult classic 1998 original about two polar opposite sisters who are descended from a long line of witches, negotiations for original stars Kidman and Bullock to return as Gillian and Sally Owens, respectively, were first reported in June 2024. Praised for its feminist themes, soundtrack and genre-bending nature, the film followed the two family members and their aunts as they reckoned with the Owens curse, which dooms any man who falls in love with them. At the end of the Warner Bros. pic, the sisters form a quasi-coven with the townsfolk to break the ancient spell, triumphing over the curse and finally being accepted in their community as witches.

The sequel to the spooky movie is slated for release Sept. 18, 2026, with original cast Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also returning as Aunt Jet and Aunt Frances, the matriarchs who took in Sally and Gillian after their parents died. Meanwhile, newcomers include Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod. Character details for the new faces are under wraps, as Deadline exclusively reported.

Susanne Bier directs the followup from a script by Akiva Goldsman, a co-writer on the original, and Georgia Pritchett (Veep, Succession). Bier has worked with both Bullock and Kidman before, directing 2018’s Birdbox and series The Perfect Couple.

The original film, helmed by Griffin Dunne, was based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel of the same name, grossing more than $47 million stateside. Hoffman has since published two prequels to that book, as well as a 2021 sequel called The Book of Magic. Though plot details about Practical Magic 2 are scant, producer Denise Di Novi told Entertainment Weekly last year it would draw heavily from the source material.

Jugnuma review: Manoj Bajpayee soars in Raam Reddy’s dreamscape where magic meets everyday life

The first thing that hooks you to The Fable (releasing in India as Jugnuma) is the opening frame itself. Shot on film, a rarity today, it immediately sets the mood. Glossy widescreen frames may look impressive, but when the setting is the 1980s, the masterstroke lies in the choice of format. The grainy texture of the stock suits a story that calls itself a fable, and the makers are careful not to smooth it over. The effect is a sense of magic and story coming alive.

The film’s unique cinematography and authentic performances create a captivating story about family and the environment.

What is Jugnuma about?

Jugnuma is not a run-of-the-mill film. The only familiar presence is Manoj Bajpayee, whose mainstream success in the OTT world has given him the freedom to experiment. Raam Reddy’s film benefits immensely from that. Viewers may arrive for Manoj, but they stay for Raam’s storytelling. The film follows Dev (Manoj), an orchard owner in Himachal who lives happily with his wife and two children. One day, part of his orchard is torched. Suspicion falls on the villagers tasked with guarding it at night. What happens next is the rest of the film.

Movie Review

Jugnuma

Jugnuma

Rating Star 3/5

The film follows a Himachal orchard owner living with his wife and children, whose orchard is partly torched, putting suspicion on the night guards.

Cast

Manoj Bajpayee, Priyanka Bose

Verdict

Jugnuma reveals that a fable is less about magic and more about the truths woven into daily life, leaving behind questions, images, and a mood that lingers well past its runtime.

There is a plot, but the film does not rush. It prefers to let events unfold at their own pace, aided by touches of magic realism. Early on, Dev dons a pair of enormous wings he has built himself and soars into the sky. Magic is part of everyday life here.

The nuances stand out. A video camera, first introduced innocently as Dev’s youngest child runs around excitedly with it, turns the viewer into a lens. Later, the same camera offers a final glimpse of what may have happened to the family, which disappears without trace. Man’s battle with the environment is also a recurring theme.

A stunning picture

The visuals themselves, crafted by cinematographer Sunil Borkar, a former national-level shooter, are fascinating. A look into how the film was made, and the awards it has already won, is enough to leave anyone impressed, do give it a read on Wikipedia.

Among the performances, Manoj is so good at slipping into his characters that it hardly feels like acting. He is Dev. Priyanka Bose complements him perfectly as his wife. With half the cast drawn from real villagers trained on location, the story gains an added sense of authenticity. Deepak Dobriyal, as Dev’s manager and the narrator, does his part well.

Overall, Jugnuma shows that a fable is not just about magic but about the truths hidden within the everyday. It leaves you with questions, images, and a mood that lingers far longer than the runtime.

Woman shares she ‘lost all her belly fat in 1 month by cutting out these 5 foods’: ‘You don’t need magic pills’

Nutritionist and health coach Ruchi Sharmma took to Instagram on July 18 to share how she toned up by avoiding certain foods. She said, “I lost close to 5 kg and got a flatter stomach in a month. You don’t need magic pills. You need to know what to stop eating first. These 5 food types were silently holding me back.” Also read | French biochemist shares simple hack for enjoying fast food with fewer blood sugar spikes

In her post, titled, ‘I lost all my belly fat in a month by cutting out these 5 foods’, Ruchi shared foods you can avoid or limit if you want a flat belly like her:

1. Refined seed oils (Sunflower, soybean)

She said, “Found in namkeens, fried food, biscuits, restaurant meals, you name it, these oils mess with your hormones, gut, and digestion.” What I did: switched to ghee and cold-pressed coconut oil. My bloating reduced, energy improved, and mood stabilised.”

2. Bread, noodles, pasta and grains on their own

Ruchi added, “Eating carbs alone can spike your blood sugar and keep you in fat-storing mode. But carbs aren’t the villain, they just need balance. What I did: I started pairing carbs with protein and fibre, like adding paneer to my dosa or tofu with rice and sabzi. Energy = stable. Hunger = gone.”

3. Tea-time snacking: biscuits, rusks, diet namkeen, makhana

Ruchi said, “These sneaky snacks seem ‘lightl but keep your insulin constantly high. Mindless snacking between meals = constant fat gain. What I did: moved to 2-3 proper meals and 1 intentional snack if needed. No grazing. No distractions. Just real food.”

4. Hidden sugars in ‘healthy’ foods

“Protein bars, health drinks, flavoured yoghurts, granola – all sold as ‘healthy’ but packed with sugar, gums, and low-quality ingredients. What I did: focused on whole, clean protein like eggs, tofu, Greek yoghurt, protein powders, paneer, chicken, and fish. Cravings vanished, and skin cleared up, too,” she said.

5. Flavoured coffees, nut milks and ‘healthy’ smoothies

Ruchi shared, “These are loaded with additives, sugar, and artificial ingredients, even when they claim to be dairy-free or plant-based. What I did: switched to black coffee, plain milk or herbal chai. Less sugar = better gut = clearer mind.”

Ruchi further shared what she ate and did instead to achieve a flat belly:

⦿ Added good fats and fibre like mixed seeds and sabzi to every meal

⦿ Made every meal protein-rich including snacks

⦿ Didn’t give up carbs; instead, enjoyed balanced versions of pasta, dosa, paratha, and sandwiches

⦿ Focused on habits, not hacks

⦿ Walked daily, got sunlight, slept better
