Death Unearth ’90s Madonna Cover From Late Frontman Chuck Schuldiner

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Since Death’s Chuck Schuldiner passed away in 2001 from a brain tumor, the metal band have raged on his honor, along with many tribute bands doing the same. Yesterday, though, the group came across a ’90s Madonna cover featuring the late vocalist and guitarist.

“Found this today going through some things,” the caption on the official Death Facebook page reads. “Chuck recorded this in the early stages of his battle with cancer, I remember it well. Chuck sitting in his bedroom with his stealth and a drum machine. I’m not sure how many people outside of the family and a few friends have heard this but it’s all yours. Chuck’s version of Madonna’s 1998 single ‘Frozen.'”

The track comes from Ray Of Light, and the goup definitely took creative liberty with their rendition, doubling its three-minute running time and using it to shred on animated guitars. Watch the surprisingly high quality video of the song playing in a car here.

Ariana Grande says Madonna gave her a “warm welcome” at the beginning of her career

Ariana Grande has revealed that Madonna gave her a “warm welcome” in the early days of her career.

Speaking in a new interview on Evan Ross Katz’s Shut Up Evan podcast, Grande reflected on the support she received from pop icons, including Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Madonna when she first entered the music industry.

“I’m very lucky that my idols have been very kind to me… I remember Madonna immediately was very kind,” she said. “I think she was one of the first people to reach out and, like, give me a warm welcome, and it was just really cool. I was overwhelmed by it, because I love her so much.”

She went on to mention Carey’s support, as well as meeting Beyoncé in 2013. “Beyoncé had me come visit a music video she was shooting, and I was just there in the corner,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Why am I here?’ It was after I sang ‘Tattooed Heart’ on the AMAs. She invited me to set to visit her, and she just was being kind — she gave me a little bit of advice, and, you know, I asked, but she was so kind.”

She continued, “I feel like I had people I really looked up to embrace me. It made me feel safe.”

Grande and Madonna have built a close relationship through the years, with Madonna even making a voice cameo in the music video for Grande’s 2019 single ‘God Is A Woman’.

In other Ariana Grande news, next summer she’s set to embark on her ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour, which will mark her first return to the stage in six years, following her 2019 ‘Sweetener’ trek. See a full list of dates here.

The upcoming tour also follows her turning her sights over to acting lately – taking on the leading role in last year’s acclaimed Wicked adaptation and its forthcoming sequel Wicked: For Good.

She has rarely played live since she completed her huge 2019 tour, only making a handful of appearances at non-profit events and award shows. She did reassure fans, however, saying that she wasn’t “abandoning” music and was looking into a number of live shows for 2026.

In a four-star review of ‘Eternal Sunshine’, Nick Levine wrote for NME: “It’s the most sophisticated project yet from a preternaturally talented vocalist who keeps getting better. Whatever you take away from it, ‘Eternal Sunshine’ definitely isn’t an album you’ll want to wipe from memory.”

As for Madonna, earlier this year she announced her return to Warner Records with a new dance album, ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor Part 2’, scheduled for 2026. It comes almost two decades after the pop icon departed the label, with which she was signed for the first 25 years of her career.

She also recently announced the release of a special ‘Bedtime Stories’ 30th anniversary EP with early demos and rarities.

The EP will be released on November 28 (pre-order here) while the original ‘Bedtime Stories’ will also be released on limited-edition silver vinyl.

Madonna contemplated suicide during the custody battle over her son Rocco Ritchie.

Madonna contemplated suicide during the custody battle over her son Rocco Ritchie

Describing the period as one of the most painful of her life, the 67-year-old singer made the admission during her first podcast interview, a two-hour conversation with On Purpose with Jay Shetty.

She also spoke about how spirituality helped her endure dark moments, including the legal fight with her former husband Guy Ritchie in 2016.

Madonna said: “There were moments in my life I wanted to cut my arms off… I actually contemplated suicide.

“I would say probably one of the most painful moments in my life where I honestly couldn’t see the forest for the trees was when I went through a custody battle with my son.

“Even though my marriage didn’t work out… I mean a lot of people’s marriages don’t work out. They marry the wrong people. They’re not aligned. They’re not meant for each other. Someone trying to take my child away from me was like, they might as well just kill me. That’s really how I was thinking. “And I was on tour at the time, so I had to go on stage every night. I would just be lying on the floor of my dressing room sobbing. I really thought it was like it was the end of the world. I couldn’t take it. I just couldn’t take it.”

Madonna became involved in the custody dispute when Rocco, then 16, chose to remain in London with his father while she was touring with Rebel Heart.

After a lengthy legal process, a settlement was reached that allowed him to stay in the UK.

She and Guy had divorced in 2008.

The singer, who has six children, said she is now “good friends” with Rocco.

She credited her faith for helping her endure:

Madonna added: “But thank God I don’t feel that way anymore… I’m happy to say that I’m really good friends with my son but I couldn’t see it then. I really thought it was the end of the world. So, you know, thank God I had a spiritual life.”

In the podcast interview, her first in nine years, Madonna also spoke about reconciling with her brother Christopher Ciccone before his death in June 2024 at the age of 63, following a battle with throat cancer.

She said: “For my brother, I didn’t speak to him for three years. Years and years. And it was him being ill and reaching out to me and saying, ‘I need your help’, that means having that moment, like, ‘Am I gonna help my enemy?’ And I just did.”

Madonna added: “It was such a load off my back, such a weight that was removed, baggage that was put down to finally be able to be in a room with him and holding his hand, even if he was dying, saying, ‘I love you and I forgive you.’ That was really important.”

The singer also described discovering Kabbalah in 1996 and the strength it gave her to align her life with purpose beyond the spotlight.

She has recently launched a new course, The Mystical Studies of the Zohar, with Kabbalah teacher Eitan Yardeni.

She said: “You need to be spiritual to be successful. Success is having a spiritual life, period. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have one.”

Madonna on ICU Coma, Her Brother’s Death, Relationship with Motherhood

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Madonna is approaching the first anniversary of the death of her younger brother, Christopher Ciccone, who died this past October at the age of 63. At times, the singer’s relationship with her sibling was tumultuous, leading to periods during which they rarely spoke. During her first podcast appearance, on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose, Madonna details a spiritual encounter she had while in a medically-induced coma (during her four-day hospitalization in the ICU in June 2023 for a serious bacterial infection) that led to her reconnecting with Ciccone.

“I was almost there on the other side and I had a conscious moment and my mother appeared to me and she said, ‘Do you want to come with me?’ And I said, ‘No,’” Madonna said. “My assistant was in the room with me, but I was still unconscious, but she heard me say, ‘No.’ And then when I did eventually wake up, I realized that the ‘No’ was about me needing to forgive and make good with people that I still held grudges against.”

Soon after, Madonna wrote a song about her brother and another about forgiveness. The unreleased tracks, titled “Fragile” and “Forgive Yourself,” center around the idea of accountability and responsibility. “We have to forgive others but we also have to forgive ourselves and stop beating up on ourselves about things, choices we’ve made in the past that haven’t worked out for ourselves or other people,” she said.

For a while, Madonna added, she pushed off forgiving with Ciccone because she assumed she’d have more time to do so. “Your ego dances around it like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ll get to it. I’ll get to calling him up or talking to him or being his friend or helping him,’” she said. “But eventually I did. And, I know I’m being mysterious, if someone you love deeply betrays you and does something that shows that they have no consciousness in that moment that they made that choice to do that, it’s a bitter pill for me to swallow.”

She continued, “For my brother, I didn’t speak to him for years, years, and years. It was him being ill and reaching out to me and saying, ‘I need your help,’ and me having that moment like, ‘Am I going to help my enemy?’ That’s how it felt. And I just did. I felt so relieved. It was such a load off my back, such a weight that was removed, baggage that I could put down to finally be able to be in a room with him and holding his hand — even if he was dying — and saying, ‘I love you and I forgive you.’”

Madonna uses first podcast interview to declare she owes career to spirituality

Madonna has used her first podcast interview to declare said she owes her decades-long career to her spiritual practice.

Madonna has used her first podcast interview to declare she owes her decades-long career to her spiritual practice

The 67-year-old singer will appear on a new episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty on Monday (29.09.25), where she speaks candidly with podcast host Jay Shetty about the role spirituality has played in her life.

The discussion ranges from forgiveness and success to the influence of Kabbalah, which Madonna first encountered in 1996 shortly before the birth of her daughter Lourdes Leon.

An extract from the chat obtained by People reveals Madonna tells Jay: “You need to be spiritual to be successful. Success is having a spiritual life, period. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have one.”

The seven-time Grammy award winner, known for her outspoken advocacy on human rights, added: “What have I done for others? That’s really the only way you can be successful in life. It’s like the greatest amount of light is where there’s darkness and you can reveal the most amount of light. When you’re in a dark room, you turn on the light. When you’re in a room that’s already light, what do you, there’s no, um, effort made. So should we look for darkness?”

She continued: “My soul’s purpose is to reveal light in the world through whatever I do. I want it all, but I want it for the sake of sharing, not to keep it for myself.”

The podcast also features Eitan Yardeni, Madonna’s longtime Kabbalah teacher.

The pair recently launched a new course titled The Mystical Studies of the Zohar.

Speaking to Jay, Madonna admitted she had once been vulnerable to outside judgment.

She added: “I was once a slave or victim of other people’s opinions of me.

“I don’t fit in, and not fitting in is what saves you.”

Reflecting on her career highs and lows, she insisted spirituality has provided the foundation for her resilience.

Madonna said: “Spiritual wisdom is not helpful when everything’s going your way. It’s helpful when you’re challenged and when you’re happy.

“It’s helpful to remember that at any given time, in any moment, it could be gone. So don’t take it for granted. Have humility.

“Radical acceptance is just accepting that what is happening to you is meant to happen to you – and that you’re going to be okay.”

Madonna Returns To Warner, New LP Due In ’26

Madonna spent the first 24 years of her career on Warner Bros. Records, but after nearly two decades with Interscope, the artist is returning to her original home. The first fruit of the deal will be Madonna’s new, as-yet-untitled dance album, which Warner will release at some point in 2026.

Jennifer Lopez recalls missing out on Evita role to Madonna

11 September 2025

Jennifer Lopez spent “weeks” preparing to play Evita – before Madonna landed the part.

Jennifer Lopez was eager to play Evita in the movie

The 56-year-old singer was desperate to play Eva Peron, the Argentine politician and activist, in the 1996 biographical musical drama film, and Jennifer felt devastated when the role was awarded to Madonna instead.

Speaking during a question-and-answer session, Jennifer shared: “I went to audition for Evita for [director] Alan Parker.

“I had been practising for weeks and I sing my heart out and he goes, ‘You’re amazing. You know Madonna has the part, right?’

“I said, ‘OK, bye-bye. Nice to meet you.’”

Jennifer is currently starring in the big screen adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman, the new musical drama film.

The actress is fulfilling a long-held ambition by starring in a musical film, but she still felt a little overwhelmed when director Bill Condon asked her to perform one of the movie’s more elaborate songs in one take.

Jennifer shared: “I was like, ‘We’ll do some coverage?’ He was like, ‘Nope, no coverage.’

“I was like, ‘F*** me! I better get it right then.’ Like halfway through the take it’s going perfectly and then you trip on your dress or whatever so it’s like, maybe we start over.

“It was challenging. It was challenging in that way, time wise, as independent films can be, right? It’s the time, it’s the prep, it’s the, you know, budget. All of it were constraints for us.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer admitted earlier this year that she feels “proud” of her career.

The chart-topping star – who has enjoyed huge success in the music and film industries – reflected on her career arc ahead of hosting the American Music Awards in May.

Jennifer told People: “Everything feels like I just did it.

“I remember the moments. I remember getting dressed for them. I remember things people said when we were walking to the stage afterwards.

“So it’s all these amazing core memories of my life that when you look back on them … I don’t know that I get emotional, but I definitely get like, ‘Wow.’ Happy. I’ve been doing this and I’m proud of that.”

It Was “Mind-Blowing” When Madonna Gave Deftones Her Approval

Deftones were one of the earliest signings to Maverick Records, the label co-founded by Madonna. Looking back on that time, frontman Chino Moreno admits it was “mind-blowing” to get the pop superstar’s seal of approval.

The Deftones singer discussed the band’s interactions with Madonna in a new interview with The Irish Times. As he recalled, “It was [A&R rep] Guy [Oseary] who discovered us first, and then he and [Maverick co-founder] Freddy DeMann flew us from our base in Sacramento to Los Angeles, where we played a couple of songs for them in a little rehearsal space.”

Moreno continued, “That same day we were invited to the record-label offices in Beverly Hills, where I got to meet Madonna, which was mind-blowing. So, yeah, she definitely gave us the thumbs-up. It was crazy to be a 20-year-old kid and have somebody whose music I’ve been listening to since I was 10 years old give us her approval. It was hard to take in.”

As for Madonna’s input into Deftones’ music, Moreno said she “wasn’t as hands-on as maybe you would think. In no way was she dictating our creative direction or anything like that, and, in general, the label let us be us.”

The Material Girl has attended a number of Deftones concerts over the years, with Moreno noting, “They were a little nerve-wrenching, because you knew she was watching you… One of the biggest artists in the world knew who we were. It was awesome and very, very cool.”

Deftones remained on Maverick Records from 1995 through 2006. Maverick went defunct in 2009, and Deftones have been releasing their music through Warner Music’s Reprise Records ever since.

The band’s latest album is Private Music, which arrived last month. Deftones are currently supporting the LP with a North American tour (pick up tickets here), with dates running through September 19th show in Atlanta, followed by festival appearances at Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and their own Dia De Los Deftones.

Julia Garner Confirms Madonna Biopic Is Still On: ‘Work in Progress’

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Yes, Julia Garner is still on to play Madonna in an upcoming biopic on the superstar, the existence of which has long been called into question due to a series of delays.

The Weapons actress confirmed as much in an on-camera interview with W Magazine posted Wednesday (Sept. 3). When asked whether she’d for sure be starring as the Queen of Pop, Garner replied enthusiastically, “Yeah!”

“I can’t say too much about it, but yes,” she continued. “It’s a work in progress.”

Garner also shared some of her favorite Madonna songs. “Oh my god, I have so many,” she said, rattling off a list. “I love ‘Borderline,’ that’s probably my favorite … I love all of Madonna basically is what I’m trying to say. ”

She added, “I just love Madonna’s voice on ‘Papa Don’t Preach.’ There’s a lot of emotions in that song.”

The interview comes more than three years after Garner was first reportedly cast to play Madge in the biopic in mid-2022. By January 2023, reports emerged that the project had been scrapped, but the following year, Madonna teased on social media that it was back on.

Shortly before confirming as much to W, Garner said on a July episode of Will Arnett and Jason Bateman’s Smartless podcast that the film was indeed “still brewing” and “supposed to still happen.”

“I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it,” she added at the time of the audition process. “Because I wasn’t a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing. And sing with her!”
