Madhur Dixit Thanks Toronto for ‘lovely Meet and Greet’ Amid Controversy

Madhuri Dixit is making headlines for her Dil Se… Madhuri event in Toronto. The actress faced backlash for allegedly arriving nearly three hours late. Fans who attended expressed their thoughts on social media and criticised the organisers for promoting the event as a concert when it was perceived to be a talk show. Some individuals also criticised Madhuri’s late arrival, while others described the evening as a disappointing experience and a complete waste of time and resources.

However, following the event, the Dil To Pagal Hai actress shared a post on Instagram thanking her fans and expressing her gratitude. She also announced dates of her further meet and greet events that will take place in New Jersey, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York. This did not sit well with the fan and they demanded an apology from the actress for a similar event that took place on November 2. The confusion ensued when fans thought that the November 2 event would be a dance and musical night, but actually it was a ‘Meet and Greet’ event instead.


“Why were you 3 hours late with no apologies?” read one comment while another person wrote, “Madhuri Dixit Nene. I grew up loving you and watching you. As of now. Toronto is very disappointed in your show. They were misled. False advertising on what the show was supposed to be. What everyone was expecting and what actually happened.” Complaining about a fake advertisement for the Toronto show, another netizen added, “But you owe Toronto an apology for fake advertising…your own post on your profile doesn’t call it a Meet and Greet. You say an evening of dance , music and celebrations”

Meanwhile, Atique Sheikh, the event organiser stated recently that although the actress was on time, she got late due to ‘miscommunication from the management.’


He said in a statement, “It was a management miscommunication. That’s how some fans must have gotten confused, we can’t have a concert in a small banquet. It was pretty well mentioned before about the show being a Fan Meet. Madhuri ji has worked with us in the past as well and something like this has never happened. She in fact performed on her hit songs. Our idea was to present her celebrated journey in the industry and have a fan interaction.”

Kantara Chapter 1, has been written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also stars in it in the lead. The film released in theatres during Dussehra. 

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is the talk of the nation. The Kannada-language film that was released in theatres last Friday has become a box office sensation, earning rave reviews from filmmakers as well as fans. National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is the latest to join the bandwagon, and he has now penned a review of the film, praising Rishab’s ‘extraordinary’ performance and calling the film unlike anything Indian cinema has seen before. What Madhur said about Kantara Chapter 1

In a new tweet on his X account, Madhur wrote, “Saw the film #KantaraChapter1 by @shetty_rishab, and I must say, Indian cinema has never seen anything like it before. It’s a raw, divine, and utterly captivating work of art. #RishabShetty delivers an extraordinary performance, expertly crafting & carrying the entire film.”

He added, “The performances, including @rukminitweets, are outstanding. The background score, sound design, cinematography, production design, and VFX are world class. Big congratulations to @hombalefilms for their unwavering support of this brilliant creative team. #KantaraChapter1”

Both Rishab and Rukmini reposted the review on their respective X accounts and thanked Madhur for the kind words of appreciation for Kantara Chapter 1.

Madhur is the director behind films like Chandni Bar, Fashion, Page 3, Traffic and Heroine.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the original Kantara was a sleeper hit, earning over ₹400 crore worldwide on a ₹15 crore budget. The prequel – Kantara Chapter 1 – is set a thousand years before the events of the film. Apart from Rishab in the lead, the film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film has already broken box office records and is about to cross the ₹250 crore mark in India in 5 days.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming mystery thriller The Wives has intrigued the audience ever since the film was announced. Bhandarkar – who is know for making films such as Page 3, Fashion, Heroine, Calendar Girls and more, recently opened up about the film’s casting. For the unversed, earlier this year reports surfaced with regards to actress Fatima Sana Shaikh being cast in the film. However, when the filmmaker announced he project, it was with three other actresses — Regina Cassandra, Sonali Kulkarni and Mouni Roy.

Now, during a recent chat, Madhur addressed the rumours and revealed Fatima was never approached for the thriller. Read on to know his exact words.

During a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar revealed that the filming of The Wives wrapped up. He was quoted saying, “The shoot of the film has been wrapped up and I can’t wait to see the audience reaction. The film has come out well and will start the post production soon.”

When questioned about Fatima Sana Shaikh being a part of the film, the filmmaker revealed, “The reports around her casting were all untrue. She never signed the film or never roped in to play one of the wives in the film.”

Produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and PJ Motion Pictures, The Wives is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. It stars an ensemble cast, including Mouni Roy, Regena Cassandrra, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sonali Kulkarni, Rahul Bhat, Arjan Bajwa and Ilaha Dhillon.
