Apollo Hospital cardiologist shares warning signs of sleep trouble that may harm heart health: ‘Loud snoring…’

Sleep is the cornerstone of good health, and cutting corners means compromising on your well-being extensively. While getting adequate sleep is an essential health habit, sometimes your rest still gets interrupted, irrespective of your efforts. These interruptions can hint at underlying conditions that require prompt medical attention.

To learn more about these red-flag sleep interruptions, HT Lifestyle reached out to Dr Rajesh Matta, consultant interventional cardiologist at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. He emphasised that if someone frequently experiences sleep disruptions, it should not be taken lightly. A proper evaluation should be scheduled, as he noted that sleep is closely tied to heart health, and any unresolved sleep problems may lead to serious cardiac issues in the long run.

Signs you need to pay attention to

Dr Matta revealed that sleep-related problems can show up in various ways: some occur during sleep, some appear immediately after waking up, and others affect your health more gradually over time.

As soon as you wake up, your own body gives clues that sleep wasn’t as restorative as it should have been. Dr Matta urged that everyone should pay attention to how they feel after waking up in the morning, as some signs of poor sleep may also indicate heart-related concerns.

“Pay attention to morning symptoms. If you’re waking up with headaches, feeling unrested despite adequate time in bed, or experiencing a racing heart or palpitations, these could be red flags,” The cardiologist explained. “Excessive daytime fatigue that interferes with daily activities isn’t normal; it often indicates poor sleep quality that’s stressing your cardiovascular system.”

While post-sleep signs are usually more subtle and sometimes may be confused with tiredness, there are some sleep problems which show up as major disturbances during the night. The cardiologist shared, “Loud snoring, gasping, or choking during sleep are warning signs of sleep apnea, which dramatically increases risk for hypertension, arrhythmias, and heart failure.”

The other warning signs include difficulty controlling blood pressure despite medication, unexplained weight gain, or increased anxiety and irritability, as per Dr Matta. These are more long-term in nature, in contrast to the immediate signs mentioned earlier. But they all affect metabolic and cardiovascular health, and the cardiologist warned against ignoring them.

Dr Matta recommended these 4 habits, which help to improve your sleep quality. Try adding them to your daily routine:

1. Establish a fixed wake time: This is more important than a fixed bedtime because it anchors your circadian rhythm. Within a week or two, one will naturally start to feel sleepy at an appropriate time.

2. Sunlight exposure: Get morning sunlight exposure within 30 minutes of waking; it sets your internal clock and improves sleep quality that night.

3. Do physical activity: Incorporate 30 minutes of moderate physical activity most days, but finish at least three hours before bedtime. Exercise is one of the most powerful sleep aids, and it directly benefits the heart.

4. Create wind-down routine: 15 minutes of light reading or gentle stretching.

Sexyy Red has officially joined the lineup for Rolling Loud Australia 2026. The breakout rapper was announced as the second artist for the festival’s return, following last week’s confirmation of Gunna as the first headliner.

Rolling Loud Australia is set to take place across two cities in March: Sydney’s Centennial Park on March 7, and Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse on March 8. The twin one-day events mark Rolling Loud’s first shows in Australia since 2019, and the first time the global hip-hop festival brand has expanded to a two-city format in the country.

According to organizers, pre-sale tickets sold out within hours of going live, and general tickets are now on sale via australia.rollingloud.com. Promoters have confirmed that the full festival lineup will be announced in the coming weeks and will include a mix of major international acts and leading Australian artists.

Since breaking through in 2023, Sexyy Red has achieved several Billboard chart milestones. Her highest Hot 100 placement came in November 2024, when she reached No. 10 as a featured artist on Tyler, The Creator’s “Sticky” alongside Lil Wayne and GloRilla. She first entered the Hot 100 with the “Pound Town” remix featuring Nicki Minaj, and followed that with her viral hit “SkeeYee,” which peaked at No. 62 and topped the inaugural TikTok Billboard Top 50. She also appeared on Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy” (No. 11) and scored her first top 20 solo hit in 2024 with “Get It Sexyy,” which peaked at No. 20.

On the Billboard 200, her 2024 mixtape In Sexyy We Trust debuted at No. 17, following her 2023 breakout Hood Hottest Princess (No. 62). In recognition of her independent rise, she was named Billboard’s Indie Rapper of the Year in 2025.

Rolling Loud co-founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, both named multiple times on Billboard’s Hip-Hop Billboard Hip-Hop Power Players list, continue to expand the brand globally. Alongside its flagship Miami festival, Rolling Loud has produced shows in Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Middle East. The franchise also recently announced its debut in India for 2025.

The festival first landed in Australia in 2019, with the debut including performances from Future, Playboi Carti, Rae Sremmurd, Tyga, and a surprise appearance from a then-rising The Kid LAROI.

The much-awaited comedy Mastiii 4 is all set to tickle funny bones once again, as the makers unveiled its trailer on Tuesday. Brimming with double-meaning jokes, over-the-top humor, and a wacky new mission to get a “love visa,” the fourth installment promises full-on entertainment. This time, director Milap Zaveri takes over from Indra Kumar, bringing his signature punch and flair to the beloved franchise.

The film marks the return of the iconic trio—Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, and Riteish Deshmukh—who reprise their roles as Meet, Prem, and Amar, respectively. Their comic chemistry, chaos, and camaraderie form the heart of this laugh riot. The movie also features Arshad Warsi in a special cameo and Nargis Fakhri in a key role, with Shreya Sharma, Ruhii Singh, and Elnaaz Norouzi adding a refreshing twist to the fun.

Sharing his excitement, Riteish Deshmukh said, “Returning to a beloved franchise brings a unique thrill. Mastiii 4 is outrageously funny with a wicked twist. Teaming up with Vivek and Aftab felt like a college reunion—I haven’t laughed this much on set in ages.”

Jimmy Eat World Tease ‘Loud’ EP With New Song

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Eat World have rounded up a handful of digital-only singles as well as a new track, “Failure,” for the Something(s) Loud EP, which will be released Nov. 14 in physical form by the band’s Exotic Location Recordings label.

“Failure” was recorded during 2019 sessions for the album Surviving but was ultimately held back from that project. The song was co-produced by the band and Justin Meldal Johnsen, while Failure leader Ken Andrews engineered and mixed. Check out its skateboarding-themed video below.

Something(s) Loud also includes “Something Loud” in both original and acoustic versions, “Place Your Debts” in its maiden form plus a TW Walsh remix and a cover of Crooked Fingers’ “Call to Love” with Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino.

“By 2021, it felt like distancing restrictions were finally easing and we could get back on the road,” Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins says. “Our Surviving album had barely been released before we were performing live again and reconnecting with fans. Coming out of the pandemic, it didn’t feel right to tour without offering something more, so we took the chance to share a few more tracks we’d been working on. At the time, it seemed like listeners were gravitating toward playlists rather than full albums, so we decided to meet them where they were.”

Although details are scant, Jimmy Eat World are promising “more big plans” in 2026.

bitchy | California bans loud ads on streaming platforms, to go into effect next July

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

My mother will never give up cable and switch to streaming-only, because of her deep and abiding love of fast-forwarding through commercials on shows she’s recorded on her DVR. It’s her remote-wielding right and she will not relinquish it! I, on the other hand, have been streaming-only for years, and for most platforms I subscribe to the (microscopically) cheaper ad-included plans. This is how I know far too many pharmaceutical and insurance jingles than any one human should be subjected to. I know many of you know this pain as well. Have you also noticed that a lot of the time, the ads are glaringly LOUDER than whatever program you’re actually trying to watch? Well Californians sure noticed it, which led to Golden State legislators recently passing a law that bans commercials from being louder than the movie/TV show being streamed:

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the bill, SB 576, that had been shepherded by Sen. Thomas Umberg (D-Santa Ana) through the legislative process. It had passed unanimously on the Senate and Assembly floor earlier this month in Sacramento.

The passage means that, starting on July 1 of next year, major streaming services won’t be able to “transmit the audio of commercial advertisements louder than the video content the advertisements accompany,” the bill’s text reads.

The law asks streaming services to follow the Federal Communications Commission’s Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act, which went in to effect in 2012 for linear TV and radio but does not currently apply to streamers. That effort was spurred by the FCC receiving more than 130,000 complaints in 2010, “the vast majority of which concerned the excessively loud sound of commercials,” the state’s Assembly analysis recounted.

“Many platforms have introduced tiered subscription models that require consumers to pay a premium to avoid commercials, bringing ad-supported viewing, and the loudness of those ads, back into focus for millions of users,” the Assembly briefing noted. Indeed, price hikes across the board from streaming services have by default pushed consumers to the cheaper options, which now include regular commercial breaks just like old school TV.

A bill analysis by Senate Legislature committee staff noted that the Motion Picture Association, which lobbies on behalf of Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. Discovery, had voiced opposition to the effort.

“The Motion Picture Association says that since streaming services are working voluntarily to address the issue of loud advertisements, SB 576 is unnecessary,” the analysis read. “They note that many streaming services have undertaken reasonable efforts to adjust the loudness of advertisements that come from server-side ad insertion that may be inconsistent with the loudness of the programs.”

Newsom, on signing the bill on Oct. 6, touted its volume-lowering impact, saying, “We heard Californians loud and clear, and what’s clear is that they don’t want commercials at a volume any louder than the level at which they were previously enjoying a program.”

[From The Hollywood Reporter]

I’d like to take this opportunity to commend the lawmakers who make the time and effort to name their policies in such a way that there’s a clever resulting acronym. Case in point: the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act, or CALM. It’s all in the details! And speaking of, those few at the top making fortunes off streaming are such sneaky f–ks, ignoring the CALM Act because it didn’t explicitly refer to streaming (even though it was a logical extension). It’s the same playbook for how these Scrooges have been cheating actors out of streaming residuals. Anyway, good on California, and I hope the movement spreads east! What I find annoying is not just how loud commercials are overall, but how a lot of the time now it’s contrasted with TV/movies that are increasingly hard to hear! (Or do I need to make an appointment with my ENT?) There’s a whole slew of entertainment that is mumbling verging on inarticulate in audible dialogue levels, to the point where a lot of the time I wear my air pods when watching TV so that the sound goes directly into my head! I know it makes me sound (noise pun!) like an old fogey, I can live with that.

BRONX – Loud boos were heard throughout Yankee Stadium as “O Canada” was played before Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.

The booing started as anthem singer Graham Rowat was introduced on Tuesday night by the stadium PA announcer. The boos picked up again as the Broadway actor finished his rendition.

The crowd then loudly cheered as a large American flag was unfurled in the outfield as Rowat began singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“Sports fans are passionate people,” Rowat said when reached by phone later in the evening. “So I can put it down to that, and maybe not any larger event.”

The boo-birds returned in the first inning when Toronto slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer to give the Blue Jays an early lead.

Anthem booing was common throughout North American sports venues last winter due to tariff-related tensions between Canada and the United States. The trend eventually lost steam.

Rowat, from Peterborough, Ont., is now based in the New York area. He works as an audiobook narrator and has performed in productions such as “Guys and Dolls,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

He had performed stadium anthem singings in a group setting before but this was his first solo experience, he said.

Rowat couldn’t hear the boos, he added, because his in-ear monitors essentially sealed off outside sound during his performance.

He said a “polite” staffer at an earlier sound check told him that booing may be a possibility given how it was common at sporting venues earlier in the year.

“If I had not been warned, I probably would have been thrown off,” Rowat said.

Toronto led 6-3 after three innings in the must-win game for the Yankees.
