Aimee Lou Wood is a rising star in Hollywood, having appeared in several projects, including The White Lotus, which recently premiered its third season. The actress has drawn attention not only for her talent but also for comments regarding her appearance, particularly her teeth.

Speaking to The Sunday Times in April 2025, she shared, “I understand what it represents. People feel more confident about their imperfections. It does feel a bit weird that the thing I got bullied for is now the thing that everyone’s, like, ‘Woo!’” She continued, “It’s still the thing that’s defining me.” She continued, “It’s still the thing that’s defining me.”

In a more reflective conversation with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Aimee delved deeper into how she’s learned to navigate fame and self-worth. She revealed that years of body dysmorphia and anxiety once made her feel trapped by expectations — both on-screen and off — but acting became a space where she could process those emotions. “Acting has always been a safe place for me to work out my feelings.”

Learn more about her below.

Aimee Lou Wood Is From England

Aimee Lou Wood was born on February 3, 1994, in Stockport, United Kingdom.

She Made Her Acting Debut in Sex Education

Aimee’s breakout role came with Netflix’s Sex Education, where she portrayed Aimee Gibbs. Speaking to Elle in 2020, she said, “I had so many, some incredibly similar, experiences. I look back and can’t believe I didn’t used to get angry about stuff. I was so numb to it. Sometimes you would react how Maeve did, but then sometimes you would just go “ugh, d*ckhead” and then you were over it. It was so ingrained within me to think it was normal. It made me really reflect on how I just thought it was part of being a woman.”

She Previously Dated Her Co-Star

Aimee dated her Sex Education co-star Connor Swindells from 2018 to 2022. Aimee has since moved on and confirmed in her Harper’s Bazaar UK interview that she is now dating actor Adam Long, referring to him as her boyfriend.

Reflecting on love and independence in a 2021 interview with Grazia, Aimee said, “I find it hard when I’m in relationships to maintain my sense of who I am. I’m very independent, but I’m also quite impressionable. I can be taken away from myself quite easily — I kind of start betraying myself and compromising my integrity to keep someone else happy. That’s why it’s really important for me to have time alone.”

Aimee Lou Wood’s Family

Not much is known about Aimee’s parents, but several outlets report they are divorced. Her mother has worked for the British counseling service Childline, and her father is a car dealer. Her sister, Emily Wood, is a makeup artist who has worked with Glamour UK and Rollacoaster Magazine, according to Notion.

Aimee Lou Wood’s Net Worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Aimee Lou Wood has an estimated net worth of $2 million.

bitchy | ‘The White Lotus’ received zero Emmys & their fashion was pretty terrible too

In my opinion, The White Lotus’s quality has improved each season. I was meh on the first season, I loved the second season (set in Italy) and it felt like Season 3 became a phenomenon, an increasingly rare water-cooler show where it felt like everyone watched it at the same time. Well, somewhat hilariously, TWL did not win ANY Emmys last night. It came into the awards show as one of the most-nominated dramas! TWL got 23 nominations, the bulk of which were for the actors! And they all canceled each other out. No Emmys for Carrie Coon or Walton Goggins or Parker Posey. It’s kind of bonkers, actually.

So, some fashion photos for The White Lotus cast! Carrie Coon wore Chanel, and I hate all of this. I dislike her pixie cut and the dress is TERRIBLE. Leslie Bibb looked nice in Armani Prive. Aimee Lou Wood wore McQueen, and I’m not into the dress at all – stiff-looking satin, an unflattering cut and she looks like she’s aiming for “quirky” but it came out as “frumpy.” Aimee also avoided Walton Goggins, who was there with his wife (IYKYK), but Aimee brought her boyfriend too. See, take that! Parker Posey wore a wacky custom Valentino which is very… Parker Posey. Michelle Monaghan wore Rabanne Where, kind of disco ball look. And Lisa wore Lever Couture.

Cristobal Tapia De Veer Wins Fourth Emmy For The White Lotus Amid Fallout With Mike White | Glamsham.com

A Win Wrapped in Drama:
The Creative Arts Emmys 2025 brought a big moment for composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, who picked up his fourth Emmy for The White Lotus. His trophy came in the category of

Best Original Main Title Theme Music for Season 3.
But while the honor celebrated his artistry, it also arrived under the shadow of his very public falling out with series creator Mike White.

The Acceptance: Without HBO or White
Tapia de Veer did not attend the Los Angeles ceremony but celebrated remotely. On Instagram, he shared: “I just won my fourth Emmy Award: best theme for The White Lotus Season 3. I respect the Academy because those votes can’t be bought. No smear campaign distracted them. Thank you, this means a lot to me in more than one way.”

He paired his words with a clip of the winning theme playing over a video of a firefly, writing that the melody was inspired by filming that moment.

Notably, there was no mention of HBO or Mike White, a telling omission given the rocky history between them.

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 74th EMMY Awards!

The Creative Rift:
Earlier this year, Tapia de Veer confirmed he would not return for Season 4, citing clashes with White and the production team. He claimed their disputes dated back to Season 1, where he fought to keep his darker, experimental vision intact.

“Maybe I was being unprofessional. But what I gave him did this — did those Emmys, people going crazy. It was worth the tension,” Tapia de Veer told the New York Times.
White, in turn, responded in interviews by downplaying the feud but admitted they “butted heads,” especially during Season 3.

“He is very talented. But I don’t think he respected me,” White said on The Howard Stern Show, adding that Tapia de Veer resisted feedback once the show became a hit.

The White Lotus and Its Awards Run:
Despite the off-screen tensions, The White Lotus continues to be an Emmy powerhouse. Across its first three seasons, the HBO series has earned 16 Emmys, with Tapia de Veer personally winning four:
Two for Best Main Title Theme (Seasons 1 & 3)
Two for Original Dramatic Score (Seasons 1 & 2)

Season 3 alone picked up 15 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Final Take:
Tapia de Veer’s fourth Emmy proves how essential his haunting, off-kilter themes were in defining The White Lotus. Yet his departure raises questions about how the show will evolve musically in Season 4 without the man who gave it its sonic identity.

The feud may have overshadowed the win, but the Emmy also serves as a reminder: sometimes creative tension, however messy, can produce unforgettable art.

White Lotus Composer Wins Emmy After Mike White Feud

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The White Lotus composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer has won the award for best original main title theme music at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards following a public falling out with the show’s creator Mike White. The win marks de Veer’s third Emmy for the HBO drama, which he’s scored since its premiere in 2021.

In April, de Veer told The New York Times that he would not be returning for the series’ fourth season, saying, “I announced to the [editorial] team a few months ago that I was not coming back, that I was leaving. … At some point, [White] heard about that.”

According to de Veer, he and White butted heads over the show’s opening theme song, specifically the “ooh-loo-loo-loos” that were a part of the season one track. In season three, the sound was removed from the series’ opening credit music, but was still featured on the full version of the track, with de Veer admitting, “I just stuck to what I was doing. And when I was giving versions, it was still the same thing.”

Days after de Veer’s New York Times story ran, White responded to the article in an interview with Howard Stern, saying, “I honestly don’t know what happened, except now I’m reading his interviews because he decides to do some PR campaign about him leaving the show. I don’t think he respected me. He wants people to know that he’s edgy and dark and I’m, I don’t know, like I watch reality TV. We never really even fought. He says we feuded. I don’t think I ever had a fight with him — except for maybe some emails. It was basically me giving him notes. I don’t think he liked to go through the process of getting notes from me, or wanting revisions, because he didn’t respect me. I knew he wasn’t a team player and that he wanted to do it his way. I was thrown that he would go to The New York Times to shit on me and the show three days before the finale. It was kind of a bitch move.”

For his part, de Veer noted his reluctance to take notes from White in the Times, saying, “Maybe I was being unprofessional, and, for sure, Mike feels that I was always unprofessional to him because I didn’t give him what he wanted. But what I gave him did this, you know — [won] those Emmys, people going crazy [for the show],” he said. “That is the main thing that I’m most happy about — it was worth all the tension and almost forcing the music into the show, in a way, because I didn’t have that many allies in there … This was a good struggle.”

De Veer won Emmys for both best music composition and best original main title music in 2022 and best music composition in 2023 for The White Lotus, which received a total of 23 Emmy nominations overall this year. The 2025 award for best music composition went to Severance.

The 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards are held on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Check out the full list of winners here.
