Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz Series About Their Lives In Development

by jummy84 December 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Everybody knows Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz and the legend of “I Love Lucy.” But do they really?

There have been several movies over the years about the two icons, including Aaron Sorkin’s recent “Being the Ricardos.” But the story of “Lucy and Desi” goes far beyond the smash success of “I Love Lucy,” and that’s what got Lucie Arnaz — the daughter of the late Hollywood icons — thinking about doing something bigger. Arnaz has partnered with former NBC Entertainment and WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt to develop what they envision as a three-season deep dive into the lives of Ball and Arnaz, from the couple’s separate tumultuous upbringings to making TV history with “I Love Lucy” — and then the clashes that led to their eventual divorce.

Arnaz and Greenblatt have recruited Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King,” “Behind the Candelabra”) to create the series, which will rely on source material including autobiographies written by Ball and Arnaz, the rights of which have reverted to Arnaz. Greenblatt’s The Green Room and Arnaz’s Desilu Productions are behind the project, which will also be produced by Green Room content head Jon Wu.

“If you’re really willing to look at the whole thing, there’s quite a story there, and a lot to be learned,” Arnaz said. “It’s very emotional, and it’s not what people think. It’s not just all about ‘I Love Lucy.’”

Arnaz and Greenblatt have put together a pitch deck for the series, with the working title “Lucy and Desi: The Greatest Story Never Told,” and plan to start meeting with networks and streamers in the coming months. The timing of the pitch comes as “I Love Lucy” celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026 (the show debuted in October 1951) and on the heels of two new books exploring the couple: “Desi Arnaz, The Man Who Invented Television,” by Todd S. Purdum, and Arnaz’s own new look at her parents’ relationship, “Lucy & Desi: The Love Letters,” which she edited.

“As we take it to buyers, there’s a version of this that could be 10 hours and done, if somebody wants to jump in with that,” Greenblatt said. “But we want to present it as a multi-season show. We think it’s three seasons of eight episodes. Obviously, we have to find the right buyer and cater to what they want to do. But it needs to have time to breathe. It really is an extraordinary story, from when they’re each teenagers in their separate worlds — one being Cuba as it’s coming apart at the seams, and one being very WASPy New York. They were both thrust out on their own, quickly at a young age, to try to figure out who they were and find their way in the business. Then they converge in 1940 on a soundstage at RKO, doing a movie together. ‘I Love Lucy’ is 11 years later, but that’s 11 years when they’re together in a marriage that’s up and down and complex.”

Arnaz and Greenblatt were inspired by the timeline of Netflix’s “The Crown” to similarly divide “Lucy and Desi” into different eras. In their pitch, Season 1, “From Cuba and Jamestown to New York and Hollywood,” would focus on 1930 to 1940; Season 2, “Family Life, B-Movies and Radio,” would span from 1940 to 1951; and Season 3, “The Ricardos Catch Fire, and Beyond,” would look at the “I Love Lucy” era, from 1951 to 1960 and more.

In partnering with LaGravenese (who most recently penned Paramount+’s upcoming “Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey”) and not a comedy writer, Arnaz said it was important to explore some of the darker aspects of her parents’ relationship in addition to the good times.

“The story is not all ha-ha. There’s a lot of sadness, there’s addiction, and there’s cheating, and there’s lots of fights for no reason,” she said. “There’s something to be learned from what they went through and how it’s not that easy to have it all… They had this wonderful legacy, which just happens to be the funniest show ever. But they’re more than that show. Their lives, individually and collectively, were very exciting and amazing and deep. Finding the right writer was hard because most people might think that, because we’re doing the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz that it’s going to be really funny. And it’s going to have great kinds of humor in it. But it’s not ‘I Love Lucy.’ It’s not a sitcom. Everybody says, ‘your father invented television,’ but in reality, that’s not at all what he was trying to do. They were just trying to stay together, and do a show.”

Arnaz and Greenblatt first collaborated when he produced a 40th anniversary reunion concert benefit for “They’re Playing Our Song,” the musical that served as her Broadway debut. Around the same time, Arnaz was an executive producer on “Being the Ricardos,” but ultimately that film focused mostly on one moment in time in the Lucy/Desi relationship — and so, Arnaz brought the idea of a much broader look at her parents to Greenblatt, and they started collaborating on what would become this series pitch.

“Lucie has this ability to separate herself from being in the middle of it and really see it from an objective point of view,” Greenblatt said. “She’s the first person to say, ‘we want to do it warts and all, and we don’t want to just whitewash it and protect everybody.’ It really is complex. Can we get underneath the causes and the reasons for the way they were. We all think they’re the Ricardos. There’s a part of them that’s who they were, but that’s so little of the full picture.”

LeGravenese entered the picture when Arnaz and Greenblatt went looking for somebody who could balance the comedy of “I Love Lucy” with the drama of what happened behind the scenes.

“Richard came to mind, as he’s got this great background in writing feature films prominently for most of his life and more recently television,” Greenblatt said. “I love his ‘Behind the Candelabra’ movie, for which he won the Emmy. When we presented the idea to him, he just lit up. He’s like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve loved these two people as a fan, and I’ve gone down the rabbit hole on the internet many times.’ He just knew a lot about the story already. Then we all met, and Lucie met him, and he just felt like the right guy.”

Added Arnaz: “There’s been now two TV movies and a feature film and my documentary, but none of those other films ever looked at, ‘OK, that happened and that happened, but why? Why did he do that? Why did she respond that way?’ I wanted to correct that. If nothing else, I wanted to be able to look at them as people and say, ‘aren’t they interesting? Imagine, even with all that sorrow and all that loss, he was able to do this. And then he had to drink. Well, why did he have hookers? Why did that happen?’ And so if we can show the early and go all the way to the end, in some way, we might be able to help people understand them even more.”

Foo Fighters Go Full Circle During Amazon Music Live’s Streaming Series

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s been more than 30 years since Dave Grohl formed the Foo Fighters—his chart-topping rock group, which saw the drummer take front and center stage after Nirvana, proving his chops as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. If there was any doubt that the band would continue after recent personal and line-up woes, he put them to rest last week, announcing the 12-date North American Take Cover stadium tour with Queens of the Stone Age. They also popped up recently via special small club shows in the U.S., including a recent surprise set in San Luis Obispo.

Nobody does big arena rock better than these two groups, but the Foos in-your-face energy is another beast altogether in an intimate setting. I’ve been lucky enough to see them play a couple of tiny venue shows in the past (including the Dragonfly in Hollywood and the now-shuttered Spaceland in Silver Lake) and they blended the blissfully communal experience of a big concert with a no-frills jam feel, not unlike watching your friend’s band at a backyard house party.

On October 30, Grohl and bandmates Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, llan Rubin, and Rami Jaffee (who actually is a long-time friend of mine), shared this vibe, performing inside a circle of fans and cameras for Amazon Music Live, the streamer’s post-Thursday Night Football concert series, livestreamed from a studio in Glendale, California.

On the ground and in the round, the band whipped up hit after hit in a faithful fashion that nonetheless felt fresh and maybe more ferocious than ever thanks to the wildly invigorating rhythms of Rubin, who joined the band to replace Josh Freese this past summer. Rubin, 37, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Nine Inch Nails, making him its youngest living inductee ever. Freese, who toured with FF after Taylor Hawkins died, took Rubin’s place in NIN, marking a curious musical swap. All three are/were the best beat busters in the business, but after seeing Rubin’s aggressive and giddy playing style in this up-close forum—which recalls Grohl’s Nirvana and QOTSA kit stylings—it all sort of made sense. Sometimes it’s all about chemistry, and the current line-up really has it.

The band did not play the new single, “Asking for a Friend,” which was somewhat disappointing. It would’ve been cool to see it alongside the earlier material. It also kind of felt like Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” video, which Grohl remarked mid-set after looking around. We watched from a slightly elevated platform that encircled the band and definitely thought the same thing as we sang along to all their anthems, including “All My Life,” “Times Like These,” “My Hero,” “Learn to Fly,” “This Is a Call,” “No Son of Mine,” “The Pretender,” “Best of You,” and “Monkey Wrench.”

In addition to the tour, Grohl promised more surprise small gigs to come, too. “Anyone who wants to see us rip a three-hour long show in a sweaty little club, keep your eyes peeled and come out and see us,” he said, before thanking Amazon and his fans for their support the past three decades, echoing sentiments from his recent note on the band’s Substack, Foo Fighters Field Notes. “We never say goodbye…we’re a band that’s been around so long we can’t stop playing.”Watch the Foo Fighters Amazon Music Live show—filmed in atmospheric black and white—via rebroadcast here. Tickets for the Take Cover stadium tour are on sale now.

‘General Hospital,’ ‘Days of Our Lives’ Writer Was 94

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Margaret DePriest, a onetime actress who spent three decades as a pioneering head writer on such soap operas as General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, All My Children and Another World, has died. She was 94.

DePriest died Sept. 29 of natural causes at her home in Greenwich Village, her daughter, Sara Kimbell, told The Hollywood Reporter.

DePriest had starred in soap operas as Abby Cameron on CBS’ The Edge of Night and as the social worker Mrs. Berger on NBC’s The Doctors when she and her mentor Lou Scofield created the CBS daytime drama Where the Heart Is in 1969. (Network execs at the time praised her for “writing like a man,” Kimbell noted.)

After four years on that show, she joined CBS’ Love of Life in 1975 as head writer, then wrote for The Doctors in 1976 and was an assistant to the producer and a writer/head writer on ABC’s General Hospital from 1978-81, on the scene when Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) got married in Port Charles.

DePriest moved to NBC’s Days of Our Lives, and during her three seasons there, she and fellow head writers Pat Falken Smith and Sheri Anderson re-invented the town of Salem — giving it a riverfront, hilltop mansions, new restaurants, etc. — and introduced the blue-collar Brady family to viewers.

She also came up with the riveting storyline about the serial killer known as The Salem Strangler and helped write the 1985 wedding of yet another daytime supercouple, Bo & Hope (Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso).

DePriest later was a head writer on NBC’s Another World in 1986-88, on ABC’s All My Children in 1989-90, on ABC’s One Life to Live in 1990-91, on Another World again in 1996-97 and on NBC’s Sunset Beach — where she loved working for Aaron Spelling — in 1998-99.

Along the way, she received Daytime Emmy nominations for outstanding drama series writing in 1981 for General Hospital, in 1984 and 1985 for Days of Our Lives, in 1990 for All My Children and in 1992 for One Live to Live.

DePriest was “exacting and unafraid to challenge executives,” her daughter said, adding that “she favored strong female leads and layered storylines that tackled social change, class and identity.”

One of seven children, Margaret Lou DePriest was born during the Depression on April 19, 1931, in Bristow, Oklahoma. Her mother, Drusilla, was a homemaker who arrived in town from Kentucky in a covered wagon, and her father, Oscar, worked in the oil fields. Neither ever learned to read or write.

Woody Guthrie used to wander onto her family’s porch and sing with her dad.

DePriest won a full drama scholarship to the University of Oklahoma and after college acted on stages in Dallas and hosted two local TV shows, Ladies First and Maggie and Her Friends, a kids program with puppets. After that, she came to New York in the 1950s with her first husband, actor-singer Glenn Kezer, who wound up in the original My Fair Lady on Broadway.

In 1958, she found work as a stage manager and actress in an off-Broadway production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, which revolved around a witch hunt in another town called Salem.

DePriest enjoyed a big year in 1965 when she originated the role of Abby on The Edge of Night (while ghostwriting scripts for Scofield); won a best actress Obie Award for her turn in The Place for Chance; and starred alongside Jan Sterling in another off-Broadway drama, Friday Night.

After appearing on a 1968 episode of ABC’s N.Y.P.D., she put acting aside to concentrate on writing.

In the late 1970s, DePriest and her family moved to Los Angeles. She had been penning scripts in New York for her L.A.-based shows, and “back then there were no computers, fax, FedEx or email — just typewriters, carbon paper and ‘the overnight pouch,’” her daughter noted.

She also wrote short stories and a 1982 play for the East West Players company in Los Angeles that was directed by Shizuko Hoshi and Tony-winning actor Mako.

Her second husband was Paul B. Price, an actor and TV writer who portrayed the frisky Claude Perkins in the Broadway and big-screen versions of the madcap comedy The Ritz. Both her marriages ended in divorce.

In addition to her daughter, survivors include her son, Jake; son-in-law Wayne; and grandchildren Eli and Chaya.

“My mom began every morning with The New York Times crossword — in pen,” her daughter said. “She was a lifelong, voracious reader; a lover of poetry (especially Seamus Heaney) and literature; and a lifelong seeker of knowledge. She read the Bible and the Quran not for faith, but as literature. She loved architecture, art, history, flowers — she had a great green thumb — antiques and beauty in all forms.”

Live’s Best Moments from the Summer Unity Tour

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Live and Collective Soul both made massive hits in the 1990s, but it’s in the 21st century that the two veteran alternative bands have become a successful package deal on the road, first co-headlining a tour in 2008 and then reuniting this year for the Summer Unity Tour. The two bands played 30 dates from coast to coast throughout July and August, with openers Our Lady Peace and Greylin James Rue.

The tour wrapped up a few weeks ago with a date in Grantville, Pennsylvania, just an hour from York, where Ed Kowalczyk became Live’s lead singer over 40 years ago. Before Live heads back out to play shows in Michigan and Ohio this month, SPIN reached Kowalczyk via email to find out about some of his favorite memories from spending the summer of 2025 on the road. “There were so many highlights and nights to remember on our tour with Collective Soul,” Kowalczyk says. “I felt so energized and inspired the whole time; morning, noon and night for eight weeks straight. The rapport and the vibes backstage were so chill between the crew and bands.”

1. Biking and flying a drone in Nashville

Kowalczyk was impressed by the site of Live and Collective Soul’s Nashville show on August 10th, the FirstBank Amphitheater, which reminded him of Colorado’s most famous music venue. “The venue in Tennessee was dug out of a quarry; it has a super surreal Red Rocks vibe at night,” he says. “I flew my drone around there and got some incredible footage. It was a great summer and we got very lucky with the weather which meant we could all be outside at the venues riding electric bikes and taking it all in.”

2. The fans who brought the whole family

“I have to say, the best part of the whole experience for me was seeing the new generation of young fans every night,” says Kowalczyk, who left Live in 2009 and rejoined the band in 2014, finding that many of the band’s original fans now have kids that they bring to the shows. “I met so many people who introduced me to their kids and said, ‘This is so-and-so’s first concert, and it had to be Live.’ It was such an emotional jubilee every night, its hard to put into words.”

3. The grub in Missouri

One of the things about touring life that many musicians relish is the chance to sample cuisine around the country, and Kowalczyk fondly remembers the food and the wine in St. Louis the week that the band played the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in nearby Ridgedale, Missouri. “My favorite dining experience was at the Capital Grille in St. Louis on a day off. It was directly across the street from the hotel, so I popped over by myself and settled in,” he says. “My first course was a huge plate of Utz style potato chips with a bowl of gourmet chip dip and a blob of caviar on top; I inhaled it and washed it, and 3 dozen oysters, down with an entire bottle of Whispering Angel Rose…I walked out at 4pm.  Best meal and most rock-starrish day drinking day I had on the tour; unforgettable.”

4. Embracing the Texas roots of Live’s current lineup

Kowalczyk is the only remaining member of Live’s original Pennsylvania-based lineup, and all of his bandmates are now Texans: keyboardist Nick Jay, guitarist Zak Loy, bassist Chris Heerlein, and drummer Johnny Radelat. That made the tour’s string of August dates in Irving, Houston, and Austin into a special occasion for Live.  “All of the Texas shows were bananas and it felt like the band really reconnected deeply there,” Kowalczyk says.

Live will continue performing across North America well into 2026, including a tour of Canada with Big Wreck that begins in February. Links to tickets for all shows can be found at https://livetheband.com

Bobby Deol Reveals Dharmendra Lives With First Wife Prakash Kaur

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Bobby Deol recently revealed that Dharmendra continues to live with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, at their farmhouse in Khandala. Dharmendra moved to Mumbai from Punjab as a young, married man, dreaming of making it big in films. Prakash Kaur, his first wife, had to adjust from a simple, traditional background to the glitz and chaos of a superstar’s world.

Dharmendra Reveals Dharmendra Lives With His First Wife Prakash Kaur

Their marriage faced challenges when Dharmendra’s romance with actress Hema Malini began. It began on the set of Tum Haseen Main Jawan in 1970, became widely publicised. Despite family opposition, Dharmendra and Hema married in 1980, leading to a complex family dynamic. Dharmendra’s second marriage created a rift—Hema continued living separately in her bungalow, while Dharmendra remained with Prakash Kaur and their four children: Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta, and Vijeta.

Recently, Bobby Deol clarified in an interview with ABP Live that his father and mother still live together at their Khandala farmhouse. When asked about Dharmendra’s sometimes melancholic social media posts, Bobby explained, “My mum is also there. They’re both at the farm in Khandala right now. Papa and Mummy are together; he just gets a little dramatic. They love being at the farmhouse. They’re also old now, and being there is relaxing for them. The weather is nice, and the food is good. Papa has created a paradise out there.”

He added that Dharmendra is an expressive person, often sharing his feelings openly. “Papa is very emotional. He’s very expressive. Sometimes he goes overboard, and I ask him why he wrote or said what he did, and he tells me he was just following his heart,” Bobby said.

Bobby Deol On Mother Prakash Kaur

Regarding his mother, Bobby described her as a pillar of strength. “You don’t hear much about my mother because people don’t usually ask about her,” he remarked. “She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever met. She came from a small village and had to adapt to city life as the wife of a superstar. It wasn’t easy.” He credited her resilience for much of his father’s success, saying, “I am what I am because of my mother’s support, just as my father is because of her.”

Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur married in 1954 when he was just 19. Over 70 years later, their bond remains quietly strong, rooted in shared history and endurance. Earlier this year, Bobby marked their 71st wedding anniversary with a rare photo of his parents together—a testament to a love that has endured despite many challenges.

Dharmendra’s personal life is one of Bollywood’s most layered stories—one that defies convention yet celebrates resilience, respect, and complex coexistence. From Prakash Kaur’s quiet strength to Hema Malini’s grace, and Bobby Deol’s heartfelt admiration, their journey reminds us that love, even with its imperfections, can be enduring and profound, even in the world of stardom.

Tom Holland And Zendaya’s Private Lives Under Siege? Couple Ups Security At London Home | Glamsham.com

Tom Holland and Zendaya are reportedly spending around £1,000 daily on security at their West London home. The couple, who co-star in the Spider-Man franchise, increased security after fans began showing up at their property, disrupting their privacy.

An insider told The Sun that fans started arriving unannounced, asking for selfies and autographs. While Tom and Zendaya love their fans, they also want to enjoy a normal life when not working. The new security measures aim to deter random visitors and protect their personal space.

Neighbours have noticed the heightened security presence. One neighbour shared, “It’s been like living next to a film set recently. As soon as Tom and Zendaya started filming the new Spider-Man, fans just kept turning up. Now they’ve got this burly security bloke outside. He’s friendly, but you wouldn’t want to mess with him.”

Tom and Zendaya publicly confirmed their relationship in 2021. Zendaya has spoken about feeling “extra safe” working with Tom. In Vanity Fair’s 2025 Hollywood Issue, she said, “It’s strangely comfortable… You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him.” She praised Tom’s dedication, saying he always gives “1,000 per cent” even when exhausted, and recalled that they met during a chemistry read.

Tom has also admitted to Googling Zendaya’s name out of concern for her well-being. On Samah Dada’s On The Menu podcast, he revealed, “I’m not on social media, and I delete it when I’m not using it. Sometimes it’s an anxiety thing, so I check to see if everything’s good… I just give her a little Google and look through the news, and I’m like, ‘She’s good.’”

Their efforts to maintain privacy show the challenges of balancing fame and personal life in the public eye.

Katrina Kaif on the Significance of Motherhood

Katrina Kaif once expressed that having a complete family, with a husband and children, was “very important” to her. In an interview with Cosmopolitan India over a decade ago, the Ek Tha Tiger actress revealed this heartfelt desire. Back in 2010, when she was still unmarried, Katrina shared that the thought of building a family always stayed close to her heart. She often dreamed of the day she would be surrounded by a loving husband and kids, cherishing the simple joy of a small, happy family. Regarding this, she had said: “I belong to that mindset where having a husband and children are very important. I dream of being married and having kids and living happily ever after. That’s me”

Katrina Kaif’s yearning to be a mother could be linked to her childhood family struggle

In 2019, Katrina opened up about her perspective on parenthood, influenced largely by her own childhood experiences. Raised by a single mother following her parents’ separation, she admitted to Filmfare that it had left a certain “vacuum” in her life. Reflecting on that, she expressed her desire to provide her future children with a different reality. When she steps into motherhood, she said, she envisions a complete family environment, where her children would grow up in a healthy atmosphere, nurtured with love and care from both parents. In her own words: “Not having a father figure does create a certain vacuum. When I have kids, I want them to have the experience of being with both parents”.

Katrina’s journey toward motherhood feels like a beautiful chapter coming full circle, as she prepares to welcome her first child. The news has brought immense joy to her fans, many of whom see it as the fulfillment of a dream she has cherished for years. Interestingly, whenever Katrina spoke about motherhood in the past, she often used the plural “kids,” hinting that she might not stop at just one child. Both she and her husband, Vicky Kaushal, grew up with siblings—Katrina being one of eight, and Vicky sharing a close bond with his younger brother, Sunny Kaushal.

Janhvi Kapoor walked away with the spotlight at the launch of Homebound, India’s official Oscar entry for 2026, not just due to her good looks, but due to the overwhelming emotional depth of her outfit. The young actress chose to wear a beautiful saree that had belonged to her late mother, the incomparable Sridevi, as a moving tribute to the timeless icon.

The gold-thread embroidered navy blue and black saree belonged to Sridevi and made a legendary show along with her at the 2017 Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma wedding reception. Janhvi taking out the saree for the special occasion impressed fans and onlookers alike, with many hailing her for taking after her mother in elegance and doing so with grace and poise.

Dressed up in a modern yet timeless vibe, Janhvi accessorized the saree with a black velvet blouse and finished the look with elegant jewellery — a pearl-and-stone choker necklace, timeless jhumkas, and a matching bracelet-ring combination. Her sleek, center-parted bun accentuated the regal neckline and let the jewellery and embroidery take centrestage without overpowering the look. The soft gold undertones of her accessories complemented the saree’s heavy borders to perfection, achieving an earthy and balanced look.

Janhvi has often honoured Sridevi’s legacy through fashion, choosing her mother’s iconic outfits for key moments. Whether on red carpets or public appearances, she consistently celebrates Sridevi’s enduring style and memory.

Interestingly, her sister Khushi Kapoor has followed a similar path. At a past award show, Khushi wore a gown that Sridevi had donned on the red carpet over a decade ago, turning heads while paying a touching tribute of her own.

Janhvi’s appearance at Homebound wasn’t just a fashion statement — it was a powerful reminder of love, legacy, and the timeless bond between a mother and daughter.
