“From this moment forward, your life is mine.” What would you do if they were watching your life through your eyes? Peacock revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi thriller streaming series called The Copenhagen Test, which will be launching on Peacock at the end of December just before New Years. A first-generation Chinese-American analyst realizes his brain’s been hacked, allowing access to his senses and vision. Some kind of “wifi signal in his head” broadcasting it to some other secret organization or criminals or whoever. Stuck between the agency and hackers, he must act normal to reveal the culprits and find out who is tracing him. Simu Liu stars as Alexander Hale, with Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant; along with Saul Rubinek and Hannah Cruz. This reminds me of the movie Source Code. The title is apparently a reference to this idea: The Copenhagen Interpretation, developed by Bohr and Heisenberg, is the foundational understanding of quantum mechanics stating that particles lack definite properties (like position or momentum) until measured, existing in “superpositions”. Very interesting – although I have to say this does look a bit too TV show cheesy for my tastes. Have a look.

Here’s the full official trailer for Peacock’s thriller series The Copenhagen Test, from YouTube:

Caught between his shadowy agency & unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies. The Copenhagen Test is a series created and written by the screenwriter Thomas Brandon, mainly of The CW series “Legacies” previously. With writing by Adam Benic, Jamie Chan, Marilyn Fu, Hannah Rosner, and Thomas Brandon. Featuring episodes directed by Nima Nourizadeh, Kevin Tancharoen, and Jet Wilkinson. Showrun by Thomas Brandon and Jennifer Yale. Executive produced by Thomas Brandon, Jennifer Yale, James Wan, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Mark Winemaker, Jet Wilkinson, Simu Liu. NBC will debut The Copenhagen Test series streaming on Peacock starting December 27th, 2025 right at the end of this year. Who’s intrigued? Look any good?

“Did I do something wrong?” “Everyone knows how much you love him.” Vertical has revealed the official trailer for an indie drama titled Rosemead, marking the feature directorial debut of DP & filmmaker Eric Lin. It first premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and opens in theaters in December. Inspired by a harrowing true story, Lucy Liu transforms in a riveting, career-redefining performance as an ailing woman who takes drastic measures to protect her troubled teenage son. If you didn’t pick up on it in the trailer, here’s more context: “Lucy Liu delivers a transformative performance as a terminally ill Chinese immigrant who uncovers her son’s disturbing fixation with mass shootings. As her health deteriorates, she takes increasingly desperate — and morally complex — measures to protect him and confront the darkness he’s drawn to.” Very interesting. Along with Liu, the cast includes Lawrence Shou, Orion Lee, Jennifer Lim, Madison Hu, & James Chen. Looks like a very emotional story. Reviews say she “embodies Irene with a quiet contemplativeness and increasing desperation that will leave you speechless as the credits roll.”

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Eric Lin’s film Rosemead, direct from Vertical’s YouTube:

As his dark obsessions grow and time runs out, she is forced to make impossible choices: how far will she go and what is she willing to sacrifice? Set against the simmering tensions of a Chinese American community, Rosemead is a gripping portrait of a family pushed to the edge. Rosemead is directed by cinematographer / filmmaker Eric Lin, making his feature directorial debut after a few other shorts previously, plus work as a DP on many indie films. The screenplay is written by Marilyn Fu. Produced by Mynette Louie, Andrew D. Corkin, Lucy Liu. This first premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Veritcal will debut Eric Lin’s Rosemead film in select US theaters starting on December 5th, 2025 coming soon. Intrigued?

‘LIU’ Castmates React To Racial Slur On Huda’s Stream

The internet has been buzzing after a recent livestream featuring ‘Love Island USA’ star Huda Mustafa and her boyfriend Louis Russell took a controversial turn. During the stream, a viewer reportedly directed a racial slur toward fellow cast member Olandria, sparking widespread backlash and online discussion. Since the video went viral, Olandria, Huda, and Louis have all spoken out about the incident. Fellow Love Island Season 7 castmates, including Chelley, Hannah, Amaya, and Olandria’s partner Nic, have also taken to social media to address the issue and stand beside her.

Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell Issue Apologies After Livestream Incident

On Wednesday evening, Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell posted new public statements on Instagram following their initial comments on Tuesday night, regarding the viewer who joined their livestream and called Season 7 finalist Olandria a racial slur.

In their updates, both expressed regret over their initial reactions to the comment and acknowledged the harm caused by the racist remark. Huda directly apologized to Olandria in her statement and announced she would donate to the NAACP.

“I want to be clear that I do not condone or tolerate anyone who uses such language,” she wrote. “I strongly encourage the individual responsible to reflect deeply on their words and the harm they’ve caused.”

Louis also shared his perspective as a Black man, writing:

“As a Black man, I have greater empathy through my own lived experiences battling racism. The idea that a flustered response to a very unnerving situation could be misinterpreted as me not taking the matter seriously is incredibly disheartening.”

Former Castmates Chelley and Hannah Speak Out

Former ‘Love Island’ contestant Chelley shared her disappointment after watching the viral clip that appeared to show Huda and Louis laughing as the slur was said. She emphasized that racism is never a joke or entertainment while opening up about her own experiences as a Black woman. Chelley encouraged others to “use their voice and stand up for what’s right, no matter the time, place, or who’s watching.”

Another castmate, Hannah, also said, “I just want to take a moment to say that racism of any kind is completely unacceptable. No one should ever have to experience or hear hateful language directed at them.” She urged fans to take responsibility and call out racism whenever they see it.

Love Island Season 7 Winner Amaya Espinal Encourages Everyone To “Be Kind”

‘Love Island USA’ season 7 winner Amaya Espinal also weighed in, reminding fans to “be kind to all.” Amaya revealed that she reached out privately to everyone involved. She expressed her “heart dropped” for her “fellow sister” Olandria. She reaffirmed her stance against racism and encouraged her followers to treat others with empathy and respect.

Olandria’s Partner Nic Responds With A Powerful Gesture

Fans quickly watched how Olandria’s partner, Nic, would respond amid the controversy. Breaking his silence on Snapchat, Nic shared two donation links that echoed Olandria’s message and urged fans to give to racial justice organizations. In another post, Nic shared how he is “amazed and proud” of Olandria and called out the need for accountability and awareness.

Simu Liu would hate to see film and TV extras replaced by AI

Simu Liu feels that using artificial intelligence (AI) to replace actors is “antiethical”.

Simu Liu îs fearful of AI’s impact on actors

The 36-year-old actor took to social media last week to hit back at Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary’s claim that utilising AI to replace extras could bring down costs on movies and thinks it is essential to have background performers so that aspiring stars can learn the technical aspects of making a film or TV show.

In an interview with Deadline, Simu said: “First of all, I thought that take that I was responding to is a really dumb take, particularly really tone deaf and out of touch and also just kind of incorrect.

“The idea that these background actors who are making minimum wage are somehow the reason why movies now are costing too much, that’s simply not true.”

Liu’s first acting job came as an extra in the 2013 film Pacific Rim and he said the lessons he learned from the experience were “invaluable” for him going forward.

The Barbie star said: “This idea of replacing actors with AI, it’s so antiethical to my development as an actor. I think if I was able to learn from that experience, then how many other people are doing the same? In depriving the world of background actors, you’re also depriving people the opportunity to kind of pick up these skills.”

Simu argues that the art of making movies should remain human, instead of falling under the control of computers.

The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor said: “Film is such an artist’s medium. Of all the uses AI that have come forth, replacing art is just, I feel like, the last thing that anybody wants to do with AI. I feel like art is art because it’s human. It comes down to even the way the extra move… it all plays into the frame, and it’s all meaningful to the story.

“I really do feel like human beings are smart. I feel like when we see somebody in the background not moving like a human, we know. I feel like we could still tell the difference, at least right now.”

In his initial response to O’Leary last week, Simu had written on social media platform X: “Sure, blame the extras making 15-22 dollars an hour struggling to make a living and not above the line people making multiple millions.”

Simu Liu, Melissa Barrera Play Spy Games

Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera play dangerous spy games in the teaser trailer for Peacock’s upcoming espionage thriller The Copenhagen Test, which dropped on Sunday.

Liu plays first-generation Chinese-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale, who discovers his brain has been hacked. That allows access to everything he sees and hears, which makes Hale an open book to his hidden puppet masters.

“I don’t know who I can trust anymore,” Hale says at one point as he’s caught between his shadowy agency and unseen hackers. Enter Barrera as Michelle, a mysterious siren who trades both punches and steamy kisses with Hale, judging by the series’ first-look footage, as he desperately tries to uncover the identity of his hackers.

Meanwhile Hale must continue to act normal to flush out who’s responsible for the hacking and prove where his allegiance lies.  “If they suspect you’re compromised, you’re dead,” Hale is warned as he goes down a rabbit hole in the sci-fi spy thriller.

The Copenhagen Test is set to premiere Dec. 27 on Peacock, and the release of the teaser coincides with co-star Liu touting the eight-parter during a New York Comic Con panel. The series, set five minutes in the future, also stars Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien and Kathleen Chalfant.

The Copenhagen Test was created by Thomas Brandon, who also showruns, writes and executive produces the series alongside Jennifer Yale. Also sharing executive producer credits are James Wan, Liu, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson.
