Coronation Street just saved its police story with powerful Lisa Swain scenes

Initially assuming that Becky had been in a coma, Lisa was reeling to hear she had actually been in Spain under witness protection from a gang, and that the real Tia Wardley’s body had been claimed as hers.

We’ve known for some time that all was not as it seemed regarding Becky. But, with the ITV soap leaning so heavily on its police set and criminal chaos of late, it rendered the saga slow and stale.

Then, coming face-to-face with the wife she thought had been dead for the last four years, all eyes were firmly on Lisa; and Myers gave a showstopping performance that turned the entire plot around.

Viewers are used to actors portraying shock week after week, as soap land would be quiet and unusual without it.

What Myers achieved here, though, was to transcend the genre and make us truly care about the resurrection of a character we had never known until now.

Although Lisa won us over way back when she secured the conviction of killer Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), she has since clocked up quite the fanbase after being made a regular on the cobbles, and falling for Carla.

So it’s safe to say we were gripped by Lisa’s plight, as she journeyed from shaken widow, right through to traumatised witness and an outraged, protective mother.

The range of emotions spanning across one episode was something we hadn’t had the opportunity to see from Lisa, and both the script and the actress leading it gave their all, creating the most captivating instalment of Coronation Street in months.

Not only has the Becky reveal moved the story on at last, her arrival has elevated it, and amid all the corruption surrounding dodgy DI Costello, we’re back to character-driven drama with Lisa right at the very heart of it.

It’s a welcome change of direction, and with newcomer Cudden delivering a strong debut, we’re now ready to find out what kind of person Becky really is.

Although Becky’s presence is sure to complicate the ‘Swarla’ relationship, with the actress recently describing her alter ego’s opinion on Carla, Lisa kept Carla fully involved in the aftermath, and it’s a breath of fresh air to finally take Lisa out of her comfort zone.

Usually seen either at the police station, bickering with daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) or enduring setbacks with Carla caused by her own struggles, Lisa now has the answers she’s been seeking, and more backstory than the limited, off-screen edition.

It’s not that we didn’t believe in what we’d been told, but it was difficult to engage with the mystery of Becky’s death and whether or not she was a rogue officer.

Being able to get to know Becky, and having an extra layer to add to Lisa’s persona, makes this arc all the more authentic.

Lisa’s explosive scenes have revived what started out as a mini-recreation of Line of Duty, transforming it into a worthy exploration of a popular Coronation Street mainstay’s psyche.

Lisa Christiansen’s Passion for Pet Wellness: From Hollywood to Health Advocacy

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Actress Lisa Christiansen shares her commitment to pet wellness and the impact of proper nutrition and mental care.

I’ve always been into more natural remedies when it comes to certain health issues, but it definitely took off during the pandemic when I was really focused on finding ways to keep my family healthy. I’ve always had dogs over the years, so I’ve seen a myriad of health issues. I’m a big fan of adaptogens and different herbs, and I wondered if there were things that I was using that could help my dogs, too.

My passion began in childhood, growing up with a menagerie of adopted and rescued animals. I saw firsthand how small changes in diet and daily routines dramatically improved their happiness and vitality. As my platform grew, and I realized I could use my voice to advocate for better standards in pet care, from educating about the importance of balanced meals to sharing the benefits of enrichment activities. I believe that true pet wellness comes from approaching their needs as complex, sentient beings, deserving of the same love and attention we give ourselves.

It was those things combined that led me to put my fur babies on The Farmers Dog, which I began due to Cindy, my Chinese Crested, who passed away from cancer but not before The Farmers Dog extended her life by over one year. My veterinarian agreed and concluded that adding The Farmers Dog did play a significant role in extending her quality of life and offered her more time here with us before cancer took her.

Pet wellness includes nutrition, exercise, and mental health, but what aspect do you think is often overlooked when it comes to a pet’s overall well-being?

I think mental health is something that’s definitely been overlooked for people, and of course that applies to animals as well.

Absolutely, I think mental health for pets is one area that doesn’t get enough attention. People often focus on feeding high-quality food and getting their pets outside for exercise, but emotional well-being is every bit as important. Pets are deeply affected by the energy and routines within their homes; changes, loud noises, or periods of isolation can really impact them. I’ve found that making time for gentle, focused moments like daily play, puzzle toys, or even short training sessions helps create a sense of security and engagement. Enrichment activities, routine, and positive reinforcement go a long way in preventing anxiety and behavioral issues. Sometimes, it’s just about sitting quietly together and being present those moments can mean everything for a pet’s sense of peace.

I believe our pets can sense how we’re feeling and our energy, so it definitely can affect how they are feeling. Anxious pets are often ones who have anxious parents!

With the holiday season approaching, it’s easy for pets to overeat or miss out on proper nutrition. How do you keep your pets on a healthy diet during this time?

It’s a challenge for all of us! I try to keep all the dogs consistent with their normal meals, but if I know that they’re going to be getting some special treats such as turkey from the table or something, I’ll try and cut their normal food down just a bit.

The holidays are a whirlwind of celebration and change not just for us, but for our pets, too. To keep my dogs on track, I try to keep their feeding routines consistent, resisting the temptation to give them table scraps or holiday treats that could upset their digestion. Instead, I prepare special, pet-friendly snacks using wholesome ingredients I know are safe for them, like steamed veggies or homemade dog biscuits. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to involve my family in caring for our pets, remembering the importance of lovingly saying “no” to begging eyes when it comes to foods that aren’t good for our furry friends.

Beyond nutrition, staying active is crucial during this busy time. Even when our schedules are packed, I make sure we take daily walks or have a little playtime in the yard. I find that not only does it help keep my dogs physically fit, but it also supports their mental well-being something often overlooked amid the festivities. A little extra love, structure, and mindfulness around the holidays can go a long way in making sure our pets are as happy and healthy as possible heading into the new year.

Some pet owners are hesitant to invest in pet insurance. What would you say to them about the importance of having that extra protection for their pets?

I would say that each person knows their pet and finances best, so they should make the best decision for themselves. I definitely know that vet bills can become overwhelming, especially since I have multiple pets and have seen all sorts of health issues and emergencies come up over the years.

How do you balance your career with your advocacy for animal welfare? What drives you to continue this important work?

Balancing my career with advocacy for animal welfare is never a simple task, but it’s one that brings immense purpose to my everyday life. My drive to remain active in this work stems from the deep connection I have with animals their resilience, loyalty, and ability to enrich our lives in countless ways. While my professional commitments can be demanding, I’ve learned to intertwine my advocacy with my career by seeking opportunities where my platform can amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves.

It often requires careful planning and a willingness to prioritize, carving out time for shelter visits, nonprofit collaborations, or community education events, even when my calendar is overflowing. I remind myself that every small effort contributes to a much larger movement. It’s the hope of making a tangible impact whether that’s finding a forever home for a senior dog, championing humane legislation, or supporting grassroots rescue groupsthat keeps me going.

My work is fueled not only by compassion but also by the knowledge that, together, we can create lasting change. Every story of an animal saved or a family reunited with a beloved pet encourages me to persevere, knowing that there is always more to be done.

Looking ahead, I’m constantly inspired to deepen my commitment to animal welfare. The landscape is always evolving—new challenges arise, but so do innovative solutions. I’m passionate about harnessing partnerships and technology to reach broader audiences, whether that’s through social media campaigns, educational webinars, or hands-on volunteering. It’s important to me to foster a culture of empathy and responsibility, encouraging others to recognize the value of advocacy not just as a passion but as a shared duty.

I see each day as an opportunity to build on what’s been accomplished, knowing that my individual efforts are part of a larger tapestry woven by countless advocates, volunteers, and pet lovers. The stories of transformation from frightened rescues blossoming into beloved companions, to communities rallying around animal-friendly initiatives remind me that collective action truly matters.

No matter where my career or personal journey leads, animal welfare remains at the heart of everything I do. My hope is to inspire others to join in, so that together, we can ensure a safer, kinder world for all creatures one paw at a time.

Priscilla Presley’s Lawsuit Reveals New Details of Lisa Marie’s Death

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

The former business advisers who claim Priscilla Presley prematurely ”pulled the plug” on her daughter for financial gain have filed an amended complaint purportedly shedding new light on Lisa Marie Presley’s final hours.

The new complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, attaches two pages said to be from Pricilla’s upcoming memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis, due to publish on Sept. 23. The excerpts appear to offer a detailed account of the day Elvis’ only child died inside a San Fernando Valley community hospital from complications surrounding a small bowel obstruction linked to a prior bariatric surgery.

According to the pages labeled as court exhibits, Priscilla rushed to her daughter’s bedside and was holding her hand, stroking her face, and telling her she was loved as family members gathered. Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, was on a plane to join them when a “code blue” emergency alarm indicated Lisa Marie’s heart had stopped, the pages read.

“The next thing I remember is the doctor talking to me. He asked me what I wanted him to do. They had restarted Lisa’s heart, but there was no guarantee it would keep beating,” Priscilla purportedly writes. “I asked the doctor, ‘What kind of life will she have if we keep her on that machine?’ He looked at me with compassion and shook his head. ‘No quality of life at all.’”

In the excerpts, Priscilla allegedly claims Lisa Marie had “little brain activity” and that the daughter she knew as “always so vital, wasn’t there.”

“I thought about my girl, my wild, rebellious, passionate girl, lying in a vegetative state for the rest of her life,” she wrote, according to the exhibits. “I said what I had to. ‘Take her off the machine, Doctor.’ My voice was barely above a whisper.” She then broke down and blacked out.

“It was unbearable. I began to sob. I don’t remember falling,” she purpotedly wrote. “After that, everything went dark. … I don’t want to remember.”

Editor’s picks

Priscilla’s reps had no immediate comment when asked about the book excerpts on Friday. Her lawyers, Marty Singer and Wayne Harman, previously called the first version of the $50 million fraud and breach-of-contract lawsuit, filed last month by Priscilla’s former business advisers Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko, “one of the most shameful, ridiculous, salacious, and meritless lawsuits” they had ever seen.

On Friday, Singer and Harman issued a new statement focusing on other claims in the amended complaint that alleged Priscilla pushed Elvis to an early grave. According to the new complaint, Priscilla’s efforts to increase her divorce settlement “exerted undue pressure on Elvis, pushing him to his death.”

“Priscilla did not have anything to do with the assassination of JFK, she did not cover up Area 51, she did not fake the moon landing, and she is not secretly keeping Bigfoot locked in a cabin in Canada. Take off the aluminum foil hat and face reality,” the lawyers said, before going on the offensive. They then claimed Kruse “engaged in a relentless and calculated campaign of elder abuse and fraud in order to take control of Ms. Presley’s finances for her own benefit.”

In a separate financial elder abuse lawsuit, filed last year, Priscilla claims Kruse and Fialko duped her into signing a series of contracts that gave her only minority interests in the companies they formed to exploit her name, image and likeness. For their part, Kruse and Fialko claim Priscilla entered the contracts knowingly, benefitted from their services and then cut them off, in breach of their agreements, when her fortunes changes in the aftermath of Lisa Marie’s death. (Video unearthed by Rolling Stone shows Priscilla signing the contracts at Kruse’s house with a lawyer present.)

“Apparently, Ms. Presley’s defense is to list off nonsense hyperbolic statements that have no substance. The documents are in black and white and speak volumes. To date, Ms. Presley has presented zero evidence in support of her salacious claims, and we intend to hold her accountable for her reckless behavior,” Jordan Matthews, the lawyer representing Kruse and Fialko, said Friday, responding to the latest statement from Priscilla’s lawyers.

Lisa Marie was 54 when she died in the hospital on Jan. 12, 2023. When Kruse and Fialko filed the first version of their Los Angeles lawsuit last month, they garnered headlines with their blockbuster claim that Priscilla violated Lisa Marie’s advanced health care directive. They attached the directive, in which Lisa stated she wanted her life “prolonged as long as possible within the limits of generally accepted health care standards.” The advisers claimed Presley discontinued life support “within hours” because she was estranged from her daughter and knew Lisa Marie was on the verge of removing her as the sole trustee of a $25 million life insurance trust. They said Priscilla already had been removed from her role managing Lisa Marie’s Promenade Trust and was facing threats of possible legal action from Lisa Marie.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, a few weeks after Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla challenged Lisa Marie’s 2016 amendment to her main asset, the Promenade Trust. The amendment removed Priscilla as co-trustee and replaced her with Riley Keough, as well as Lisa Marie’s now deceased son Benjamim Keough, who died in July 2020. Priscilla was never a beneficiary of the Promenade Trust, so the change meant she lost her only influence over Promenade’s marquis assets, including Elvis’ Graceland mansion, its archives, and Lisa Marie’s 15 percent interest in Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company that owns and manages Elvis’ name, image, and likeness. Priscilla wanted the court to declare the amendment “invalid.”

Trending Stories

With a potential legal war looming, Keough reached a generous settlement with her grandmother in a matter of months. Under the deal, Priscilla received a $1 million lump-sum payment off the top of Lisa Marie’s $25 million life insurance policy. Keough also agreed to pay Priscilla $50,000 to resign as co-trustee of the irrevocable trust whose sole asset was the life insurance policy. And Priscilla was awarded an annual salary of $100,000 for 10 years for her new role as a “special adviser” to the Promenade Trust.

The next hearing in the elder abuse case is set for next week. The first case management conference in Kruse and Fialko’s breach of contract case is set for February.
