8 Best Liquid Highlighters We Tested 2025, Makeup Artist-Approved

Our tester says: “I was really impressed with this drugstore formula. It’s super pigmented—literally one tap of product on each cheek is enough—and stays put for hours. I like that it’s under $10. It’s lasted me over four months and performs just as well as as other higher-priced highlighters in my collection,” says Kilkeary.

Best for Deep Skin Tones: Iconic London Illuminator

A cult-favorite among both celebrities and makeup artists, this best-selling liquid highlighter is incredibly versatile—apply it on bare skin for a gentle sheen, or mix it into your foundation, moisturizer, or primer anytime you want a customizable, glossy finish.

Our tester says: “This Iconic London highlighter is perfect if you’re looking for a dewy, glowy look. I tend to prefer a matte finish with my makeup, so I set it with a highlighter and it still gave me a natural glow without taking the pigment away. It lasted all day and blended well with my other liquid-based products. It’s perfect for a natural, light makeup look,” says Glamour senior social media manager Jazmin Gathers.

Best for Mature Skin: Tarte Glow Tape Highlighter

Makeup artists tell us liquid highlighters are especially flattering on mature skin, since they can blur the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This pigmented formula does exactly that with shea butter to create a silky, even-textured, fresh finish.

Our tester says: “Tarte highlighter’s applicator is supercool. The pen-like makeup has a sponge on top, and when you click the top to the left the highlighter appears on the sponge. When I put about three dots on my cheeks, it’s more than enough product, and it can actually double as a blusher—the Rose Glow shade is perfect for my fair complexion, and I found I didn’t need to also use blush. It’s the perfect step in my two-minute makeup routine, when I just need to run out the door super fast. And since it’s in a convenient portable applicator, I can also throw it in my bag to use later in the day when I need to refresh my look. The texture is just creamy enough to moisturize my skin and yet stay on my cheeks. I used it on my cheeks, chin, on top of my brow bones, and the tip of my nose to give a sun kissed-gleam that wasn’t sparkly, just a perfect shine,” says Glamour copy manager Charlotte Twine.

Best Highlighter and Bronzer: Live Tinted Hueglow Liquid Highlighter Drops

For a lit-from-within glow that comes before foundation, try these multi-use highlighter drops that blend seamlessly into moisturizer. They have a blend of squalane, sunflower seed oil, and hyaluronic acid to smooth dry, flaky patches and improve skin texture overall. And if you want a little extra shimmer, they layer beautifully on top of makeup too (without causing it to pill or separate).

How to Apply Liquid Lipstick Correctly, According to Pro Makeup Artists

At first glance, learning how to apply liquid lipstick may seem intuitive. But in reality, it’s not always as simple as swiping on your favorite gloss.

Liquid formulas combine the pigment of a classic lipstick with the controlled application of a lip-gloss wand. It typically goes on wet, and dries into a smudge-proof texture. The product is loved by makeup artists and enthusiasts alike for its staying power: “A liquid lipstick will be more long-lasting and overall wear longer throughout the day than a regular lipstick,” Steve Kassajikian, head of global artistry for Urban Decay, tells Glamour. “Plus, you won’t get transfer or bleeding with a liquid lipstick that you might experience from a solid.”

Whether you’re after a statement lip or a pillowy neutral pout, liquid lipstick is a product you can count on to elevate your whole look—and last. Below, pro makeup artists share their best tips for maximizing your liquid lip.

How to prep your lips for liquid lipstick

Experts say that the most common mistake when using liquid lipstick is not preparing your lips properly for the product. “Lip care prior to applying liquid lipstick is essential for a smooth application,” says Lauren D’Amelio Ventre, a celebrity makeup artist. Before you go in with makeup, “exfoliate the lips with a gentle lip scrub to remove dry skin and to avoid patchiness,” Kassajikian says. “Then apply a lip balm to bring moisture back into the lips.”

Once some hydration has soaked in, blot your balm off your lips for a drier base. An optional next step is applying a lipstick primer—“but it’s not really needed if you prep by exfoliating and hydrating,” D’Amelio Ventre says.

After prepping your lips for the product (see above), experts recommend tracing the outline of your lips with a lip liner. “I always prefer a liner before applying liquid lipstick. It works as a barrier and gives you an outline to achieve the perfect lip shape,” Kassajikian says. D’Amelio Ventre agrees: “It comes down to personal preference, but it just makes the liquid lipstick look bolder and sharper.”

Liquid Mike: Hell Is an Airport Album Review

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

As far as indie rock origin stories go, “mailman moonlighting as a rock star gets word-of-mouth breakthrough, no label needed” is about as cool as it gets. Mike Maple started driving for USPS in 2020, shortly before his band Liquid Mike released its first two albums. Since then, the prolific group has put out a record a year of high-octane garage rock, drawing in a cult fanbase: Its 2023 album S/T struck a nerve on Bandcamp and Twitter, despite having almost no formal promotion; then, 2024’s Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot earned the group critical buzz and support slots with bands like Descendants, Joyce Manor, and Militarie Gun.

Like other Midwest rockers before them—The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, and Guided By Voices all come to mind—Liquid Mike like their runtimes short, their guitars loud, and their hooks easy to sing along to no matter how many beers you’ve had. The band’s first five albums were mostly inspired by Maple’s time driving the mail truck around Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and the small-town shenanigans he and his friends got up to off the clock. Their discography is filled with “get out of this town” anthems—but on their sixth album, Hell Is an Airport, Liquid Mike asks what happens when a hometown hero’s journey takes him outside of his familiar surroundings.

A lot of what happens, it turns out, is more of the same. Most of these songs see Maple in head-on collision with the realization that the ennui of his home life won’t disappear once he hits the road. “What are you running from?/A middle-aged Houdini/Locked ice box/Works hard to take it easy,” Maple sings on “Grand Am,” pondering the hours he spent at previous dead-end jobs—now that his dream job has become his day job, was the less predictable path worth it? “AT&T” features some subtle record scratching underneath its shimmery guitar progression, as Maple drags out the line, “How the days move slow” in a way that could apply both to the hurry-up-and-wait of his life as a touring musician, or the grind that preceded it when this kind of success was just a daydream.

Maple’s fears of becoming an “out-of-touch out-of-towner” bubble to the surface of the speedy and metallic “Double Dutch,” though oftentimes Hell Is an Airport sees Maple and his band leaving town only to discover that the rest of the country embodies the same monotony they’ve been trying to escape. Abandoned malls, endless highways, and dead-eyed service workers are reminders of alienation on all fronts. Hell Is an Airport soundtracks industrial wastelands and suburban sprawl with wiry power-pop, crunched-up grunge-gaze, and even the occasional coughing fit of stoner metal.

Harvard gastroenterologist shares 3 foods to avoid that cause fatty liver: ‘Sodas and juices are liquid poison…’

Cases of fatty liver are on the rise, largely fueled by poor dietary habits and processed foods. While the condition can have serious long-term consequences, simple changes to what you eat can significantly reduce fat accumulation in the liver and lower the risk of liver disease.

Gastroenterologist Dr Saurabh Sethi, trained at AIIMS, Harvard and Stanford universities, is breaking down the role of unhealthy nutrition choices that contribute to the accumulation of fat in the liver. In an Instagram video posted on September 9, the gut doctor revealed three common food choices that are detrimental to your liver health and should be avoided in order to protect your liver, stressing that simple dietary changes make a big difference.

Sugary drinks

According to Dr Sethi, sugary drinks like sodas and juices “are loaded with empty calories and can severely damage your liver, contributing to fatty liver disease.” Sugary drinks, especially those containing high-fructose corn syrup, contribute to insulin resistance and liver fat accumulation by overwhelming the liver’s ability to process fructose, leading to fat buildup and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, according to a study published in Hepatology Communications.

The gastroenterologist dubs soft drinks as “liquid poison” and recommends sticking to water, sparkling water, tea or coffee, as they are much healthier choices.

Deep-fried foods

Second on Dr Sethi’s list are deep-fried foods. He states, “deep-fried foods, especially those cooked in unhealthy oils, should be avoided,” to reduce liver fat because they are high in unhealthy trans fats and saturated fats, which lead to fat accumulation, inflammation, obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, according to Chennai Liver Foundation.

Ultra-processed foods

Lastly, Dr Sethi explains, “Items like chips, candies, sugary cereals, hot dogs, and instant noodles are highly processed and detrimental to liver health.” Ultra-processed foods are high in unhealthy fats, added sugars, and artificial additives that strain the liver, as per Hepatitis NSW, and can contribute to liver inflammation and disruption of the gut microbiome.
