KISS Legend Gene Simmons Involved in Multi-Car Accident After Fainting

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Gene Simmons almost nearly had his own “Detroit Rock City” moment after the KISS singer-bassist was involved in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon.

As Los Angeles’ NBC4 reports, Simmons, 76, was driving his Lincoln Navigator on the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu when he veered across several lines of traffic. Simmons’ SUV finally came to a stop when he struck a parked car.

Simmons was reportedly communicative at the scene, telling EMTs and first responders that he fainted. His wife, Shannon Tweed, told TMZ that he is on a new medication that could worsen dehydration, and that he often doesn’t drink enough water. No other injuries were reported.

Simmons was sent to a local hospital per protocol, but was discharged that same day. He went as far as to leave NBC4 a voicemail indicating that he was recuperating nicely at home. Ah, to be the intern who got to hear that message before anyone else.

We here at Consequence wish the recent Kennedy Center honoree a speedy recovery. In the meantime, revisit his interview with Kyle Meredith from this past May, where Simmons talks about the “death” of rock ‘n’ roll, playing in Las Vegas, and the oddly confusing nature of Broadway productions.

Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.

How the Son of a Boxing Legend Died – Hollywood Life

Arturo Gatti Jr., the son of late Canadian pro boxer Arturo Gatti, died. He was 17 years old. Gatti’s former bodyguard, Chuck Zito, announced the devastating news of his cause of death on October 8, 2025, and Boxing News released a statement expressing its condolences to the Gatti family.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Arturo Gatti Jr, who has died at just 17 years old in Mexico,” Boxing News’ statement read. “Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time. May he rest in peace.”

Here’s what we know about Gatti Jr.’s untimely death and his late father.

Who Was Arturo Gatti?

Gatti Sr. was a professional Canadian boxer and a world champion in two weight classes. He came from a family of boxers as the brother of former pro Joe Gatti.

Gatti Sr. was married to his wife, Brazil native Amanda Rodrigues, whom he shared his son, Gatti Jr., with. Gatti Sr. also had a daughter from a previous relationship.

How Did Arturo Gatti Die in 2009?

Gatti was found dead in July 2009 in a hotel in Ipojuca, Pernambuco, Brazil, where he was on a trip with his wife and son. He was 37. Though Rodrigues was initially charged by Brazilian authorities for what they ruled a homicide, the coroner’s report revealed that Gatti died by suicide. Charges against Gatti’s widowed wife were subsequently dropped.

Who Was Arturo Gatti Jr.?

As the son of a late pro boxer, Gatti Jr. planned to follow in his father’s footsteps in the sport. He competed at the amateur level until he died in 2025.

How Did Arturo Gatti Jr. Die? His Cause of Death

Though it’s still too early for an autopsy report, Zito, Gatti’s former bodyguard, announced via Instagram in October 2025 that Gatti Jr. died “the same way” as his father did: by suicide.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say,…. R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR. who was found hanging in an apartment in Mexico yesterday,” Zito wrote in the caption. “The same way they found his father dead in an apartment in Brazil 16 years ago. My condolences to Arturo Gatti Seniors – Mom, Sisters, Brothers, and his daughter Sophia.”

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Dolly Parton’s Sister Requests Prayers as Country Legend Faces Health Challenges – Fans React

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Freida Estelle Parton is asking fans of her sister, Dolly Parton, to pray for the country music legend’s recovery after the “Jolene” singer was forced to postpone a series of Las Vegas shows due to health issues.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” wrote Freida in a Facebook post. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”

“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine,” continued Freida. “Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

On Sunday, September 28, Dolly revealed in an Instagram post that she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency dates by nearly a year to focus on her health.

In the post, Parton wrote: “I want the fans to hear it directly from me, that unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”

She concluded the message with, “He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures will all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”

Dolly Parton’s recent health concerns and the cancellation of several appearances come after weeks of ongoing struggles. In September, the country legend had to cancel an in-person event at Dollywood during the grand opening of its newest attraction, the Night Flight Expedition ride. She later sent fans a video message explaining her health issues at the time.

“I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, turned out it’d given me an infection,” said Parton in the pre-recorded message. “The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better.’”

As the “9 to 5” singer recovers, fans and friends swarmed to her social media pages to wish her well and offer their support.

“Currently googling ‘how to donate my organs to Dolly Parton,’” wrote one fan on her Instagram page.

“We love you Dolly! You’re an inspiration to humanity 💞,” wrote country singer Margo Price.

9-1-1: Nashville star Jessica Capshaw wrote: “Love you, Dolly!! Rest up. ♥️”

Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile posted: “Beyond reproach ❤️🙌”

“I can’t even imagine what this world would be like without her in it. She is the last shining hope for humanity,” wrote a fan on Facebook.

Only Fools and Horses legend Patrick Murray dies, aged 68

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Patrick Murray, best known for playing Mickey Pearce in Only Fools and Horses, has died aged 68.

Murray became a household name for his portrayal of the cheeky, boastful wheeler-dealer Mickey Pearce – a fixture in the beloved BBC sitcom from 1983 to 2003.

Known for his comic timing and swaggering self-confidence, Murray’s character often clashed with Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and was famed for his tall tales of business success.

He appeared in 20 episodes across the show’s 22-year run, helping make Only Fools and Horses one of the most popular British comedies of all time.

A statement shared by an Only Fools and Horses fan account on X read: “It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray – Mickey Pearce to so many. He was a regular attendee of our conventions, and we will miss his humour and the joy he brought to many.”

Born in London, Murray spent several years living in Thailand, where he married his wife Anong in 2016. The couple had one daughter, Josie.

Murray remained closely associated with Only Fools and Horses throughout his life, often attending fan conventions and reunions.

Outside of the BBC sitcom, Murray built up a varied career on both the big and small screen.

He first made his mark in the late 1970s, appearing alongside Ray Winstone in both the BBC television play Scum and its 1979 film adaptation. That same year, he featured in the cult classic Quadrophenia, sharing the screen with Sting, Toyah Willcox, Michael Elphick and Timothy Spall.

He went on to appear in films including Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), as well as several television roles throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

John Legend Honored At 2025 Black Music Action Coalition Gala: Photos

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

The 2025 Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Gala brought musicians, executives, journalists, and activists together for a common cause. For the fifth annual event, hundreds gathered at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA., to recognize the important work done by the organization as well as to fund and empower its future efforts. BMAC was founded in 2020 and, since its inception, has distributed over $4 million in direct economic relief, established over 200 paid internships and job placements, reached more than 5,500 students, and mentored over 500 emerging music artists and industry professionals.

“Many would think that the work and the progress that happened in 2020 was not effective, but it’s actually the complete opposite. The reason why we are feeling this sort of federal attack on diversity and inclusion is because of the impact that was made in 2020. So this is not the time to retreat, but the time to double and triple down on those commitments, and the music industry has always challenged this country and the world to live up to its potential, and so that’s what inspires us,” explained BMAC cofounder and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers on the red carpet ahead of the event.

“BMAC might have formed in 2020, but we come from a long tradition of the entertainment industry being able to be a powerful platform to advance these conversations, and over the next five years, we are going to be as committed as we ever been,” as he continued to relay organization plans to expand its advocacy into global territory.

In all its elegance, the 2025 Gala added John Legend, Irving Azoff, Sherrese Clarke / HarbourView Equity Partners, Kai Cenat and Apple & Apple Music, and Primary Wave Music to its growing list of esteemed honorees in its five-year history. The event kicked off with a four-course dinner and musical selections performed by the 1500 Or Nothing musical ensemble. After a call for donations at the fundraising event, with the largest public commitment being $10,000, host Mickey Guyton took the stage to perform “Black Like Me.”

She was then joined by her co-host, Kenny Burns, who shifted attention to current events with lighthearted quips about Jimmy Kimmel being suspended indefinitely at ABC, accompanied by a brief snippet of YG and Nipsey Hussle’s politically-charged “FDT.” While the event featured first-time introductions, well overdue reunions, dancing, and a performance by Earth, Wind & Fire, all in attendance were united on the mission. Guests included Tyrese, Cash Cobain, Estelle, Eric Benét, and more.

During his time on stage, John Legend shared a passionate speech, bringing Burns’ opening remarks full circle.

“Progress isn’t guaranteed. Power doesn’t give itself away, and truth-telling doesn’t come without a cause. We’re watching it happen in real time. Our government is kidnapping and disappearing our friends and neighbors. People [are] taking their kids to school, serving food in the park. And then they’re flooding our streets with militarized soldiers, war fighters, to silence those who dare to speak out. We’re watching the richest people on earth get richer while our government takes from the poorest children in the world,” remarked the Ohio native as he accepted the BMAC Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award presented by Babyface.

“We’re watching journalists, truth-tellers, get punished for doing their jobs. Just this week, the Washington Post fired a black woman journalist, Karen Attiah, for simply quoting the exact words of the President’s favorite podcaster,” in reference to Charlie Kirk.

He continued, “We are living in a time where truth-telling comes with consequences, a time where progress is reversed, facts are distorted, and those who dare to speak up are punished. But every step forward we’ve ever taken in this country, every single win began with somebody telling the truth,” adding, “That’s what Nina Simone understood in 1963 when she sat down at her piano in a moment of fury and courage. And that’s the tradition I choose to walk in.”

A statement from the Greater Manchester Police read: “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend [a residence in] Tameside, at 6:45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Hatton, known as The Hitman, competed between 1997 and 2012, and has since worked as a boxing promoter and trainer.

During his 15-year career, he won 45 of his 48 professional bouts, defeating giants including Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo. In 2007, he was awarded an MBE for services to sport.

He last fought professionally in 2012, suffering a defeat to Vyacheslav Senchenko.

In 2023, a documentary about Hatton’s life, which followed his upbringing in Manchester, his incredible boxing career, and his personal life, was released by Sky.

Last year, Hatton appeared on Dancing on Ice, being partnered with professional skater Robin Johnstone.

Earlier this year, Hatton announced a comeback fight against Eisa Aldah, which was due to happen on 2nd December in Dubai.

Fellow boxing legend Amir Khan was one of the first to pay tribute to the sportsman, writing on social media: “Today we lost not only one of Britain’s greatest boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton.”

Christy trailer: Sydney Sweeney enters Oscars race as she packs in the punches in biopic of boxing legend. Watch

by jummy84 September 11, 2025

Actor Sydney Sweeney undergoes a jaw-dropping transformation to play celebrated boxing champion Christy Martin in her upcoming release Christy. The actor dropped the official trailer of the film on Thursday, days after the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she earned rave reviews. Many even predicted that Sydney could very well earn an Oscar nomination for her performance in the film. David Michôd has directed the film.

Sydney Sweeney plays former boxer Christy Martin in the film.

About the trailer

The trailer begins with Sydney being introduced into the world of boxing as a newcomer. In no time, she is punching her way to grand success, winning titles and setting her life up with manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster). But things do take a hard turn, when it seems that she no longer has the same control over her game as well as her life. Sydney’s physical transformation and emotional resilience form the highlight of the trailer.

About the film

The official synopsis of the film reads, “Christy Martin (Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia — until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).”

It adds, “But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it — confronting family, identity, and a relationship that just might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life.”

Reacting to the trailer, a fan commented, “Sydney for her first Oscar, lets go!” Another said, “Yeah Christy looks quite great! Pretty hyped for this one!!” A comment read, “She looks so different here! Can’t wait to see.”

The film tells the story of Martin’s rise in the 1990s and charts her personal experiences, including her husband’s attempted murder in 2010. It is produced by Black Bear, Anonymous Content, Votiv, Fifty-Fifty Films, and Yoki. Also starring Ben Foster and Merritt Wever, the film is set to be released theatrically on November 7.

Rick Wakeman, the legendary former Yes keyboardist, has announced a new solo album titled Melancholia, out October 17th.

The 12-track release completes a trilogy of piano suites by Wakeman that began with 2017’s Piano Portraits and continued with 2018’s Piano Odyssey. This latest work was recorded on a Steinway Model D, and it marks Wakeman’s first studio album since he announced his impending retirement from touring last year.

According to a press announcement, Melancholia began with a “quiet moment at the piano” one afternoon when Wakeman’s wife overheard him playing the “contemplative piece” that would later become the track “Garo.”

The press release continues: “And because she knew well that he often turned to the piano in times of sadness or inner turbulence, using music as a kind of emotional compass, she encouraged him to share it. What followed was not a conceptual record in the traditional sense, but a deeply cohesive suite, written intuitively at first and later shaped in collaboration with long-time producer and engineer Erik Jordan at The Granary Studio in Norfolk.”

Melancholia will be available as a 2-CD/DVD set (featuring hi-res stereo audio and short documentary about the making of the album); on both silver and black vinyl; as a standalone CD; and digitally. Pre-orders can be found via Wakeman’s webstore.

Wakeman was forced to postpone a summer US tour as he underwent surgery to correct an unspecified “ongoing health issue.” However, he’ll be back on the road for a UK tour in October. Pick up tickets here.
