NewJeans to Return to Label Following Legal Dispute

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

K-pop group NewJeans have announced that they will return to record label Ador following a prolonged legal dispute. In a statement to Pitchfork, Ador—an imprint of Hybe—said that members Hyein and Haerin had “decided to respect the court’s latest ruling and adhere to their exclusive contract.” The group’s other members, Hanni, Danielle, and Minji, subsequently confirmed that they would be returning to the label as well, BBC News reports.

Hanni, Danielle, and Minji shared that their decision was made “after careful discussion” and “was relayed late as one member is currently in Antarctica, but as [Ador] is not responding at the moment, we are inevitably announcing this through a separate statement.” They added, “We will continue greeting you with sincere music and performances.”

NewJeans first announced their intention to split from Ador last year, after the dismissal of label CEO and the group’s mentor, Min Hee-Jin. Its members then accused the label of mistreatment, with singer Hanni alleging multiple instances of workplace harassment. NewJeans also attempted to rebrand to NJZ in an effort to work around their exclusivity deal with Ador; however, a Seoul court ruled that the group had failed to prove significant negligence on the part of the label.

At a concert last March, NewJeans announced that they would be indefinitely pausing all band activities. In June, a South Korean high court ruled—in a decision that was upheld by a Seoul district court last month—that the group would have to honor their seven-year contract with Ador, which extends through 2029. At the time, a legal representative for NewJeans told Rolling Stone that the group planned to appeal October’s ruling.

Ador’s statement to Pitchfork continued, “[Ador] is committed to providing its full support to [Haerin] and [Hyein] to ensure the seamless continuation of their artistic endeavors. We request the warm support from the fans and respectfully urge you to avoid engaging in unfounded speculation regarding the members.”

Morgan Freeman Taking Legal Action Over Al Replicas Of His Voice: My Lawyers Have Been Very, Very Busy

Chile…y’all done pissed #MorganFreeman off!

The veteran actor, who’s been a force in #Hollywood since the 1960s, arguably has one of the most recognizable voices in pop culture. Beyond his acclaimed film career, Freeman’s voice has long been a staple in animation, narration, music collaborations, and even video games. However, with the rise of #AI, his signature vocals are now being replicated for projects he never recorded or approved.

Airing out his frustrations on the matter to The Guardian, he said, “I’m a little PO’d, you know. I’m like any other actor: don’t mimic me with falseness. I don’t appreciate it and I get paid for doing stuff like that, so if you’re gonna do it without me, you’re robbing me.”

Making it known that his legal team is taking care of the issue, he continued, “Well, I tell you, my lawyers have been very, very busy.” When asked if any cases are being pursued, Freeman added, “Many, yeah. Quite a few.”

Should more celebs take legal action when AI mimics their voice or likeness without permission?

I was young when I got married, scarred to be honest, but whatever happened was by mutual understanding. I never wanted anyone to exploit my fame for personal benefit.”

He adds, “I have learned to stay away from people who are social parasites and fame diggers” in life. I have struggled to reach where I am today and people want to encash my hard-work. I worked hard to reach where I am today.”

We further quizzed Abhishek, if he plans to take a legal action against his ex-wife, and the actor, said, “People are with me. I prefer to I focus more on my success. And success is the purest form of revenge. People have seen who I really am, and they’re with me.” The actor doesn’t want to take a legal action against the defamatory claims made by his ex-wife, rather wants to focus on hai work ahead.

Our connection was organic and honest, and over time, it grew stronger. But it was always based on understanding and respect,” he adds.

Abhishek says that despite the noise outside, he wants to focus on his journey and what he stood for inside the show. He wraps with, “Ashnoor and I are good friends and nothing more. People can think what they want to, we know the truth. I entered the house with honesty and came out with the same. I was real, I was respectful, and I maintained my principles. That’s what matters to me.”

Donald Trump Threatens Legal Action Against BBC Over Speech Editing

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened the BBC with legal action over documentary program “Panorama’s” editing of the speech he made ahead of the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to BBC News, the BBC confirmed it has received the letter and will “respond in due course.”

Controversy erupted over the weekend after a leaked memo from former BBC adviser Michael Prescott was published by The Telegraph suggesting that “Panorama” edited a Trump speech to make it sound like he encouraged the Jan. 6 riots. It resulted in the shocking resignations of both BBC director general Tim Davie and CEO of news Deborah Turness on Sunday night.

On Monday, BBC Chair Samir Shah apologized for the edit in a letter to the U.K. culture, media and sport committee and called it an “error of judgement.” Speaking with the BBC’s Katie Razzall following the letter’s publication, Shah said that he has been in contact with Trump’s team and is considering personally apologizing to the president. Asked if Trump will sue the BBC, Shah said: “I do not know that yet, but he’s a litigious fellow so we should be prepared for all outcomes.”

Prescott’s memo said “Panorama” edited Trump’s speech to be: “We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore.” Prescott wrote that Trump said the part beginning with “and we fight” 54 minutes after “we’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you.”

Trump celebrated the news of Davie and Turness’ resignations on Sunday night, calling the organization “corrupt ‘journalists.’”

“These are very dishonest people who tried to step on the scales of a Presidential Election,” Trump wrote. “On top of everything else, they are from a Foreign Country, one that many consider our Number One Ally. What a terrible thing for Democracy!”

In September, Trump sued the New York Times for $15 billion claiming defamation and libel, which was tossed out days later by a judge. Last month, he refiled the suit.

Blake Lively requests $161M in damages amid Justin Baldoni legal battle – National

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Blake Lively is seeking over US$160 million in damages due to an alleged smear campaign launched against her during the release of the film It Ends With Us.

In a newly unsealed court filing, viewed by People, Lively claimed she lost $56.2 million in past and future earnings from acting, speaking engagements and endorsements.

The documents, originally submitted in July, claim that the 38-year-old actor also suffered $71 million in lost business profits from her haircare line, Blake Brown, and her beverage companies, Betty Buzz and Betty Booze.

Her legal team also alleges Lively has suffered $34 million in reputational harm due to “defamatory statements.”

In her lawsuit, which was first filed on Dec. 31, 2024, Lively’s legal team stated that her damages exceeded $75,000. But in a disclosure provided to the defence in the new documents, her team argued that she has suffered at least $161 million in actual damages.

Her lawyers will also seek at least three times that in punitive damages, according to Variety.

Lively’s disclosure notes that her damages figure is preliminary and subject to proof via expert testimony at trial, per the filing.

The documents came after a final judgment was entered in her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni’s $400-million defamation and extortion countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds after Baldoni missed the deadline to file an amended complaint.

Last Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman signed an order stating that Baldoni, 41, and his production company Wayfarer Studios had let the deadline lapse after the court dismissed the case in June.

Liman said he’d contacted all parties on Oct. 17 to let them know he’d be entering a final judgment to conclude the case.

Lively was the only one to respond, asking the judge to finalize the dismissal and keep her request for legal fees open, which the judge agreed to.

Baldoni may still appeal the dismissal after the court decides Lively’s pending motion for legal fees, according to E! News.

Liman previously dismissed Baldoni and production company Wayfarer Studios’ lawsuit on June 9, but allowed him and his legal team to amend the complaint to change the “allegations relevant to the claims of tortious interference with contract and breach of implied covenant.”

Liman also ruled that Baldoni’s claims that Lively stole creative control of the film didn’t count as extortion under California law.

“The Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Lively is responsible for any statements other than the statements in her CRD complaint, which are privileged,” Liman wrote in the opinion and order filing. “The Wayfarer Parties have alleged that Reynolds and (publicist Leslie) Sloane made additional statements accusing Baldoni of sexual misconduct and that the Times made additional statements accusing the Wayfarer Parties of engaging in a smear campaign.

“But the Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Reynolds, Sloane or the Times would have seriously doubted these statements were true based on the information available to them, as is required for them to be liable for defamation under applicable law.

“The Wayfarer Parties’ additional claims also fail. Accordingly, the Amended Complaint must be dismissed in its entirety.”

The judge also dismissed Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit against the New York Times, which had reported on Lively’s sexual harassment allegations.

Baldoni’s suit was seeking at least $400 million for damages that included lost future income. The lawsuit from Baldoni and production company Wayfarer Studios, which also named Sloane as a defendant, came about two weeks after Lively sued Baldoni and several others tied to the film, alleging harassment and a co-ordinated campaign to attack her reputation for coming forward about her treatment on the set.

Lively sought unspecified damages when she sued Baldoni in late December 2024 for alleged sexual harassment and retaliation. The trial is currently set to take place in March 2026.

“RHOA” Star Angela Oakley’s Husband, NBA Veteran Charles Oakley, Ordered To Pay $642K In Legal Fees To Madison Square Garden Following Viral 2017 Arena Ejection

#RHOA Star #AngelaOakley’s hubby will have to hand over a pretty penny to #MadisonSquareGarden (MSG).

Former NBA forward #CharlesOakley has been ordered to pay more than $642,000 in legal #MSG, stemming from the fallout of his ejection from a 2017 game. The fee award stems largely from a court determination that Charles failed to preserve five years’ worth of text messages, which were crucial to his civil suit accusing MSG and owner #JamesDolan of a$$ault, battery and defamation.

The incident in question occurred on February 8, 2017, when Charles was removed from his courtside seat at MSG during a game between the #NewYorkKnicks and the #LosAngelesClippers. He was seen arguing with arena security and was handcuffed and escorted out by several security guards. He was later charged with misdemeanor a$$ault and criminal trespassing.

Charles maintained that he “never said a word to Dolan” and was “minding his own business when…security asked why I was sitting so close to Dolan.” Charles’ legal team plans to appeal the ruling.

Television actress Mahhi Vij and her husband Jay Bhanushali have once again become the subject of separation rumors. For months, speculation has been rife that the couple’s 14-year marriage had hit rock bottom with some reports even claiming that they had signed divorce papers between July and August 2025. However, putting all rumors to rest, Mahhi Vij has now issued a strong statement and threatened to take legal action against those spreading fake news about her marriage.

Mahhi Vij On Divorce Rumors

Mahhi took to her Instagram stories to express her anger over a viral post that claimed she and Jay had officially parted ways. The post read, “Is it all over? After 14 years of marriage, Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali are getting a divorce. A source has confirmed that the divorce papers have been signed and everything was finalized between July and August.” Responding to this, Mahhi slammed the baseless rumor, writing, “Don’t post false news. Their daughter, Tara, often appears in separate videos, sometimes with her father, other times with Mahhi, fueling curiosity about their relationship status.
