Turkey Leg Hut Founder Nakia Holmes Arrested, Accused Of Hiding Ex-Boyfriend Wanted In Houston A$$ault & Kidnapping Case

The #TurkeyLegHut has another scandal to add to its resume.

Nakia Holmes, founder of the now-closed infamous #Houston restaurant, was arrested on Oct. 15 and charged with hindering the apprehension or prosecution of a known felon. Authorities allege that Holmes assisted Johnathan Saizon, her ex-boyfriend, who was wanted for aggravated kidnapping and a$$ault. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Holmes misled deputies by denying that Saizon was at her residence, even though he was seen fleeing from the property. Holmes is accused of passing a message to Saizon that prompted his escape. She was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday (Oct. 17).

According to court records, on Oct. 8, Saizon allegedly kidnapped a woman, said to be his ex, and a$$aulted her with a tire iron. The victim’s son told the authorities that Saizon “held her against her will for six hours.” Saizon is currently in jail. He faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and aggravated a$$ault of a family member, a second-degree felony.

Vascular surgeon warns chronic leg pain and numbness can be a sign of blocked arteries, shares 6 symptoms of PAD

Many people dismiss recurring leg pain or cramps as a normal part of aging, especially when the discomfort fades after resting. But experts warn that this pattern – pain that comes with activity and eases with rest – can be an early sign of underlying conditions like Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Ignoring these signals may allow the condition to progress, increasing the risk of serious complications.

Chronic leg pain could point towards Peripheral Artery Disease, according to Dr Sumit Kapadia.(Pixabay)

Dr Sumit Kapadia, a vascular surgeon and varicose vein specialist with 18 years of experience, is raising awareness about the early warning signs of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), which includes chronic leg pain. In an Instagram video posted on September 2, he outlines six early warning signs in the legs that may indicate PAD and emphasises that recognising them promptly can help prevent serious complications later.

Leg pain isn’t just ‘getting older’

Dr Kapadia shares an anecdote about a gentleman who paid a visit to his clinic due to pain in his legs, and said, “Doctor, I thought it was just age catching up with me. My legs hurt when I walked, but the pain went away when I rested. I ignored it for months.” When examined, it wasn’t simply age – it was blocked arteries in his legs. Many people assume arterial blockages only affect the heart, but the legs often give early warning signs. Ignoring them can have serious consequences.

Early warning signs

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a condition where arteries in the arms and legs narrow due to plaque buildup, from fats, cholesterol, and other substances, reducing blood flow, according to Mayo Clinic. Detecting it early is crucial, as it allows for interventions that can sometimes prevent surgery. Here are six symptoms listed by Dr Kapadia:

Pain or cramps while walking

Cramping or aching in the legs during walking that subsides with rest is often an early warning sign of blocked arteries, according to Dr Kapadia.

Numbness or weakness

The surgeon mentions that reduced blood flow resulting from Peripheral Artery Disease can lead to numbness or weakness in the legs.

One leg feels colder

Temperature differences between legs may indicate restricted circulation, says the surgeon.

Slow-healing wounds

Cuts, blisters, or sores on the feet that take unusually long to heal can be a red flag.

Shiny skin or loss of hair

Dr Kapadia mentions that changes in skin texture, thinning hair, or a shiny appearance on the legs may suggest compromised blood flow.

Weak pulse

Dr Kapadia suggests that if you notice a reduced, or weaker pulse in the lower limbs, it may signal potential arterial blockage due to PAD.

Henry Cavill Shares Photos Of Leg Rehab: “In Enduring, Grow Strong”

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Henry Cavill seems to be on the mend – or at least in the gym – as evidenced by a series of Instagram photos posted by the star of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists Highlander reboot.

Last month, Cavill suffered a leg injury while training for the film – as first reported by Deadline – prompting a production delay on the Chad Stahelski directed reboot until after the first of the year.

In the new series of photos, which show a fit-looking Cavill’s left leg in a brace below the knee, the actor is seen working out at the gym – definitely a leg day – and, in one pic, having his ankle taped and with what could be muscle stimulators attached to his calf.

See the photos below.

The series of photos is captioned, “Endure. In enduring, grow strong,” a quote from the character Dak’kon from the video game Planescape: Torment.

On September 19, Cavill posted an Instagram pic of his leg propped up on a table with what appears to be a heavy bandage or possibly even a cast around his ankle. For that caption, he used the 1888 poem “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley (the one with “I am the master of my fate/I am the captain of my soul.”)

The upcoming Highlander movie is written by Michael Finch and also stars Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista and Max Zhang.

Can PTA’s Best CinemaScore Help ‘One Battle After Another’ Leg Out?

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

When we wrote that “One Battle After Another” was unique in Paul Thomas Anderson’s filmography, one thing we didn’t count on was that general audiences would love the movie too. “One Battle After Another” made a modest $22.4 million domestic this weekend, but it also scored an “A” CinemaScore, something that PTA simply hasn’t done in his career.

Most of PTA’s movies, because they didn’t open wide, didn’t also receive the audience exit polling that other wide releases do, but the ones that were graded were “Boogie Nights,” which got a C; “Magnolia” with a C-; and “Punch Drunk Love” with a D+. We imagine some unsuspecting Adam Sandler fans stumbled into that one. It’s also one of the better exit-polling numbers for Leonardo DiCaprio in decades, as you’d have to go all the way back to “Titanic” and its A+ to see a film that scored better. Recent titles like “Killers of the Flower Moon” got an A- and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” got a B.

Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts

It’s no guarantee, but an A is the type of thing a movie like “One Battle After Another” needs if it’s going to have any chance at long-tail success. Bringing in $22.4 million domestic, plus another $26.1 million internationally for a global total of $48.5 million, was a hair above initial projections. But with a budget of $130 million before marketing, you’d hope to see a little more if this movie is going to be in the black.

And no, dollars and cents aren’t everything, nor are Oscars, which this film should certainly get, but it does matter if Anderson or other filmmakers like him are going to keep getting ambitious and big bites at the apple, or if studios like Warner Bros. are going to continue taking risks. Warner Bros. now has eight movies to open No. 1 at the box office this year, and many of those, including “Minecraft,” “F1,” “Sinners,” and “Weapons,” are for original films, not sequels. It’s in everyone’s best interest for original ideas with big movie stars like “One Battle After Another” to do well.

So what would be a reasonable long-term expectation for “One Battle After Another”? Movies like “Weapons,” “Sinners,” and even Leo’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” all opened in the $40-48 million range, higher than “Battle,” but it could be eyeing similar multiples based on strong word of mouth. “Sinners” has had a staggering multiple of 5.8, a true sleeper hit that has defied all expectations, and the studio thinks that with the remarkable reviews “Battle” is receiving, something like that is not out of the question for this film.

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” had a domestic multiple of just shy of 3.5, as did “Weapons” this year. But a source points us to some other aggressive comps for eventual Best Picture winners like “Argo,” which opened to just $19.4 million and would do 7 times that domestically, or “The Departed,” which also stars DiCaprio, opened to $26.8 million from Warner Bros. and had about a 5 times multiple.

The best comparison might be to “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which in 2023 opened to a similar $23.2 million and had a multiple just shy of 3 to wind up at $68 million domestic. “Killers” also made more than half of its gross internationally, and “Battle” could wind up looking at similar ratios. But this film has had even better reviews, audience reaction, and is shorter, so outperforming isn’t out of the question. A multiple of 3 domestic would get it in the ballpark of $67 million, and twice that internationally could land it somewhere in the $134-140 million ballpark globally, surely a let down for a movie with as high a budget as “Battle” has. A movie like this really needs an epic word of mouth on par with “Sinners” to justify its price tag. If the movie, in Week 2,has a drop that’s under 30 percent (the drop for “Sinners” in weekend 2 was virtually non-existent), that’s a solid sign.

The good news is that “One Battle After Another” should hang on to its many premium screens for the long haul. The VistaVision showings will be active in their four current locations for about six weeks, and it should maintain the same 70mm footprint without ceding too many IMAX screens, though the re-release of “Avatar: The Way of Water” next week and “Tron: Ares” the week after could have something to say about that.

Not just that, but the movie has quickly been the source of memes on Film Twitter, and the WB marketing department is actively courting repeating viewings from celluloid-obsessed crazies by putting out a so-called punch card allowing you to check off every format you’ve managed to see the film in (we’ll skip the 4DX screening, thanks). It’s the type of movie too that, while the initial trailers didn’t do “One Battle After Another” a ton of favors in hinting at what the movie is actually about, audiences will quickly appreciate how ripped from the headlines and current the film seems once more people have actually gotten the chance to see it. You just have to have a little faith that audiences will find “One Battle After Another” eventually and that this is the type of movie we’ll still be talking about long past Oscars season.

Oasis Launches Latin American Leg of Tour With Mexico City Concert

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher reunited in Mexico after 17 years on Friday (Sept. 12), and the long wait to see Oasis live again was worth every moment — with the differences that led to their 2009 breakup behind replaced by a celebration of pure, unfiltered rock and roll.

The British band’s inaugural stop in Latin America on their highly successful Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour — which launched in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4 — drew a crowd of 65,000 fans at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, according to promoter OCESA. It was the first of two sold-out nights at the iconic venue, which witnessed a majestic two-hour performance featuring songs that have become generational anthems globally.

“¡Viva México!”, shouted frontman Liam Gallagher visibly moved, as he walked onto the stage hand in hand with his brother Noel. “It’s good to be back!”

The massive screens displayed the message “This is happening,” followed by “Mexico City,” setting the tone for an unforgettable night. Later, Liam delivered another compliment that the crowd celebrated enthusiastically: “You’re fuchsia, beautiful, heavenly and majestic.”

The setlist performed in the Latin American country stayed true to what the band has been playing in previous shows, opening with “Hello” and including tracks like “Acquiesce,” “Morning Glory,” “Some Might Say,” “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” “Supersonic,” “Stand by Me” and “Live Forever.” And closing with the powerful “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova.”

As has been the tradition during their reunion tour, Oasis was joined on stage by a cardboard cutout of Spanish soccer manager Pep Guardiola, who leads Manchester City. But here, they gave it a Mexican touch by placing a traditional charro sombrero on it.

One of the most emotional moments came during the performance of “Acquiesce,” when Noel sang the song’s chorus with heartfelt conviction: “Because we need each other, we believe in one another,” creating a feeling of hope among fans.

On the eve of the show, Oasis announced their arrival by lighting up Mexico City’s sky with a drone display that formed the band’s name. The spectacle flew over the majestic Bosque de Chapultepec, surprising locals and quickly going viral on social media.

For this leg of their tour, the Gallagher brothers were joined by guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthur, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell, and drummer Joey Waronker. The opening act for the night was the American rock band Cage the Elephant.

On Saturday (Sept. 13), Oasis is set to perform a second night in Mexico City before heading back to London for two shows at Wembley Stadium, on Sept. 27 and 28. The Latin American leg of the tour will resume on Nov. 15 in Argentina, continuing through Chile and concluding in Brazil on Nov. 22-23.

Vascular surgeon explains chest pain isn’t the only warning sign of blocked arteries: Don’t ignore leg pain or numbness | Health

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Blocked arteries can manifest in various ways beyond chest pain. A surgeon has explained that it’s crucial to recognise these signs to prevent severe complications. Dr Sumit Kapadia, a vascular surgeon and varicose vein specialist, took to Instagram on August 1 to share a post about these warning signs. Also read | Cardiologist explains 10 signs of heart disease you ignore but should not: Irregular heartbeat, swollen feet, jaw pain

Blocked arteries can cause chest pain. However, blocked arteries can also cause symptoms beyond chest pain. (Freepik)

‘Most people wait until pain becomes unbearable’

In it, he said, “After treating thousands of patients with blocked arteries, these are the things I wished more people knew before it was too late.” Dr Kapadia highlighted how blocked arteries often exhibit symptoms beyond chest pain, and it’s crucial to pay attention to these warning signs.

“Most people wait until the pain becomes unbearable. Until they can’t walk without discomfort. Until breathlessness becomes a daily struggle. Or worse… until they land in the Emergency Room,” he said.

Here are some warning signs to watch out for

He went on to share a list of things he ‘wish every person would understand early on’:

⦿ Dr Kapadia said, “Chest pain isn’t the only warning sign — pain in the legs, numbness, or discolouration can also point to artery disease.”

⦿ He added, “Family history matters — if your parents or siblings had heart or vascular issues, don’t wait for symptoms to show up.”

⦿ According to Dr Kapadia: Smoking and diabetes are a deadly combo for your blood vessels.

⦿ Dr Kapadia said, “Routine check-ups save lives. A simple Doppler scan or ABI test can detect early blockages.”

⦿ He said, “It’s not just about the heart — peripheral arteries (especially in legs) are equally important and often ignored.”

⦿ “Many patients come to us at stage 3 or 4 — when surgery is the only option. But many blockages can be prevented or reversed early,” Dr Kapadia said.

Early awareness = saved limbs, saved lives

He concluded, “Let this post be your reminder: Take that symptom seriously. Book that test. Change that habit. Because when it comes to your vascular health, early awareness = saved limbs, saved lives.”

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s essential to consult a vascular surgeon or a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment. Early detection can help prevent severe complications, such as heart attack, limb loss or stroke.
