Kim Kardashian invited to NASA launch after moon landing conspiracy claims – National

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

The U.S. space agency NASA is rejecting conspiracy claims by Kim Kardashian that the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landings did not happen.

In the most recent episode of her family’s hit reality show, The Kardashians, Kardashian says she thinks the pivotal lunar expedition was a hoax, citing a series of articles that, she claims, explain why some aspects of the footage and photographs taken on the moon are unreliable.

Shortly after the episode aired, NASA acting administrator Sean Duffy rebuked Kardashian, writing to her in a post on X, “Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!”

Yes, @KimKardashian, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!

And even better: @NASAArtemis is going back under the leadership of @POTUS.

We won the last space race and we will win this one too 🇺🇸🚀

Kardashian responded to his post, saying, “Wait…. what’s the tea on 3I Atlas?!?!!!!!!!?????,” an interstellar comet, which, according to astronomers, is the third-ever object from outside our solar system to pass through our “celestial neighbourhood.”

Duffy replied with an invitation to the launch of NASA’s Artemis mission to the moon at Kennedy Space Center.

“We love your excitement about our Artemis mission to the Moon. You’re officially invited to launch at Kennedy Space Center!” he wrote.

Great question!@NASA’s observations show that this is the third interstellar comet to pass through our solar system. No aliens. No threat to life here on Earth.

3 = the third
I = interstellar, meaning from beyond our solar system
ATLAS = discovered by our Asteroid… https://t.co/StDNRqvRCJ

Conspiracy theories that the moon landings did not take place have existed for decades, despite being consistently debunked.

In the episode, Kardashian can be seen showing actor Sarah Paulson — with whom she is co-starring in the upcoming Ryan Murphy legal drama “All’s Fair” — a quote from an interview with Buzz Aldrin, who, along with Neil Armstrong, took the first steps on the moon.

“There was no scary moment because it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t because it didn’t happen,” she reads, “he says it all the time in interviews,” she added, “maybe we should find Buzz Aldrin.”

Kardashian was referring to a comment Aldrin made during a 2015 talk at the Oxford University Students’ Union, when he responded to a student’s question about the Apollo 11 mission.

“What was the scariest moment of the journey?” the student asked.

“Scariest? It didn’t happen,” Aldrin answered, smiling. “It could’ve been scary. Circuit breaker,” he says, before the moderator asks: “The circuit breaker on the [indecipherable]?”

“I’m glad somebody helps me,” Aldrin said, before continuing. “We came back inside after kicking up dust and picking up some rocks and of course, we had to send them up the ladder because that would be hazardous, carrying a big rock box up the ladder.”

He said the crew and team had thought of that plan ahead of time, and that Aldrin got into the cabin first so that his colleagues could hand the rock box up to him.

“Then we were supposed to tidy up and tidy up means get rid of stuff you don’t need so we won’t be as heavy to lift off,” he said, describing the process of pressurizing and depressurizing the cabin and hooking up to the spacecraft system, and how crews back on the ground said they could hear the crew through the seismographer that recorded the vibrations of sounds “bouncing around on the moon.”

He then described how the crew settled back into the cabin, and noticed something in the dust of the rocks they had been collecting.

“There was something that didn’t look like it belonged there. It was a circuit breaker — a broken circuit breaker, the end of it,” he said.

“Engine arm,” Aldrin added the label on the breaker said, which was for the system used for the landing engine. “That’s the one that gets us back in orbit and gets us home.”

He then said he “used a pen to push it in,” and then called it a “piece of cake.”

Later, during a scene back in her trailer, Kardashian tells a crew member behind the camera, “I centre conspiracies all the time,” before elaborating on her disbelief, saying that no stars are visible in any of the photographic evidence captured from the landing — a popular argument from skeptics, according to the Institute of Physics.

There is a simple explanation for the lack of stars, the institute says: the photos were taken during the day.

“This meant starlight lost the battle against the very bright surface of the Moon, too dim to show up in photos,” its website says.

According to the institute, every conspiracy theory claiming that the moon landings were fake has been disproven.

Often, the expert organization argues, those who claim the landings were staged say the U.S. government faked Apollo 11 and later missions to deal a crucial blow to the USSR in the Space Race, boost NASA funding or divert attention away from the Vietnam War.

Mass MoCA Releases Malawian Roots Album to Launch Its New Label: Listen

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

A new album of Malawian roots music is the inaugural release of a new record label from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA). A collaboration with California label Hen House Studios, Mass MoCA Records released the Kasambwe Brothers’ self-titled album today, and you can hear it below.

The Kasambwe Brothers are a band of four decades, based in the Ndirande township near Malawian capital Blantyre. They found their way to a Mass MoCA residency with help from Hen House and Luc Deschamps, the director of the Jacaranda Foundation and France’s honorary consul to Malawi. Watch a documentary on the making of the album, which involves collaborators from the Massachusetts music scene, below. Clement Kammwamba is the artist behind the cover painting.

Mass MoCA Records will operate in tandem with the museum’s curatorial ethos, a press release notes, and is running as a three-year pilot. Museum director Kristy Edmunds said, “By joining forces with Hen House Studios and being able to tap into the remarkable number of music studios and intimate venues in the local area—the ingredients for a hand-made record label were all around us. I see this label as an extension of how we innovate to support the mobility of artists’ ideas and connect audiences the world over.”

Harlan Steinberger, the producer and engineer behind Hen House, added, “Though technology today can work wonders, the digital world has de-humanized us. I believe in an older-world method that emphasizes the magic of a band making music together in one room, playing off the creativity of the moment. The humanistic approach creates a deeper emotional listener experience that can not only be heard, but also felt.”

An album from Compton jazz artists Black Nile will follow in 2026, the press release notes.

Guernsey To Launch Institute of Screen Arts

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: The island of Guernsey will launch the Institute of Screen Arts Guernsey (ISAG), a newly established charity and industry body focused on expanding the island’s screen sector, in 2026.

The institute will be led by Guernsey-based professionals: Actor Cameron Ashplant (Marooned Awakening, The Last Bus), Director Brandon Ashplant (Whispers of Freedom, Bet Your Bottom Dollar), Executive Producers Stephen Ainsworth and Stephen Collas (Underground, Dare To Dream), and Production Manager Jonathan Allaway (How to Rob a Bank, The Balkans).

The ISAG has been developed in consultation with the Guernsey Government’s Committee for Economic Development. The Institute will focus on advocating for the island’s screen sector on the international stage, offering production support, location coordination, and financial assistance. The Institute’s first location and talent catalog will debut with the 2026 launch and will be designed to aid casting directors and scouts.

Guernsey has a rich artistic history. Films shot on the island include François Truffaut’s Oscar-nominated The Story of Adele H (1975), while Victor Hugo penned his seminal drama Les Misérables on the island while in exile. Despite its rich history, Guernsey remains outside the BFI’s remit. The island is a self-governing state with its own legislature, judiciary, and fiscal system. This constitutional autonomy means the island can offer filmmakers its own fiscal incentives, streamlined permits, and direct access to logistical support.

Actor Murray McArthur (The Northman, How to Train Your Dragon) will serve as the Institute’s first Honorary Patron.

adidas And Austin's Kicking It Launch New Gazelle Sneaker Collab

adidas And Austin’s Kicking It Launch New Gazelle Sneaker Collab

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

adidas Originals teamed up with an Austin, Texas sneaker hive powered by Black creatives for a fresh take on their classic Gazelle, inspired by the southern city. Naja Dorsey, creative director of Kicking It, joined forces with the sneaker brand for a first-of-its-kind collaboration and launched the Live Music Gazelle in homage to Austin’s reputation as the “Live Music Capital of the World” and the city’s rich history and culture.

The shoe’s silhouette and design reference Austin’s rich blues culture, with a suede upper dipped in five shades of blue. A red tongue and yellow Three Stripes add more color to the statement sneaker. Together, they mirror the legendary entrance of Antone’s Nightclub, where Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ray Charles, and other musical icons once performed. Finishing touches include a 512 lace charm, and Austin proudly displayed it on the back.

“I just wanted something to be funky, because Austin has that slogan, ‘Keep Austin weird.’  So, we kind of pride ourselves on that, too,” explained Dorsey to VIBE. “Being weird, being yourself, being different, standing out. Not necessarily following the trends, but setting it. I wanted to touch on that with the colors, want to touch on the story as far as the music scene, and how it is a segregated city, and how that music brought people together.”

He continued to detail, “My favorite design element would be the guitar strings on the side, being able to hold the shoe and actually feel like I’m playing a guitar with my size and ukulele. I was adamant about it, because at first, adidas maybe wanted to print it on, but I was like, ‘No, I want it embroidered so I could be able to feel it.’ The guitar pick that was stitched in was going to be printed on. I said, ‘No, let’s do some leather. Let’s stitch that on so we can have that quality.’

Another element of the collab extends Kicking It’s dedication to giving back to the community. Throughout the year, the team is responsible for food drives, giveaways, toy drives, and other community initiatives. A portion of proceeds from the Live Music Gazelle is set to fund scholarships for students at the local HBCU, Huston–Tillotson University, benefitting its jazz band and future music programming.

The Live Music Gazelle was revealed to the public with two celebratory events: an in-store gathering with hat customizations, grill and tooth gem molding, where customers were able to shop the sneakers. Following the family-friendly event, the party moved to Antone’s at night for a free community concert headlined by rising hip-hop artist J. Soulja and blues band The Keezy Experience.

The adidas x Kicking It “Live Music” Gazelle will retail for $120 and be available in limited quantities exclusively at Kicking It’s Austin store and online at kickingit.com.

“I appreciate the community that we built out here. We have been stamped like a staple here in Austin, Texas. And we have earned the trust of the community here to be like, ‘Hey, this is cool, this is hot, and they listen to us,’ reflected Dorsey. “And then when we do stuff, they do show out for us and support us. So I would say I feel loved, I feel special, and I just appreciate Austin for showing out for us.”

Take a look at the Live Music Gazelle and both events below.

Songtrust Amplified Launch Celebrates NYC’s Next Wave of Artists

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Songtrust kicked off its new Songtrust Amplified program with a bang recently, transforming SoHo’s Lightning Society into a celebration of music, creativity, and community. The October 9th event felt less like a brand launch and more like a snapshot of where independent music is headed — powered by connection, collaboration, and a shared love of the craft.

Since 2011, Songtrust — a Downtown company and global music publishing administration service — has been committed to democratizing music publishing and ensuring songwriters, whether emerging or established, receive the royalties they’ve earned. Songtrust Amplified is its newly launched rewards program designed to elevate career opportunities for music creators at every stage of their journey.

The crowd was a mix of Songtrust clients, Amplified partners, and NYC industry insiders, all there to toast the new initiative and discover some of the city’s most promising emerging artists. By the time the first set began, the room was buzzing with a blend of excitement, good vibes, and the unmistakable sense that everyone in the building was part of something special.

The night’s lineup spotlighted three rising talents already making waves beyond the local scene. TONI, a Latin pop artist whose blend of sleek choreography and powerhouse vocals instantly commanded the room, opened with high-energy renditions of her singles “AMEN” and “Hello Kitty.”

Harrison Lipton, the self-described “Michael McDonald of Bushwick,” followed with smooth, yacht-worthy material from his acclaimed new album ‘Between Us There Runs a Tether‘. For the finale, Jhariah served up a spirited, genre-defying fusion of dance-punk, R&B, and emo.

In addition to these groundbreaking performances, the success of the launch was punctuated by the interactive approaches Songtrust used to weave its new Amplified levels into every corner of the event. Guests could write postcards to their future selves, record words of encouragement for fellow artists, or take part in a video interview about their own creative journeys. Some attendees even sat for live digital portraits and left the party with personalized illustrations courtesy of Drawn Together NYC.

Each experience tied back to one of Amplified’s five tiers — Early Bird, General Admission, VIP, Backstage, and All Access — bringing the concept to life. TapCards, created by Amplified partner All Time Classic, added another interactive layer: guests could scan them to share photos, swap contacts, and unlock behind-the-scenes messages from performers.

The event also raised more than $7,500 for Backline, a nonprofit offering mental health support for musicians and industry professionals. The partnership underscored the night’s deeper message: that building a sustainable music career is as much about well-being and community as it is success.

With Songtrust Amplified, the company aims to extend that kind of thinking beyond the kick-off event — offering creators tangible rewards, partner deals, and growth tools tailored to wherever they are in their journey. The night affirmed that Songtrust’s vision for a destination “where music, community, and rewards meet” isn’t just a slogan — it’s something that’s long overdue and finally happening.

Supporting Sponsors for the event included Downtown Music, SPIN, Backline, Fire Talk, Keychange U.S., Curious Elixirs, Sound Mind and Go Brewing. Meanwhile, participating partners include All Time Classic, The Beam, CD Baby, DISCO, Downtown Artist & Label Services, found.ee, Fragment Studios, Future Present, HRDRV, Mad Records, Matchfy, Merch Cat, Merch Media, Mesa, Modern Musician, Muse, Rivet, Thematic, Squarespace Domains, and The Digilogue.

Rough Trade Below, the record store and venue tucked inside Rockefeller Center, was the spot for the launch of Pitchfork’s new zine on French pop singer Oklou. The zine is available to purchase at Rough Trade, and it complements the new cover story “Oklou’s Endless Summer.”

After everyone took their seats (or crowded in the back), complementary zines in hand, Head of Editorial Content Mano Sundaresan interviewed Oklou on stage to the crowd of 150 people. Oklou spoke about balancing life on tour with being a new mother, the power of minimalism on her breakout record, choke enough, and her online music influences. She also previewed and discussed music from the imminent deluxe edition, including her acoustic cover of “The fish song,” by hyperpop favorite underscores. The interview was recorded and will be up on Pitchfork’s YouTube channel soon.

After the interview, a long line of fans asked Oklou more questions, and then Oklou held a meet-and-greet, signing zines and records. Check out photos from the event below.

Malaika Arora Outshines Rashmika Mandanna With Her ‘Poison Baby’ Moves At The Song Launch At Thama Event

The Maddock Universe’s upcoming horror-comedy film Thama is already making waves, and the latest buzz surrounding the project involves the highly anticipated song Poison Baby. Released on Monday in a star-studded event in Mumbai, the track has quickly become the talk of the town, particularly due to the performances of Malaika Arora and Rashmika Mandanna. Malaika Arora has once again proven why she’s one of Bollywood’s most captivating performers.

Malaika Arora Showcases Her Dance Moves

At the song launch, while Poison Baby played in the background, Malaika’s electric dance moves stole the show. She dazzled on stage, effortlessly showcasing her signature style and energy. While Rashmika Mandanna stood beside her, many viewers felt she was slightly overshadowed by Malaika’s infectious presence. A video from the event has gone viral, where the two actresses are seen together on stage.

As the song progresses, Malaika is seen dancing with all her heart. Rashmika, in comparison, appears somewhat reluctant and doesn’t fully match the high energy Malaika brought to the performance, making it evident that the veteran dancer had completely owned the stage. Social media was quick to react, and Malaika’s performance has been widely praised. Fans flooded the comments section with admiration for her, with one user stating, “Age is just a number; even the best actresses would find it hard to beat her.”

Another fan commented, “This is beyond Rashmika’s control,” while one cheekily said, “Aunty ji overpowered Rashmika.” Others simply declared, “Malaika is always the best.” The song Poison Baby, which features vocals by Jasmine Sandlas, Sachin-Jigar, and Divya Kumar, has garnered mixed reactions. Some fans are completely smitten with the track, with one saying, “Malaika will eat Rashmika; she’s fire,” while others were less impressed with Rashmika’s Bollywood debut, with one comment reading, “Rashmika, you’re better off in Tollywood, don’t come to Bollywood.”

Wedotv, ZDF Studios Launch ‘Legacy’ FAST Channel

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

CANNES, France — wedotv, the global free ad-supported streaming network, is partnering with Germany’s ZDF Studios, to create and distribute a FAST channel dedicated to just one title: landmark South African drama series “Legacy.”

ZDF Studios already represents the series globally outside , bringing it to market at 2023’s Mipcom.

As many companies turn to YouTube to build IP, then approach streaming services with masses of data on the result, the single IP channel – wedotv: Legacy — now created and distributed by wedotv – shows companies approaching IP the other way round. First released in 2020 on South Africa’s M-Net, a division of MultiChoice, and now a Canal Plus company, the thriller about how a family tears itself apart in a succession battle built a huge fandom in South Africa and fame abroad. It is now leveraging digital to open up new audiences.

M-Net’s first telenovela, “Legacy” also underscores a new pathway to success – think Spain’s “The Vow” and “Sueños de Libertad” – by bringing premium production values to a novela narrative which, despite this, doesn’t hide telenovelas’ melodrama heart.

This comes with the series creators and its fictional world. “Legacy” was produced by South African powerhouse Tshedza Pictures, behind the International Emmy-nominated telenovela “The River” whose co-founders, Gwydon Beynon and Phathu Makwarela, created the series.

It is set in a world of dazzling opulence, caught by the mansion of the Price family, whose patriarch, Sebastian Price has built up Legacy Investments into a billionaire behemoth. The family mansion is a huge white marble affair replete with a pool and rose garden. The women wear stunning fashion numbers, Sebastian’s wife Dineo Price slinking down a staircase in a cleavage revealing skimpy number in its opening minutes.

Sebastian chooses and then rejects at least two successors in Ep. 1’s first 15 minutes, prompting his own murder, and a succession war as his bitter ex-wife and their unprincipled daughter Felicity will do anything to stop Dineo from shaping their playboy son into his successor. Legacy swept best telenovela and multiple other plaudits at South Africa’s 2021 SAFTA awards.

Among a large South African star-studded and notably diverse cast, the series toplines Dawid Minnaar (“Poppie Nongena”), Sean-Marco Vorster (“Warrior”) and the late Michelle Botes (“Isidingo”) who won SAFTA Golden Horns for actress and supporting actress for her performance.

The smash-hit, Award-winning series “Legacy” (104×45’) transports viewers into the high-stakes world of investment billionaires — where wealth is limitless, rivalries run deep, and family loyalty comes at a deadly price. Behind the glittering façade of the Price dynasty lies a battlefield of power, passion, and betrayal. As long-buried secrets explode and nothing and no one is safe, wedotv and ZDF Studios announced Monday at Mipcom.

“When ZDF Studios came to us with the idea of a channel dedicated to ‘Legacy,’ we wanted to make sure the key elements of a successful single IP channel were in place: quality, quantity, story, and proven audience ratings generator,” noted Philipp Rotermund, CEO of wedotv. “Legacy” has all of those key qualities in spades. It’s also incredibly compelling and binge-worthy, which helps keep viewers engaged within the platform ecosystem, which is essential for advertisers.”

“There is a real upside to creating and launching a channel like wedotv: ‘Legacy’ — It has a built-in fan base,” said Florian Streit, Director, Drama, ZDF Studios. “Single IP channels work well because they are immediately identifiable to fans. ‘Legacy’ is also a long-running series that maintains an exceptional level of quality across all episodes.”
