Kailash Kher’s new song salutes the valour of Indian forces, with spoken lines by Cabinet ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh

For Kailash Kher, music has always been about more than melody. It has been about meaning. And with his latest release Bharatiya Sena, the singer-songwriter has turned his voice towards celebrating the might of the Indian armed forces.

Kailash Kher’s recent single celebrates the might of the Indian Armed Forces

Released on Saturday, the track stands apart from most patriotic songs. Instead of focusing on sacrifice and loss, the 52-year-old chose to highlight the strength, courage, and valour of India’s military. “I didn’t want to talk about the pain or the sacrifice this time. I wanted to bring out the power and the confidence that the Indian Army embodies, something the world is noticing today,” he says.

The project, which took over three months to produce, carries weight not only because of its theme but also because of the voices featured in it. The song includes spoken lines by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, lending it an added layer of authority and resonance. A video accompanying the song brings alive the scale and spirit of the armed forces that Kailash sought to capture.

Interestingly, this was not a song born out of personal whim. The Teri Deewani singer reveals that the idea came directly from the government. “The ministry approached me and asked if I could create something that celebrates the strength of our armed forces. For me, this was both a privilege and a responsibility,” he explains.

Known for his distinctive voice and deep-rooted connection to Indian traditions, Kailash says he approached Bharatiya Sena with the same sincerity that has marked his career. “Every note had to feel authentic. I wanted it to be a song that fills people with pride, the same way a soldier’s march fills the air with power,” he says.

As the song makes its way to listeners, Kailash hopes it does more than stir patriotic fervour. “This is about respect. Respect for the men and women who stand guard, and for the spirit of India that shines through them,” he says.

Wu Lyf pull latest single ‘A New Life Is Coming’ from Spotify over CEO’s “investment in AI weaponry”

Wu Lyf have removed their latest single ‘A New Life Is Coming’ from Spotify – find out more below.

In April, Wu Lyf released ‘A New Life Is Coming’, marking their first release in 13 years. Now, just five months later, the band have pulled the song from Spotify – and other streaming platforms. While the band haven’t addressed its removal from Apple Music and other platforms, they did confirm on social media that its removal from Spotify was largely due to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s investment in AI military drone tech.

Wu Lyf wrote on Instagram over the weekend: “A few months ago we pulled ‘Go Tell Fire to the Mountain’ from streaming services, clearing ground for a new life to take root. There were several conversations that led to this decision, circling around a disdain for what the Spotify algorithm & economics has done to music culture. Since then we’ve all learned about the Spotify CEO’s investment in A.I. weaponry and seen several bands we respect make statements about removing their music.”

“Now, following some lengthy debate we’ve decided to take ‘A New Life Is Coming’ down as well. Nothing ever changes unless we have the courage to try (& perhaps fail) to do things differently. Today on worldunite.org we’re sharing an early demo of ‘Letting Go’ for LYF members. This take was recorded shortly after the initial idea emerged out of some soul making blues, and though the song has evolved somewhat since then we think it captures something special…”

With the move, Wy Lyf join King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Xiu Xiu – who also recently  announced that they are in the process of removing their music from the platform over Ek’s “investment in AI war drones” – and Deerhoof, who pulled their catalogue from the streamer for the same reason, stating: “We don’t want our music killing people. We don’t want our success being tied to AI battle tech,” Deerhoof said in a statement.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard frontman Stu Mackenzie said: “We’ve been saying fuck Spotify for years. In our circle of musician friends, that’s what people say all the time, for all of these other reasons which are well documented.” He went on to explain that while he doesn’t “really consider myself an activist, and I don’t feel comfortable soapboxing,” the band “don’t really want our music to be here, at least right now”.

In recent years, people have been divided about streaming platforms and their impact on the music industry. In 2024, for example, Ek sparked backlash for his comments relating to the cost of “creating content”, with countless users and musicians describing him as “out of touch”.

Ek later walked back on his comments, explaining in an apology that he had no intention of dismissing the struggles faced by musicians and using the “reductive” label of “content”. The negative response to this was heightened as, around the same time, it was confirmed that Spotify had made profits of over €1billion (£860m), following staff being laid off and subscription prices rising.

The streaming platform also received criticism after it officially demonetised all songs on the platform with less than 1,000 streams – making it harder for artists to generate royalties from their music and restricting new artists looking to crack the music industry.

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

by jummy84 August 31, 2025

New Delhi, Décor? Tick. Mehndi, music and mad dancing? Of course. Lavish buffet? That too. Baraatis? Yes. Bride and groom? Err… no. Not necessary at all.

Fake wedding, real fun: India’s latest party craze has no couples, just celebrations

Welcome to the new world of partying in urban India.

With the band, baaja, baraat in place, these big fat Indian ‘weddings’ are as fun as they can be – sans family fuss and an actual couple entering into matrimony. The faux wedding theme has become all the craze with the urban young and maybe not so young too grooving their way through commitment free bashes.

“It’s about letting guests dress up, dance, eat, and play the part purely for the joy of it,” said Nishant Kumar, founder of Tahia, a rooftop restaurant in Noida, who recently hosted a sold out fake wedding event.

“It’s a novel idea born out of nostalgia, drama, and a love for Indian celebrations. Weddings are one of the most vibrant expressions of culture, food, music, and emotion — but they’re also chaotic and personal. We thought: what if we gave people all the fun, drama, and indulgence of a big fat Indian wedding minus the family politics.”

The idea worked.

The ticketed events, priced between ₹1,500 and above ₹10,000, have partygoers unleashing their inner baraatis in not-wedding season.

The quirky invites and irresistible event descriptions are hard to ignore. Think lines like “Baraatis. Bass. Booze. Rishtedars Prohibited” or specialty cocktails with names like the cheeky “Shaadi Waali LIIT”.

Next, before anyone knows, girls are getting mehndi done and slipping into sequin lehengas, while boys turn up in embroidered kurtas. Strangers become friends and hit the dance floor to celebrate a wedding that’s quite literally unreal.

“There is none of the usual stress about what to wear or not wear that you’d have at a real wedding with nosy relatives around. We are just there with our friends, dancing to the beats of the dhol, enjoying the food and drinks without a care in the world,” said Natasha Ghai, a college student in her 20s.

“It felt liberating, and the wedding vibe was absolutely on point,” Gha added enthusiastically about one such fake wedding theme party she attended in Gurugram recently.

Apoorva Gupta, a Delhi-based media professional in her 30s who typically avoids social events, was surprisingly happy to accompany her friend and her friend’s mother to a relaxed, no-strings-attached wedding in south Delhi.

What drew her in wasn’t the idea of a wedding itself, but the absence of everything that usually makes such events exhausting.

“I never thought I’ll enjoy a so-called wedding event so much. I danced on wedding songs all night as if no one was watching and to be honest no one was. Everyone was too busy having their own fun. There was no pressure of small talk with distant relatives or pose for photos with bride and groom. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind attending more weddings if they were like this,” she laughed.

With numerous fake weddings held across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Goa last month, and many more lined up for this month, the future of this trend looks just as sparkly as the venues themselves.

Kumar is ready with a Plan B.

“Once this wave passes, we’re ready with the next be it shaadi afterparties, or themed nights around break-ups, rishtas, or Bollywood clichés. The core stays the same: food, fun, and fantasy. The format just keeps evolving,” he explained.

According to Sid Mathur, founder of the food consulting firm Secret Ingredient, the events also offer a prime moment for experiential dining with consumers increasingly looking for more than just good food they want stories, surprise, and something a little off-centre.

“These immersive ideas, such as a faux wedding setup, create excitement and give people a reason to step out, especially in a saturated market. While they’re not meant to replace traditional formats, they add that burst of energy and fun that can reinvigorate a brand, especially when executed well and timed right,” he explained.

And there’s no shortage of out-of-the-box trends when it comes to immersive experiences.

The Piano Man, a chain of jazz clubs across Delhi-NCR that combines great music and food, has come up with the ‘Gourmet Cinema’ concept, where classic films are screened alongside menus inspired by the movie’s setting, mood, and storyline.

It recently screened “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” along with a Spanish menu inspired by the film to reflect its setting. “Ratatouille” was accompanied by dishes actually made in the hit animation. And “The Grand Budapest Hotel” was paired with a dining experience that captured the whimsical elegance of the film.

The response, said Arjun Sagar Gupta, founder of The Piano Man, is “absolutely fantastic”.

“Every show has been sold out and it is currently scheduled to run for an extended period, with fortnightly shows at both our Eldeco Centre and Gurugram venues. In addition to our core focus, which is showcasing music and artists from around the world, we have spent the last 10 years curating a variety of experiences across performance arts, education, fine art and more,” he added.

That said, Mathur, who is also the founder of KHOYA Mithai, pointed out that these playful dining concepts aren’t the bread and butter of the trade but are certainly the delightful, unexpected jam that makes people talk.

“They’re not designed to be the backbone of your business, but they add flavour, help generate virality, and serve as powerful marketing moments. They’re fantastic tools to create buzz and attract attention, especially for newer or rebranding establishments,” he concluded.

Jay Kelly review: George Clooney’s latest is glossy and navel-gazing

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Clooney pays the titular star, just wrapping up his latest movie, a corny-looking thriller called Eight Men from Now. A multiple divorcee, he’s got two weeks before his next opus rolls, and he wants to spend it with younger daughter Daisy (Grace Edwards), only to discover she’s heading to Europe for the summer.

Then two things happen to give him pause for thought. Peter Schneider (Jim Broadbent), the director who gave him his big break as a young actor, dies. And, at the funeral, he meets Tim (Billy Crudup), an old acting class buddy.

As they catch up over a beer, it becomes clear Tim holds a grudge that Jay ‘stole’ his role at an audition way back when and they fight in the car park. The next day, and now sporting a black eye, Jay decides to ditch the new movie and fly to Paris to intercept Daisy.

And so he takes a private plane with his entourage, including long-time manager Ron (Adam Sandler) and publicist Liz (Laura Dern), as well as his hair stylist (Emily Mortimer) and other assorted hangers-on. His excuse? That he’s going to attend a career tribute in Tuscany, one he previously rejected.

Greta Gerwig as Lois Sukenick and Adam Sandler as Ron Sukenick in Jay Kelly. Netflix

The film’s central sequence, and its most amusing, sees Jay and his team on board a public train to Italy. With no first class, he has to sit with the “plebs”, as Stath Lets Flats’ Jamie Demetriou – one of the passengers – puts it. Amazed to see such a mega-star in the wild, they flock around him.

“When I see you, I see my whole life,” cries one man, delighted, like something out of Fellini’s 8½. Behind the scenes, Ron and Liz are trying to firefight an escalating situation, as Tim looks to sue Jay for the injuries he suffered in their bar fight.

Increasingly, Jay starts to reflect on his own life, especially his poor relationship with older daughter Jessica (Riley Keough). It doesn’t help when Ron’s other actor client Ben (Patrick Wilson) turns up to accept another tribute, with his lovely family in tow.

Nor when his “working stiff” father (Stacy Keach) arrives, gently berating his son where possible. By this point, though, Baumbach’s movie is starting to wallow in cliché, especially with Alba Rohrwacher’s over-the-top ‘Eye-talian’ handler.

At its best, Jay Kelly offers an understated performance from Sandler, reuniting here with Baumbach after 2017’s The Meyerowitz Stories. It’s a tender, heartfelt turn from Sandler, far removed from his comedic man-child schtick, as he plays a man who comes to realise he needs to support his own family (including his wife, played by Baumbach’s partner and Barbie co-writer Greta Gerwig), rather than devote his life to Kelly’s stardom.

As for Baumbach, this glossy first team-up with Clooney feels far removed from the edgy indies he made with Gerwig like Frances Ha and Mistress America. In some ways, it feels like a tribute to Clooney (see the concluding montage, featuring clips of Clooney in Syriana, Leatherheads, The Thin Red Line and others).

The trouble is, everyone knows Clooney’s life is not as empty as Jay Kelly’s; quite the opposite in fact. The desired effect, for us to feel for his character mid-crisis, never quite works.

How Dr. Don’s Latest Songs Trace Grief and Grace – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Dr. Don did not set out to write a song about mental health challenges. He was just following the same creative rhythm that had defined much of his recent work, the alternating fast and slow, short and long, letting his piano guide the melody before layering in bass and a synthetic violin called La Pesque. Escape Reality was meant to be a quiet counterbalance to the upbeat, radio-ready Ruled by Time, his fastest song to date.

The title came to him after dozens of failed ideas. It felt right. Simple, grounded, a little evasive. He started recording on June 21. The lyrics came on June 30.

“I thought this was turning out pretty dark,” Dr. Don shared in an email.

A Bridge Toward Something Better

The song does not flinch from sadness. It opens with lines about life and pain, about how easy it is to pretend to be okay while quietly unraveling. But then something shifts. In the bridge, the narrator regains control. The lyrics do not preach or pander. They simply point to a different ending.

“Today, luck gonna change,” he sings. “No longer my way or the highway.”

It is a turn, written into the chords as if Dr. Don knows someone needs to hear it.

His drummer, Matt, brought his own grief to the track. After losing a close friend, Matt recorded the percussion with that memory in mind. There is pain in the rhythm if you listen for it.

And there is hope, too.

Beautiful Vibes Was the Answer He Needed Next

Still, Dr. Don could not leave his listeners, let alone himself, in that emotional fog. So, he pivoted. Beautiful Vibes is the kind of song that wraps itself around you like sunlight. Upbeat, melodic, and deeply human, it opens with a simple idea: kindness is free, and it matters more than most things.

“Cost nothing to do / Think beautiful vibes / Right over to you / I send beautiful vibes,” he sings in the chorus.

Where Escape Reality lingers in the ache of uncertainty, Beautiful Vibes offers clarity: community matters, friendship heals, music lifts.

The two songs were recorded just days apart in July 2025 and released together as a kind of emotional diptych. One track for the sleepless nights. One for the mornings that still feel possible.

A Musician Who Writes the Way He Lives

There is a rawness to Dr. Don’s work that makes it hard to look away. He does not write to impress. He writes to understand. His lyrics land somewhere between journal entries and late-night confessions. The effect is intimate, like receiving a voice note from someone who actually means it when they ask how you are doing.

He has said that he cried for the first time while writing down the lyrics to the song. And yet he still finished it. Still handed it over to Matt. Still released it to the world.

Dr. Don has no need for manufactured drama. His real life is more than enough. What he offers instead is presence. With over 115,000 subscribers on YouTube and a growing catalog of genre-crossing songs, he is quietly building something rare: music that resonates because it is unguarded.

From Studio to Soul Work

Behind every piano riff and baritone hook is someone trying to make sense of life, the only way he knows how. Some days it sounds like Feeling Lazy or I’ll Listen. Lately, it sounds like Escape Reality and Beautiful Vibes—two songs that could not be more different; released together because that is how emotions actually work.

One minute, you are struggling with mental health challenges. The next, you are smiling at a stranger. Life is never just one thing.

Dr. Don knows this. He does not just write about it. He lives it.

Priyanka Chahar Choudhary’s Jaw-Dropping Outfit: See Her Latest Fashion Statement | Glamsham.com

Actress Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, who has been making brave fashion statements, did it yet again, astonishing her followers with a show-stopping fashion moment. Her recent photoshoot encompasses drama, sophistication, and a dash of an edgy touch, making her a true blue fashionista.

A Statement-Making Ensemble

During her latest fashion outing, Priyanka wore a chic co-ord ensemble that gained attention. The outfit included a high-waist bottom and fitted crop top with a bold cut-out neckline. The foundation of the outfit was dark, which acted as a canvas for greenery prints and colorful bird patterns that brought an air of playfulness to the overall look. The ultimate make-or-break factor in the look was the long cape, tossed over her shoulders in a laid-back way. Styled in lighter colors with striking patterns, the cape disrupted the uniformity of the co-ord set and provided a splash of color as well as drama.

Accessories That Speak Volumes

The actress rounded out her look with quirky silver accents. She wore a daring silver choker and several statement rings, giving the overall look a boho-chic feel. But it was her space-age sunglasses that were the real showstopper—giving the look a modern, boss-lady vibe and affirming her avant-garde sensibility when it comes to style.

Sassy Hairstyle and Bold Makeup

Priyanka’s hairstyle was the perfect addition of sass to her overall look. With neatly done braids and teased sections, her hair was the perfect complement to the edgy look of her clothes. Her makeup was also nothing short of stunning—highlighted eyelids, dramatic eyeliner, well-groomed brows, and a nude lip color did the whole look justice in an effortless way, leaving fans drooling.

From VJ to Television Sensation

Priyanka Chahar Choudhary started working as a video jockey in Jaipur and became popular through the popular TV serial Udaariyaan. She gained more popularity by being part of Bigg Boss 16, wherein her bold nature and confidence were applauded. Aside from Udaariyaan, she has also worked in successful shows such as Swapnodana, Dus June Ki Raat, Gathbandhan, and Ishqholics.

Personal Life under the Spotlight

Priyanka recently made headlines after being spotted vacationing in Ibiza with DJ Hershey, amid breakup rumors with her Udaariyaan co-star Ankit Gupta. While their on-screen chemistry sparked dating rumors, the two never confirmed their relationship. Speculations intensified after they unfollowed each other on Instagram. Ankit later clarified on Farah Khan’s show that he is currently single.

Aditya Roy Kapur, the go-to star for effortless charm and laid-back vibes, was seen recently walking out of an eye hospital in Mumbai on Friday, August 22. The Metro… In Dino star, who is much lauded for his boyish good looks and effortless calm, again demonstrated that he doesn’t require designer clothes or dramatic styling to turn heads. A paparazzi clip of the moment soon went viral as fans fainted over his sunny smile and humble demeanor.

Relaxed Style, Signature Flair

Wearing a loose and cozy outfit, Aditya went easy on the details but didn’t compromise on the looks. He sported an oversized black tee with white stripes on the shoulders, teamed with black shorts. Aditya Speaks About Being Complimented for How He Looks

Though Aditya Roy Kapur’s fashion and appearance tend to take center stage, the actor himself has opened up in the past about the disparity in the levels of attention he gets for his looks and his acting abilities. Talking to Hindustan Times in a recent interview, he had this to say on the subject: “If you feel people are complimenting you for something, at least they’re not speaking ill. So, it’s fine. Eventually, the work talks for itself.”

He also went on to say, “I guess I do get that [being praised for looks over talent], but I don’t try and think about that or lose too much sleep over it. Eventually, I think water finds its level, and the more work you do, you know that’ll come to the fore.”
