8 Korean Lip Products to Know in 2025, According to K-Beauty Experts

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Sure you may already have a plethora of balms, glosses, and oils taking up handbag real estate, but there’s always room for the best Korean lip products. As is for the Korean skin-care products you know and love, K-beauty lippies stand out for their innovative formulas and playful approach. “Korean brands really excel at, and experiment with, textures,” K-beauty expert and and former editor-in-chief of Allure Michelle Lee tells Vogue. “While you can certainly find glosses and tinted balms in Korea that are very similar to Western lip products, there’s a larger variety of textures and formats to play with.”

Vogue’s Favorite Korean Lip Products

Texture aside, Korean makeup puts an emphasis on lip care as well as finish, making pretty much every product a skincare-makeup hybrid. “K-Beauty lip formulas tend to blur the line between skincare and color. You’ll often find treatment-grade ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides in a tint or gloss format,” Sarah Chung Park, founder and CEO of Landing International adds. “The goal isn’t just pigment—it’s comfort, hydration, and that healthy, plumped-up look.”

And the best part? These high-performance, ingredient-rich products often come at a steal. “It wouldn’t be unusual to find a great Korean tinted lip balm for $15 that might cost $28 in a Western brand,” says Lee. Ahead, the pros weigh in on the trending lip products that Seoul’s coolest swear by—check out all their picks below.

In This Story

Best Sheer Color: Rom&nd Glasting Melting Balm

  • Why We Love It: According to Lee, Rom&nd is Seoul cool girl favorite for lip products, and Chung Park agrees. “For everyday use, this vegan tinted lip balm is so comfortable to wear and adds a beautiful sheer wash of dewy color,” says the former. She also often uses this pick as part of a lip combo, after using lip liner to “dress it up” a bit. “I’ll line lips, apply Melting Balm and blend; then top it with gloss if I want to amp up the shine.” Thanks to a blend of botanic oils, you can be assured that this pick provides superior hydration—all while leaving behind a sheer wash of color for a little oomph.
  • Key Ingredients: Microcrystalline wax, jojoba seed oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, evening primrose oil, shea butter, mango fruit extract, olive oil
  • Finish: Glossy
  • Shades: 17
  • Size: 3.5 g

Korean skincare routine: 10 steps to get glass-like glowing skin in every season

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Korean Beauty, or K-Beauty as we know it, has been taking the global skincare by storm. Known for giving users a ‘glass skin’ look, the Korean skincare routine emphasises on hydration, nourishment, and consistency rather than quick fixes. If you’ve ever wondered how Koreans maintain their glowing, youthful skin, the secret lies in their 10-step skincare routine.

Korean skincare routine

While it may seem lengthy, each step serves a purpose in transforming dull skin into a luminous masterpiece. Let’s dive into this world of self-care and discover the 10 essential steps to glass-like glow.

1. Use an oil-based cleanser that melts away impurities

The first step in the Korean skincare routine is double cleansing, beginning with an oil-based cleanser. This step removes makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum, and oil-based impurities that water alone cannot dissolve.

Massage the cleanser gently onto your skin in circular motions to lift dirt and grime. Then rinse with lukewarm water. Popular choices include cleansing balms or micellar oils infused with ingredients like green tea, rice bran, or camellia oil.

Why it matters: It ensures a clean slate without stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier, preparing it for deeper cleansing.

2. Water-based cleanser: Wash away sweat and residue

The second cleansing step in this skincare routine involves a foaming or gel cleanser to remove water-based impurities such as sweat and dirt. This ensures your pores are completely free of residue from the day.

Look for pH-balanced formulas that are gentle on the skin, avoiding harsh sulphates. Ingredients like centella asiatica, snail mucin, or tea tree extract can help soothe and purify the skin.

Why it matters: Double cleansing helps prevent breakouts and maintains skin clarity by ensuring no impurities linger.

3. Exfoliator: Polish away dead skin cells

Exfoliation is crucial but should be done only two to three times a week. This step helps remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, promoting a smoother and brighter texture. Choose between chemical exfoliants (like AHA, BHA, or PHA) for gentle resurfacing or physical exfoliants with fine particles for a mild scrub effect.

Why it matters: Regular exfoliation allows skincare products to penetrate more effectively, revealing fresh, glowing skin.

4. Toner: Balance and prep the skin

Toners in K-beauty are not harsh alcohol-based astringents, but hydrating preps that balance the skin’s pH and replenish moisture. They act as the first layer of hydration after cleansing and help the skin absorb the following products more efficiently. Use a hydrating toner with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, rose water, or bamboo extract.

Why it matters: A good toner restores balance and creates the perfect base for layering skincare.

5. Essence: The heart of Korean skincare

Essence is the soul of Korean beauty rituals. These combine the lightweight feel of a toner with the concentrated benefits of a serum. Packed with nourishing and hydrating ingredients, essences promote cell turnover and skin repair. Apply it by patting gently with your palms, not rubbing.

Why it matters: It provides deep hydration and enhances the overall glow, making skin plumper and more radiant.

6. Serum or ampoule: Target specific concerns

Serums and ampoules deliver highly concentrated active ingredients to address particular issues such as acne, pigmentation, dullness, or wrinkles. For glass-like skin, choose serums enriched with niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or snail mucin. These ingredients help brighten and smooth the complexion over time.

Why it matters: This step delivers the most potent nutrients directly into your skin cells for visible results.

7. Sheet mask – Indulge in intensive hydration

K-beauty’s iconic sheet masks are more than just a pampering treat, they are a hydration powerhouse. These single-use masks are soaked in nutrient-rich essence that penetrates deeply into the skin. Use it once a week, and leave it on for 15–20 minutes for maximum absorption.

Why it matters: Sheet masks flood the skin with moisture, leaving it supple, refreshed, and luminous.

8. Eye cream: Nourish the delicate under-eye area

The skin around the eyes is thin and prone to fine lines and puffiness. Applying a light yet nourishing eye cream keeps this area firm and hydrated. Look for ingredients like peptides, collagen, and caffeine to brighten dark circles and smooth wrinkles.

Why it matters: It prevents early signs of ageing and ensures your eyes look as radiant as the rest of your face.

9. Moisturiser: Lock in all the goodness

No skincare routine is complete without a moisturiser to seal in all the hydration and nutrients from previous steps. Choose a texture that suits your skin type, gel-based for oily skin, cream-based for dry skin, or emulsion-type for combination skin. Ingredients like ceramides, green tea, or squalene help strengthen the skin barrier.

Why it matters: Moisturiser locks everything in, ensuring long-lasting hydration and a smooth, soft finish.

10. Sunscreen: The ultimate protection

The final and most crucial step, sunscreen. Even the most luxurious skincare routine won’t matter if you skip this step. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning, even on cloudy days or when indoors. Korean sunscreens are famous for being lightweight, non-greasy, and perfect for daily wear.

Why it matters: Sunscreen prevents premature ageing, pigmentation, and sun damage, maintaining your glass-like glow for the long term.

Final Thoughts

The 10-step Korean skincare routine isn’t just about layering products, it’s a ritual of self-love and consistency. While it might seem extensive, you don’t have to do all ten steps every day. The key is to listen to your skin and adjust accordingly.

How ‘Culinary Class Wars’ Turned Korean Cultural Codes Into Global TV

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Netflix’s first Korean culinary competition series has quickly become a breakout global hit — with Taiwan ranking among its most enthusiastic markets.

The Taiwan Creative Content Fest hosted producer Eunji Kim of Studio Slam, who broke down how the series evolved from a rough idea into a fully realized format.

Before “Culinary Class Wars,” Kim and her team produced the 2020 talent show “Sing Again,” which spotlighted Korean singers who had released albums but never found mainstream recognition. That experience formed the foundational idea for their next project. “We wanted to make a competition show for chefs,” Kim said. “But our first question was: how do we stand out against long-running giants like ‘Top Chef’?”

For the team, the answer was rooted in local culture. “This is a Korean variety show. We needed a cultural symbol that speaks directly to Korean audiences,” Kim noted. In Korea, the spoon is a potent symbol of social class. That concept inspired one of the show’s defining visual cues: the split between white-spoon chefs, representing the culinary elite, and black-spoon chefs, representing lesser-known talent.

Not all participants immediately embraced the class-based format, but the creative team considered it central to the show’s DNA. From early development, they committed to the dramatic tension of a concealed classification system as the core engine of the competition. “From a production standpoint, we held firm to the show’s structure,” Kim said. “But how the chefs performed — how they presented themselves, how they marketed themselves — that was entirely improvised.”

Through careful editing and narrative shaping, the team ultimately found that cultural specificity didn’t limit the show; instead, its themes resonated widely with international viewers. Following the first season’s success, the response from the culinary community shifted dramatically. “For Season 2, many chefs who turned us down the first time actually came back to us after watching the show,” Kim revealed. “That boomerang effect proved that our approach wasn’t just creatively sound — it had real commercial value.”

From Korean cuisine and culturally rooted symbols to a competition format that speaks a universal entertainment language, “Culinary Class Wars” has achieved exceptional visibility on Netflix while pioneering a new style of reality-competition storytelling. As the series heads into a new season, global audiences are eagerly anticipating even more compelling narratives that go far beyond the kitchen.

Final US Trailer for ‘Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy’ Korean Movie

“What’s the meaning of an ending with one survivor?” Blue Fox Entertainment has unveiled their official US trailers for an epic Korean action adventure movie called Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. It’s made by the same Korean filmmaker who also made The Great Flood movie out in December later this year. Omniscient Reader is adapted from a famous web novel, written by a Korean author duo writing under the pen name “singNsong”. It was originally a big hit in Korea back in 2019. Combining epic high-stakes action with mind-bending fantasy, the movie promises to be a cinematic spectacle that will captivate both long-time fans of the webtoon & newcomers alike. When the apocalyptic world depicted in a serial novel suddenly becomes reality, ordinary Kim Dok-ja – the only person who knows how the novel ends – must set out on a treacherous journey with his companions and the novel’s omnipotent hero, Yu Jung-hyeok, to survive and save the day. Starring Ahn Hyo-seop & Lee Min-ho, along with Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, Jisoo, and Kwon Eun-seong. This looks like a big, cheesy Hollywood movie with some sketchy VFX – as they battle creatures of all sizes, malevolent forces, and more mayhem all trying to write their down destiny.

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy Trailer

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy Poster

Kim Dok-ja (Ahn Hyo-seop), an ordinary man in his 20s, is the only reader of an obscure web novel titled “Ways to Survive the Apocalypse”. Having started reading in school, after 10 years of serialization the novel’s conclusion is finally published, and Kim, not liking the ending, writes an angry letter to the author, calling it “the worst novel ever”. After sending the letter, the apocalyptic world of the novel suddenly becomes reality, and the novel’s omnipotent hero Yu Jung-hyeok (Lee Min-ho) appears before Kim. As the only person who knows how to survive in this world, Kim and his companions rescue Yu Jung-hyeok and strive to save the world by writing his own, new ending. Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, also known as 전지적 독자 시점 in Korean, is directed by Korean filmmaker Kim Byung-woo, director of the films Written, The Terror Live, Take Point, and the “Reborn” series previously, as well as the upcoming The Great Flood movie. The screenplay is written by Kim Byung-woo & Lee Jung-min; based on the web novel by singNsong (aka Sing Shong). Produced by Realties Pictures & Won Dong-yeon. Capelight & Blue Fox debut Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy direct-to-VOD in the US starting November 4th, 2025 this fall. Who’s interested?

“It may look dull… but it still does the job.” Well Go USA has debuted another new trailer for the film The Old Woman with the Knife, a Korean assassin dark thriller from filmmaker Min Kyu-dong. We already posted the first trailer months ago and it opened in select US theaters back in May – this new trailer is for the VOD release (on November 25th). An aging female assassin with a knack for taking out society’s worst encounters a young protégé eager to learn the trade – who has his own secrets. As they form a surprising & unexpected bond, the veteran killer discovers fresh purpose in her twilight years of violence and routine. Actress Lee Hye-yeong plays Hornclaw – a legendary assassin now in her 60s who specializes in “disease control,” or getting rid of “human vermin,” for over 40 years. Perhaps because she is getting older, she feels a strange compassion for the doctor who treated her. Also starring Kim Sung-cheol and Kim Mu-yeol. Another underrated, underseen action thriller that I recommend watching – it’s slick, stylish & entertaining. Most of all, Hornclaw is such a badass. Watch it just for her! Catch this film at home starting in November.

Here’s the second US trailer for Min Kyu-dong’s film The Old Woman with the Knife, from YouTube:

You can rewatch the first official trailer for The Old Woman with the Knife right here for more footage.

Aging assassin “Hornclaw” (starring Lee Hye-yeong) has seen it all, but she never expected to mentor a reckless rookie like Bullfight. As their unlikely bond deepens, cracks form in the underworld they navigate together. When Hornclaw discovers someone wants her dead, she’s thrust into a deadly game of deception. With enemies closing in and trust in short supply, survival means staying sharp—both blade and mind. The Old Woman with the Knife, also known as 파과 or Pagwa in Korean, is directed by acclaimed Korean filmmaker Min Kyu-dong, director of the movies All for Love, Antique, The Chase, The Last Blossom, All About My Wife, The Treacherous, Herstory, and The Prayer previously. The screenplay is written by Kim Dong-wan-II and Min Kyu-dong. Produced by Min Jin-soo. This initially premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and it also opens in Korea this week. Well Go USA will debut The Old Woman with the Knife in select US theaters starting May 16th, 2025 coming soon. For more info, visit their official site.

10 Best Korean Skin Care Gift Sets 2025, According to Beauty Editors

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

What our testers say: The brand’s Snail All in One Cream is a go-to for Wu. “The texture is one of my favorite things about this moisturizer: it’s slightly bouncy yet lightweight and nonsticky. It has an immediate subtle plumping effect and feels beautifully refreshing. I usually layer it over the brand’s Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence for a double dose of snail mucin (and skin that’s visibly dewy and plump),” she says.

Best for K-Beauty Beginners: Peach & Lily Glass Skin Discovery Kit

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Discovery Kit

If you or your giftee are new to the K-beauty, we highly recommend getting a taste of it with this four piece set from Peach & Lily. This starter kit comes with the Peach & Lily Gel Cleanser, Glass Refining Serum, Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream and Wild Dew Treatment Essence to soften, even out and refresh the skin. Bonus: all are in travel sizes so you can pop them into your toiletry bag.

What our testers say: Glamour’s Kilkeary always finds herself reaching for the Peach & Lily Gel Cleanser when she’s in need of a deep clean. “This pick is by far one of the best cleanses I’ve tried—it thoroughly removes every bit of makeup and gunk in my pores. It never leaves my skin feeling stripped or dry, either, and instead makes it feel soft, velvety and fresh.”

Most Popular: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Kit

Laneige is our go-to for all things lip hydration. The brand’s iconic sleeping mask is one our editors won’t go a night without— and the good news is that this set contains three mini sizes with limited edition flavors: Chocolate, Caramel and Eggnog Latte. It comes with the brand’s new glowy lip balms in Vanilla and Sweet Candy, which we like to pair with a lip liner for a glossy finish.

What our testers say:“Laneige lip mask and balms glide on so smoothly and hydrate my year-round chapped pout. I wear the lip mask overnight and wake up with lush, hydrated lips,” says Glamour commerce editor Jenifer Calle.

Best for Anti-Aging: Soko Glam 10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine Set

Soko Glam 10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine Set

We’re simply obsessed with this 10-step skin care set because it blends together some of the most well-known K-beauty brands, including CosRx ,TirTir, Abib, and more. Some standout products include the Hanskin Pore Cleansing Balm with AHAs, the Etude Moistfull Collagen Facial Toner and the Abib Jericho Rose Crème Nutrition Tube for a glassy, skin-firming complexion. We’re also a fan of the Pore Care Refining LHA Ampoule from Rovectin to help exfoliate and soften skin, and the Korean sunscreen formula as the last step in the routine.

What our testers say: One of our editor favorite antiaging products included in this set has to be the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. “I’ve used up several bottles of this essence over the years and love how it balances intense hydration with a bouncy yet lightweight formula. It’s perfect for imparting instant bounce to the dry zones of my combination skin without breaking me out or making my T-zone feel greasy,” says Wu.

Honorable Mention: Biodance Real Deep Mask Gift Set

Biodance Multi-Care Experience Kit

Biodance Multi-Care Experience Kit

Although technically not a gift set, face masks make great stocking stuffers, and any beauty lover will be happy find one Christmas morning. This popular Biodance kit comes with four masks: the original collagen one that our editors and EIC love (pink), hydro cera-nol (blue), sea kelp (green) and the brand’s latest caviar PRDN one (purple). Each mask is suitable for normal to oily, sensitive skin types and addresses skin barrier, dullness, and elasticity. It’s a great gift for your girlfriend who could use a little extra TLC during their nighttime routine.

“You have to create a new mankind… all we have is you.” Netflix has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for The Great Flood, a new disaster movie from Korea about a massive flood destroying the world. This one is premiering at the 2025 Busan Film Festival later this week, which is why this teaser has launched now. On what may be the last day on Earth, a life-or-death struggle in a flooded apartment becomes humanity’s one & only hope for survival. When a raging flood traps a researcher & her young son, a call to a crucial mission puts their escape—and the future of humanity—on the line. The Great Flood is a sci-fi disaster blockbuster film following those holding onto the last shred of hope for humanity to survive in a flooded building on the last day on Earth. Starring Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo. There’s also some kind of Artificial Intelligence subplot to this, but it’s hard to discern if that’s because they need her to store all of humanity’s data on some servers somewhere in a safe bunker. Intense! The massive waves remind me of the disaster movie 2012 – we haven’t seen anything like this in a while. I’ll be watching when it’s out later this year! Check out the footage.

Here’s the first look teaser trailer for Byung-woo Kim’s film The Great Flood, from Netflix’s YouTube:

The Great Flood Teaser Trailer

The Great Flood Teaser Poster

A great flood has hit planet Earth. Many people, including An Na (Kim Da-mi) and Hee-jo (Park Hae-soo), struggle to survive inside their apartment building, which is sinking into the water. An Na is an AI development researcher and Hee Jo belongs to a human resource security team, who is trying to save An Na from the disaster. But why is Hee Jo trying to save An Na and who is behind it? The Great Flood, also known as 대홍수 or Daehongsu, is written and directed by Korean filmmaker Byung-woo Kim, director of the movies Written, The Terror Live, Take Point, and Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy previously, and the series “Reborn” recently. Produced by Hwansang Studio Seoul. This is premiering at the 2025 Busan Film Festival in South Korea coming up this month. Netflix then debuts Byung-woo Kim’s The Great Flood movie streaming on Netflix worldwide starting December 19th, 2025 later this year. Looks scary? Who’s down?

“It’s an undeniably gripping story.” Well Go USA has revealed the full official trailer for a Korean mystery thriller film titled The Ugly, releasing later this month in select US theaters. It’s premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival next month. And also happens to be the latest feature from prolific Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, known for the films Seoul Station, Train to Busan, Peninsula, JUNG_E, Hellbound, and this year’s Revelations. Acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho trades spectacle for intimacy with a haunting tale of memory and moral ambiguity, about a son’s search for truth and a past that refuses to stay buried. “Ugly things are scorned.” Based on director Yeon’s 2018 graphic novel of the same name, the film stars Park Jeong-min, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Hyun-been, Im Seong-jae, & Han Ji-hyeon. It traces the journey of Im Young-gyu, a blind yet extraordinarily skilled seal artisan, and his son, Im Dong-hwan, as he unearths long-buried truths surrounding the mysterious death of Dong-hwan’s mother — which was kept a secret for 4 decades. This trailer hints at more of what’s going on – though they’re still keeping the big reveals a secret.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Yeon Sang-ho’s new film The Ugly, direct from YouTube:

But the shoot takes an unexpected turn when the remains of their wife and mother are discovered after forty years. As Dong-hwan uncovers long-buried family secrets, he also unravels the story of a woman whose face has been erased from collective memory and remembered solely as an “ugly monster.” The Ugly, also known as 얼굴 in Korean, is written and directed by acclaimed Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, known for sparking the global K-zombie frenzy with the films The King of Pigs, The Fake, Seoul Station, Train to Busan, Psychokinesis, Peninsula, continuing on with the films JUNG_E, Hellbound, The Bequeathed, and Revelations, plus the series “Parasyte: The Grey”. Based on director Yeon’s 2018 graphic novel of the same name. Produced by Wow Point. This is premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival.
