On a cursed journey aboard a stunning luxury yacht, Knightley’s wayward journalist gets gaslit, gets scared, and gets even — but this whodunnit otherwise feels terribly frigid.

bitchy | Keira Knightley wore Erdem to the ‘Woman in Cabin 10’ premiere: lovely or fussy?

Have you watched the trailer for Netflix’s The Woman In Cabin 10? I’m including it at the end of the post – the film looks enjoyable, a sort of thriller-on-the-sea, starring Keira Knightley. Keira has been doing more work with Netflix, and I think she enjoys the partnership, and enjoys the diversity in projects she’s being offered. When I saw the trailer for this, I was genuinely surprised that Keira is the lead – it feels like something they would have offered to Emily Blunt and like ten other actresses before they got to Keira. That’s not a slam, it’s cool to see Keira in this kind of thing. The film costars Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, Daniel Ings. Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, and David Morrissey.

Last night was the London premiere, and I’m including some photos in this post. Keira wore Erdem, an ochre-colored high-neck dress with some very beautiful floral embroidery. I love the fabric and embroidery, but I find the high neck with the frill much too fussy. I also don’t really get the double-belt situation. I dig her boots though. Bring back that style – the pretty high-feminine dress with sh-tkicker boots.

I actually love when Aussie Guy Pearce does a posh British accent and plays someone really haughty, evil and rich. He’s very good at it.

Kit Harington and Keira Knightley join Harry Potter audiobook cast

10 September 2025

Kit Harington and Keira Knightley have been cast in the new Harry Potter audiobook series.

Keira Knightley has joined the cast of the new Harry Potter audiobooks

The Game of Thrones actor and Black Doves actress are among the 10 new stars lending their voices to the Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions.

Kit will voice Professor Lockhart with Keira taking on the role of Professor Umbridge in the upcoming Pottermore Publishing and Audible project.

Game of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon and Gemma Whelan will voice Professor Lupin and Professor Sprout respectively, with Ruth Wilson joining as Bellatrix Lestrange, Ambika Mod playing Nymphadora Tonks, and Leo Woodall as Bill Weasley.

James McAvoy has also joined as Mad-Eye Moody, while Matt Berry will voice Sir Cadogan.

For the new audiobooks, Arthur Weasley will be played by Simon Pegg, whose Hot Fuzz co-star Nick Frost is portraying Rubeus Hagrid in HBO’s separate TV revival of the wizarding franchise.

Casting for a number of key roles already been confirmed for the audiobooks.

For the first three books – The Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban – Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester and Arabella Stanton will voice Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively.

Arabella has also been cast as Hermione in HBO’s reboot, alongside Dominic McLaughlin (Harry) and Alastair Stout (Ron).

For the final four audiobooks – Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows – Frankie, Max and Lester will be replaced by Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis.

Elsewhere in the Full-Cast Audio Editions, Cush Jumbo will narrate, with Hugh Laurie (Albus Dumbledore), Matthew Macfadyen (Lord Voldemort), Riz Ahmed (Professor Snape), Michelle Gomez (Professor McGonagall) and Mark Addy (Hagrid).

The cast so far is rounded off by Alex Hassell as Lucius Malfoy, Daniel Mays as Dobby, and Sara and Anvi Deshmukh as the Patil twins.

The audiobooks are separate from HBO’s series, and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner recently offered a word of warning for Dominic, Alastair and Arabella about life as a child star.

She told Flaunt magazine: “I look at the kids who are about to be in the new Harry Potter and I just want to give them a hug and say, ‘Look, it’s going to be okay but don’t go anywhere near [social media].

“’Stay friends with your home friends, keep living at home with your family, make sure your parents are your chaperones — it’s so important to have that grounding adjacent to the big, crazy stuff that you do.’”

Keira Knightley in Ruth Ware Film

Over the course of the past decade, novelist Ruth Ware has churned out a new thriller just about every year, twisty little gems that smack of Agatha Christie and give plenty of space for complicated, interesting female characters at their heart. Of course, Ware’s bestselling novels also feel ready-made for the big and small screen, so it’s only surprising that we’re just now getting the first adaptation of a Ware hit.

First out of the gate: “The Woman in Cabin 10,” starring Keira Knightley and based on Ware’s 2016 novel of the same name. While the Netflix movie will arrive later this fall, other Ware adaptations are in the offing: New Line Cinema has the rights to “In a Dark, Dark Wood,” while Entertainment One has TV rights to “The Lying Game” and Universal International Studios is developing “Zero Days” for TV as well.

But “The Woman in Cabin 10” is a fine pick for Ware’s first adaptation, and one that gets to the heart of what makes her stories so compulsively readable (and, as surely Netflix brass are betting and hoping, compulsively watchable too). Plus: rich crazy people actin’ badly on a yacht, always a bankable sub-genre.

Per Netflix, the film‘s official synopsis is as such: “While on board a luxury yacht for a travel assignment, a journalist — Lo (played by Knightley) — witnesses a passenger thrown overboard late at night, only to be told that it didn’t happen, as all passengers and crew are accounted for. Despite no one believing her, she continues to look for answers, putting her own life in danger.”

Added Ware in her own statement, “At its heart, the film is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is. Too many people know what that feels like and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”

The first trailer provides plenty of evidence of Lo’s terror: she sees a body go overboard, and oops, is promptly told by just about everyone around her that she’s nuts. Don’t say that to a woman. Don’t say that to a woman journalist.

Guy Pearce, David Ajala, Hannah Waddingham, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw also star, along with Art Malik, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, Gitte Witt, Christopher Rygh, Pippa Bennett-Warner, John MacMillan, Paul Kaye, Amanda Collin, and Lisa Loven Kongsli. Simon Stone directs from a script he cowrote with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse.

The film will start streaming on Netflix on Friday, October 10. Watch the first trailer for “The Woman in Cabin 10” below.
