Kendrick Lamar, ‘South Park’ Creators Movie Delayed Indefinitely

by jummy84 November 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Kendrick Lamar and “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t ready to unveil their mysterious live-action comedy just yet. Paramount has removed the trio’s upcoming feature from its March 20 release date, delaying the theatrical release indefinitely as the project continues to be tinkered.

““It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie,” reads a joint statement from Paramount, attributed to Stone and Parker’s production banner Park County and Lamar’s company PGLang.

More to come…

Drake Quietly Ends Partnership With Booking Agent Amid Fallout From Kendrick Lamar Feud

Drake quietly ended his relationship with the booking agent he shared with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year, according to Billboard. The move was kept largely out of public view in an effort to avoid media attention.

A source told Billboard that Drake and longtime agent Brent Smith of Wasserman Music have not worked together for most — and possibly all — of 2025. The split was linked in part to the fallout from Drake’s feud with Lamar, which escalated following the release of Drake’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 diss track, “Not Like Us.”

Drake had worked with Smith for more than a decade, beginning during Smith’s time at WME and continuing after Smith joined Wasserman Music in 2020. Smith currently serves as the company’s executive vice president and managing executive.

Billboard reports that Drake will now be represented at CAA by a team led by Daryl Eaton. Hits Daily Double first reported the news.

Drake’s departure from Wasserman follows the major success of Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour, which earned $358.6 million and sold 1.76 million tickets, making it one of the highest-grossing hip-hop tours on record, according to Billboard Boxscore. Drake is said to be preparing for his own 2026 tour with Live Nation, with whom he has a long-standing exclusive global touring agreement. The shared booking agent had been a point of interest in the industry as Drake and Lamar’s conflict intensified. Drake also sued Universal Music Group over lyrics in “Not Like Us,” claiming the statements were false and defamatory. A federal judge dismissed the case last month, and Drake’s legal team has filed an appeal.

2026 Grammy Awards nominations: Kendrick Lamar leads list of music contenders – National

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The list of nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards has been revealed, and red-hot rapper Kendrick Lamar is leading the pack.

Lamar is up for nine trophies at the February ceremony: record, song and album of the year — marking the third time he’s had simultaneous nominations in those big categories — as well as pop duo/group performance, melodic rap performance, rap song and rap album. He’s also nominated twice in the rap performance category.

The Not Like Us rapper has 22 Grammy career wins and 66 nominations in total. His album GNX is his fifth consecutive studio album to be nominated for album of the year, something no other artist has ever done. If it wins, it will be his first win in the category. And it will be only the third rap album to win the top prize, following Outkast in 2004 for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below and Lauryn Hill in 1999 for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Lamar’s nine nominations for his album GNX are part of a wave of hip-hop albums competing in the top categories, including Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia and Let God Sort Em Out from Clipse, Pusha T and Malice.

Lady Gaga, Jack Antonoff and Canadian record producer/songwriter Cirkut follow Lamar with seven nominations each.

Cirkut is up for both record and song of the year, twice — for Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra and Rosé and Bruno Mars’ APT. — as well as album of the year and best dance pop recording.

Other top nominees include Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas and Justin Bieber.

Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos is only the second time an all-Spanish language album has been nominated for the top prize. This comes three years after Bad Bunny’s release, Un Verano Sin Ti, became the first Spanish-language album to earn a nomination in the album of the year category.

This year’s nominees were announced during a video livestream with a host of talent, including Doechii, Gayle King, Karol G, Lizzo, Mumford & Sons, Sabrina Carpenter, Sam Smith, David Foster, Chappell Roan and more.

Only recordings commercially released in the U.S. between Aug. 31, 2024, through Aug. 30, 2025, were eligible for nominations.

The Grammy Awards made a change this year to the best country album category, following Beyoncé’s historic win of best album and best country album at the 2025 Grammy Awards for Cowboy Carter. The category has now been divided into two, with the creation of a best traditional country album category. The existing best country album category has been renamed best contemporary country album.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 1 live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. A host is yet to be announced.

Kendrick, Lady Gaga Top Grammy Nominee Field

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

For the second year in a row, Kendrick Lamar is the top nominee for the Grammy Awards — this time in nine categories, including Album of the Year for GNX and both Song and Record of the Year for “luther” featuring SZA. The 68th annual edition of the awards will be held Feb. 1 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS.

In Album of the Year, Lamar will compete against Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM, Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, Justin Bieber’s SWAG, Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out, Leon Thomas’ MUTT and Tyler, the Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA.

Thomas’ six nominations include Best New Artist, where he will battle Olivia Dean, sombr, Alex Warren, the Marías, Lola Young, Addison Rae and KATSEYE. Doechii earned five nods, including Record and Song of the Year for “Anxiety.” Producer Cirkut racked up seven nominations for his contributions to MAYHEM and ROSÉ & Bruno Mars’ “APT.,” which will vie for both Record and Song of the Year.

Tyler, the Creator, Clipse, SZA, producers Andrew Watt and Sounwave and rising underground rock band Turnstile all have five nominations. Bieber, Tyler Childers, Jesse Wells, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton scored four a piece.

Although he wasn’t nominated for Producer of the Year — Non Classical, a category he’s won three times previously, Jack Antonoff becomes the first producer/songwriter to ever earn nominations in Album, Song and Record the Year with two different artists in the same year (Carpenter and Lamar).

In Best Rock Album, Deftones’ private music is nominated alongside Haim’s I Quit, Linkin Park’s From Zero, Turnstile’s Never Enough and Yungblud’s Idols. Best Rock Performance nominees include Amyl and the Sniffers (“U Should Not Be Doing That”), Linkin Park (“The Emptiness Machine”), Turnstile (“NEVER ENOUGH”), Hayley Williams (“Mirtazapine”) and Yungblud (“Changes” from the Black Sabbath farewell concert in July).

Bon Iver, the Cure, Wet Leg and Williams each also received multiple nominations in the Alternative categories, with Tyler, the Creator scoring an unusual Best Alternative Music Album nod for Don’t Tap the Glass, which was released just eight months after CHROMAKOPIA.

Elsewhere, Nine Inch Nails’ TRON: Ares banger “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” leads the Best Song Written for Visual Media field, which also features the inescapable “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters and Elton John and Brandi Carlile’s documentary title track Never Too Late.

Kendrick Lamar, SZA

No Rap Songs In Billboard Hot 100
Top 40 For 1st Time Since 1990 As Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s “Luther” Exits Chart

For the first time in 35 years, the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 features zero rap songs following the exit of #KendrickLamar and #SZA’s song “Luther.”

The departure comes after #Billboard implemented a rule change that altered its retention criteria: songs must now hit certain thresholds, such as top 5 within 78 weeks or top 25 within 26 weeks, to remain on the chart. “Luther” dropped off despite finishing at No. 38, because it “failed to reach No. 25 after 26 weeks on the chart.”

The absence of rap in the Top 40 signals a shift in the genre’s commercial standing. Billboard noted this is “the latest sign of a recent dip in rap’s commercial dominance.” While rap tracks still appear lower on the chart, such as #YoungBoyNeverBrokeAgain at No. 44 and #CardiB at No. 48, none currently crack the Top 40.

Drake Files Appeal To Reopen Defamation Case Against UMG Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”

Seems like #Drake is really trying to leave his latest rap battle with something.

The Toronto native has filed an appeal to revive his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (#UMG), stemming from #KendrickLamar’s Grammy-winning diss record, Not Like Us. Originally dismissed by a judge earlier this month, the rapper’s team argues the court erred by treating the song’s allegations, including claims he is a “certified pedophile,’ as non-actionable opinion.

As reported, District Judge Jeannette Vargas said, “The fact that the Recording was made in the midst of a rap battle is essential to assessing its impact on a reasonable listener.” Judge Vargas added, “Even apparent statements of fact may assume the character of statements of opinion… when made in public debate, heated labor dispute, or other circumstances in which an audience may anticipate the use of epithets, fiery rhetoric or hyperbole.”

The appeal marks the next chapter in a contentious legal battle that began when Drake sued UMG in January 2025, alleging the label “approved, published and launched a campaign” around the song despite knowing it contained false and dangerous accusations against him.

Do you think Drake’s taking things too far, or is he right to fight this one out??

Playboi Carti Brings Out Kendrick Lamar & A$AP Rocky at L.A. Show

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Playboi Carti turned the Los Angeles stop of the Antagonist 2.0 Tour into a star-studded affair with A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar joining King Vamp on stage.

Carti and Opium crew took over Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night (Oct. 14). Rocky, who signed Carti to AWGE, invaded the stage to turn the party up while the Atlanta native performed “Long Time” from his 2018 Die Lit album.

Kendrick brought Playboi Carti out during the Atlanta stop of his Grand National Tour in April, and Carti returned the favor on Tuesday, surprising fans with a Lamar guest appearance during “GOOD CREDIT,” which sent the crowd into a frenzy.

“You know what this is/ The vamps and the boogies/ We jugg through the party,” Lamar raps in front of a sea of moshing fans and iPhone flashlights.

The Cardo-produced Music standout reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and cracked the top 10 of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Kendrick doesn’t pop out much, so it typically has to be a special occasion to catch him outside. He’s currently on a break from the Grand National Tour, which will head to Australia in December.

As for Carti, the Antagonist 2.0 Tour with Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely kicked off earlier this month, and is slated to hit Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, St. Paul, Brooklyn, Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Nashville and wrap up with a hometown performance in Atlanta in December.

On the music side, Playboi Carti has continued to tease his Baby Boi album, which remains without a release date. Back in April, DJ Swamp Izzo confirmed the project was “done.”

Judge tosses out Drake’s defamation lawsuit against label over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’

NEW YORK — A federal judge tossed out a defamation lawsuit that Drake brought against Universal Music Group on Thursday, ruling that lyrics branding the superstar as a pedophile in Kendrick Lamar’s dis track “Not Like Us” were opinion.

Judge tosses out Drake’s defamation lawsuit against label over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’

Judge Jeannette A. Vargas rejected the suit in a written opinion that began by citing “the vitriolic war of words” and saying the case arose “from perhaps the most infamous rap battle in the genre’s history.”

She said a reasonable listener could not have concluded that “Not Like Us” was conveying objective facts about Drake.

“Although the accusation that Plaintiff is a pedophile is certainly a serious one, the broader context of a heated rap battle, with incendiary language and offensive accusations hurled by both participants, would not incline the reasonable listener to believe that “Not Like Us” imparts verifiable facts about Plaintiff,” Vargas wrote.

Filed in January, the lawsuit alleged that UMG published and promoted the track even though it included false pedophilia allegations against Drake and suggested listeners should resort to vigilante justice.

The lawsuit also alleged that the track tarnished his reputation and decreased the value of his brand.

Universal Music Group, the parent record label for both artists, denied the allegations.

“From the outset, this suit was an affront to all artists and their creative expression and never should have seen the light of day,” UMG said in a statement. “We’re pleased with the court’s dismissal and look forward to continuing our work successfully promoting Drake’s music and investing in his career.”

Lamar was not named in the lawsuit.

There was no immediate response to mails sent to representatives for Drake seeking comment.

Nas Calls Kendrick Lamar “The North Star of Hip-Hop”

@the.jasmine.brand : Nas is giving Kendrick Lamar his flowers.

While reflecting on his song “Watch the Party Die,” the rap legend compared Kendrick to the “North Star,” calling him one of the brightest lights guiding hip-hop’s future.

“Kendrick is one of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen,” Nas tells Rolling Stone. “Not just a superstar — he’s like the North Star.”

Nas went on to praise Kendrick for protecting the integrity of the culture, saying that while some artists aren’t truly in it for the art, Kendrick consistently steps up to defend it.

“When we see people not here for the art, they’re damaging the future of it,” he explained. “Artists like Kendrick speak out — he reminds us where we’re lacking.”

Young Thug Criticizes Kendrick Lamar For Not Giving Him A Feature In Leaked Jail Call

Another leaked jail call (allegedly) of #YoungThug has hit the internet.

In this recording, a voice that seemingly belongs to a then-jailed, frustrated Thug takes a few shots at #KendrickLamar, saying:

“These n****s too big, like ‘I ain’t doing no features,’ why? Why wouldn’t you wanna do a feature for a superstar?” Thug appears to be talking about the release of his 2023 album, Business Is Business.

He continues: “Put somebody on! It’s okay to run your few hundred M’s up, but who’d you help, though?”

Thug then adds: “You supposed to be a n***a who blessing n****s. That’s why these n****s will never be bigger than #Drake, EVER in life. …Kendrick gotd*mn, put a n**** on….you ain’t go bless nobody?”

Naturally, the internet is having a field day with the leaked audio.

While some agree with Thug, many others are calling him out for his stance. What do you think, should Kendrick have collaborated with Thug? #TJBReacts
