Kayla Nicole brought all the heat to crafting her 2025 Halloween costume! The 33-year-old Special Forces alum dressed up as R&B singer Toni Braxton and shared a stunning video of it on her Instagram. But the costume raised a few eyebrows among Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift fans because of Kayla’s song choice for the post: “He Wasn’t Man Enough” by Toni.

“She’s an icon. She’s a legend,” Kayla captioned her Friday, October 31, video. “She’s @tonibraxton circa 2000.”

Several commenters praised the sports journalist’s costume, and a few may have added more fuel to the fire of rumors. One person commented, “Will the real showgirl step to the front!!!!!” which was seemingly a reference to Taylor’s Life of a Showgirl album. “This is too good! But also, we heard THE MESSAGE,” another social media user wrote.

“YOU CLEARED THE ROOM!!!!!!! Omg,” another commenter chimed in, before adding, “The level of petty, slayage and pure decimation needs to be studied. Omg.”

Though Kayla did not mention Travis, 36, nor Taylor, 35, in her post, she’s had to face the wrath of online trolls over her past relationship with the Chiefs tight end.

Kayla and Travis dated on and off from 2017 to 2022, and the football player started dating Taylor in 2023. He and the “Karma” pop star announced their engagement earlier this year in August.

In season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Kayla opened up about the online attacks she’s faced from some overly passionate Swifties.

“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it’s been overwhelming,” Kayla said in one episode, which premiered in January. “I’ve never experienced anything like it. … I’m a very confident person, but dealing with trolls or just hate online, I constantly feel like I’m in a state of vulnerability. I would love to be in a headspace where I’m just not affected at all. I’m doing this course because I want to remind myself that I’m capable of doing hard things.”

Kayla added that she felt “reduced to a headline to something so small as someone’s ex-girlfriend.” Nevertheless, she insisted that she “likes” Taylor and thinks she’s “very talented.”

“I just get a lot of like s**t because [Kelce] is dating such a mega superstar,” Kayla added at the time.

Who Is Alex Vesia?

Alex is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He joined the team in 2021 after playing for the Miami Marlins for a season. He made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2020.

Before making it into the big league, Alex played baseball in high school. The California native earned All-East County honors in his senior year. He went undrafted in the 2014 MLB Draft and played for California State University, East Bay.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are missing a teammate.

The day before the MLB team is set to return to the 2025 World Series to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays, they announced that their pitcher Alex Vesia is currently absent due to a private matter with his pregnant wife Kayla Vesia.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the organization wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Oct. 23. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

No further details about Alex’s absence were provided, and neither he nor his wife—who announced in April they were expecting a baby—have provided any updates of their own.

Amid the hiatus of one of their star pitchers, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts detailed how the team is attempting to pivot, given the fact that the team must submit a World Series roster by 10 a.m. ET on the day of the first game, per ESPN.

Taylor Swift may have quietly thrown shade at Travis Kelce’s ex, Kayla Nicole, after sending a copy of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, to Teyana Taylor.

The gift, which included a handwritten note from Swift, quickly fueled speculation among fans that the pop superstar’s gesture was more than just a friendly surprise.

On Tuesday (Oct. 14), Teyana, shared the gift on Instagram Stories, writing, “Thank you Tay Tay!!” alongside a photo of the box set and Swift’s note. In it, Swift wrote, “Well hi! If you’re someone who has shown love, someone I admire and ultimately someone I’d want to celebrate with as we welcome The Life of a Showgirl into the world, I hope you like the gifts and record! With love, a showgirl named Taylor Swift.”

Many fans suggested the gift was a subtle jab at Nicole, who previously pretty much admitted to dressing up as Teyana Taylor for Halloween following her split from Iman Shumpert.

In October 2024, Nicole spoke publicly about her past relationship with Teyana’s ex-husband on Angel Reese’s podcast. “We weren’t in a relationship, but … I was dating a guy,” she said. “He dumped me through a text message … for this singer/actress who was famous at the time.”

Describing herself as “devastated” and “heartbroken,” Nicole added that she had then dressed up as the same singer/actress for Halloween. Nicole’s costume was a recreation of Teyana’s outfit in Kanye West’s “Fade” music video.

The petty, but spot-on moment, prompted a response from Teyana at the time, who called the stunt “distasteful & uncalled for” and noted that it seemed calculated to draw attention.

“She knew exactly what she was doing. That lady said, ‘She was famous at the time,’ also said, ‘idc who see it,’ it was very distasteful and uncalled for,” Teyana wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. “Dressing up like me for what?? Crazy part about it all is, I actually showed love under her pic when she posted it! Like I did the other 3736262626 people that dressed up as me for Halloween.”

Meanwhile, Kelce and Swift are currently engaged after two years of dating, which they announced in August. Teyana Taylor has moved on as well and is currently dating actor Aaron Pierre.

Nicole shared pictures of herself in a brown silk dress with her hair styled in a curly bob. The podcast host wrote, “What an honor to share a table with some of the most iconic ‘girlfriends’ of all time.”

She added, “Women whose art has been a mirror and a reminder of what’s possible at every stage of my womanhood.”

Elsewhere on her Instagram Story, Kayla Nicole also shared a clip from an interview featuring Tyra Banks and Eva Marcille from America’s Next Top Model. In the reel, Banks asks the latter, “How do you compare yourself to the other girls out there?”

Marcille then replies, “I don’t compare myself to other girls. I’m Eva. I’m no comparison to anyone else.”

Soon, this caught the attention of the fans, who wondered if the cryptic posts were befitting replies to Taylor Swift’s diss track, Opalite.

In the interviews following the release of the song, the pop sensation revealed that the diss track was about the NFL star. The artist goes on to sing, “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose.”

According to Page Six, the “she was in her phone” line in the song seemed to be a jab at Nicole, in connection to Kelce publicly slamming his former partner for being a little too much on the phone when they dated.

Following his split from Kayla Nicole, Travis Kelce went on to get together with Taylor Swift. The duo first met in July 2023 after one of the Eras Tour concerts. Kayla Nicole got her entire life this week as a guest on the Breezy Bowl stage, becoming Chris Brown‘s chosen paramour during his performance of crowd-favorite slow jam, “Take You Down.”

While Brown, 36, has invited plenty of women on-stage for the performance throughout the tour, Nicole’s appearance at his Los Angeles stop has become a hot topic, thanks in part to her past relationship with football star Travis Kelce, who is currently engaged to pop superstar Taylor Swift. Nicole, 33, has since taken to Instagram to share her experience with followers, posting a clip of her night out at Breezy Bowl alongside a lengthy caption.

As mentioned, ‘Breezy Bowl’ stopped in Los Angeles, and Kayla Nicole and her people popped out for the vibes. It’s unclear whether the moment was pre-planned with an invite from Breezy. But, once on stage in a red chair, Chris Brown didn’t let the 18-year difference show in his ‘Take You Down’ moves. Videos show him pressing her back against the chair, coming down to grind against her pelvic and private areas several times. Things got more steamy when the 36-year-old lightly grabbed her neck and leaned in for what looked like a kiss, before the stage went dark. Nicole didn’t hold back either, moving her hips to meet his and holding his spicy gaze!  And the crowd? Screaming over the 2007 hit song!

Even Kayla denied the report by taking to X (previously Twitter) by writing, “Not sure where y’all got this nonsense from, but it’s absurd and very false.”

What Have Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole Said About Their Relationship? 

When they were together, Kayla revealed how she and Travis first met, according to a screenshot from her Instagram Stories obtained by TMZ. 

“He had been following me and Insta-flirting for a few months,” she revealed in a since-deleted Instagram Story captured by TMZ. “All double taps and no dm. Soooo after a little liquid courage and a pep talk from @iqueenb (something along the lines of ‘WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR’) I dm’d him on New Years [sic],” Kayla explained. 

Travis followed up on his then-girlfriend’s explanation of their meet-cute during his 2022 interview with E! News. 

“I didn’t just go through every single pic and just start ‘liking’ it immediately,” the Chiefs team member noted. “It was over the course of a month’s span, just following her and ‘liking’ the pictures that she was posting and watching all of her Stories when Stories had first started coming out. I was just stalking her, and then, finally on New Year’s, she gave in. And, you know, New Year, new me. She just shot her shot, jumped in my DMs, and the rest is history.”

Has Kayla Addressed Travis’ Romance With Taylor Swift? 

Kayla has not publicly addressed her ex’s newfound romance with Taylor Swift, but her open letter to Black women garnered attention from fans. Though she never mentioned Travis in the letter, the on-air sports journalist talked about Black women being called “a traitor for falling in love” and the ongoing “backlash and embarrassment” they receive. 

“You’ll hope the ones closest will protect you, but you will quickly find out that people don’t protect what they don’t value,” she said. “They’ll say you’re too much … and in the same breath tell you that you’re not enough. Not successful enough, not wholesome enough, maybe not even intelligent enough. They’ll say you deserve the backlash and embarrassment. Because of your blackness, you should have known better. They’ll even try to tie your value to your net worth.”

In January 2025, Kayla appeared on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and she owned up about her public split from Travis. At one point in a season 3 episode, Kayla complimented Taylor by telling other recruits on the show, “I really like, like, her. I think she’s very talented.”

However, the cruel comments she’s received online made her life difficult, Kayla told the directing staff members.

“Yeah it’s pretty consistent [and] exhausting,” she explained. “It doesn’t matter — I could post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation. It’s inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person.”
