After Bollywood photographer Varinder Chawla expressed his strong disapproval of filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap’s recent allegations against actor Salman Khan, Television and film producer Ektaa Kapoor has also come out in support of the superstar. In a social media post, Chawla criticised Kashyap for making what he perceives as baseless accusations aimed at grabbing attention.

Ektaa Kapoor Raises Concern Against Abhinav Kashyap’s Bullying Behaviour

Chawla stated, “Recently, I came across a podcast where Abhinav was bashing Salman, seemingly just to grab attention and create controversy. As someone who’s been a part of the industry for so long, I found this completely disgusting. If there were genuine issues, why wait so long to speak up? This kind of behavior feels opportunistic and completely unfair, using someone else’s reputation for personal gain.”

Criminal Playing A Hero? Abhinav Kashyap’s Explosive Comments On Salman Khan! | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

The old rivalry between Salman Khan and director Abhinav Kashyap has resurfaced with a new series of comments from both parties. Abhinav, whose claim to fame is working on the 2010 blockbuster Dabangg, took another scathing jibe at the Bollywood mega star, dubbing him a “criminal” in an interview recently.

Talking to Bollywood Thikana, 51-year-old director Abhinav bashed Salman’s new movie Battle of Galwan, in which the actor will essay the role of a soldier. Abhinav bluntly stated, “A criminal like him will play a soldier?” pointing towards the numerous legal cases Salman has been facing all these years. He also added that it is not Salman who gets most hurt by his words but his fans.

Kashyap then went on to claim that Salman’s real problem with him stems from the fact that he could never be “bought.” He stated, “That’s what bothers him. His money is useless here. I’m not for sale,” making it clear that he sees his criticism as a matter of principle rather than personal vendetta. “I speak only from truth, not hate,” he added.

Salman didn’t stay absolutely silent in response. On Weekend Ka Vaar of Bigg Boss 19, the actor seemed to make a veiled but sharp comment about Abhinav without naming him. “There’s one more Dabangg guy who’s taking jibes at me and Aamir Khan as well. I just want to ask, you got any work, brother?” he smiled, eliciting laughter from viewers.

Salman subsequently went on to suggest that Abhinav had ruined his own career by always berating everyone else in the industry instead of attending to his art. “Attend to your family,” he counseled, implying that bitterness will get you nowhere. He finished up on a religious note: “You want to bring me on my knees, but I do that every day for God.”

This conflict is not new. The conflict between Salman Khan and Abhinav Kashyap started in 2010, when Abhinav accused Salman and his brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, of hijacking Dabangg and pushing him out of his own project. Ever since, Kashyap has incessantly accused the Khan family of attempting to destroy his career and of employing their clout to stifle his prospects in the industry.

With this recent trade, it’s evident the controversy between the director and the star is still far from over, again dragging their buried feud to the forefront.

‘This Industry Can Never Be United’: Anurag Kashyap’s Unfiltered Take On Bollywood

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has once again sparked debate with his characteristically unfiltered take on the Bollywood industry. While promoting his new film, Nishaanchi, Kashyap didn’t hold back, criticizing what he calls the “toxicity” within the fraternity and its persistent lack of unity. The director, known for his no-nonsense attitude, pointed out that industry members rarely stand up for each other, creating a fragmented and insecure environment. His comments offer a stark look at the underlying issues many believe plague Hindi cinema today, from its insular nature to its evolving relationship with technology.

Speaking to Zoom, Kashyap expressed his frustration with the industry’s disunity. “People who know me tell me, ‘You stand for everyone, who stands for you?’ I can say this very confidently that this industry can never be united,” he said. He believes this lack of solidarity prevents meaningful change and makes it difficult for new voices to emerge. As a director who has often championed independent cinema and new talent, Kashyap’s frustration stems from a long history of observing these dynamics firsthand. He argues that true creators don’t rely on industry circles; they simply focus on their craft.

To make his point, he cited the success of filmmakers Shoojit Sircar and Dibakar Banerjee, who work outside Mumbai. “Shoojit Sircar resides in Kolkata. Dibakar Banerjee is based in Himachal. Yet, they continue to create films,” he said. Calling himself a “secure filmmaker,” Kashyap emphasized that he focuses on storytelling and creativity rather than engaging in industry politics. This mindset, he suggests, is the key to longevity and authenticity in a business that often demands conformity.

Anurag Kashyap About AI In Cinema

Beyond Bollywood’s internal issues, Kashyap also weighed in on one of the most pressing topics in the global film industry: the rise of Artificial Intelligence. He strongly opposed the AI-generated film Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, produced by Vijay Subramaniam, calling it a betrayal of human creators. For Kashyap, while the use of AI in filmmaking may be inevitable, its application should be ethical and not at the expense of artists. “People will make films using AI, but when you represent a roster of artists and then do AI, that’s unethical for me,” he said, drawing a clear line between technological innovation and what he sees as a moral compromise.

Kashyap’s criticism extended to producers who back such ventures, as well as artists who support them, labeling them “spineless and cowardly.” He believes that a true artist should protect the sanctity of creativity and not endorse a technology that could potentially render human talent obsolete. Despite his concerns, Kashyap believes a reckoning is near. He predicted that “all the actors will unite the day AI replaces them,” emphasizing that technology should serve creativity, not replace it.

His film Nishaanchi, a gangster drama set in the heartland, delves into themes of family, love, and crime. It marks a significant project for its lead actor, Aaishvary Thackeray, who stars in a double role. The film also features a talented ensemble cast, including Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. The film, released on September 19, explores complex human relationships against the backdrop of a gritty criminal world, showcasing Kashyap’s signature style of blending raw realism with compelling character-driven narratives.

Piyush Mishra Criticises Anurag Kashyap’s Filmmaking In Gulaal, Dev D

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Piyush Mishra has criticised Anurag Kashyap for “ruining the second halves” of films like Dev D and Gulaal, claiming that the director tends to lose grip after strong beginnings. The writer, lyricist, and actor spoke candidly during a discussion he attended by Manoj Bajpayee, producer Ranjan Singh, director Raam Reddy, and Anurag Kashyap himself.

Piyush Mishra Criticises Anurag Kashyap For Ruining Second Halves Of His Films

When asked if he revisits some of Kashyap’s most acclaimed films, Mishra didn’t hold back. On the Humans of Cinema YouTube channel, Mishra said bluntly, “Gulaal toh… maaf karna Anurag. Par uska second half pata nahi kya tha. Iski dikkat yeh hai ki woh apni adhi film achhi bana leta hai, phir lagta hai ki bohot badiya film ban rahi hai, aur phir usse bigaad kar dekhta hai. Second half bigaad deta hai. Gulaal achhi film ban rahi thi, par isne uska bohot bigaad kiya.”

He also extended his critique to Dev D, noting that its highly praised opening lost momentum midway: “The first half was a classic, and then he ruined it.”

At this point, Manoj Bajpayee chimed in with a humorous remark that Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s quirky cameo in the song Emotional Attyachar ‘saved the second half. Mishra further included Gangs of Wasseypur in his criticism, saying, “I don’t know what his problem is. Gangs of Wasseypur had the same issue; he made the first part, then he lost his mind. I thought Dev D would be a film on alcoholism, and then it became something strange.”

Anurag Kashyap Moves On with Nishaanchi

While Mishra’s comments drew laughter from the panel, they also reflected a recurring criticism of Kashyap’s storytelling—his tendency to start strong but lose focus in the latter half. However, the filmmaker has little time to dwell on these remarks. He is now preparing for the release of Nishaanchi, a crime drama marking Aaishvary Thackeray’s acting debut, alongside Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. The film is scheduled for release on September 19.

Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee was recently seen Jugnuma – The Fable, Raam Reddy’s new film that hit theatres on September 12.

Anurag Kashyap’s Nickname Rinku Creates Hilarious Confusion on Nishaanchi’s Sets

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Anurag Kashyap is gearing up for the release of his new film, Nishaanchi. The trailer, packed with action, drama and comedy, has set the stage abuzz. It offers a glimpse into a high-octane narrative filled with power-packed sequences and sharp humour. Staying true to the unmistakable style of Anurag Kashyap’s filmmaking, the film also introduces Aaishvary Thackeray in a striking debut. But did you know there’s a fun fact about the filmmaker’s nickname that also finds a reference in the film?

Anurag Kashyap’s nickname is Rinku, and coincidentally, Vedika Pinto’s character in the film is also named Rinku. It’s quite interesting to see how this real-life name has been adapted into the story. In fact, every time someone called out “Rinku” on set, both Anurag Kashyap and Vedika would turn, leaving the team in splits.

In the film, Aaishvary Thackeray plays a double role of twin brothers, Babloo and Dabloo, while Vedika Pinto plays Rinku. The story revolves around Babloo’s deep affection for Rinku, which is disrupted by Dabloo’s arrival. The Gangs of Wasseypur director expressed that creating Nishaanchi gave him a sense of returning to his cinematic roots, allowing him to reconnect with the raw, unfiltered style of storytelling that defined his early work. He also called it his ‘full-on-Salim-Javed zone of film’.

Anurag Kashyap

Besides Aaishvary Thackeray and Vedika Pinto, the film also stars Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Kashyap said, “Nishaanchi is my full-on Salim-Javed zone of film; it has the hero, the drama, and the payoff a film must deliver. I spent 69 days on it, and it’s my longest and most elaborate shoot yet. Initially, the title was Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangilee Rinku, and Dabloo — everyone said it was too long. The story of how Nishaanchi was coined, and the film was finally named.”

Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah slams audience for ignoring ‘good cinema’ like Nishaanchi, Dhadak 2: ‘So frustrating’ | Bollywood

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap released the trailer of his upcoming film Nishaanchi, which introduces Aaishvary Thackeray in his debut role, on Thursday. The director’s daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap, took to social media to share her frustrations about people wanting ‘good cinema’ but refusing to support such films when they release in theatres. Here’s what she said. (Also Read: Nishaanchi trailer out: Aaishvary Thackeray shines in double role in Anurag Kashyap’s quintessential masala film. Watch)

Aaliyah Kashyap penned a long note on her Instagram stories, drumming up support for her dad Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film.

Aaliyah Kashyap calls out people for not supporting ‘good cinema’

Aaliyah took to her Instagram stories to call out people who want ‘good cinema’ and yet rarely support films like Nishaanchi and Dhadak 2 when they run in theatres. She wrote, “It’s honestly so frustrating to see people CONSTANTLY say they want ‘good cinema’ but when good films actually release, hardly anyone goes to the theatre. This has been seen with so many films recently like Dhadak 2. And then years later they suddenly become cult classics or hidden gems.”

Adding that she would appreciate it if people watched Nishaanchi in theatres on 19 September, she wrote, “My dad @anuragkashyap 10 new film Nishaanchi comes out on September 19th, and I’ve seen firsthand the amount of love, work, and heart everyone involved has poured into it. If we really want good, impactful and meaningful cinema, we can’t just appreciate it in hindsight. Great cinema doesn’t get better with time, it deserves to be seen NOW.”

Aaliyah Kashyap urged the audience to watch Nishaanchi in theatres.

On critically acclaimed Bollywood films struggles

In another Instagram story, Aaliyah reflected how, unfortunately, this was nothing new for the audience as films like Lunchbox and October had struggled at the box office. “And honestly this isn’t something that’s new or just happening now. Some of the most amazing and critically acclaimed Bollywood films (Udaan, Lootera, Lunchbox, Masaan, October etc.) struggled at the box office when they were released. They don’t get that support when it actually matters and when audiences don’t show up, it makes it that much harder for more films like that to get made,” she wrote.

Aaliyah Kashyap wrote of how films like Udaan and Lootera didn't do well at the box office.

Nishaanchi trailer out: Aaishvary Thackeray shines in double role in Anurag Kashyap’s quintessential masala film. Watch | Bollywood

The makers of Nishaanchi have dropped the trailer, and it looks like a full-blown Bollywood masala. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film blends action, comedy, romance, betrayal, and good old-fashioned ‘maa ka pyaar’ into its cinematic experience and marks the Bollywood debut of Aaishvary Thackeray, grandson of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackrey.

Set in early 2000s Uttar Pradesh, Nishaanchi blends action, comedy, and romance, with a nostalgic soundtrack. The film releases on September 19.

What’s in the trailer

Front and centre is Aaishvary, making his debut in a double role as twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo, who are mirror images in looks but worlds apart in their values. Set in the gritty gullies of small-town Uttar Pradesh in the early 2000s, Nishaanchi follows their tangled lives as they collide in a storm of rebellion, family drama, and personal transformation.

The trailer gives you an adrenaline rush with high-speed chases, charged confrontations, and tender moments of love and longing. With its interesting soundtrack, it throws back to the nostalgia of early 2000s cinema. Anurag calls it his most cinematic film. “Nishaanchi is my most cinematic film with a classic story at its centre… emotion, betrayal, action — everything I grew up loving in Hindi films,” he said.

“Playing twins who are complete opposites challenged me in every way—emotionally, physically, and as an actor. At the same time, contributing to the music of the film was just as special. For me, acting and music are like Babloo and Dabloo—two distinct parts of my personality that balance and complete each other. I’m nervous, but also excited, to finally share this world with everyone. With Anurag sir guiding me through the journey, I discovered something new in every scene, every note,” said Aaishvary.

About Nishaanchi

Presented by Amazon MGM Studios India and produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh (Jar Pictures and Flip Films), the film also stars Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Anurag, Prasoon Mishra, and Ranjan Chandel co-wrote the story, and it’s set to hit theatres on September 19.
