bitchy | King Juan Carlos: Queen Letizia ‘did not help to strengthen our family ties’

written by jummy84

Spain’s King Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014, and then he went into self-imposed exile in 2020 because his house of cards was collapsing in slow-motion. Juan Carlos is a shady man who used his position to enrich himself to a crazy degree. He also kept mistresses littered around Europe. Even before his exile, he was already straining relations within his family, especially with his son, the current King Felipe. Felipe is married to Queen Letizia, and let me tell you, Felipe’s parents have always hated Letizia. In 2018, there was an international incident involving Queen Sofia bitching out her daughter-in-law in church, and it was over Letizia’s daughters. Well, now Juan Carlos is trying to make some money, or maybe he’s just trying to settle some old scores. He’s written a memoir. Previously, we talked about his awful comments about “cold, taciturn” Princess Diana. Well, here’s what he has to say about Letizia:

King Juan Carlos, the former monarch of Spain, is telling all in his new memoir, Reconciliation.

Juan Carlos, 87, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the United Arab Emirates for the last five years after abdicating the throne in 2014, opens up his reign and his relationships in the forthcoming book, set to be published in France on Nov. 5.

In an excerpt shared by Spanish publication El Confidencial on Wednesday, Oct. 29, the former King has some harsh words for his daughter-in-law, the current Queen Letizia. Translated into English, Juan Carlos admits there is “personal disagreement” between him and the wife of his son and successor, King Felipe.

“She did not help to strengthen our family ties,” he adds of Queen Letizia.

The statement marks the first time the former King has confirmed long-standing rumors of a rift within the Spanish royal family.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia married on May 22, 2004. They share two daughters, Princess Leonor, 19, and Princess Sofia, 18. While the Queen was something of a controversial choice for the bride of a future king, as she had been married before and grew up working class, the royal rift likely stems from a more complicated history with the family.

[From People]

There’s another translation going around: “She did not contribute to the cohesion of our family relationships.” There’s nothing quite like being lectured on family values and the sanctity of marriage by a serial adulterer whose conduct was so audacious, he had to abdicate and leave the country before he was sent to prison for bribery and tax fraud! I know Letizia isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve always felt such a pang of sympathy for her specifically because of how her in-laws have always treated her. Sofia and Juan Carlos have always been terrible to her, openly and in full view. I think some of it is “disappointment” that Letizia wasn’t some dishrag that they could walk all over, nor was she the picture-perfect obedient wife. Letizia did things her way, she modernized the role of queen, she was and is a vocal supporter of working women, journalists, artists, and more. Her daughters seem like wonderful, intelligent, driven young women too. Anyway, Juan Carlos is a pig.

Rapper Hoodrich Pablo Juan Released From Georgia Prison After Serving Time on RICO Charge

Hoodrich Pablo Juan is officially a free man.

The Georgia rapper, born Sterling Leroy Pennix Jr., was released from a Georgia state prison on Oct. 19, where he had been serving time for violating the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Footage shared online shows the rapper smiling and embracing supporters shortly after his release.

Back in 2022, Hoodrich Pablo Juan accepted a plea deal that resulted in a 15-year sentence, with five years to serve and the remaining time under strict probation. He was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.

The artist was initially among 46 alleged co-conspirators indicted in October 2020 on sweeping gang-related charges. The group collectively faced 92 RICO counts, 59 gang-terrorism violations, multiple drug-trafficking charges, and several counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and murder.

According to prosecutors, Juan was accused of being affiliated with the Rollin’ 20s Neighborhood Bloods. Under the terms of his probation, he is prohibited from associating with any gang members or possessing weapons.

While incarcerated, Juan continued to voice support for fellow rapper Young Thug, who remains entangled in his own YSL RICO case. In a 2023 message from prison, he said:

“We do this sht for the hood, we from the hood, we still in the hood. Y’all know what the f** going on. Free Slime, man. Keep all the rats, free all the real n*s. Y’all know what the f going on man, we never letting up.” No further details about his release have been shared.

Juan Gabriel ‘I Must, I Can, I Will’ Docu-Series Shares First Trailer

by jummy84 October 13, 2025

He’s inspired the fashion of Harry Styles, admired by Omar Apollo, and celebrated as one of the greatest songwriters to ever come out of Mexico. Now, Juan Gabriel will take centerstage — and narrate his own story — in a new Netflix documentary titled I Must, I Can, I Will, which debuted its first trailer on Monday.

“When you leave, what remains here is what you gave,” declares the late Gabriel in the trailer for the series, slated for Oct. 30. “I wish I could be young again, but to remember is to live again.”

The short preview of the series, directed by María José Cuevas, teases El Divo de Juarez‘s rise to fame and how he shattered stereotypes about ranchera singers, his complicated relationship with fame, learning to make “loneliness [his] friend,” and his experience as a father. The series will also highlight his iconic performance at Bellas Artes in Mexico City, now celebrated but which was severely criticized at the time for bringing pop culture into a space meant for high art.

Trending Stories

“Over more than four decades, Juan Gabriel recorded his most intimate moments, capturing both Mexico’s musical idol on stage and Alberto Aguilera, the man behind the scenes,” reads the series synopsis, teasing “rare videos and exclusive interviews” showcasing the behind-the-scenes life of the singer-songwriter.

Gabriel, Mexico’s bestselling artist of all time, died of natural causes in 2016 at his home in Santa Monica. He was known for iconic songs such as “No Tengo Dinero,” “El Noa Noa,” “Así Fue,” “Hasta Que Te Conocí,” and “Querida.” He also wrote numerous hits for other artists, including Rocío Dúrcal’s “Amor Eterno.”

Endless Summer: A Dispatch From Bad Bunny’s San Juan Residency

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Home is a feeling. Home can be a mountain, an island, a stranger’s home where you’re welcomed like family.

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, decided he’s homebound for the summer. During prime festival and touring season, the megastar—whose latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos (I Should Have Taken More Photos) hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, his fourth album to do so—leveraged his celebrity to manifest one of the underlying purposes of his art. After spending years bringing Puerto Rico to the world, his homegrown show at San Juan’s famous Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (El Choli, if you’re local) was designed to bring the world to the island.

Aptly named No me quiero ir de aqui (I Don’t Want To Leave), Bad Bunny’s completely sold-out summer residency is an unabashed love letter to Puerto Rico. Entering the arena, the floor is flanked by two stages: a mountain that feels uprooted straight out of El Yunque National Forest, vaguely shaped like a cemí (a Taíno nature spirit), and a pink casita whose interior doubles as a VIP area. Anyone who sees the small house up-close can attest to the fact that the little house is authentic Caribbean architecture, the kind of space that could belong to any tía out in Fajardo or Ponce or Bayamón.

The spectacle opens theatrically: At center stage, a woman searches for a camera. At the same time, a man finds a blanket covering drums used for plena, a traditional Puerto Rican genre. Slowly, out of the mountain, dancers emerge donning traditional jíbaro garb worn in Boricua folk tradition, some complete with pava straw hats (an unofficial symbol of this era that doubles as a show of Puerto Rican pride). The man of the hour subtly appears stage-left, kicking off the night with new song “ALAMBRE PúA”.

No me quiero ir de aquí is split into three of the island’s key genres: plena, perreo, and salsa. Bad Bunny adapted his songs to each, plena drums replacing the dembow rattle on beloved hits like “La Santa” (originally recorded with Daddy Yankee) and “Vete.” When he appeared at la casita for the reggaeton-heavy section of the night—which included YHLQMDLG-era opus “Safaera” (recorded in 2020 with Jowell & Randy, and Ñengo Flow) and Un Verano Sin Tí’s “Titi Me Preguntó”—he comfortably waltzed between the roof and the front porch. His transition back to the mountain was soundtracked by local plena collective Pleneros de la Cresta, who thanked the audience after a lively jam out to “CAFé CON RON”: “Thank you for getting the world to hear plena puertorriqueña!”

One of the residency’s biggest draws is the rotating cast of guests. For its 19th iteration,  Lorén Aldarondo Torres of Puerto Rican indie band Chuwi sang her “Weltita” verse from the mountaintop. Later, when the casita was transformed into a party de marquesina like the ones where reggaeton was born, the soundtrack was none other than Ivy Queen herself. The undisputed Queen of Reggaeton held court over the stadium from the casita’s entrance with a medley of her hits, snarling signature song “Quiero Bailar” like it was the last time she’d sing it. Before going back to the mountains, Bad Bunny tried bending the audience to his will again, encouraging everyone to turn off their phones and be in the moment. Most of the arena followed suit, and the audience presence was palpable.

Before switching to salsa, a video about the genre’s African roots was played, and Benito emerged in a suit. Backed by Los Sobrinos, he reinterpreted “Callaíta” with timbaleros and bongos. If he wasn’t already, Bad Bunny was fully in control of the audience for “Baile Inolvidable”, the salsa standout from this era. Arguably the show’s biggest moment after his sobering rendition of “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii” right before, it was a tremendous show of artistic growth, one where Bad Bunny channeled salsa legends like Héctor Lavoe and Willie Colón while remaining more himself than we’ve ever seen him.

It wasn’t until the end that I realized three hours had flown by. I was ready for more, almost disappointed that there wasn’t. That feeling was a shock: A big-budget arena show can often drag. Bad Bunny’s generosity as a performer is on full display from the moment you approach El Choli to the second you leave, an eternal moment frozen in the endless summer of the Caribbean heat. It’s something that can only exist here, something Bad Bunny did well to remind us when he first popped out of la casita, right as the initial electric guitar chords of house-influenced banger “Neverita” reverberated through the arena: “Summer ended in most of the world, but we’re in PR.”

Juan Diego Botto Femicide Drama is Produced, Distributed by Sideral

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Madrid-based Sideral, an integrated production-distribution-sales label which debuted in 2023 at the Berlinale, has announced plans to produce and distribute “Los Relatos” a femicide drama by Miguel del Arco with Juan Diego Botto (“The Room Next Door”), Marta Etura (“Cell 211”) and Ainara Elejalde (Mr. No One”) leading the cast.

Sideral will handle both international sales and distribution in Spain.

Principal photography kicks off in September with Aquí y Allí Films also producing. Its release is targeted for late next year.

“Los Relatos” explores the lasting, painful repercussions of a femicide — even more than 20 years after the crime was committed. It follows Pablo (played by Botto), who returns to his hometown after serving time for the murder of his wife — the very place where it all happened. Only the audience can decide whether he deserves a second chance — ostensibly one his victim will never have.

Said del Arco: “Writing this script has kept me on a constant edge, forcing me to confront deep contradictions. But the act of empathy is precisely what makes us human. Trying to put oneself in another’s place is, I believe, the only way we can move forward as a society.”

Expressing his full confidence in del Arco and his cast, Sideral’s Roberto Butragueño said: “’Los Relatos’ is a bold, necessary project, full of sensitivity.”

The drama explores the emotional and moral complexities that arise when a murderer decides to confront his past rather than vanish into anonymity. It delves into the needs of victims and their families as they seek to reclaim dignity in the aftermath of violence. At its core, the story examines the uneasy coexistence of reintegration and justice, the possibility of forgiving the unforgivable and the pursuit of redemption in the face of irreparable harm.

“What’s truly valuable about this film is the number of questions it raises. We would love for ‘Los Relatos’ to be an accessible proposal for audiences, without giving up on exploring the human issues that generate contradictions, doubts and even rejection,” said Aquí y Allí Films’ Pedro Hernández.

Founded by Butragueño of Elamedia Estudios, Sideral first made its debut presenting feature project “Cheaper Than Stealing” at the Berlinale Co-Production Market two years ago. It launched with a strong slate of 22 titles in either production, distribution or sales. These included Javier Rebollo’s “In the Sultan’s Bedchamber” and “I Have Electric Dreams” from Costa Rican Locarno multiple winner, Valeria Maurel.

Its distribution unit, led by Maria Oliva, has a slew of high-profile pics slated to release, including Michel Franco’s “Dreams” starring Jessica Chastain, and “The Chronology of Water,” starring Imogen Poots, Thora Birch and Jim Belushi.

Other Sideral features in production are Anxos Fazàns’s “Broken Lines” (“Las lineas discontinues”), Manuel Gómez Pereira’s “The Dinner” (“La Cena”) and Igor Legarreta’s “Blind Ants” (“Las ciegas hormigas”).
