Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth & Coco Jones Join Super Bowl LX Lineup

by jummy84 December 1, 2025
written by jummy84

As Bad Bunny prepares to headline the halftime show, Super Bowl LX is beefing up its star-studded musical lineup with help from Roc Nation and Apple Music.

On Sunday, the NFL announced that Brandi Carlile, Charlie Puth and Coco Jones have joined the pregame lineup for the championship game set for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 8, 2026, broadcasting live on NBC.

Puth will perform the national anthem, with Carlile singing ‘America the Beautiful’ and Jones delivering a rendition of ‘Lift Every Voice and Sing’, performing from venues around the San Francisco Bay Area.

The latest addition to the 2026 Super Bowl lineup comes after Bad Bunny was tapped to headline the halftime show in September, sparking threats from Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, despite the 3x Grammy winner being a U.S. citizen from Puerto Rico.

Trump loyalists have voiced their opinion against Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl, and Turning Point USA took the opportunity to present an alternative Halftime show on the same day.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has since defended the league’s decision to select Bad Bunny. “He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world. That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value. It’s carefully thought through,” he said.

“I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. That’s hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching. But I feel confident that it’s going to be a great show,” added Goodell. “He understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be an exciting and uniting moment.”

Norah Jones, Leon Bridges Team Up on ‘This Christmas I’m Coming Home’

Bridges will follow the release with “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14

Norah Jones and Leon Bridges teamed up for a holiday single, “This Christmas I’m Coming Home.” The song was written by Jones and Leon Michels, and produced by Michels, and nods to Bridges’ 2015 track “Coming Home.”

The festive song sees Jones and Bridges trading verses about returning home for the holidays. “I wanna leave the world behind for now/ And forget about the trouble on my mind,” the pair sings. “I can sit by the fire and lose myself for a while/ And remember what was so hard to find.”

The track is the first of two holiday singles from Bridges. The musician will release “A Merry Black Christmas” on Nov. 14. His most recent album, Leon, arrived in 2024. Earlier this year, Jones teamed up Charley Crocket for with the Crooner & the Cowboy Tour, which wrapped in September.

Trending Stories

Jones has shared numerous Christmas tunes over the years. In 2021, she dropped her first holiday album, I Dream of Christmas, a collection of both classics and originals. The LP was produced by Michels, who also worked on this new collaboration.

“I’ve always loved Christmas music but never had the inclination to make a holiday album until now,” Jones said at the time. “Last year I found myself listening to James Brown’s Funky Christmas and Elvis’s Christmas Album on Sundays during lockdown for a sense of comfort. In January 2021, I started thinking about making a Christmas album of my own. It gave me something fun to work on and look forward to.”

bitchy | Jones: ‘Icy’ Princess Kate is the reason why Prince Andrew will move out of Royal Lodge

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Over the past five years or so, there’s been a consistent move to give the Princess of Wales “credit” for all kinds of things. There was a months-long storyline in 2021 about Kate acting as the linchpin of the family, and the keen peacemaker between Prince Harry and Prince William. That narrative fell apart, not least of which because William clearly disregards Kate and her opinions and always has. There are consistent storylines about “Kate wants this or that” regarding the Sussexes and none of it ever pans out. Well, now they’re trying to say that Kate is pulling strings behind-the-scenes on the fiasco involving Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Nevermind that everything that’s happened in the past two weeks is “Classic Dithering Charles.” Why anyone wants to give Kate “credit” for this unfolding catastrophe is beyond me, but the Daily Mail’s Liz Jones insists that Icy Kate is behind it all.

Prince Andrew is rumoured to have agreed to call in the removal men, vacate the 30-room, 98-acre Royal Lodge, and relocate himself and his teddies to Frogmore Cottage – formerly the home of Harry and Meghan, where the yoga studio is still in situ, providing a place where he can continue to tie himself in knots. He wants his ex-wife, Sarah, to have nearby Adelaide Cottage – he’s after a two-for-one, clearly, though doubtless has never been inside Tesco – which is soon to be vacated by William, Kate and their children.

In this regal version of Relocation, Relocation, the Waleses are off to Forest Lodge. Billed as their ‘forever home’ it is just a short trot along a tree-lined avenue from… Royal Lodge. It’s little wonder then that William is rumoured to be the driving force behind Andrew’s exit. He’s supposedly determined to ensure his ‘beyond hideous’ uncle – as TV’s Emily Maitlis says the Prince of Wales regards Andrew – will not be his new nightmare neighbour.

But let’s not forget Kate, another instrumental player in the lodge-off. She isn’t a blood relative of her husband’s creepy uncle. Her life’s work is to protect children. And apparently, she ‘shudders at the thought of living so close to Royal Lodge’. She doesn’t see this as just a scandal that threatens the Monarchy and therefore her offspring’s secure future, but as one that has already ruined the lives of scores of young women.

The way in which Andrew signed off his emails to Jeffrey Epstein – with ‘A, HRH, the Duke of York, KG’ – would alone make Kate shudder. She wears her titles lightly, can shrug them off like a too-heavy coat when kneeling to comfort children, or those suffering from cancer. She no longer wants to rub padded shoulders with a man who spent time with an already convicted paedophile or his ex-wife, a woman who sent that paedophile toe-curlingly cringy emails, calling him her ‘supreme friend’.

There is no doubt Kate will have strong views on this unfolding royal fiasco. She knows her power. Look at how swiftly, unflinchingly she saw off Meghan. Remember that icy stare when the formerly Fab Four did a walkabout before Queen Elizabeth’s funeral? She is like a lioness, protecting her territory. And anyone who can come through cancer is not to be messed with Cancer survivors are the strongest people you will ever meet.

Charles has been slow to grasp the Andrew question. William has been, too. But like any mother of three children, Kate just wants it done. Today. To roll up her sleeves and clean the house, in more ways than one. As the only jewel left shining brightly in the Crown, what Kate wants, Kate gets.

[From The Daily Mail]

Well, at least they’re not pretending that Kate is just a dishrag with no opinions on anything. It’s true that Kate has an “icy stare” and, in my opinion, it’s true that Kate is a raging B. It’s not true that “what Kate wants, Kate gets.” Kate did not want to be sent to a four-bedroom cottage in Windsor for over three years. Kate does not want to send her kids to boarding schools (but that’s what will happen). Kate does not want to work… and they’re letting her get away with that. It’s interesting that Kate is getting “credit” for “seeing off Meghan” too, right? It’s almost an admission that Kate bullied the f–k out of her sister-in-law. Baby Brain strikes again!

Task Star Emilia Jones On Getting Lost In Her Role As Robbie’s Niece

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

SPOILER ALERT! This story contains details from the season finale of Task on HBO.

Emilia Jones considers it a compliment that, while playing the emo niece of a criminal uncle in Task, no one realized that she previously played the only hearing member of a deaf family in the 2021 Oscar winner CODA.

“I went to the Rangers game last night and someone was like, ‘I didn’t recognize you without your mullet.’ And then someone else was like, ‘well, I didn’t recognize her with the mullet.’ So many people sent me text messages saying they didn’t realize it was me until episode three or two,” admits Jones of the CODA role that earned her a BAFTA nomination. “It’s such a compliment. That’s what I love about acting. I love playing characters you can totally disappear into. That was my goal and I feel very happy that people didn’t realize it was me.”

Here, the British actress who also played the title character of Reality in 2024’s Winner and Kinsey in Locke & Key addresses Sunday’s adrenaline-fueled finale and where she thinks her character took Robbie’s kids now that they’re free from harm.

DEADLINE Let’s start with the final episode. Talk about high octane.

EMILIA JONES It was so much fun because I love stunts and it was the climax of the show. We all worked together to make that scene so much more than what we thought it could be. Sam Keeley, who plays Jayson, gave me a look before we started shooting that sequence and was like, ‘let’s do this. Let’s just go for it.’ We slightly went off the script and had this back and forth fight. My adrenaline was so high the whole time and it was a really, really challenging but such a fun scene to shoot.

DEADLINE In the end, how do you think Maive felt about Robbie, played by Tom Pelphrey?

JONES I think Maeve is devastated, obviously, when Tom [Mark Ruffalo] tells her Robbie’s dead. Maeve has long been torn by his choices, and she saw the risks, the moral compromises, the danger that he brought into the family. But at the end of the day, he was still her uncle and he was deeply intertwined into her life. Although Robbie burdened Maeve with a lot of responsibility, she knew that she still had someone who was looking out for her. So it’s an absolute huge loss. I think that Maeve had come to the realization that Robbie’s heart was always in the right place. No matter what he did, he was trying to protect his family.

DEADLINE What was it like working with Tom?

JONES He’s such a giving actor. Building Maeve and Robbie’s relationship was such a joy with Tom because it’s a complicated relationship. There’s a lot of resentment there with Maeve and some conflicting emotions and anger, but at the same time, there’s so much love between them. Tom and I would hang out a lot in between filming. We would go to museums and dinners and we did this trippy room at the children’s museum and wore 3D glasses. We basically spent five hours laughing. That really helped us bond. It was easy, then, to play the anger and tough emotions because there was so much trust and love between us.

DEADLINE You were quite the kid wrangler in this. Have you ever worked with this many kids on a project?

JONES It’s funny, creator Brad Ingelsby, when I first spoke to him about this project, ended the Zoom before I read the script and said, ‘do you like kids?’ It was such a random question to ask. I was like, yeah, I love kids. Who doesn’t? And then I read the script and was like, oh, okay, I understand. I started acting when I was 8, so I saw myself in the kids. I remember when I was on set when I was young, someone would get me a present or something and it would just mean the absolute world to me. So I tried to do that with the kids. For Ben Doherty, who plays Sam, it was one of his first projects. He was just so happy to be on set. So I bought him a little Polaroid camera so he could take pictures of all the crew and cast to make a little scrapbook to remember everybody for the rest of his life.

DEADLINE Which kid called your character a chicken butthole, again?

JONES That was little Oliver Eisenson, who plays Wyatt. Wyatt loved saying chicken butthole just as much as Oliver loved it. It wasn’t improvisation, but he absolutely loved that he got to say it. A lot of those kind of scenes were improvised because Oliver is such a bundle of energy and he’s so perfect for Wyatt, so they just kept the camera rolling and let him do his thing.

DEADLINE Where would you like to think that Maeve and the kids went at the end?

JONES I have thought about that so much. I just hope that Maeve is able to get the support that she needs because for a lot of her life, she’s had to put things on pause and never put herself first. I would like to think that she’s living a happy life with Harper, Wyatt and the family that they are, but at the same time, being able to grow as a person and learn to do a few things for herself, because my goodness, she deserves it.

DEADLINE Was Task a game changer for you?

JONES I mean, CODA was such a game changer and I’m so grateful for it. It was a complete whirlwind. The whole award season was such an amazing experience and such an unexpected one. I felt so lucky to have been a part of that film. I was 17 and I’d never signed or sung before. For every skill that was required for that film, I had a big fat NO by every single one of them. And for some reason, the director Sian Hader took a risk and cast me. I’ll be forever grateful for Sian and for that film. CODA allowed me to be a part of Task and I’m so grateful. Task really enriched my life. Maeve came to me at a time when I really needed it. I found filming the show really cathartic and I learned a lot about myself.

DEADLINE What have you heard about the future of Task?

JONES I’ve caught wind of it [being an anthology], and I really hope that that happens. Brad is such an amazing writer and I think his characters are so layered and complex. The way he portrays moral ambiguity in characters is so intriguing and it’s what drew me to Task and to watch Mare of Easttown. I think it would be a shame not to keep this world alive.

Julia Fox! Jodie Turner-Smith! Grace Jones Hula Hooping! Inside the Inaugural AmfAR London Gala

The step and repeat was a colorful sight. Turner-Smith wore a bazooka bra-ed, bright orange jumpsuit with a swirling cobalt blue cloak fresh from the Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2026 runway. “If I’m introducing the queen, then I must dress in homage to the queen,” Turner-Smith said, referencing Grace Jones. “I am so excited!” Then Sabrina Elba appeared in a slinky black gown, so Turner-Smith broke off mid-sentence to squeal and exchange air kisses. Michael Fassbender made a quick moment for the photographers, sunglasses kept firmly on, while Julia Fox appeared like a vision, and posed in a bulbous, bridal white dress by Marc Jacobs, her makeup like a marionette doll.

From there, 300 guests filtered into the next grand, low-lit room and enjoyed a cocktail reception with champagne and dirty martinis on rotation, and dinky canapés of squid arancini, artichoke bites, and tartlets.

“The truth is we’ve had amfAR supporters based in London asking us to bring an amfAR gala here for many years, but why now?” Kyle Clifford, the incoming amfAR CEO, told Vogue. “As amfAR begins to expand the focus of the research we’re funding, looking into solutions for other diseases, viruses, and conditions, in addition to HIV, now is the perfect time to expand our outreach as well. amfAR is seeking global solutions to global problems, and we want to make sure we’re speaking with people from all over the world. Collaboration is the key to success.”

John Gore Studios Buys Hilary Bevan Jones’ Hilltop Screen

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Hilary Bevan Jones’ recently launched Hilltop Screen has landed investment from Broadway producer John Gore’s TV and film venture, and drafted in Francis Hopkinson for a new central role.

John Gore Studios has bought a majority stake in Hilltop Screen, which former Endor chief and UK drama industry veteran Bevan Jones co-founded with Medwyn Jones, a British media lawyer. Financial terms were not disclosed.

At the same time, John Gore Studio has appointed former ITV Studios and Lookout Point exec Hopkinson as Creative Director.

Hilltop Screen joins John Gore Studios with several TV projects currently in development with major broadcasters and global streaming platforms, and feature films, including one soon to be announced.

Bevan Jones, one of the most well-known faces in British drama TV production, has credits ranging from Richard Curtis’ The Girl in the Café to Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot and from Cracker to The Boat That Rocked.  She was the first female BAFTA chair and supports emerging filmmakers through her global charity, Watersprite Film Festival, which she has chaired since 2009.

She launched her new venture after the Seven. One Studios-backed Endor closed last year in the face of the tough production environment in the UK. Bevan Jones had broadly stepped back from the business she launched in 1998, but remained a key player as a hands-on producer.

Hopkinson has been running his own script consultancy for several years, Expanded Media, and is known as one of the most experienced drama makers in the UK, having worked on the likes of The Bitter End and Wallander. He will complete work he has with Starz on 50 Cent-backed crime drama Fightland as he moves into his new post.

Hopkinson will oversee a slate of TV and film proejcts, and report to John Gore Studios CEO Hilary Strong.

As Deadline revealed in July, John Gore Studios launched with headquarters in London and offices in New York, and with a slate including Joan Collins-starring Wallis Simpson biopic The Bitter End (working title). Several high profile execs joined Strong on launch.

That news came over a year after Gore, a 25-time Tony Award winner, acquired iconic British Dracula outfit Hammer Films and several weeks after it bought Kaleidoscope parent KFilm. Gore is known theater productions such as Oklahoma!, Dear Evan Hansen and Hello, Dolly!.

Gore, who is Executive Chairman of John Gore Studios, called Bevan Jones “one of the most respected producers of British drama” and Hopkinson “an exceptional producer whose track record of delivering acclaimed, ambitious drama makes him the perfect creative leader.”

Strong added: “We are proud to be assembling a diverse and dynamic ecosystem of talent, IP and production expertise. By building an end-to-end studio of rights, production and distribution, we are accelerating our mission to deliver compelling, globally resonant stories rooted in both legacy and innovation.”

Bevan Jones, who is Managing Director of Hilltop Screen, said: “I formed Hilltop Screen as a small multi-generational company because I’m keen to continue making high quality, world class TV and film that will last a lifetime. I’m thrilled that John Gore Studios recognises and shares this vision and has chosen to enable it.

Hopkinson noted that Gore had directed him in a university play four 40 years ago, as he gears up for his new post. “The company has an incredibly exciting slate ahead, bringing together the very best of British creative talent—both on and off screen—and showcasing it on the international stage,” he added.

More announcements around commissions and slate developments from both Hilltop Screen and John Gore Studios can be expected this year.

Frauds review | Jones and Whittaker fight typecasting in bold heist drama

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

At a time of funding woes and fragmenting audiences, widely marketable detective shows and true crime dramas have come to dominate our schedules more than ever, seemingly leaving little room for much else.

By design, Frauds isn’t wholly original – its influences in the heist caper genre are clear to see – but its vibrant setting and eccentric leads still offer a welcome break from smartly dressed sleuths standing morosely against a grey sky.

Indeed, between all of the violent atrocities and calculating sociopaths in our TV diet, it’s no wonder that the country seems perpetually on the cusp of a nervous, paranoid breakdown. Frauds is a holiday by comparison.

The story picks up after loose canon Bert (Jones), a fraudster and thief, is released from prison on compassionate grounds due to ill health, bringing her back together with former partner-in-crime, Sam (Whittaker).

It isn’t long before old habits rear their head, with the quiet sundown that Bert had promised swiftly mutating into a pitch for one last job, intended to leave a lasting impact – and potentially set Sam up for life.

As is tradition, a crew is assembled, including magician’s assistant Jackie (Elizabeth Berrington), forgery pro Bilal (Karan Gill) and mentor figure Miss Take (Talisa Garcia), all of whom are overlooked and facing pressures of their own.

Alas, the full potential of this line-up doesn’t present itself until the third episode (by far the strongest of the first half), which sees our gang finally collaborate on a mission where their chemistry rapidly builds.

Jodie Whittaker and Suranne Jones star in Frauds. ITV / Monumental Television

Prior to this, Frauds drags its feet through a flat introduction, where perhaps the most memorable moment is Bilal eagerly guzzling a can of room-temperature baked beans – mainly for how it made me feel viscerally nauseous.

(Let the record show that I am a chronic beans-on-toast eater, but cold from the can is just wrong – and I’m sorry, but it’s something I won’t budge on.)

That this moment has lingered so long in the mind exposes not just my own firmly held beliefs around cupboard essentials, but also that Frauds is at its best when being silly or downright bizarre.

In the first two episodes, too long is spent airing Bert and Sam’s historic grievances (as well as creating a few new ones) in scenes that creak as Jones and Whittaker get settled into these new roles.

Karan Gill plays Bilal in Frauds; seen here on the phone against an ocean backdrop with wind blowing in his hair

Karan Gill plays Bilal in Frauds. ITV / Monumental Television

Frauds represents a striking departure for both of its prolific stars (a fact acknowledged on the press tour), but neither actor immediately disappears behind the hair dye, fake tattoos and elaborate costumes deployed here.

Jones just doesn’t quite fit the mould of a reckless, bawdy burnout, nor Whittaker as a brooding, angry thug, although their respective roles do become more believable as the series progresses and your brain has a chance to recalibrate.

Of course, actors should be given the chance to escape typecasting and flex new muscles – and fans of this duo can expect to see just that – but Frauds is arguably a case of too much, too soon.

At least that, again, speaks to its ambition as a work of genre fiction clearly trying to defy expectations of not just its lead actors, but of primetime programming more broadly.

Having only seen the first half, I can’t yet say whether Frauds will stick the landing; but if it doubles down on the zany action, team camaraderie and genre elements in the chapters to come, then we might yet have something as enjoyable as it is admirable.

Frauds premieres ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday 5th October 2025.

Jodie Whittaker and Suranne Jones on what makes Frauds “fresh”

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s one of three shows starring Jones to premiere in as many months, following Netflix thriller Hostage and preceding BBC romcom Film Club, with the wide variety of genres represented in the line-up being noteworthy.

Jones agreed that they’re “different enough” to co-exist, and hoped that Frauds could inspire “more” diversity in the types of stories being told on British television – and especially those featuring female characters.

“When you look at the scale of the show… placing two females in a [male-dominated] heist world, and also, the location, the odd characters – it feels fresh to me,” she told RadioTimes.com. “And obviously that’s what attracted Jodie.”

Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker star in Frauds ITV

Jones co-created Frauds with Maryland collaborator Anne-Marie O’Connor and expressed her hope to “see more of this stuff”, referring to dramas that don’t fit the typical British TV mould.

Whittaker concurred: “When I read it, I was just blown away by how different these characters felt [and] this particular relationship, and the world that we were in… but it still felt authentic. I felt like I knew these people.

“As extreme as some of the characters are – we’re all pretty heightened – but there’s some kind of familiarity with it, and within this specific friendship.”

The former Doctor Who star previously said that British television shows can often have only one challenging female role, acknowledging that she and co-star Jones have had to audition against each other in the past.

With that in mind, she spoke to feeling “really lucky to be in an art heist led by two women” and had a “brilliant time exploring roles in a genre we wouldn’t normally get to play in”.

Jones added: “It’s women behaving how you wouldn’t expect women to behave… usually those aspects get diluted and don’t end up on screen. But you can’t dilute these two people because there’s so much frisson and history.”

Frauds premieres on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm on Sunday 5th October.
