Yungblud will join the members of Aerosmith for a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs this weekend.

The 42nd Video Music Awards are taking place in the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on Sunday night (September 7), and a portion of the show will pay tribute to the late Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away in July at the age of 76.

Yungblud will join forces with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt during the ceremony for a medley of Osbourne’s greatest hits.

The VMAs will be broadcast live on CBS and MTV from 8pm ET in the US, while UK viewers will be able to watch it on Comedy Central and MTV at 9pm on Monday night (September 8).

Yungblud was a part of the ‘Back To The Beginning’ Black Sabbath farewell show in Birmingham in July, an event that took on extra poignancy when Osbourne died less than three weeks later. Yungblud led a supergroup that also included Bettencourt, as well as II from Sleep Token and Adam Wakeman of Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band.

They performed the Sabbath ballad ‘Changes’, and after Osbourne’s death, Yungblud vowed to play the song at every show “for the rest of my life”, adding: ““To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd who loved you was truly my life’s greatest honour.”

Yungblud also posted an emotional tribute to Osbourne, saying: “You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little ‘too much’ or ‘strange’ in my life and career.”

He later spoke to NME about the impact that Ozzy has had on his career. “Ozzy was a character in my life who was a reflection of everything I went through,” he said. “I was always a bit over the top. I was always seen to be a bit crazy. I was always seen to be a bit loud, but when some people saw that as a negative, Ozzy would provide me with the hope that there was an avenue for someone like me in the world.

“From such a young age, he really inspired me. Then, to know him as a friend towards the end, to know his heart, and to know Sharon Osbourne… I really started to understand that they did things their way. It’s always been inspirational because, for me, the biggest enemy to any artist or anything is the phrase, ‘This is just how it’s done’. That’s a cop out. ‘This is how it’s done’ was once an innovative idea that got stale.

“All I care about are the people outside, and I want to make this the most magical adventure for them, and something that we’re gonna have together. [Ozzy’s death] is still raw at the minute. It’s been a very weird couple of weeks. But losing someone I admired and got to know really made me think about the idea of legacy and connection with people. All that matters is the connection with them.”

Yungblud also broke down in tears during a performance of ‘Changes’ in the US recently, while Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler described one of his shows as the “best” he’d seen in years.

Elsewhere at the VMAs, Lady Gaga will be performing there for the first time in five years, joining the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin and Busta Rhymes. Check out the full list of VMAs nominations here.

Cyndi Lauper performed the final show of her farewell tour at the Hollywood Bowl last night (August 30), and she was joined on stage by special guests Joni Mitchell, Cher, John Legend and SZA.

Earlier this year, Lauper announced that she would wrap up the final leg of her North American ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ farewell tour with two shows at the Hollywood Bowl on August 29 and 30.

Fans were speculating whether she would do anything special to mark the culmination of the tour, and she surprised the audience by bringing out special guests, including Joni Mitchell, Cher, John Legend and SZA.

Mitchell joined the pop musician for a rendition of ‘Carey’. This marks Mitchell’s second public appearance in 2025. Later, John Legend came on stage to duet ‘Time After Time’.  The encore featured SZA, who joined Lauper for ‘True Colours’. It ended with Cher surprising the attendees by joining Cyndi for a duet of ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’.

Elsewhere, singer-songwriter Jake Wesley Rogers, who was the support act, joined for a cover of The Brains’ ‘Money Changes Everything’.

Watch some fan-captured footage of these duets, and check out the full set list below.

The ‘Goonies R Good Enough’ singer previously embarked on a North American farewell tour late last year. The run of dates saw her bring out Sam Smith at her Madison Square Garden show in NYC to perform a duet of her hit track ‘Time After Time’. She also brought out Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams at her show in Nashville for a duet of ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’.

She also opened up about why she decided to have a farewell tour while appearing as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

While she clarified that she’s by no means retiring, Lauper has ruled out “the trains, planes and automobiles”, suggesting that she’s open to the occasional hometown performance. She explained further: “I want to do an arena tour… I’m strong now, but I don’t know what I’m going to be like in four years.”

Shortly after, Lauper acknowledged her age by getting off her seat to mimic herself using a walker. “For me, I wanted to have a chance to do this when I’m feeling strong. I want to celebrate with people. Really celebrate with people, and make it fun.”

In other news, Lauper was recently nominated to be inducted into the 2025 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Bollywood’s favorite pair Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza, along with their children, joined the Khan family for Ganesh darshan at Arpita Khan Sharma’s Mumbai residence on the festive day of Ganesh Chaturthi. The family event, organized by Arpita and Aayush Sharma every year, featured the Khan family members such as Salman Khan, Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Agnihotri, Atul Agnihotri, Alizeh Agnihotri, and some other close friends.

Deshmukh Family’s Festive Spirit
Genelia gave fans a glimpse into the festivities by sharing a cozy family picture on her Instagram story. Posing in front of a flower background in traditional attire, the Deshmukh family radiated celebratory mood. She also loved Arpita’s grand bash, adding, “Every year you outdo yourself!!! Ganesh Darshan was absolutely beautiful, Arpita Khan Sharma.” Riteish re-posted the image with the caption, “Family Forever.”

Performing the Ganesh Aarti
The celebrations included the Ganesh devotional aarti, recorded on camera uploaded by Salman Khan. The video began with the beautifully decorated Ganpati idol laden with flowers and lights, followed by the family ceremonies. Salim and Salma Khan led the prayers, followed by Salman in a plain black t-shirt and beige trousers. The entire Khan family participated, while Riteish, Genelia, and their children were seen taking part in the traditional aarti.

A Creative Home Celebration
Ganesh Chaturthi this year was all the more special for Genelia and Riteish because their kids Riaan and Rahyl created “robotic modaks.” Sharing the unique creation on social media, the couple expressed pride at the imagination of their children when they wrote, “Ganpati Bappa Morya! This Ganesh Chaturthi, our home is filled with love, laughter, and the unlimited creativity of Riaan & Rahyl!”

Ganesh Chaturthi, which was held this year on August 27, will find a culmination in Ganesh Visarjan on September 6.

written by jummy84

Things are heating up for one of the few announced Star Wars projects on the horizon, as Lucasfilm has announced a bunch of new cast members for Star Wars: Starfighter, which starts production today. Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams will all joining Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy’s new space adventure, set to premiere in 2027.

There are some heavy-hitters in that list: Adams is one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation with six Oscar nominations and a slew of credits including Arrival, Enchanted, and The Master, while also serving as Zack Snyder’s Lois Lane. Goth, meanwhile, has become a horror queen thanks to Ti West’s X trilogy, as well as roles in Infinity Pool and Susperia — she’ll next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein later this year.

Pierre’s credits include the acclaimed limited series The Underground Railroad, playing Malcolm X in NatGeo’s Genius: MLK/X, and portraying a young Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King. And Smith’s latest movie, Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, hits theaters on August 29th, but the Doctor Who and Crown star has recently become a staple across multiple major franchises thanks to appearances in Terminator Genisys, Morbius (not his fault), and House of the Dragon.

In a statement, Levy said that “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Star Wars: Starfighter premieres May 28th, 2027. For more Star Wars fun, look back on Matt Goldberg’s reflection on the state of the franchise today.
