John Stamos Appears at Riot Fest After Organizers’ 12-Year Pursuit

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

A dozen years after organizers failed to book fictional Full House band Jesse and the Rippers in 2013, the actor finally takes the Riot Fest stage via the Beach Boys

John Stamos finally made his debut at Chicago’s Riot Fest on Saturday, performing alongside the Beach Boys in an appearance that was a dozen years in the making.

Organizers had been pursuing Stamos since 2013, when they first offered a set to the actor’s fictional Full House band Jesse and the Rippers. The overtures became increasingly more aggressive and madcap: A statue of Stamos made out of butter, dubbed “Butter Stamos,” was constructed, while additional headline-grabbing stunts — like a John Stamos art show in 2017 — were staged in subsequent years to grab the actor’s attention.

Earlier this summer, Riot Fest revealed that they had finally found a loophole to force Stamos to visit the festival: By recruiting the Beach Boys, who currently employ the actor as a touring member. Stamos “begrudgingly” accepted the invite.

However, Stamos dictated a list of outlandish demands in August in order to secure his participation: Riot Fest founder Riot Mike must get a tattoo of the actor (which he did last month), a local Chicago pizza place must offer a Greece-themed pie, a Stamos lookalike contest, Stamos-approved merch, a festival-wide mandate that no one make eye contact with his hair, etc.

With his demands met, Stamos finally took the Riot Fest stage on Saturday. “WE DID IT,” the festival exclaimed on social media.

Trending Stories

In addition to performing with the Beach Boys, the actor partook in many of the Stamos-themed festivities, including posing alongside “Butter Stamos” and wearing merch bearing his own name.

Stamos later shared his own post on social media featuring highlights from his long-awaited day at the festival. “‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ if I went to Riot Fest?” he quipped.

John Cleese and Piers Morgan clash over Jimmy Kimmel cancellation: “You flaming old hypocrite”

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

John Cleese and Piers Morgan have clashed on social media over the cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the late night talk show had been pulled from the ABC Network, which is owned by Disney, over Kimmel’s comments following the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Right-wing activist Kirk was shot in the neck and killed at Utah Valley University campus on September 10, and, following the incident, Kimmel said that all signs pointed to Kirk’s shooter being a Trump supporter.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterise this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said in his Monday night monologue.

The subsequent fallout saw the show taken off-air indefinitely, a move that sparked a strong response from either side of the political spectrum.

Jimmy Kimmel lied about Charlie Kirk’s assassin being MAGA, this caused understandable outrage all over America, prompted TV station owners to say they wouldn’t air him, and he’s now been suspended by his employers. Why is he being heralded as some kind of free speech martyr?

— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 18, 2025

Morgan reacted to the news by posting on X on Tuesday (September 16): “Jimmy Kimmel lied about Charlie Kirk’s assassin being MAGA, this caused understandable outrage all over America, prompted TV station owners to say they wouldn’t air him, and he’s now been suspended by his employers. Why is he being heralded as some kind of free speech martyr?”

US politician Joe Walsh replied to the post, arguing that Morgan had “missed the point”, prompting Monty Python and Fawlty Towers legend Cleese to write: “This from Piers Morgan. Who has made a fortune working for Rupert Murdoch.”

This from Piers Morgan. who has made a fortune working for Rupert Murdoch https://t.co/TNd4geJkDm

— John Cleese (@JohnCleese) September 18, 2025

Morgan responded to Cleese by posting: “You took Rupert’s money too, you flaming old hypocrite. I’m just proud of it.”

I’m just proud of it. https://t.co/2XiuqpE3mY

— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 18, 2025

Hostilities continued on Wednesday, with Cleese writing: “I see Piers Morgan says he’s proud to have worked with Rupert Murdoch, the man who had done more to contaminate Britain’s journalism than anyone else. Tells us all we need to know about Piers, whose only talent is associating himself with people much better known than himself.”

Morgan replied with three laughing emojis, writing: “a) Rupert’s much nicer than you.. even your fellow Pythons loathe you. b) I’m way more famous than you, which is why I have nearly twice as many followers.”

It is now believed that Kimmel’s business and legal representatives are in discussions with Disney and ABC executives in the hope of reaching a compromise that would allow for the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

While the move to cancel the show has been celebrated by President Trump, with whom the host has had a long-running feud, many in the entertainment industry have spoken out against the suspension. Almost all of Hollywood’s prominent creative guilds have condemned the decision, while fellow late-night legends Stephen Colbert and David Letterman have also spoken out, voicing concerns over free speech.

Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron also criticised the suspension, saying on Instagram: “This is government censorship. This is the Trump administration coming after people who speak out against him.”

John Legend Honored At 2025 Black Music Action Coalition Gala: Photos

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

The 2025 Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Gala brought musicians, executives, journalists, and activists together for a common cause. For the fifth annual event, hundreds gathered at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA., to recognize the important work done by the organization as well as to fund and empower its future efforts. BMAC was founded in 2020 and, since its inception, has distributed over $4 million in direct economic relief, established over 200 paid internships and job placements, reached more than 5,500 students, and mentored over 500 emerging music artists and industry professionals.

“Many would think that the work and the progress that happened in 2020 was not effective, but it’s actually the complete opposite. The reason why we are feeling this sort of federal attack on diversity and inclusion is because of the impact that was made in 2020. So this is not the time to retreat, but the time to double and triple down on those commitments, and the music industry has always challenged this country and the world to live up to its potential, and so that’s what inspires us,” explained BMAC cofounder and CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers on the red carpet ahead of the event.

“BMAC might have formed in 2020, but we come from a long tradition of the entertainment industry being able to be a powerful platform to advance these conversations, and over the next five years, we are going to be as committed as we ever been,” as he continued to relay organization plans to expand its advocacy into global territory.

In all its elegance, the 2025 Gala added John Legend, Irving Azoff, Sherrese Clarke / HarbourView Equity Partners, Kai Cenat and Apple & Apple Music, and Primary Wave Music to its growing list of esteemed honorees in its five-year history. The event kicked off with a four-course dinner and musical selections performed by the 1500 Or Nothing musical ensemble. After a call for donations at the fundraising event, with the largest public commitment being $10,000, host Mickey Guyton took the stage to perform “Black Like Me.”

She was then joined by her co-host, Kenny Burns, who shifted attention to current events with lighthearted quips about Jimmy Kimmel being suspended indefinitely at ABC, accompanied by a brief snippet of YG and Nipsey Hussle’s politically-charged “FDT.” While the event featured first-time introductions, well overdue reunions, dancing, and a performance by Earth, Wind & Fire, all in attendance were united on the mission. Guests included Tyrese, Cash Cobain, Estelle, Eric Benét, and more.

During his time on stage, John Legend shared a passionate speech, bringing Burns’ opening remarks full circle.

“Progress isn’t guaranteed. Power doesn’t give itself away, and truth-telling doesn’t come without a cause. We’re watching it happen in real time. Our government is kidnapping and disappearing our friends and neighbors. People [are] taking their kids to school, serving food in the park. And then they’re flooding our streets with militarized soldiers, war fighters, to silence those who dare to speak out. We’re watching the richest people on earth get richer while our government takes from the poorest children in the world,” remarked the Ohio native as he accepted the BMAC Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award presented by Babyface.

“We’re watching journalists, truth-tellers, get punished for doing their jobs. Just this week, the Washington Post fired a black woman journalist, Karen Attiah, for simply quoting the exact words of the President’s favorite podcaster,” in reference to Charlie Kirk.

He continued, “We are living in a time where truth-telling comes with consequences, a time where progress is reversed, facts are distorted, and those who dare to speak up are punished. But every step forward we’ve ever taken in this country, every single win began with somebody telling the truth,” adding, “That’s what Nina Simone understood in 1963 when she sat down at her piano in a moment of fury and courage. And that’s the tradition I choose to walk in.”

What Did John Oliver, Hannah Einbinder Say When Bleeped at Emmys 2025

What Did John Oliver, Hannah Einbinder Say When Bleeped at Emmys 2025

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

For an awards show hosted by clean comedian Nate Bargatze, who avoids using foul language in his stand-up sets, the 2025 Emmys featured a surprisingly high number of f-bombs.

The CBS telecast of Sunday night’s awards ceremony had its sound cut out multiple times for home viewers as a number of winners peppered their acceptance speeches with curse words.

At one point, Bargatze even joked, he was going to start a swear jar.

So what did those bleeped winners say? Read on to find out.

Hannah Einbinder

The Hacks star won best supporting actress in a comedy, her first Emmy for her work in the fourth season of the Max series, and ended her speech with some pointed political remarks. While her “free Palestine” cry is getting attention, prior to that she also declared “Fuck ICE,” calling out the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that’s been particularly active during Donald Trump’s second term, as the president has pushed for massive deportations of suspected illegal immigrants.

John Oliver

The Last Week Tonight host continued his Emmys winning streak, nabbing his third consecutive trophy in the scripted variety series category after his HBO show was recategorized. When he took the stage to accept his award, Oliver spoke fast, seemingly in an attempt to get his full speech within the allotted time, after Bargatze had declared that long speeches would deduct money from a charitable donation to the Boys and Girls Club.

“Fuck you, Nate Bargatze, that is a lot of money for you!” Oliver said, as he neared the end of his remarks. “And you can add a ‘fuck’ to the swear jar as well.”

Erin Doherty

The Adolescence actress, who won for best supporting actress in a limited series, praised her award-winning colleagues Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham and her family members before thanking the Television Academy, saying to the awards organization, “you’re all fucking stunning.”

Seth Rogen

Rogen won multiple awards on Sunday night, but it was when he won his final prize of best comedy series for The Studio that he colorfully expressed his regret for taking so much money away from Bargatze’s donation (not to worry, the host announced at the end of the show that the organization would receive a $350,000 donation after all).

After sharing his gratitude for all of the love shown to The Studio, Rogen joked, “If anyone else wants to say something, we’re already in debt. We fucked over the Boys and Girls, so.”

Elton John Reveals How He Turned Kneecaps Into Gold Jewelry

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Leave it to Elton John to turn a tough situation into gold — literally. In the trailer for his new documentary short film, Touched by Gold, he reveals how he turned both of his kneecaps into wearable gold jewelry. Watch the trailer below.

“When I had my kneecaps removed, the left one first and then the right, I asked my surgeon if I could keep the kneecaps, which he was rather startled about,” the pop icon stated in an exclusive clip provided to Us Weekly, going on to add that he gave jewelry designer Theo Fennell the artistic liberty to do “what you want with them” after his double knee replacement.

The designer then explained how his team “baked” John’s kneecaps to “dry them out,” a process that renders the bones into a porous, pumice stone-like texture, allowing them to be painted with acetate and polished.

Related Video

“My surgeon said I had the worst knees he’s ever operated on,” John said, revealing that his right patella was transformed into a gold-plated necklace. “That hole was actually in my kneecap. It looks a bit like an old artifact from Egypt.”

The singer added that Fennell made the transformation even more special, as he “brilliantly had the necklace chain made out of bones.” Making the piece complete is an engraving of a Latin phrase that translates to, “I will no longer bow to any man.” According to Fennell, that’s something “you can’t do with a kneecap missing.”

Since they couldn’t do “so much with it,” John’s left knee was turned into a brooch. “I honestly think these are timeless pieces that will last for centuries,” the pop superstar added.

“Gold is timeless,” John emphasizes in the trailer. “It’s a constant reminder of how beautiful things can look.”

Touched by Gold is out now on the World Gold Council’s official website.

John can currently be seen in the long-awaited This is Spinal Tap sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. He’s also featured on the new movie’s companion album, appearing on the songs “(Listen to The) Flower People” and “Stonehenge.”

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Wins Emmy For Scripted Variety

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

John Oliver once again beat Saturday Night Live.

HBO’s Last Week Tonight beat Lorne Michaels’ NBC show for the third straight year in the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category.

It comes after the show, which launched on HBO in 2014, previously won seven consecutive times in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category.

John Oliver thanked HBO and his team as well as his family in an incredibly short speech, helping Nate Bargatze’s charity jar, designed to keep the speeches tight and donate money to the Boys and Girls Club of America. After Oliver’s speech, the counter went back to $99,000.

“F*ck you, Nate Bargatze, that is a lot of money for you and you can add a f*ck to the swear jar as well,” he said before racing off the stage.

In 2023, the TV Academy shook up the categories last year, launching Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, alongside Outstanding Talk Series and moved Oliver into the former, going head-to-head with SNL, which had won the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series six years in a row starting in 2017.

It has been nominated for 73 Emmys and won 30. At the Creative Arts Emmys, though, it failed to win in directing, which went to The Late Show, and picture editing.

Oliver, who is contracted through to the end of the 2026 season, exec produces the series alongside Tim Carvell and Liz Stanton. It is produced by HBO in association with Peyance Productions and Avalon Television.

Tender New Trailer for ‘Jimpa’ LGBTQ+ Film Featuring John Lithgow

by Alex Billington

“I understand the need to find yourself, find your family… I simply said: Frances, this is your grandpa, Jim. But he thought grandpa sounded too old so he gave himself a new name: Jimpa.” Kismet down in Australia has unveiled the first official trailer for a lovely film about family called Jimpa, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It’s the newest film made by the Australian filmmaker Sophie Hyde (following Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and has no US release set yet. Jimpa will have its Australian premiere as the Opening Night film at this year’s Adelaide Film Festival in October. Hannah and her non-binary teenager Frances visits her gay grandfather Jimpa living in Amsterdam. Frances expresses a desire to stay with their grandfather for a year, challenging Hannah’s parenting beliefs and forcing her to confront past issues. Starring John Lithgow as Jimpa, Olivia Colman as Hannah, Aud Mason-Hyde as Frances, with Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Kate Box, and Daniel Henshall. “With warmth, humour and joy, Jimpa reminds us that, in every family, there are stories that don’t add up.” I’m very happy to be quoted in this trailer from my Sundance review. I still think it is a wonderfully warm, tender, worthwhile film… Enjoy.

Here’s the first official Australian trailer for Sophie Hyde’s film Jimpa, direct from Kismet’s YouTube:

Jimpa is an uplifting multi-generational family story starring favourites Olivia Colman & John Lithgow. Hannah (Colman) travels to vibrant Amsterdam with her non-binary teen, Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde), to reconnect with her politically-engaged, gay father—affectionately known as “Jimpa” (Lithgow). Frances is besotted with Jimpa and announces they wish to stay with him for a year – to Hannah’s apprehension. Jimpa is fiercely independent, so it is a shock when his declining health is revealed, upending Frances’ plans and bringing Hannah’s sister in from the UK. As the siblings negotiate what happens next, Hannah must confront her past & stories she has told about her family. Jimpa is directed by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Sophie Hyde, director of the films 52 Tuesdays, Animals, and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande previously, plus many other short films. The screenplay is written by Sophie Hyde and Matthew Cormack. Produced by Liam Heyen, Bryan Mason, Marleen Slot, Sophie Hyde. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). The film opens first in Australia coming up after playing at the 2025 Adelaide Film Festival. No US release is set – expected in early 2026. Who’s interested?

Emmerdale star teases John Sugden “twists and turns” as Aaron and Robert remain in danger

However, with things getting ever more complicated for John, it would seem that surely he’s only moments away from being caught out? Or maybe not…

Speaking with RadioTimes.com on the red carpet for the National Television Awards 2025, John’s actor Oliver Farnworth was asked whether there was more carnage on the way for his character.

He teased: “It wouldn’t be Emmerdale without a few twists and turns, would it? So I’d say, just when you think something’s gonna go one way, it can always go another.”

Farnworth also said that John does love Aaron “1 million per cent”, and that he “feels like he’s his soulmate”.

“But the problem that comes with that, with someone who’s been kind of shielded from love as John has a lot of their life, is that he doesn’t really know what to do with love.

“So he’s got Aaron, and he goes, ‘Well, I just love you so much, I just want you, I don’t want anyone else.’ It just becomes quite possessive, quite dangerous. And I think that’s what’s happened in this instance, and that’s what’s led to all of this carnage.”

It was previously reported that Farnworth will be departing from the soap “imminently” – but just how soon that actually ends up being, and how much damage John can do in the meantime, remains to be seen. ITV previously declined to comment on John’s future.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.

Emily Blunt clearly has it all. The Devil Wears Prada star is a celebrated actress, having made her name in films including Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place, and Girl On The Train, among others. She’s built a legacy in the Disney universe as well, starring in Mary Poppins Returns and Jungle Cruise.

Behind the scenes, she’s married to fellow actor John Krasinski, whom she wed in 2010 in a private ceremony at pal George Clooney‘s Lake Como estate. Four years later, the famous couple became parents with the birth of their first child in 2014; and in another two years, they welcomed their second child.

In July of 2023, amid the release of the highly acclaimed biopic Oppenheimer, Emily announced she’d be temporarily stepping back from her craft and taking a break to spend more time with her beloved husband and daughters. “I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little,” Emily said during an appearance on iHeart’s Table For Two with Bruce Bozzi podcast. “And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Here’s what to know about Emily Blunt’s two adorable daughters, Hazel and Violet.

The impending arrival of Emily and John’s first daughter, Hazel, was first announced in Sept. of 2013. The couple welcomed their little one, now 9 years old, on February 16, 2014. “Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!” John wrote via Twitter at the time.

Though the couple have kept their lives with their daughters extraordinarily private, we do know that Emily found her newborn baby to be perfectly adorable. “She’s just stinkin’ cute!” Emily gushed during a May 2014 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “She’s so cute. She came out, like, ready for a photo shoot. She was just perfect.”

Emily also opened up about how they chose their daughters uniquely antiquated first name.  “I find it really stressful naming a human being,” Emily laughed at the time. “So we went through a few different ones and John found it. We both really like old lady names, so….”

Violet Krasinski

John and Emily’s younger daughter, Violet, was born in June of 2016. She’s now six years old. After quietly welcoming the little one, John again took to Twitter to share the happy news. “What better way to celebrate the 4th… than to announce our 4th family member!!! 2 weeks ago we met our beautiful daughter Violet #Happy4th,” he wrote.

In a in 2020 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the actress revealed that Violet may have a penchant for acting — and accents. “My little one sent me a video — well she didn’t actually send it but someone sent it — of her singing ‘Jingle Bells,’ and she goes, ‘Jingle ol’ da waye!’ Almost like a Cockney,” she said. “It was almost like Dick Van Dyke singing ‘Jingle Bells.’ The craziest accent ever — it was kind of brilliant.”
