What Did Jeremy Renner Do? What Filmmaker Yi Zhou Accused Him of – Hollywood Life

Jeremy Renner made headlines in November 2025 when a filmmaker named Yi Zhou accused the 54-year-old actor of sending her unolicited sexual DMs and threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on her. Renner adamantly denied Zhou’s allegations and fired back with a cease-and-desist letter, accusing the director of sending him multiple explicit messages.

Below, Hollywood Life has compiled the whole story so far between Renner and Zhou.

Who Is Yi Zhou?

Zhou is a 37-year-old Chinese director, writer, producer and model. Known for her documentary Between Stars and Scars: Masters of Cinema, the London School of Economics graduate has been in the film and performing arts industry for nearly 20 years.

As a model, Zhou has appeared in campaigns for Vogue, Uomo Vogue and Elle and was on the cover of Vogue China Beauty among other publications around the world.

Zhou has also dabbled in entrepreneurial ventures, starting her lifestyle and fashion brand, Global Intuition, in 2019. She has also launched entertainment companies, including Into the Sun in the U.S. and in Italy.

What Did Jeremy Renner Allegedly Do?

Zhou accused Renner of sending her sexual DMs and WhatsApp messages over the summer of 2025. According to multiple outlets, Zhou claimed in a series of posts that Renner told her he was “open to a long-term relationship.”

“I believed in him, in the power of love and in the possibility of redemption,” Zhou wrote about Renner. “When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me.”

Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye, Mayor of Kingstown) threatened to call ICE on his Chinese filmmaker partner in September, she told me.

I was shocked when I saw the text messages.

— Josh Boswell (@JoshTBoswell) November 6, 2025

Renner, however, vehemently denied the accusations and sent Zhou a cease-and-desist letter after she went public with her claims in November 2025, according to TMZ. Renner’s attorney, Marty Singer, claimed Zhou came onto Renner and that when she allegedly tried to pull a move on him again in August 2025, he made sure she stayed in the guest room. Renner’s attorney also claimed that Zhou sent the actor explicit, sexual messages. Renner also threatened to take legal action.

Were Jeremy Renner & Yi Zhou in a Relationship?

Renner claimed that he and Zhou had a “brief consensual encounter,” and that he had rejected Zhou’s advances in August 2025, a month after they first met to discuss her documentary Chronicles of Disney.

Who Is Jeremy Renner’s Ex-Wife?

Renner’s ex-wife is Canadian actress Sonni Pacheco. The former spouses share their daughter, Ava, together. Renner and Pacheco were married from 2014 to 2015.

Sunni Pacheco’s Allegations Against Jeremy Renner: What She Accused Him of

After Renner and Pacheco initially agreed on joint custody of their daughter, Ava. However, four years after their divorce, Pacheco filed a request for physical custody of Ava and asked for monitored visitation whenever Renner had their daughter, according to several outlets. Pacheco later accused Renner of several alarming actions, including allegedly threatening to end her life and put a gun in his own mouth before aiming to fire it up toward the ceiling, per TMZ.

Renner denied Pacheco’s claims. A rep for the MCU star told TMZ that the “well-being of his daughter, Ava, has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy. This is a matter for the court to decide. It’s important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni’s declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind.”

Hot Air Balloon Survival Thriller ‘Turbulence’ Trailer with Jeremy Irvine

“You’re not getting away with this…” Lionsgate has debute their trailer for a movie called Turbulence, an intense action thriller survival movie from Swiss filmmaker Claudio Fäh. He’s known for making schlocky direct-to-video action movies and this definitely looks direct-to-VOD quality. Young married couple Zach & Emmy decide to take a hot air balloon trip across the Italian Dolomites to rekindle their relationship. When they and pilot Harry are joined by a third passenger, Julia, events unfold in ways in which they could never imagine 5000 meters (or ~16,400 feet) in the air. In this high-octane action thriller, what should have been the trip of a lifetime turns to disaster as the dark secrets harbored by the passengers are revealed & the wrath of nature is unleashed. With Hera Hilmar, Jeremy Irvine, Kelsey Grammer, Olga Kurylenko. Any guesses on what the “dark secret” will be? How will they get out of this safely? I love “99 Red Balloons” but the song clips they use in this trailer are so bad. The whole film looks way too cheap & cheesy to watch.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Claudio Fäh’s thriller movie Turbulence, direct from YouTube:

Turbulence Poster

Zach & Emmy’s (Jeremy Irvine & Hera Hilmar) romantic retreat on a hot air balloon takes a terrifying turn when they are hijacked by a sinister third passenger with a link to Zach’s past. As the mystery of their secret relationship is revealed, their spectacular ride becomes a brutal mental chess match and a lethal battle high in the sky. Kelsey Grammer leads a brilliant cast in this psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last moment. Turbulence is directed by Swiss filmmaker Claudio Fäh, director of the movies Coronado, Hollow Man II, Sniper: Reloaded, Northmen: A Viking Saga, Beyond Valkyrie, Sniper: Ultimate Kill, No Way Up, and also the series “Wilder”. The screenplay is written by Andy Mayson. Produced by Richard J. Berthy, Amanda Bowers, Molly Conners, Andy Mayson. Lionsgate will debut Fäh’s Turbulence movie in select US theaters + on VOD starting December 12th, 2025 coming up. Look scary?

Jeremy Strong on ‘Springsteen’ and Mark Zuckerberg

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

While Oscar nominee Jeremy Strong (“The Apprentice”) could be back at the Oscars for the second year in a row for his subtle, moving performance as manager Jon Landau in “Bruce Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” he’s neither rooting for himself nor for another character actor he admires, Sean Penn in “One Battle After Another.” As a member of this year’s Cannes jury, Strong is an unabashed fan of Norway’s Cannes prize-winning Oscar entry, “Sentimental Value.” “Give Stellan Skarsgård the Oscar, please,” he said as we sat down at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles.

I can’t help but notice his rusty, close-cropped haircut. He’s in prep to play Mark Zuckerberg in writer/director Aaron Sorkin’s sequel to 2010’s “The Social Network,” “The Social Reckoning” (October 9, 2026), set 17 years later and without Jesse Eisenberg. It covers a stretch between 2018 and 2021, when Facebook moved from “move fast and break things,” said Strong, to “move fast with stable infrastructure. This also tells the story of the Wall Street Journal’s reporting on the Facebook Files.” (He reunites with Jeremy Allen White, who plays Springsteen in “Deliver Me from Nowhere.”)

Linda Blair in 'Exorcist II: The Heretic'

As soon as Strong got wind of a follow-up to “The Social Network,” he told Sorkin that he had always wanted to play Zuckerberg. Strong played Jerry Rubin in Best Picture nominee “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” which Sorkin wrote and directed, and starred in Sorkin’s directorial debut “Molly’s Game.” “The Social Reckoning” screenplay is “one of the best scripts I’ve ever read,” said Strong. “It touches the third rail, the axis of much of the issues and maladies of our time.”

Per usual, Strong is hoovering up everything he can about Zuckerberg. His prep, influenced by early mentor Daniel Day-Lewis, involves a “deep dive on everything,” he said, “trying to understand and defend a point of view of a character, what it is they believe in, what they’re fighting for, maybe understand what might be blind spots. But the most important thing for me is an empathic connection to a person. We live in an age when there’s a lot of judgment, a lot of maligning of people. We would all do well to walk a day in anybody’s shoes before casting aspersions and judgment.”

Zuckerberg, who at 41 is still running Facebook, is “a real person with a family,” said Strong, who is 46 and has three kids. “He is someone who has shaped the world we live in. I feel an enormous responsibility for accuracy and understanding.”

Zuckerberg is just one of a gallery of real people that Strong has taken on, including powerbroker Roy Cohn, one of the most maligned figures in New York, who Strong not only made believable but empathetic in “The Apprentice.” “I find Roy’s journey a tragic journey,” he said. “I find Kendall Roy’s journey [in the Emmy-winning ‘Succession’], even though he’s a composite character, a tragic journey.”

Day-Lewis gave Strong “a kind of permission,” he said, “by witnessing a level of commitment and a level of preparation and courage and a willingness to just go way the fuck out on the limb,” he said. Strong also admires Anthony Hopkins, his co-star on James Gray’s “Armageddon Time,” who has played Richard Nixon, Adolf Hitler, Pablo Picasso, C.S. Lewis, and John Quincy Adams. Strong is drawn to historic characters, he said: “Those are the best stories with the most complex stories and the highest stakes.”

In “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” Strong plays a real person, Jon Landau, an influential music critic who proclaimed Springsteen as the future of rock in the pages of Rolling Stone and quietly and firmly, behind the scenes, helped his friend to manage his career and recover from debilitating depression. The film is set during the 1982 recording of “Nebraska,” a bare-bones acoustic album of dark songs that Springsteen needed to get off his chest before he could publish such rock anthems as “Born in the U.S.A.,” which he had already written, that would make him a rock legend.

Having gotten to work closely with Springsteen on “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” Strong is a fan: “I’ve just come out of this press conference with Bruce, who gives 10,000 percent. I admire him perhaps more than I admire anyone on this earth: his humility, his devotion, his commitment. It’s about how much he gives, his sincerity, his generosity of spirit.”

Movingly, “Deliver Me from Nowhere” shows how Landau cares for Springsteen and stands up for him at a time when he needs support. “At this moment in time, 1982, it is not a given that Bruce would go on to be the Bruce Springsteen we know him to be today,” said Strong, “simply because of his struggles with mental health and depression, as William Styron said, ‘a darkness visible,’ and that darkness was pressing down on him, and he did not have the equipment internally to handle it. It’s not something anyone can handle on their own.”

A few years older than Springsteen, Landau “was a father figure to Bruce at this time,” said Strong, “had been in therapy, had had a broader education, was steeped in literature and the history of art and the history of music, and he was able to help Bruce take this step to getting professional help. He was almost like a therapist himself, and he understood that the only way out is through. This movie that Scott Cooper has made is the story of Bruce shaking hands with his own past, his trauma, the wounds that we all carry and that often remain untreated or buried. And so this is about the album ‘Nebraska,’ the unearthing of that trauma and the repairing of trauma through art.”

“Nebraska” also marked a moment in time before Springsteen was about to hit big. “James Baldwin once used the phrase ‘trying to find an honest place to stand,’” said Strong. “Bruce was looking to find that honest place to stand. He was lost in the vortex of this world that we’re in, the pressures and expectations of success, fame. And Bruce needed to locate. Bruce said once that all of his songs are about a person trying to find and save some part of himself. And Bruce, at this time in 1982, needed to find and save some part of himself. And Jon Landau had the compassion, love, devotion, depth of understanding, and insight to support and enable that.”

Landau also had to be savvy enough to manage CBS Records. It’s surprising the executives went along with “Nebraska” at all. Landau had to coax them into it. “‘The River’ was a massive album,” said Strong, “but he wasn’t yet in the stratosphere that he then went on to be. When Jon Landau goes into Columbia Records and sits down with Al Teller, people listen to Jon Landau. He had an authority, but he also was a bodyguard for what is sacred. Jon was perceiving what was essential in that record and why it was essential for fertilizing the growth of Bruce Springsteen, the artist. He was not perceiving in a calculated way why this would or wouldn’t be a savvy career move — not that he didn’t give a shit about career, because he did.”

Strong and Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen bonded effectively to create this close relationship. “Easily and almost without words,” said Strong. “I’ve admired Jeremy for a long time. Part of what you do is you create a dynamic that mirrors a dynamic, and it was easy for me to feel a devotion and a love for Jeremy, also given what was at stake, similar to Sebastian [Stan] having to play Donald Trump, a character that is an iconic, monolithic character. You are vulnerable. You are up there like Philippe Petit, walking on that high wire. So it was easy for me to feel a solicitude, a protectiveness, and an empathy and care for him. You look after him a bit without words, let him know that you’re there for him, which is what Jon does. They don’t talk a lot.”

One key scene between the two men involves a piece of music, instigated by Strong. “In the early ’70s, they used to come over to each other’s house and listen to records,” said Strong. “They would play each other music all night. And it was the night before we were shooting this scene, where Jon goes over to Bruce’s house in Colts Neck, a beautifully scripted scene where they say the things that they’re feeling to each other. Jon expresses his deep concern for Bruce, his wish for what the road trip will be. I felt a sense that the Jon that I had come to understand might not have worded all those things as overtly, and I had an instinct that maybe I should play him a song in the scene. I sent Bruce and Jon some texts. I asked them: ‘I’m thinking of playing a record for you in the scene tomorrow. If you were going to play a song, if you were trying to save your friend’s life, what song would you play?’”

The three men exchanged texts for three hours. Strong listened to each song suggestion. Springsteen went to bed. About 45 minutes later, he texted Strong and Landau: Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers’ “Last Mile of the Way.” “I listened to it,” said Strong, “and was floored. It’s emotionally huge, and it’s the story of the movie. It’s about passing through a dark valley before you get to arrive somewhere.”

The next day, Scott Cooper shot the scene as scripted. Strong had secretly asked the sound mixer and prop department to prepare a cassette with the song on it and have the boom box in the room. And after they shot the scene, he said, “Scott, can I try something?” And Cooper said, “Can you tell me what it is?” And I said, “No, I’d rather not.”

Strong also asked White if he wanted to know what he was going to do. He said, “No.” “That’s what’s in the movie,” said Strong. “It’s a big-budget Disney studio movie, but it has a Cassavetes soul. There’s a spiritual dimension to that song and that sequence in the movie. It captured something about them and their essence and their journey.”

Next up: Strong plays the lead in the remake of “The Boys from Brazil,” a limited series written by Peter Morgan (“The Crown”). “It’s a five-hour film that Bob Elswit is shooting, an allegory of the rise of fascism in the world.” Also in the works is a Paramount six-hour limited series created by Tobias Lindholm about September 11 first responders. “There’s an embarrassment of riches right now,” said Strong, “and I don’t take it for granted.”

Jeremy Renner came close to death during his January 2023 snowplow accident — maybe too close. In his memoir My Next Breath, published on April 29, 2025, the Marvel star revealed that he believes he briefly died while waiting for emergency responders after being crushed by his 14,000-pound snowplow.

During his appearance on CBS Mornings that same day, the Mayor of Kingstown actor opened up about his hesitation to write the book, saying he “didn’t think it was valuable” at first. “I lived it. It was a private incident that happened in my driveway. Why does anybody care about it?” he said. “But the act of writing it — what I want people to take away from the book [is] getting out of your own way is quite important to achieve and get anything you want in your life. … I knew it was valuable. It would be silly of me not to share it.”

In an October 2025 interview with the New York Post ahead of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, Renner reflected on how far he’s come since the accident. “Season 3 was the one where I was pretty affected… This season, I’m much stronger, much clearer, happier, more awake and attentive.”

Below, learn what happened to Jeremy and find out his perspective on what really happened to him.

What Happened to Jeremy Renner?

While in Nevada on January 1, 2023, Jeremy was operating his snowcat and prevented his nephew from being run over by the 14,000-pound rig. As a result, Jeremy was plowed by the machine and had to be airlifted to a hospital. He was treated in the intensive care unit and was released from the hospital nearly three weeks later.

Within three months of his accident, Jeremy was able to walk with a cane and gradually rebuild his strength for public appearances and to return to work.

Jeremy Renner’s Snowplow Accident Injuries

Jeremy broke 38 bones as a result of the snowplow accident on New Year’s Day in 2023. Among the most serious injuries were a collapsed lung.

Jeremy Renner’s Injury Photos Post-Accident

Days after he was hospitalized, Jeremy started sharing moments to Instagram from his journey to regain his strength.

Did Jeremy Renner Actually Die From His Snowplow Accident?

Jeremy claims in his book, My Next Breath, that he died and that no one in his family knew it at the time.

“As I lay on the ice, my heart rate slowed, and right there, on that New Year’s Day, unknown to my daughter, my sisters, my friends, my father, my mother, I just got tired,” the Hawkeye alum wrote in one excerpt of the memoir. “After about 30 minutes on the ice of breathing manually for so long, an effort akin to doing 10 or 20 push-ups per minute for half an hour . . . that’s when I died. I died, right there on the driveway to my house.”

Though we may never know if Jeremy’s heart did, in fact, stop that day, he insisted in the book that it’s true.

“I know I died—in fact, I’m sure of it,” the actor elaborated. “When the EMTs arrived, they noted that my heart rate had bottomed out at 18, and at 18 beats per minute, you’re basically dead.”

Despite the frightening incident, Jeremy noted in his book that he was at an “exhilarating peace” during the near-death experience.

“When I died, what I felt was energy, a constantly connected, beautiful and fantastic energy,” Jeremy added. “There was no time, place, or space, and nothing to see, except a kind of electric, two-way vision made from strands of that inconceivable energy. … I was in space: no sound, no wind, nothing save this extraordinary electricity by which I am connected to everybody and anything, anyone and everything. I am in every given moment, in one instant, magnified to a number ungovernable by math.”

Jeremy added, “What came to me on that ice was an exhilarating peace, the most profound adrenaline rush, yet an entirely tranquil one at the same time: electric serenity. I can still feel that space, silent, still, empty, but filled with every instant and all the forevers and, for the first time ever, my existence has nothing to do with time. It was an entirely beautiful place, filled with a knowable magic.”

“I don’t want to fight.” “None of us do.” Watermelon Pictures has unveiled their own full US trailer for the acclaimed film Palestine 36, made by Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir as her fourth feature. This is Palestine’s submission to the Oscars this year and it will open in January. This first premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last month, and it next plays at AFI Fest and the Denver Film Festival. The film is set during the years 1936 – 1939 following a man going between Jerusalem and his rural home amid escalating unrest with the British Empire rulers at the time. This is just before the Holocaust and the British Mandate in 1947 & 1948 that would lead to the creation of the State of Israel after 1945. Back in 1936, as Palestinian villages revolt against British colonial rule, Yusuf navigates between Jerusalem and his home during unrest and a pivotal moment for the British Empire just before the start of World War II. The historical drama stars Hiam Abbass, Saleh Bakri, Robert Aramayo, Billy Howle, Liam Cunningham, Yasmine Al-Massri, Dafer L’Abidine, Yumna Marwan, Karim Daoud Anaya, & Jeremy Irons as Commissioner Wauchope. This is a better trailer than the other one we posted recently. I really want to see it! Take a look.

You can also view the other UK trailer for Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36 film right here for more footage.

Intro from TIFF: “Rare archival footage sets the stage, providing a potent counterpoint to the dramatic action: Jerusalem’s bustling mix of peoples in the wake of the Ottoman Empire’s dissolution, migration of European Jews fleeing the Nazis, and British attempts to impose colonial rule. In the midst of this, Yusuf (Karim Daoud Anaya) shunts between his traditional village & the rapidly changing city. Afra (Wardi Eilabouni) tries to navigate change with the aid of her grandmother (Hiam Abbass). A dissatisfied port worker (Saleh Bakri) finds the pressures of earning a living and supporting his family drawing him into a rebel movement. Can British officialdom, represented powerfully by Irons, even keep up?” Palestine 36, also known as فلسطين ٣٦ in Arabic, is written and directed by the Palestinian filmmaker Annemarie Jacir, director of the films Salt of This Sea, When I Saw You, Wajib, and episodes of the series “Ramy” previously. It’s produced by Ossama Bawardi, Cat Villiers, Azzam Fakhreddin, Hani Farsi, Nils Åstrand, Olivier Barbier, Nathanaël Karmitz, Katrin Pors, Hamza Ali. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall. Watermelon Pictures will debut Palestine 36 in US theaters starting January 2026. Who’s interested?

With the highly anticipated Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere set to hit big screens this week, 20th Century Studios and Columbia Records have detailed the movie’s original motion picture soundtrack, which is set for release on December 5th across digital, CD, and vinyl. Pre-orders are ongoing.

The soundtrack features lead actor Jeremy Allen White singing nine Springsteen classics from the film. The tracklist also boasts a trio of performances from Jake Kiszka & Sam F. Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet, Jay Buchanan, Aksel Coe, and Bobby Emmett.

The first five tracks from the album will be available on the same day as the movie opens in theaters on Friday, October 24th: “Nebraska,” “Atlantic City,” “Mansion on the Hill,” “I’m on Fire,” and “Born in the U.S.A. (Power Station).” See the full tracklist below.

Bruce Springsteen himself was supportive of White handling vocals in the making of the film, with the actor recently telling CBS News that “one of the most beautiful things he did was really give me permission to bring myself to it…. I still can’t believe, you know, I don’t know. I still can’t believe we got started. I can’t believe he gave our blessing in the first place.”

In addition to White as Springsteen, the cast features Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Marc Maron, Gabby Hoffman, Stephen Graham, and Johnny Cannizzaro. The film delves into the making of Springsteen’s Nebraska album in 1982.

To coincide with the film’s release, Springsteen has announced Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition, a five-disc collection featuring a remastered version of the original album, the fabled electric version of Nebraska, solo outtakes from the era, and a newly shot performance film of the album captured at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. Pre-orders are now ongoing.

It will continue to play at more festivals – no US release date is set yet. Stay tuned for more. Intrigued?

EXCLUSIVE: The Walt Disney Company will once again receive the documentary treatment in Chronicles of Disney, a forthcoming feature from Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou.

The film presents a “personal and intimate exploration of the legacy of the Walt Disney Company, told through the voices of the artists, artisans, and collaborators who have shaped its magic for generations.”

Contributors to the doc include Jeremy Renner, who discusses how his recovery following a near-fatal accident was inspired by his desire to complete the Disney+ series Rennervations. Other talking heads include two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges, Oscar–winning makeup artist Bill Corso, and Oscar nominees Donald Mowat and Camille Friend.

Also joining them are Valorie Wiggins, a veteran trailer editor, and Andy Henry, a second-generation Disney projectionist. The doc also features an original score composed by Renner and Zhou.

Yi Zhou is a filmmaker and artist. Her video works have been shown at the Shanghai Biennale, Venice Biennale, Sundance Film Festival, and Cannes Film Festival.

Chronicles of Disney is produced by Zhou’s Into the Sun Entertainment label. The movie will be released in theaters via Colors of the Sun Ventures and Moon Prism Entertainment on October 17.

Watch Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White Discuss Their New Movie on Kimmel

Last night (October 2), both Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White sat down on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss their respective work careers and where those paths now cross: the upcoming biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. During the TV show segment, White talked about what it was like to portray the Boss while Springsteen watched him on set, Springsteen talked about his upcoming Nebraska ’82 box set with the long-rumored electric version of the album, and more. Watch it go down below.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere hits theaters on October 24. The film follows Springsteen during the creation of his 1982 album Nebraska. The movie also stars Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s manager; Marc Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin; Johnny Cannizzaro as Steven Van Zandt; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham as Bruce Springsteen’s father, Doug; Odessa Young as a love interest name Faye; Gaby Hoffman as Springsteen’s mother, Adele; and David Krumholtz as Columbia Records executive Al Teller.

Long sought-after by fans, Electric Nebraska is the informal title of the album that Springsteen and the E Street Band recorded in 1982 from a collection of demos for his follow-up to The River. Preferring his originals, Springsteen ended up scrapping the full-band versions and instead released the stripped-down versions we now know as Nebraska – with a few electric songs being held back to appear on the later release Born in the U.S.A. Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition arrives October 17 via Sony.

Read Mark Richardson’s review of Nebraska and see where the album lands in “The 200 Best Albums of the 1980s.
