On November 11, Ortega stepped out in New York City wearing a glamorously slouchy take on the combination, which starred an oversized robe coat that extended past her gloved hands. In fact, the outer layer almost completely shrouded her grey turtleneck and wide-leg jeans to the point where you could only see her denim’s oversized stiff cuffs, which themselves engulfed her platform boots.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston proved following trends doesn’t have to look trendy during her latest outing with boyfriend Jim Curtis. On November 14, Aniston and Curtis met up with her longtime stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, and her husband for a double date night at Pace Restaraunt in Los Angeles. It’s unclear if Aniston sent pics of her rainy-day look to Mizrahi ahead of dinner, but we’re sure the fashion expert approved of Anniston’s classic ensemble.

Soft goth makeup has taken over Instagram, with over a million views on tutorials, and we have no doubts as to why: it gives that effortlessly moody, cool-girl vibe without looking like a costume. From musician Billie Eilish’s dramatic stage looks to singer-songwriter Rosalía’s romantic, cinematic makeup, stars are experimenting with smoky eyes, sculpted cheekbones, and deep lips.

The trend is more about smoky shadows, neutral skin, and a statement lip that feels effortless.

But what exactly is soft goth?

This trend tones down the drama of classic goth makeup, creating a modern, wearable look that balances edge with elegance. If the full goth look is all-black everything and heavy liner, soft goth is its chill, fashion-forward cousin. It’s more about smoky shadows, neutral skin, and a statement lip that feels effortless.

Before becoming an internet trend, goth makeup had a rich history. Emerging in the late 1970s as punk faded away, it drew on Victorian fashion, old horror films, and gothic literature, emphasising pale skin, dark eyes, and a sense of dramatic rebellion. By the 1990s, movies like The Craft (1996) gave goth beauty a cinematic, sensual edge. Today, the style has evolved into a modern, polished, and wearable everyday look.

Why is everyone suddenly into it?

“Soft goth fits perfectly with today’s mood. After years of glowing skin and glossy pink cheeks, people are ready for something different. There’s a craving for depth, texture, and emotion in beauty again. And soft goth makeup hits that sweet spot,” says makeup artist Yamini Grover.

Pop culture has played a huge role in its comeback. Actor Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams look made dark eyes and pale lips feel cool again. Musicians like Billie Eilish and Adela keep the vibe alive with their moody, otherworldly styles. Even fashion runways have gone darker, with models wearing diffused smoky eyes, matte skin, and shades of greige lipstick.

Use a matte or semi-matte foundation for a smooth, even finish. Keep your complexion neutral rather than overly bronzed or dewy.

The Wednesday star’s departure raised eyebrows because it was shortly after Melissa was fired. Initial reports claimed that Jenna left due to scheduling conflicts, but was that the truth?

How Many Scream Movies Was Jenna Ortega in?

Jenna stars in two of the Scream franchise movies: the 2022 and 2023 films.

Why Is Jenna Ortega Not in Scream 7?

Initially, it was reported that Jenna left Scream 7 due to scheduling conflicts with other productions, such as Wednesday. However, the actress revealed the truth during an April 2025 interview with The Cut.

“It had nothing to do with pay or scheduling,” Jenna told the publication. “The Melissa stuff was happening, and it was all kind of falling apart. … “If Scream VII wasn’t going to be with that team of directors and those people I fell in love with, then it didn’t seem like the right move for me in my career at the time.”

Not only did filmmaker Christopher Landon leave the film, but directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin also stepped down after Jenna exited. .

Why Was Melissa Barrera Fired From Scream 7?

Melissa was fired by Spyglass Media because of her public statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict. One of her Instagram Stories in 2023 included a message that read, “Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity, no water … People have learnt nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it all happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”

Spyglass subsequently released a statement to Variety after firing Melissa from Scream 7. It read, “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion, or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

Who Is in the Scream 7 Cast?

Only two of the “Core Four” from 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI are in Scream 7: Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin.

The rest of the Scream 7 cast features the original final girl, Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, in addition to Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher.

Other featured stars include Scott Foley, who played Roman in Scream 3, and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface. Also, Isabel May, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry and Asa Germann.

Last night, at InStyle’s Imagemaker Awards, Ortega opted for something a little different. Don’t get me wrong, with those bleached eyebrows, it’s still very much giving ethereal creature of the night, but this veered more romantic. More Du Maurier than Poe. Ortega wore a sheer lilac gown from Amiri’s spring 2026 collection, which features delicate, leaf-like beading, a see-through bodice, and thigh-high slit. She paired it with a fluffy oxblood coat, platform sandals in metallic silver, and a mirrored silver, boxy clutch bag. Melendez posed with Ortega on the red carpet in a similarly toned red suit.

The really cool thing about this bag, which features a silver buckle on its single shoulder strap, is that it’s actually reversible. Jenna Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez clearly have a keen eye for affordable carry-alls, from under-$100 options to mid-range luxury finds. Earlier this summer, Glamour noted Ortega had become quite fond of Hammitt, a Los Angeles-based designer bag brand known for crafting small batches of high-quality, moderately-priced leather accessories.

On May 3, she was seen toting around the brand’s slouchy black hobo bag with gunmetal hardware before switching to one of their smaller shoulder bags for a concert later that night. “I think I stole this from my stylist, Enrique, during a fitting,” she later told Vogue of her $575 Tom Bag, adding, “I like it because it’s got this red interior and I like the black and red combo.”

All in on the chocolate suede bag trend? No problem. Ortega was recently seen carrying a mid-sized version of the Tom bag that fits the bill for $495. While that’s certainly not cheap, it’s more on par with Coach and Staud than The Row or Miu Miu.
