Disney+ has partnered Korean entertainment conglomerate CJ ENM to bring their originals on the Tving platform to the Japanese market.

From November 5 onwards, Disney+ Japan will offer up to 60 Tving titles and CJ ENM series, including Guardian: The Lonely and Great God and Reply 1988.

Thriller series Dear X, starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae and Kim Do-hoon, will also stream exclusively on Disney+ in Japan on November 6, simultaneous with its Korea debut.

Tving’s Korean content will add to Disney+’s current Korean slate, which includes hits like Moving, The Worst of Evil and Tempest.

Additionally, Disney+ Japan will add a dedicated feature on the platform’s home page, branded as “TVING Highlights,” sitting alongside Disney+’s franchises, blockbuster hits and premium originals.

Subscribers can also access a curated “TVING Collection” hub, which brings all of the Korean streamer’s titles together in one place.

“As we celebrate five years of Disney+ in Japan, we remain committed to expanding our content offerings to reflect the diverse preferences of audiences,” said Tamotsu Hiiro, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. “This collaboration with CJ ENM and TVING is a significant step forward in that journey. By combining CJ ENM and TVING’s compelling Korean storytelling with Disney+’s world-class portfolio of global blockbusters and local hits, we’re creating a richer viewing experience for viewers of all generations.”

Julie Choi, CEO of TVING, added: “Our partnership with Disney, which has a strong presence and deep history in Japan, is an opportunity to most effectively present TVING content to local viewers. We will continue to deliver compelling K-content to global audiences. Through this partnership with Disney, we aim to grow beyond Korea’s No.1 OTT into a truly global K-OTT platform.”

Tony Zameczkowski, Senior Vice President and General Manager, DTC (Direct-to-Consumer), Asia Pacific, The Walt Disney Company, said: “This collaboration with CJ ENM and TVING marks a pivotal moment in our regional content and partnership strategy.

“As Korean storytelling continues to captivate global audiences, we’re proud to bring CJ ENM and TVING’s most compelling series to Disney+ viewers in Japan. This partnership not only strengthens our Korean content offering but is the beginning of a broader opportunity to deepen our connection with audiences in one of the world’s most dynamic streaming markets.”

Kenshi Yonezu’s “IRIS OUT” extends its run at No.1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for a sixth straight week, topping the chart dated Oct. 29.

The Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc theme leads four metrics this week: — downloads, streaming, video views, and karaoke. Downloads dipped 26% from the week before, but the song returns to No. 1 on the metric for the first time in three weeks. Radio airplay continued to build for a second week, rising to 127% of last week’s points.

Yonezu’s previous longest consecutive streak at No. 1 was the five-week run of “Lemon” in January 2019 (seven total weeks at the summit). With “IRIS OUT,” he now sets a new personal record for consecutive weeks at the top.

Radio saw the sharpest increase, jumping to 655% of last week’s points.

At No. 3 is “JANE DOE” by Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada, rising a spot from last week. Karaoke increased to 108% of the previous week. HANA’s “My Body” climbs two notches to No. 4 as the breakout girl group places seven songs on the chart this week, including “Blue Jeans” at No. 6 and “ROSE” at No. 14.

Yonezu’s “1991” settles at No. 5, down two positions. The track comes in at No. 3 for streaming, No. 6 for downloads, No. 8 for video, and No. 14 for radio.

Elsewhere in the top 10, CLASS SEVEN’s first single “miss you” bows at No. 9, selling 18,522 CDs to place No. 4 for sales, while hitting No. 2 for radio and No. 89 for downloads. CUTIE STREET’s “We Can’t Stop Suddenly!” returns to the tally for the first time in about three months, charting at No. 10. The CD sold 50,567 copies to hit No. 2 for sales.

Japan Set As 2026 Country Of Honor At Cannes Marché Du Film

Japan Set As 2026 Country Of Honor At Cannes Marché Du Film

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

The Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film has unveiled Japan as the Country of Honour for its 2026 edition next May.

The Marché du Film’s Executive Director Guillaume Esmiol officially announced the choice at the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) on Tuesday, alongside Junichi Sakomoto, Chair of the Executive Committee for Japan, Country of Honour 2026.

News of the focus was teased at Tokyo’s opening night, with a promise of more details during the festival.

As Country of Honour, Japan will open the 2026 edition by co-hosting the Marché du Film’s Opening Night and then have a special place in Marché du Film’s programs, including its panels, networking events and project showcases putting the spotlight on Japanese animation and genre cinema.

Other key initiatives include a summit on Japan’s film industry to foster collaboration and innovation, and a special screening day dedicated to Japanese cinema.

Through its participation, Japan aims to build strong professional networks with the international film community and promote its film and content industries for future success in global markets.

With over 120 years of filmmaking history, Japan stands as one of the world’s most influential film nations.

Its legacy spans legendary names such as Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujirō Ozu and 1980 Cannes Palme d’Or winner Akira Kurosawa to contemporary auteurs such as Hirokazu Kore-eda, Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Naomi Kawase and emerging names such as Chie Hayakawa, who continue to fly the flag in Cannes’ Official Selection to this day.

The Marché du Film pointed to the country’s robust film industry which it said produced around 1,200 films annually.

It also highlighted the health of its theatrical sector drawing 150 million cinemagoers each year, representing an overall gross of $1.3, suggesting this demonstrated resilience in an era defined by digitalization and an ever-growing range of entertainment choices.

The 2026 focus will build on Japan’s close relationship with the Marché du Film, where Japanese sales companies are among the most established in the Palais des Festivals, while the Japan Pavilion, coordinated by UniJapan, has been a long-standing fixture at the Village International.

““We are truly delighted and proud that Japan has been selected as the Country of Honour. It presents a wonderful opportunity to showcase the appeal of Japanese cinema on a global stage. We look forward to seeing Japan’s rich film culture, along with its emerging talents and technologies, shine even brighter internationally and contribute to the advancement of cinema both in Japan and around the world,” said Sakomoto.

Esmiol added: “Japan holds a unique place in international cinema, and its creative legacy continues to inspire generations of filmmakers. It also holds a unique place at the Marché du Film, as one of the most represented and dynamic countries, with highly active sales companies and producers. On a more personal note: as someone with Japanese roots, it’s a beautiful opportunity to pay tribute to my cultural heritage.”

Japan’s participation will be organized by the Executive Committee for Japan, Country of Honour 2026, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Specific program details and participating institutions will be announced in early 2026.

Japan follows Brazil (2025), Switzerland (2024), Spain (2023) and India (2022) as the fifth Country of Honour, an initiative launched by the Marché du Film to recognize nations for their outstanding contributions to the global film industry and to foster international exchange and collaboration.

The 2026 Marché du Film will open May 12 and run until May 20, while the Cannes Film Festival will run until May 23.

Fashion People Are Swapping Sambas For Adidas’ Japan Trainers

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Sure, I work in fashion and track trends for a living, but even if I didn’t, I have no doubt this trend would have made its way onto my radar in due course. A fresh contender within Adidas’ extensive archive, the Japan Trainer is quietly shaping up to rival the Samba this season. With its slim, streamlined profile, it feels sharper and more in tune with this year’s appetite for pared-back, retro silhouettes—picking up right where the Samba’s reign left off.

First launched in 1964 for the Tokyo Olympics, the Japan was designed with athletic minimalism in mind. Decades later, the silhouette has been faithfully reissued, and in the last few seasons it’s found new relevance—becoming one of Adidas’ most talked-about heritage revivals.

Available in a spectrum of colourways—from rich burgundies and electric cobalts to timeless blacks and whites—the Japan Trainer taps directly into the tones set to dominate the next six months. Styles range from smooth leather to perforated finishes, offering subtle variations that make them easy to fold into any wardrobe.

Influencer @wearetwinset wears Adidas Japan Trainers with a denim shirt and barrel leg jeans.

And the fashion world has noticed. Kendall Jenner was recently spotted in a pair, and the style is steadily gaining traction among editors and influencers. If the Samba defined the last few years, the Japan is positioning itself as the next great low-profile sneaker to know.

So if, like me, you’re hunting for a trainer trend with staying power, read on to shop Adidas Japan trainers below.
