“You have to create a new mankind… all we have is you.” Netflix has unveiled a first look teaser trailer for The Great Flood, a new disaster movie from Korea about a massive flood destroying the world. This one is premiering at the 2025 Busan Film Festival later this week, which is why this teaser has launched now. On what may be the last day on Earth, a life-or-death struggle in a flooded apartment becomes humanity’s one & only hope for survival. When a raging flood traps a researcher & her young son, a call to a crucial mission puts their escape—and the future of humanity—on the line. The Great Flood is a sci-fi disaster blockbuster film following those holding onto the last shred of hope for humanity to survive in a flooded building on the last day on Earth. Starring Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo. There’s also some kind of Artificial Intelligence subplot to this, but it’s hard to discern if that’s because they need her to store all of humanity’s data on some servers somewhere in a safe bunker. Intense! The massive waves remind me of the disaster movie 2012 – we haven’t seen anything like this in a while. I’ll be watching when it’s out later this year! Check out the footage.

Here’s the first look teaser trailer for Byung-woo Kim’s film The Great Flood, from Netflix’s YouTube:

The Great Flood Teaser Trailer

The Great Flood Teaser Poster

A great flood has hit planet Earth. Many people, including An Na (Kim Da-mi) and Hee-jo (Park Hae-soo), struggle to survive inside their apartment building, which is sinking into the water. An Na is an AI development researcher and Hee Jo belongs to a human resource security team, who is trying to save An Na from the disaster. But why is Hee Jo trying to save An Na and who is behind it? The Great Flood, also known as 대홍수 or Daehongsu, is written and directed by Korean filmmaker Byung-woo Kim, director of the movies Written, The Terror Live, Take Point, and Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy previously, and the series “Reborn” recently. Produced by Hwansang Studio Seoul. This is premiering at the 2025 Busan Film Festival in South Korea coming up this month. Netflix then debuts Byung-woo Kim’s The Great Flood movie streaming on Netflix worldwide starting December 19th, 2025 later this year. Looks scary? Who’s down?

Madhuri Dixit is one of the most gorgeous actresses in the Indian film industry. Many might have had a crush on the actress and must have felt weak in the knees while working with her. But can you imagine the diva feeling shy about doing intimate and intense scenes? It happened with her when she was paired opposite Naseeruddin Shah in Dedh Ishqiya. Scroll below for the deets.

It was directed by Abhishek Chaubey and is the sequel to Ishqiya. Naseeruddin and Arshad Warsi paired again for the sequel. Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz also played supporting roles. Although it was critically acclaimed, the movie failed miserably at the box office. Madhuri played the role of Begum Para. The actress once shared how she felt shy about doing certain scenes with Naseeruddin Shah.

Madhuri Dixit Recalls Feeling Shy With Naseeruddin Shah In Dedh Ishqiya

According to Bollywood Bubble‘s report, Madhuri Dixit confessed, “I was not nervous working with him. His eyes had an intense feeling. Whenever we did intense scenes, I was feeling shy. He is a natural actor; you just have to react when you act with him.” The actress continued, “I was comfortable working with him. I was just playing the character… had fun.”

The report further quoted, “I had seen ‘Ishqiya’ and had loved it. They approached me for the sequel… I loved my character and the story very much. It was a tight script with romance, trust, betrayal, and other elements. We shot in remote areas… Traveled almost two hours… Shot in dirty locations. We all worked very hard, and it was great fun with the team.”

Madhuri Dixit and Naseeruddin Shah worked together in 1996’s Rajkumar. She was also amazed by Shah’s talent and reportedly forgot her lines during a scene. According to AhmedabadMirror, in a resurfaced video, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress said, “When I shot my first scene with him, in the very first scene when he started talking, he is such a good actor. He started talking so naturally that I forgot my lines. For one, two minutes, I went blank. Then, of course, we picked it up, but he has done an incredible job in this film. He has two shades in the film, contrasting completely opposite personalities. He is brilliant in the film.”

Can neck pain lead to an intense headache? Neurologist explains why it happens and how to deal with it

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

If you have ever felt a throbbing headache that starts at the base of your skull and travels up your head, your neck might be to blame. A lesser-known but significant cause of headaches is cervicogenic pain, headaches that originate from issues in the neck. Unlike migraines or tension headaches, these are secondary headaches, meaning they result from an underlying problem, often involving the spine or muscles in the neck. Long hours hunched over screens, poor posture, or even sleeping the wrong way can be enough to trigger this condition. We spoke to Dr Sheetal Goyal, consultant neurologist at Wockhardt Hospitals, who explains how neck pain and headaches can be more closely linked than you might think.

What is a cervicogenic headache?

A cervicogenic headache is a type of headache that starts in the neck and radiates to the head. Unlike primary headaches like migraines or tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches are secondary, meaning they result from another medical issue, specifically, problems in the cervical spine (neck).

“With a cervicogenic headache, the pain you feel in your head originates from the bony structures or soft tissues in your neck. It is a type of secondary headache, which is a headache caused by an underlying problem in your neck,” explains Dr Goyal to Health Shots.

In many cases, this is a form of referred pain, where the actual problem lies in one part of the body, but the discomfort is felt elsewhere. So, while the pain may feel like it is in your head, the root cause is actually your neck.

What are the symptoms of cervicogenic headache?

Cervicogenic headaches often begin with stiffness or tightness in the neck, followed by pain that spreads to the back of the head, the temples, or even behind the eyes. “This pain can be moderate to severe, but it won’t be extremely painful,” says Dr Goyal. You may also experience:

  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Limited range of motion in the neck

The headache may worsen with certain neck movements or when pressure is applied at the base of the skull. These symptoms can be easily overlooked or mistaken for a migraine or tension headache, which makes awareness and proper diagnosis all the more important.

Is poor posture the only cause of cervicogenic headache?

Poor posture is a major contributor, but not the only one. Long hours slouching over desks, laptops, or phones can strain the neck and upper spine. However, other factors include:

  • Sleeping in an unnatural position
  • Whiplash or sudden jerky neck movements
  • Cervical arthritis
  • Disc issues in the neck
  • Muscle strain

“Those who work for extended periods leaning forward over a computer or phone are particularly susceptible, as the frequent forward bend places constant stress on the cervical spine,” suggests Dr Goyal.

Neglecting these signs can lead to chronic neck issues, recurring headaches, and even reduced mobility over time. Long-term strain can also weaken neck muscles and reduce flexibility.

How to manage or treat cervicogenic headache at home?

Mild cases of cervicogenic headache can often be managed with simple, at-home remedies:

  • Warm compress: It can help loosen tight muscles.
  • Gentle stretching: It improves flexibility and reduces stiffness.
  • Proper posture: Sit upright and use a pillow that supports the neck well.
  • Frequent breaks: Avoid sitting for too long. Instead, get up and stretch regularly.
  • Over-the-counter painkillers: OTC pain relief can help, but only for short-term use. Always take a doctor’s advice before consuming any painkillers.
  • Physical therapy: A daily exercise plan from a physiotherapist can strengthen neck muscles and prevent recurrence.

Remember that persistent pain should never be ignored, and relying solely on painkillers without addressing the underlying issue may offer only temporary relief.

Paul Greengrass’s Intense Wildfire Drama

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Paul Greengrass and Blumhouse might seem like an odd mix, the former perhaps best known for his meticulous, sensitive docudramas, the latter most famous for low-budget, high-yield genre movies. But though it has its roots in the real world, The Lost Bus — the director’s first film since his 2020 Western News of the World — is arguably his first horror movie, made all the more frightening after the wildfires that swept California earlier this year. Based on real events, it’s a true story of heroism that took place in Northern California just six years earlier during what’s now known as the Camp David fire.

The beginnings of it are depicted in true disaster movie style, with ominous music and a collapsing electric pylon that causes a faulty cable to fall to the ground. The blaze starts small but soon catches hold, and these scenes are right up there in Greengrass’s wheelhouse. We see what looks very much like professional fire-fighters playing themselves, mapping out the path of the fire — or is several fires? — and arguing about the threat it poses. “I don’t think it’s an issue,” says one. “It should be fine.” Famous last words indeed.

It’s all theory at this point, and Greengrass incrementally introduces the reality of such a dangerous fire, and the first men to try to douse the flames soon realize they’re about to be fighting a losing battle. Going into the wildfire is a like a portal into another world; aside from the vicious heat, a constant rain of sparks flies through the smoke-choked air, and not only is hard to see, it’s hard to breathe. All of this is rendered with stunning ease by his VFX team, in scenes that look like a news bulletin from the apocalypse. In this sense, the film has two locations: the sleepy, sunshine town of Paradise and the fiery hellscape of Dante’s Inferno. The effect is jarring, giving the effect of night and day (indeed, it takes a while to realise that all of this happening simultaneously).

Paradise is where we meet Kevin McCay (Matthew McConaughey), a single father who has returned to his hometown from Reno after his father’s death. Kevin has started work as a bus driver but finds himself at the end of the list when shifts are handed out. This is why, as the fire is just about to spin out of control, he agrees to pick up 23 children stranded at Ponderosa Elementary School, plus their teacher Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera). The fire has knocked out the bus’s comms and tracking system — hence the film’s title — leaving Kevin to battle the elements using only his and Mary’s intuition and common sense.

McConaughey starts out in usual mode; this could be his character from Mud with a few extra dollars in his pocket. He lives in a tumbledown comfort with a sick dog, his ailing mother and his son Shaun (Levi McConaughey). His relationship with Shaun is fraught, to say the least. As we see in an early scene, Kevin’s attempts to be a dad are lacklustre at best, and it ends with Shaun shouting, “I f*cking hate you. I wish you were dead.” These words are still ringing in Kevin’s ears when the disaster strikes, and the blaze takes on a more personal significance, a metaphor for Kevin’s mental state as he enters purgatory.

As with all Greengrass’s films, though, this is a film about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, which is no doubt what drew him to Brad Ingelby’s very human script. Once the chips are down, though, McConaughey effortlessly switches up to action mode, and the film starts to resemble a fever dream of Speed. Alongside him, the scared but somehow quietly reassuring presence of America Ferrera leavens the potential for cliched action-hero theatrics by giving the film a rare but for once very real sense of peril. The same goes for Ashlie Atkinson as bus controller Ruby, whose very human guilt is palpable throughout.

That we know, or can safely assume, that the story worked out well for the kids does take away some of the intensity, as does the film’s determination to make this film a moral journey and not just an experiential thrill ride. Nevertheless, it’s a trip in more than one sense of the word, and yet another streaming release this year that demands to be seen on the big screen.
