Amanza Smith Lit Up Miami Art Week as the Creators Gala Delivered a Night of Art, Influence, and Luxury

written by jummy84

The return of Miami Art Week brought with it a surge of creative energy, and few gatherings captured its cultural pulse more vividly than the 2nd Annual Creators Gala Art Party, presented by Twenty35, Swagger Magazine, Jane Owen Public Relations and Zooz Group. On December 4, 2025, the trio of powerhouse brands once again transformed the One Ocean South residence an architectural jewel in Miami Beach’s South Pointe enclave into a haven for art, fashion, and elevated luxury.

The evening was hosted by Amanza Smith, the multifaceted television personality whose nine-season presence on Netflix’s Selling Sunset had already established her as a global figure in design and entertainment. This time, her artistic voice took center stage. Fresh off sold-out shows at MASH Gallery Los Angeles and Grove Gallery London, Smith unveiled a new art collection that showcased her evolving visual language, rich with texture, movement, and introspective expression. Her transition from model, actress, interior designer, and realtor to exhibiting artist resonated deeply during a week that celebrates creative reinvention.

Smith was joined by a dynamic lineup of creators from Zooz Group’s global influencer roster. Their presence underscored the gala’s identity as a gathering point for emerging talents and established tastemakers across entertainment, lifestyle, and media.

Throughout the night, guests experienced the sophisticated ambiance of One Ocean South, beginning with red-carpet arrivals and continuing with curated culinary offerings and elevated mixology. Signature cocktails featured selections from the William Grant & Sons portfolio Milagro Tequila, Hendrick’s Gin, Glenfiddich Scotch, Reyka Vodka, and Monkey Shoulder Whisky while Sommsation presented an artfully assembled array of wines and sparkling varietals that complemented the evening’s “Liquid Art” theme. Premium Italian lager Peroni and Peroni 0.0 added a crisp, refreshing note to the drinks program, rounding out the celebration of artisanal craftsmanship.

Music played a pivotal role as DEOCA, one of Miami’s most exciting emerging producers and DJs, curated the soundscape. Having worked alongside major talents such as J Balvin, Trippie Redd, and David Guetta, and with several Top 10 releases on Beatport’s Tech House charts, DEOCA delivered a high-energy, globally influenced set that amplified the creative spirit of the evening.

Beyond the glamour, the gala also supported a meaningful cause through its partnership with GettingAlong.com, an organization dedicated to empowering future educators and policymakers with resources that foster societal well-being, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. The collaboration added a thoughtful dimension to an event celebrated for its artistry and cultural impact.

The 2nd Annual Creators Gala once again stood out as a defining highlight of Miami Art Week—an experience where contemporary art, digital influence, and luxury living converged seamlessly. With Amanza Smith’s artistic evolution at its heart, a captivating roster of influential guests, and a carefully curated sensory journey, the evening left an indelible impression on attendees and reaffirmed the gala’s place among Miami Art Week’s most anticipated destinations.

As the city’s signature art festivities continued, the Creators Gala distinguished itself as a celebration of vision, creativity, and cultural momentum an unforgettable night where art did more than adorn the walls; it shaped the atmosphere itself.

A Century Under the Influence of Edward Gorey

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

To wit, in “Something Else Entirely” there’s a sprawling illustration of women in black, men collapsed at their feet and peering out cautiously from their bustle skirts for Helen Vendler’s review of Notable American Women in a 1972 issue of The New York Times Book Review; an eerie greyscale garden maze and rambling topiary for a 1984 cover of TWA’s Ambassador magazine; a teensy spot illustration of a man in a trench on the case for TV Guide to accompany a regular gossip feature that first appeared in 1988; and a grinning skeleton luxuriating with a book in a striped hammock while elegantly dressed guests at a garden party look on with concern for a 1995 summer reading campaign for Bantam Books. The last drawing Gorey published in his lifetime is also on display here: an assemblage of fashionably frocked women arranged around letters spelling “black” for a 2000 issue of The New Yorker listing an exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology titled “The Little Black Dress and Other Signs of Status.” On paper, many of these assignments wouldn’t necessarily appeal, but brought to life by Gorey’s pen, they are utterly captivating.

But why, exactly, does Gorey continue to draw fans en masse now? In part it may be because his art and writing are a cleverly executed study in contrast. “Gorey’s work walks that perfect line between dark and funny, childlike and morbid,” says Compton. While he clearly reveled in darkness, there was always light too. “His work welcomes us into a gloomy world, but also makes this world hilarious and strangely lovable,” adds Schwartzburg.

And while some of that parallel proto-Victorian universe Gorey conjured feels old-fashioned, the work somehow doesn’t age. “It’s emotionally timeless,” says Compton. “He captured loneliness, absurdity, and curiosity in a way that still feels modern.” And, crucially, in a way that was, and is, deeply human—which in 2025 may be more valuable than ever.

“Something Else Entirely: The Illustration Art of Edward Gorey” is on view at the Society of Illustrators through January 3. “Edward Gorey: The Gloomy Gallery” is on view at Houghton Library through January 12.

Spring 2026 Runway Trends That Will Influence Design

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Fashion and interior design have always been closely connected—both serve as expressions of personal style, culture, and mood. Yet when new runway collections debut, our first instinct is to think about how they’ll influence our wardrobes rather than our living spaces.

With that in mind, I decided to look at the spring 2026 runway collections from a different angle this time—spotting those that are not only poised to dominate the season but also translate beautifully into interior design. Spring, after all, is a time of renewal—the perfect moment to rethink our surroundings, declutter our homes, invest in new meaningful pieces, or spring-clean, as some like to call it.

That spirit of fresh starts carried on the runways with a wave of newly appointed creative directors unveiling their debut collections at legendary fashion houses. Each brought a fresh perspective—honoring brand heritage while reimagining it for today’s world. For example, Louise Trotter presented a mix of bold, playful ensembles and classic, sophisticated ones at Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy redefined the classics at Chanel, and Jonathan Anderson showcased a wildly imaginative and fantasy-like line at Dior. These creative shifts signaled a broader reset—not just for the brands themselves, but for the direction of fashion as a whole.

When it comes to the overarching trends, designers demonstrated that they are helping guide us into a new era of personal style and craftsmanship. Instead of embracing “quiet luxury” or cookie-cutter trends that seem tailored for the algorithm, they are encouraging a return to personality, playfulness, and self-expression. The runways increasingly showed this through color, texture, and pattern. For a closer look at the top spring 2026 runway trends that will shape the future of interior design, continue scrolling. Additionally, Brittny Button, interior designer and founder of Button Atelier, shares her expert perspective on how these aesthetics can be adopted at home.

As mentioned, designers this season challenged what is considered cool or trendy, pushing quiet luxury aside and embracing loud luxury and maximalism instead. This was evident in ’80s-inspired styling seen in collections from Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, and Valentino. Think sculpted shoulders, nipped-in waists, and precise tailoring. Dramatic bows, silk blouses, and leather pencil skirts were key pieces, along with luxe metallics, jewel tones, and patterns like pretty polka dots, moody florals, and sophisticated snakeskin. Burton notes that this concept “translates into interior design through strong angled furniture, circular shapes, and fabrics with bold patterns.” It can also be simpler, using gold and amethyst purple touches, as well as quilted leather furniture or stainless steel décor.

A key theme on the runways this season was color, specifically the bold clashes of contrasting hues. These are shade pairings you might not initially think work, but they surprisingly do. Collections from brands like Balenciaga, Prada, and Versace featured unexpected color combinations such as red, blue, and purple or yellow, pastel green, and orange. They showed us that you can wear color and still look refined by sticking to classic, minimal silhouettes and relying on colors to elevate the look. Whether painting each wall a different hue or adding a colorful book to your coffee table, there are many creative ways to incorporate color into the home while making it feel like you.

If your goal is to create a home that feels warm, layered, and visually compelling, incorporating textural elements is essential. Take cues from the spring 2026 runways, where designers like Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Chanel, and Bottega Veneta, among many others, embraced tactile richness through materials such as fur (yes, even for spring), leather, and, notably, fringe. These textures add dimension and depth but also a sense of comfort and refinement. In the home, they translate beautifully through upholstery, soft furnishings, and curated accents. “Heavy fringe borders are already everywhere,” shares Button. “It gives incredible visual movement and drama.” Beyond fringe, Button notes that mohair, bouclé, performance velvet, and vintage distressed finishes are fantastic juxtapositions, especially if used in the same space.

A common theme across the fall/winter 2025 and spring/summer 2026 collections was a sense of softness, ethereality, and overall joyfulness, expressed through billowy, lightweight fabrics and soothing, airy colors. At Chloé, this was reflected in lace trims, ruffled hems, and tiered designs. Zimmermann showcased draped fabrics in bubblegum-pink hues, creating a delicate aesthetic, while Simone Rocha highlighted sheer materials and pearls. Dior’s designs combined empowerment and glamour with cinch-waist pencil skirts, flowing lace dresses, and floral motifs. Button notes that this trend can extend to home décor through “crescent-shaped sofas and round mirrors that mimic the female form. It’s these organic shapes and undulating lines of soft S curves that feel soft and overwhelmingly female.” Even incorporating floral-patterned pillows, flower-shaped dishware, or lace-like wallpaper can help one achieve the aesthetic at home.

From Tory Burch to Versace, Prada to Toga, preppy style made a confident return to the runways, but this time with a bourgeoisie twist. It wasn’t about 2000s-inspired schoolgirl nostalgia. Instead, it felt elevated and mature, similar to what sophisticated dressers might wear at a country club. Think double-breasted navy blazers adorned with distinctive buttons, slim pencil skirts with skinny belts, layered button-up shirts styled with ease and elegance, and stripe sweater-vests paired with trousers. New England–inspired elements also made a striking appearance, most notably at Celine, where models carried horseback-riding helmets embossed with the Celine logo. Just like in fashion, taking this aesthetic into the home involves crispness and structure. “The preppy-nouveau trend can be seen in interiors when there’s an infusion of crispness,” Button shares. Picture interiors with tailored lines; navy, cream, green, and brown color palettes; and accents of leather and wood. It can also be seen through equestrian artwork, plaid rugs, and leather sofas. “Buttons offer a tailored approach for sofa upholstery which feels art nouveau inspired,” Button adds.

Aditya Narayan shared some heartwarming anecdotes about his father, legendary singer Udit Narayan.

Aditya Narayan Reflects On Dad Udit Narayan’s Influence On His Parenting Style

When asked if father and son ever fight while performing together on stage, Aditya laughed and said, “Nahi. Jo bhi dose deni thi na Papa ne mujha wo 18 saal se pehle tak hi de di thi. Show ke baad kabhi kabhi pyaar me bolte the ki ye line galat gaa di but it was lovely for him.”

Fondly recalling his father’s way of balancing love and guidance, Aditya added, “Papa ne bohot balance rakha tha mere saath. Jitna pyaar kiya utna hi samjhaya bhi. Maa baap ki maar me bhi aashirwad hota hai. He’s a gem for me.”

The conversation took a sweet turn when he was asked if he is the same with his own daughter. With a smile, he admitted, “Nahi mai to pighal jata hu. Ab samay bhi to badal gaya hai.”

The exchange beautifully highlighted the warm father-son bond that Aditya cherishes with Udit Narayan, and the softer, more playful parenting style he embraces with his little one.

“His influence on heavy music is timeless”

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Tributes have been paid following the death of At The Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg.

The death of the 52-year-old Swedish singer was announced today (September 16) by former Opeth vocalist, David Isberg. He shared a collection of photos of Lindberg and wrote some of his lyrics in the caption: “It is cold out here/ And lonely is my journey/ I walk the trail of broken souls/ The darkest path through infinity.”

News of the passing was then confirmed by Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott. The two bands are closely tied as Arch Enemy drummer Daniel Erlandsson is the brother of At The Gates’ drummer, Adrian Erlandsson.

“I first met him when he was 15 and I was 18 — just two kids completely dedicated to underground music,” Amott wrote. “Life took us in different directions, but we’d bump into each other from time to time. Reconnecting properly in 2019 when we toured together was really special. Today we’ve lost one of the true OGs of the Swedish death metal scene.”

Lindberg had been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma – a cancer of the mouth and pallet – in December 2023, but did not publicly share the news until this year. Last month it was revealed that the diagnosis had worsened, and he was “being closely monitored around the clock” (via Louder).

In his statement that he penned back in March but didn’t make public until August, he said that 2025 had “been a very tough year” due to the health issues, and that he would be undergoing “some form of chemotherapy to keep the cancer in check”.

Among those paying tribute is Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, who shared, “It’s with overpowering shock that I write this, having just received the news that he has passed on.” He went on to recall his time meeting Lindberg in the ‘90s and being “blown away” by his performances.

“Tomas, my friend. You were a pioneering musician. A fantastic frontman and singer. A lovely human being! You’ve always had my endless respect. A respect that will flow effortlessly, even now that you’re no longer with us.”

Peaceville Records took to X/Twitter to share: “We extend our condolences upon hearing of the passing of At The Gates’ Tomas Lindberg, our deepest sympathies to those near & dear. Greatly gifted writer, fiercest of vocalists making an indelible mark on Death Metal forever, gone too soon to ‘join with the pulse of the universe’.”

Japanese band MONO shared a picture with Lindberg and wrote: “We’re saddened to hear about the passing of Tomas Lindberg from At The Gates today. When he curated Roadburn Festival in 2019, he kindly invited us to perform and we became friends. Thank you for the love, and our sincere condolences go to his family and loved ones. ATG forever.”

Lindburg co-founded the Swedish metal pioneers At The Gates with guitarist Alf Svensson in Gothenburg in 1990 after the breakup of their previous band, Grotesque. They shared their debut EP ‘Gardens Of Grief’ in 1991 and debut album ‘The Red In The Sky Is Ours’ the following year.

Their sophomore album, ‘With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness’, arrived in 1993, and that same year saw Svensson replaced by guitarist Martin Larsson. This line-up released ‘Terminal Spirit Disease’ in 1994 and ‘Slaughter Of The Soul’ in 1995, before splitting up in 1996.

Lindberg then performed with other groups including Disfear, Skitsystem, and Lock Up, and reunited with At The Gates in 2007 to release a further three albums, with the last arriving in 2021. Outlets including Louder report that he completed recording vocals for another album with the group before his death.

Outside of music, the singer also worked as a social studies teacher to English-speaking students, and joked in a 2014 interview that his students were not fans of his band. “They are not into heavy metal music but they are aware of what I do,” he told Cryptic Rock.

“They see the Facebook likes and the YouTube hits. My students are actually about 80 percent Muslim immigrants and they are not into the music, but they think it is cool.”

Abuse allegations, Babita’s influence, and Bollywood: How Sunjay Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor’s ‘fairytale’ marriage ended

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

In the early 2000s, Karisma Kapoor was one of Bollywood’s top female stars. When her engagement with actor Abhishek Bachchan was announced, it made news for weeks. The two ‘royal families’ of Bollywood were coming together, it seemed. But it was not to be. Within months, their engagement was broken, and just months later, Karisma was betrothed to industrialist Sunjay Kapur.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur with Randhir Kapoor at their wedding.

Many in Bollywood asked who Sunjay was at the time. The Delhi-based industrialist was a divorcee and known to be the life of the Delhi party circuit. But none of that mattered to Karisma’s mother, former actor Babita. A source told Hindustan Times in the mid-2000s that she always wanted an ‘industrialist husband’ for Karisma. “Sunjay was a good catch and nothing else mattered except his industrialist tag,” the source added, “Sunjay himself was perhaps a little star-struck.”

The fairytale wedding

It was a fairytale wedding at the RK Studios in Chembur, Mumbai, on September 29, 2003. Although a large section of Bollywood avoided the wedding due to their loyalties to the Bachchans, Karisma soon wrapped up her pending films and moved to Delhi.

She continued to travel to Mumbai to film her show Karishma: A Miracle of Destiny, but reports said that Sunjay did not like that. Karisma ended the show and bid her acting career goodbye, at least for a while.

The first cracks appear

But the Delhi-Mumbai divide hit her hard. A source told HT in 2006 that Karisma felt uneasy at Delhi’s parties and did not fit with the socialite crowd. “She was unable to match wits with the Delhi society crowd,” said the source. Apparently, “she once thought a Labrador was a new car.”

In March 2005, Karisma moved back to Mumbai for the birth of her daughter, Samaira, and stayed back. Sunjay went to her with divorce papers, but she refused to sign. After much negotiation, the two reconciled. Son, Kiaan, was born in 2011.

The messy divorce

But the marriage unravelled again. As per reports, Sunjay’s family blamed Babita’s ‘influence and interference’ in Karisma’s life. When she filed for divorce, Karisma alleged domestic abuse and attributed it to Sunjay’s alleged substance abuse. A messy divorce followed, which saw the marriage eventually break down in 2016, almost a decade after the cracks first appeared.

Sunjay eventually married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and they had a son. Karisma and Sunjay’s children—Samaira and Kiaan—remained close to their father even after he remarried. But Karisma largely stayed away from family gatherings and vacations. The delicate balance broke after Sunjay’s death.

Sunjay’s death and the legal battle

The businessman died in June 2025 in London, and soon, Kiaan and Samaira accused Priya of forging his will and excluding them from the estate. The reported ₹30000 crore worth of the estate meant that a fight was on. The case is in the Delhi High Court now.

Luca Guadagnino on Woody Allen Influence on ‘After the Hunt’

Luca Guadagnino‘s academia cancel-culture thriller “After the Hunt” (Amazon/MGM Studios) is the Italian filmmaker’s latest work to premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It stars Julia Roberts as a Yale philosophy professor, who’s unraveling amid a sexual-assault accusation made by her student (Ayo Edebiri) against her colleague (Andrew Garfield).

From a script by first-time feature writer Nora Garrett, Guadagnino’s third feature in three years plays out of competition in Venice, with the director joined by Roberts, Michael Stuhlbarg, Garfield, Edebiri, and Chloë Sevigny on the Lido. During Friday’s press conference in the Palazzo del Casino, the actors tangled with the film’s thorny topics, which deal not only with assault but also race relations in the academic world and the ideological divide between generations.

Given the film’s cancel-culture overtures, it’s noteworthy and not by accident that the film’s opening credits are in the style of a Woody Allen movie: in the Windsor typeface and white text against a black screen, in alphabetical order, and acknowledging said alphabetical order. Eagle-eyed audiences will ponder the connection between an artist who’s become persona non grata in American culture and Roberts as a professor who is facing accusations and persecution of her own.

During the Friday morning press conference, IndieWire asked Luca Guadagnino why those opening credits share an aesthetic with a Woody Allen movie. “The crass answer would be why not?” the “Call Me By Your Name” filmmaker said. “There is a canon that I grew up with, and why I started thinking about this movie with my collaborators, in front of the camera and behind the camera, we couldn’t stop thinking of ‘Crimes and Misdemeanors’ or ‘Another Woman’ or even ‘Hannah and Her Sisters,’ and there was an infrastructure to the story that felt linked to the great oeuvre of Woody Allen between 1985 and 1991.”

He added, “I played with that a few times before this, a couple of times used that kind of graphic and font, and I felt it was also interesting thinking of an artist who has been, in a way, facing some sort of problems about his being and what is our responsibility in looking at the work of an artist that we love, like Woody Allen. And by the way, it’s a classic font, that kind of font. It goes beyond Woody.”

Roberts said it’s “not so much that we’re making a statement” with the hot-button film. “We’re sharing these lives for this moment and want everyone to go talk to each other after… we are kind of losing the art of conversation in humanity right now, and if making this movie does everything, getting everyone to talk to each other is the most exciting thing we can accomplish.
